Good. This will help small businesses and the middle class worldwide.

Photo looks more like the G5 with some backup players. Right where Suga belongs.

They should change their name to the "Group of Seven Wealthy Nations Against China" (G7WNAC), but I guess that wouldn't have the same ring as G7

“This G7 summit will live on in infamy," said Max Lawson, the head of inequality policy at the international aid group Oxfam. “Faced with the biggest health emergency in a century and a climate catastrophe that is destroying our planet, they have completely failed to meet the challenges of our times.”
Not to be too cynical, but have to agree here. Oxfam and ProPublica have been doing the Lord's work exposing this untaxed transnational capital.
But the pledges on environmentalism have always amounted to little and there is even less reason to believe that this corporate tax will be enforced and used wisely.
Have it linked to a UBI program or guaranteed health care or housing, like with property taxes and education, and we could be moving in the right direction.

Ah, trying to bring back the British Empire, eh? It worked so peacefully last time. /s

It seems that the US and UK leaders are unaware how much the world has changed. They see themselves as global leaders, but Europe and Japan are not eager to follow them. They are out-of-date and don’t even know it yet. Embarrassing.
Whatever progress is made run the risks of being undone by the next US administration every four or eight tears. Wash rinse repeat. Trump is considering running in ‘24. The US can’t lead effectively when the leadership changes so quickly.
Without lobster and rum, how can you ask them to come up with good ideas to save the world?
GdTokyo
What a difference getting rid of a narcissistic sociopath makes. Currently 75% of EU nationals feel that the US can be trusted to do the right thing.
under the fat former guy it was 17%.
virusrex
That it was necessary to have this meeting to decide something that was obviously necessary long before is a show of how little it actually mattered. Just publicity about doing the minimum that is possible to do.
Blacklabel
The right thing for who?
GdTokyo
Certainly not for Vlad. Poor Puttie.
Michael Machida
The more you tax corporations, the more expensive your coffee will be.
kyushubill
Why is that guy wearing a Jay Leno head?
Goodlucktoyou
So they just sold one billion emergency vaccines. What’s their commission?
virusrex
Even at the minimum, expected economic recovery would make any kind of commission on vaccines peanuts. Developed countries depend very strongly on those still affected by the pandemic for a log of their economies, so "helping" them means a lot of money falling on their laps.

Despite the headline of this article, everyone knows that the G7 did NOT agree on China. Biden failed to get his hard line on Xinjiang passed. Not everyone is impressed with US NED-funded propaganda.
"“This G7 summit will live on in infamy," said Max Lawson"
Lawson is correct.

It's ironic that the G7 nations, except Canada, all carved up and colonized China in the 19th and 20th centuries. But then again, Canada had their own Chinese exclusion act. EU can now represent the other missing colonizers, Austria, Hungary, Belgium and Portugal! Unfortunately the remaining colonizer, Russia, got booted out of G8.
drlucifer
Yeah, leading the world with vaccine nationalism. Rhetoric is cheap.
Wolfpack
Continental Europe is never willing to pull its own weight on anything.
Kaerimashita
I love “wealthy nations” when if you look at their finances they are essentially bankrupt. Only money printing keeping their economies alive and allowing their ruling classes to spend money like drunken sailors.
FtGuy2017
They are only leaders of one thing, "suppressing freedom and installing global surveillance".
Ego Sum Lux Mundi
They should've got a fatter guy to wear the Boris head.
vanityofvanities
It was a great vacation for Suga who is in hot water back in Japan.
CrashTestDummy
The G7 protestors in the photo are great. Too funny.
Goodlucktoyou
As the unelected leader of the worlds third economy, he should at least learn English. He’s the guy at the back with an open checkbook. Probably confused about 10000 and 1000.
Jsapc
What in god's name are you talking about? The one billion vaccines will be given to poorer countries, not sold.
Kaerimashita
There are 9 of them!! I know the EU Commissioner, but who is the other spare wheel?
Not a good look when they can't even count for the picture.
Peeping_Tom
"Don't the economies of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United Kingdom combined equal China's? Okay, maybe I'm slightly exaggerating, but still..."
1) You are exaggerating.
2) 1.2 Billion people equals a large GDP.
3) Divide that large GDP by its equally larger population
China doesn't look that great now, does it?
4) That's how it should be done. instead of simply "marvelling" at the fact a 1.2 billion nation has a larger GDP than one with e,g, Britain, 65 million people, or Japan 125 million.
Bigger GDP, yet poorer than even South Korea, not in the G-7.
5) There are good reasons why China is not in the G-7:
a) Authoritarian and totalitarian State
b) Middle income (lower) country, therefore not rich,
Simples.
Goodlucktoyou
The emergency vaccines will be paid for by tax payers. The money, currently $100 per person for Pfizer will go to...Pfizer. Or Modena. J&J. Astra.......
Mickelicious
Boris hung by his own petard courtesy of a British journalist:

Jsapc
The Pfizer vaccine costs $19.50 per dose for the American government, and $14.70 per dose for the European governements. Why would you claim it costs $100 per person?
Also, why did you try to imply the G7 leaders somehow get a commission on that?
voiceofokinawa
There're six masked heads of states in the picture far above. What's happened to Italian Prime Minister?
voiceofokinawa
Is there any meaning as to why he is missing from the caricature?
starpunk
This time Merkel isn't looking down at an immature sassybrat and TrumpChump isn't tossing Starbursts onto a table like a hissy-fit baby. And in the UK things are better too. joe didn't need a baby balloon to greet him and he didn't talk lustful trash about Princess Di either. Joe has more class. America is looking good again.
PTownsend
Maybe ask the far right conspiracy theorists, pushing Italygate.
Zaphod
A swamp group photo. Every single one of them should go.
bass4funk
Now she has to deal with a weak President, no wonder Germany is thinking about building up their military.
How did Di get into the G7 debate?
How so? How is that helping him? Definitely not helping him with Russia and China
Hiroshi13
all to demonstrate that international cooperation is back after the upheavals caused by the pandemic and the unpredictability of former U.S. President Donald Trump.
"Unpredictable" meaning not being used as an ATM doormat? The way Trump is still living rent-free in these journalists heads you would think he was the only member of an international organization that ever wanted the best outcomes for his own people.
Jsapc
That sentence would have been on point 3 years ago. Germany actually started raising its defense budget under president Trump.
Attilathehungry
Again, so refreshing to see that the former President still lives on in the hearts and minds (and especially heads) of so many people. Do you really miss him that much?
As for the current crop at the G7, the less said the better. Pres. Biden couldn't even have a short spontaneous press conference without stumbling, fumbling, and being controlled like an aging puppet on a string. Didn't know the difference between Libya and Syria, needed a list provided by his handlers to call on 'safe' reporters with pre-screened questions, led by the hand by his wife.... feel sorry for him TBH.
quercetum
7 of the most powerful countries and they cannot even say "genocide" to China. How is it that there is genocide going on but G7 calls on China to "respect human rights?" You all don't find this weak?
