Given all the noise around the last election, seems like clearer and more transparent rules make sense. Not sure why there is such a fuss about this - voting isnt that difficult for people who really want to vote.

Republicans are not trying to suppress People’s right to vote. Biden calling this Jim crow 2.0 demonstrates the democrats have nothing else to go on except racism racism racism. What’s so hard about getting an id and showing up to vote during voting times? Other countries do it—and the USA is supposed to be the most developed nation? It’s like paying your bills on time. Take responsibility and stop wanting to vote from your sofa on your own personal schedule. Being a good citizen entails great responsibility.

Republicans are not trying to suppress People’s right to vote.

You're right: they're just trying to suppress racial minoritie's right to vote.

I saw a YouTube video where a guy was interviewing Liberal Arts students a year or 2 ago. He asked students what they thought about Voter ID laws. Many of them, white students, tried to explain that these laws are racist because Black people can't get IDs. The same guy went to Harlem to interview Black people if they had IDs. Many of them laughed and asked why wouldn't they have an ID. They can't live without ID including driving a car, bank loans, buy alcohol and many other things.

A great source of unbiased information, no doubt.

A great source of unbiased information, no doubt.

Until you head into the Black community to ask people why they don't have an ID. We both know that this will never happen.

1 ( +9 / -8 )

Until you head into the Black community to ask people why they don't have an ID. We both know that this will never happen.

Yes, that will never happend because I don't work for the government or a newspaper and nobody appointed me to the task of finding out why people don't have an ID. If you pay me to do so, I'll gladly do it though. Should I give you my paypal? Until then, all we have are statistics and the work from actual journalists.

If these were “voter ID” laws the National Populists might have a point. I personally support voter ID laws.

that is the National Populist straw man.

these “laws” exist to appease one man, because in his modus operandi the only way he can lose is if he’s cheated.

this would not be happening if he were still President. Had he won the 2020 election would have been the “greatest election in the history of humanity.”

but he didn’t win. And any Republican who acknowledges that is cast out as a RINO.

and here we are

yippee

1 ( +5 / -4 )

I can understand how someone might argue that we need voter ID laws to prevent fraud. (Although such fraud is ridiculously rare.)

No, it’s not, that’s why these measures are implemented

I absolutely cannot understand how limiting dropboxes, polling locations, and voting hours prevents fraud. Please explain this to me.

Because you can monitor more easily who goes, how many people and verify more accurately.

However, Democrats need to be careful about labeling GOP efforts to make voting more difficult as racist. The GOP is making it more difficult for populations who vote Democratic to vote, regardless of race.

Well, no that’s not true. In fact, they’re making it more easy to vote and making it easier to vote by mail, the only problem is, they’re making sure people don’t vote twice, that they don’t allow dead people to vote, or their pets, or register in multiple states and to ensure they don’t get multiple ballots based on previous lived addresses. My own sister got 3 the last election and she could have filled them all out and submitted them and there would not have been a way to prove or verify any of the previous addresses as valid or invalid.

-7 ( +4 / -11 )

No, it’s not, that’s why these measures are implemented

Please post proof that voter fraud is not ridiculously rare.

You obviously have data that the governmental agencies don't have. Share it.

However, Democrats need to be careful about labeling GOP efforts to make voting more difficult as racist. The GOP is making it more difficult for populations who vote Democratic to vote, regardless of race.

Well put, Plastic Monkey.

Great but Washington Post and Brennan Center aren't unbiased reporting sources. It is like me countering with a Breitbart article.

Whatever let's them sweep the Jim Crow that they started under the carpet.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Please post proof that voter fraud is not ridiculously rare.

I don’t need to because I’m not a pollster or a politician that can view the data, but I will say this, if you want to make that argument, then you can make the equal opposite argument that voting suppression it’s also very rare. The liberal data that shows voter suppression, then you can show the conservative data that shows voter fraud is high.

-10 ( +3 / -13 )

Great but Washington Post and Brennan Center aren't unbiased reporting sources. It is like me countering with a Breitbart article.

No, it really isn't. Breitbart is a known pusher of actual fake news and conspiracy theories. The Washington post is a liberal-leaning actual news source. There is a gigantic difference between the two. But if you found any fact in the article I posted that is blatantly false, don't hesitate to refute it.

5 ( +9 / -4 )

Didn’t say “unconstitutional” which is the only thing that matters. The rest is just hyperbole and opinion.

un-American” and “un-democratic"

-5 ( +5 / -10 )

I don’t need to because I’m not a pollster or a politician that can view the data,

Yes, you do need to. When you make an outlandish claim such as "voter fraud is massive", you need to be able to substantiate it with actual facts and numbers.

but I will say this, if you want to make that argument, then you can make the equal opposite argument that voting suppression it’s also very rare. The liberal data that shows voter suppression, then you can show the conservative data that shows voter fraud is high.

None of this word jumble makes any sense.

I gave more than 70 cases related to thousands of votes just in 2020 the other day.

if give more, you just ask for more. Then you deploy the “it’s not widespread” or “it’s not massive” narratives.

Even 1 fraud is too many. as that steals 1 other persons legitimate vote from them.

Please post proof that voter fraud is not ridiculously rare.

-7 ( +3 / -10 )

Yes, you do need to. When you make an outlandish claim such as "voter fraud is massive", you need to be able to substantiate it with actual facts and numbers.

Then you need to make the same claim about voter suppression and the Dems can’t and Kamala insulting the black community by saying they can’t find an OfficeMax or Kinko’s is so absurd, it just makes you laugh.

None of this word jumble makes any sense.

Liberal policies don’t make sense either in this sense.

-5 ( +4 / -9 )

Apart from the content of the various laws, Ol' Joe's speech was a doozy. Biggest crisis since the civil war? Surely some mistake. Poor guy is really all at sea.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Then you need to make the same claim about voter suppression

Here you go:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voter_suppression_in_the_United_States

Now, please provide proof of "massive fraud".

4 ( +7 / -3 )

if give more, you just ask for more.

I've been asking for proof of "massive fraud" from the start. For a few months, actually. Not "a little bit of fraud". "Massive fraud". Fraud that is big enough to sway an election. Fraud that is so big that it requires changes to the laws and new policies.

I know nobody here will be able to present said proof, because it doesn't exist, but I will keep asking for proof everytime somebody claims voter fraud is a widespread issue in America.

Straw man argument

y’all, (“y’all being supporters of these “voter integrity” laws) if voter iD were the issue, you’d be having very little resistance from the other side. Stop with this defense. It ain’t the point. Yeah, it’s a straw man

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

The fear of minorities being able to vote freely is the only cause that drives the GOP followers.

1 ( +7 / -6 )

The GOP wants to cancel the 2020 election, they want to cancel minorities, they want to cancel investigations into an insurrection……

The cancel culture of the GOP is out of control!!!

1 ( +7 / -6 )

"Sleepy Joe" is trolling the pubs!

They should respect it, they were pretty clear during Trump's term that his ability to stick it to the other team was what they respected most.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

This new law also allows people to use their Social Security number for verification if they don’t have a valid ID, that would be another alternative if they don’t have any other form of ID. Every working American citizen has a Social Security Number. If you can’t provide ID, this would be the next easy step into properly and accurately identifying a person, so that should be ok with Democrats and less intrusive since almost all Americans have them. Problem solved.

Even 1 fraud is too many. as that steals 1 other persons legitimate vote from them.

Then maybe you ought to go be one of Trump's "great" lawyers because all of them, to include Giuliani, have said under oath that "this is not a fraud case"...

*In a recent Pennsylvania federal case, Giuliani alleged “widespread, nationwide voter fraud” in his opening remarks. But under questioning from the judge, he retreated. “This is not a fraud case,” Giuliani later admitted. In the same case, Trump lawyer Linda Kearns said explicitly that she is *“not proceeding” on allegations of fraud.

GOP state voting restrictions 'un-American,' Biden declares

Voting restrictions already exist; those are un-American too?

A HUGE majority of Americans want new voting laws--more than 75% of Americans; are they Un-American?

Bass, if this were the whole story there wouldn’t be an issue.

Texas dems are not risking arrest and being confined to the Statehouse by Texas Rangers until they vote on this over voter ID

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Empty rhetoric. Not word one about removing the filibuster for electoral issues.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

I think the problem is that they are GOP rules.

Biden thinks the rules are "un-American"? OK, come up with a way to prevent voter fraud then that will ensure fair elections. Many of us also think that VOTER FRAUD IS ALSO UN-AMERICAN!

Both sides probably have some good points so let's put politics aside and come up with a fair solution.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

OK, come up with a way to prevent voter fraud then that will ensure fair elections.

Please post proof that american elections are not "fair" or that massive fraud exists.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

if this were the whole story there wouldn’t be an issue.

Texas dems are not risking arrest

Yes, they are.

and being confined to the Statehouse by Texas Rangers until they vote on this over voter ID

Abbott said the issue will be re-visited and resumed again, it’s not going away, not to mention, if the Dems stay away, they have to BE AWAY a full 30 days and that means they can’t even attend other important legislative cases and have abandoned their own constituents, that’s going to be tough, if you leave the steak on the grill and don’t attend to it, it’s going to burn up, so the Dems put themselves in a serious predicament now.

Not to mention Joe is worried about who counts the votes. Another problem easily solved, you have both parties observe and do the counting again, make it fair across the board both parties should be present then no one can complain about the process

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

The then-Attorney General William Barr lied to the country about voter fraud.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Abbott said the issue will be re-visited and resumed again, it’s not going away, not to mention, if the Dems stay away, they have to BE AWAY a full 30 days and that means they can’t even attend other important legislative cases and have abandoned their own constituents, that’s going to be tough, if you leave the steak on the grill and don’t attend to it, it’s going to burn up, so the Dems put themselves in a serious predicament now.

Yeah, uh...that’s the point.

they know all this. Probably a lot better than we do.

they didn’t go to these lengths over voter ID

straw man argument?

1 ( +3 / -2 )

The then-Attorney General William Barr lied to the country about voter fraud.

Hmm. Seems like he didn’t.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

So, Trump supporters, help us understand...

This Texas voting bill, and others sponsored by Repubs in red states, are to help protect against voter fraud that you and they allege occurred during the last election...

Yet when Trump's attorneys take this allegation to court, and are in front of a judge and are under oath, they state clearly that "This is not a fraud case" and "We are not alleging fraud"...

https://time.com/5914377/donald-trump-no-evidence-fraud/

So why are Repubs pushing these laws so strongly, when Trump's team has admitted there is no fraud?

Explain that to us...

1 ( +3 / -2 )

The then-Attorney General William Barr lied to the country about voter fraud.

He lied on TV about one voter filling out 16,000 voting slips. The very next day, the story turned out to be one voter filling out an additional single voting slip. The apology of the DOJ was very small print. Spreading of lies like that turned into Trump's big lie. A mountain can be built from small stones.

I watched it on TV this morning.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

one case of fraud requires that. to eliminate whatever was abused to allow even one fraudulent vote to be cast by either side.

Thats your voter disenfranchisement that is always talked about. I voted legally, but someone else's fraudulent vote canceled mine? then why vote?

Also you want 24/7 voting by any/all methods possible or its voter suppression, right. If even one person cant vote in the way or at the time/location they want, Dems scream "suppression". So one fraud is the same as even one suppression.

Fraud that is so big that it requires changes to the laws and new policies.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

So, Trump supporters, help us understand...

There's nothing to understand from them. The voter fraud is fraudulent, quite obviously. Same with the denial of insurrection and their spitting on democracy in favor of Trump's autocratic ideals. They're all lies. He's got all the poor qualities of a terrible person...racism, bigotry, liar, etc., etc. and they support this horror of a human being.

Trump and his supporters lie and lie and lie and then make up more narrative so they can lie. They're a cult and wasting time conversing with cult members who lie is an exercise in futility.

As one who critically thinks, there is none of it with Trump's cult, because they lie and have no desire to believe anything they don't want to.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

we simply dont vote by having one person going around collection 100 ballots and dropping them off.

We dont vote at 2am. We dont put our ballot in some 24/7 box. We dont send a ballot to people who dont request them.

All of these things were put in place because people were supposedly scared to leave their homes and vote. this isnt how we have ever voted before.

If it had been necessary (or even legal in some cases) before COVID we would have done it this way. Now we need to return to legislatures passing laws for their states. Not partisan election officials trying to keep the COVID exception rules.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

NOMINATION: I saw a YouTube video where a guy was interviewing Liberal Arts students a year or 2 ago.

Funny you should use this. One tactic by the GOP is to try to ban student IDs as valid forms of IDs for voting. Then you ban out of state driver's licenses next. It helps to create hurdles to get the younger from voting, which is part of the GOPs plan to keep minority rule since younger people tend to vote blue.

But we're pretty much past that now. IDs are the norm. Now the game is to reduce registration windows, polling places, voting hours, and anything that makes voting easier like drive-thru voting with IDs.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

yes, to help prevent students from voting in both states, obviously.

even the Georgia governor said there were many people who voted in Georgia and another state as well.

One tactic by the GOP is to try to ban student IDs as valid forms of IDs for voting. Then you ban out of state driver's licenses next.

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

At least the flying Dems are making a stand. And singing songs. And going on tv. And Kamala made an excellent speech on this topic. Joe is not alone jn decrying this attempt to subvert US democracy. Stop racism! Stop sexism! Stop all forms of voter discrimination, suppression and intimidqtion. I don't want to see the travesty of the last election when millions were prevented from or unable to vote and there weee so many allegations of irregularities.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

black: yes, to help prevent students from voting in both states, obviously.

Here's what you think you are saying: "We need more protection against the potential for fraud of students voting illegally."

Here's what you're really saying: "We need to add extra hurdles for millions of students to stop fraud that hasn't proven to exist."

You're hurting millions of good guys to catch one potential bad guy that you haven't even been able to find even exists.

All part of the GOP plan for minority rule.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

one case of fraud requires that.

Wow, you're so wonderfully righteous! Then you must also agree that one case of school shooting with an AR-15 is enough to ban all sales of semi-automatic weapons. And that one case of unvaccinated covid death is enough to implement forced vaccinations. And that one case of Capitol invasion by Trump supporters should be enough to bar Trump from running for any office ever again. All of this would be only fair for society.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

The then-Attorney General William Barr lied to the country about voter fraud.

he didn’t lie, if he did then you would not be seeing a lot of changes to the voting system and again, they are made to simplify things into streamline the process, if you don’t have voter ID then you can use your social security number and that is not racist, how can that be, they thought of this contingency plan and it helps the process

He lied on TV about one voter filling out 16,000 voting slips.

With 50 years of his reputation at stake, I don’t think so, I know the Dems are trying to push this so hard and it’s actually not working anymore

The very next day, the story turned out to be one voter filling out an additional single voting slip. The apology of the DOJ was very small print. Spreading of lies like that turned into Trump's big lie. A mountain can be built from small stones.

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

Isn't this interesting...a former federal prosecutor in Pennsylvania is runnng as a Repub for Givernor, and is echoing Trump['s claims that AG Barr forbid any investigation of alleged fraud...

“I wanted to be transparent with the public and, of course, investigate fully any allegations. Attorney General Barr, however, instructed me not to make any public statements or put out any press releases regarding possible election irregularities,” McSwain wrote. “I was also given a directive to pass along serious allegations to the State Attorney General for investigation - I disagreed with that decision, but those were my orders.”

However, Barr comes out today and says that's a lie...

In an interview with POLITICO, Barr — who became a favored punching bag for Trump after the 2020 election — denied ever telling McSwain or others not to pursue fraud allegations related to the vote.

“It’s written to make it seem like I gave him a directive,” Barr said. “I never told him not to investigate anything.”

And still waiting on an explanation why all these laws when Giuliani said under oath "this is not a fraud case"...

donald's clown show of a legal team got laughed out of courts when they tried to take up their voter fraud claims. Now these incompetent lawyers face suspension and even disbarment for lying to the courts.

However there is no punishment for lying to the people, especially if you have a stupid base who will lap up anything as long it appeals to their divisive mindsets. Fortunately for the GOP there are no laws prohibiting them from taking advantage of the mentally weak!!!

why are the razor blades in a locked case at the store? Why dont they just send you TWO ballots in case you make a mistake filling out one? then trust that you wont simply return both?

The voter fraud Biden voter said he didnt know he couldnt vote. Ok then, we prevent people in his status from being able to at all, by rules, processes and laws. Then for anyone who "doesnt know", now they CANT.

Obviously the fact that students could vote in more than one state and that it would be really hard to catch, and only much later after the election, concerned someone. so Prevention.

its ok though, Biden said today that only 150 people voted. so one vote is massive fraud based on that. Even 150 million is still wrong. Biden speech:

All told, more than 150 Americans of every age, of every race, of every background exercised their right to vote.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Fortunately for the GOP there are no laws prohibiting them from taking advantage of the mentally weak!!!

The Dems are taking advantage of minorities, that comment that Kamala Harris made the other day about blacks not being able to find a Kinko’s to make a photocopy is just so infuriating, you can go anywhere and make a copy, I don’t know if she understands this. Black people are not helpless group of people that can’t go out and get in the car and find a copy shop, that is just racially insulting

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

nope. the topic is voting. and making sure that every person's vote matters.

People's votes don't matter if they're dead. Therefore, even one instance of unvaccinated death calls for obligatory vaccinations, so that every american's vote counts in the next election. It's just pure logic. Don't you want people to vote?! Shame on you.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

well we are about to find out how many as it has (a) been confirmed the vote totals dont match in Arizona (by how much, dont know yet) and (b) that the same ballots were scanned multiple times in Georgia as different batches have the same exact ballot included.

So standby.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

Well, is anything wrong with these voting laws right now?

-Video surveillance of what are known as counties’ central counting stations where votes, including mailed ballots, and voting equipment containing vote tallies are delivered and eventually totaled up.

-Prohibition of local election officials from distributing applications for mail-in ballots to voters who did not request them.

-A committee of local election workers to compare a voter’s signature to “any known signature on file.”

-Moving all counties toward voting machines that offer a paper trail by producing an auditable paper record of ballots cast.

-Online tracker so voters can keep tabs on the status of an application to vote by mail and the processing of their ballot when it is cast.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

"1,328 proven instances of voter faud."

Well, that’s more than enough

There were over 159 million votes cast in the 2020 election.

Still that’s way too much

Do you know what percentage of 159,633,396 votes 1328 instances of fraud is?

in other words just give it a pass, if it were the other way around, the Democrats would turn over every stone to make sure no one person could cheat on any level

The voter fraud database, like 1,143 criminal convictions, 2005-2019 are small numbers of actual votes with many cases of duplicate voting. There are no mass fraud voting cases.

Which means that’s about 1,143 too many, it shouldn’t be that high especially with this election that we don’t know the actual numbers, because we’re not given the numbers, and I’m still waiting which program that was, it should be easy for you to tell me so I could look it up, I want to watch it as well and I couldn’t find it. If you can’t I understand. But the main thing is that the Republicans are making it indeed a lot easier to vote by mail, all you need to do is to provide proper ID and if you don’t have that, you can substitute that with your social and that shouldn’t be a problem, since most Americans have one and I think everyone can be satisfied on both sides. You’re not forced to have an ID in at the same time for conservatives you can verify it with your social, so it’s a win-win for both sides.

Still haven’t quite realized when it was that liberals changed fraud to be ok as long as it isn’t “massive”.

seems fraud prevention would be supported by both sides. Well unless you are the ones doing the fraud mostly.

There is always an element of voter fraud/mistakes in any election. Show be one election where it would have changed the outcome.

No voter fraud alleged in any of the states won by Trump, only those by Biden? Phoney logic.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

No, you obviously don't know what "massive" means.

I do, you don’t know me. Come on now! Lol

There's a thousand times more rat poop in your coffee than there were fraudulent votes in the last election.

drinking coffee and creating fraudulent votes it’s like comparing a whale to a tick, what are you saying? ROLF?

Still haven’t quite realized when it was that liberals changed fraud to be ok as long as it isn’t “massive”.

No, they’re just mad that there’s really not that much that they can do at this point going into the next election, because they’ve been boxed in. The laws are going to slowly change and the Democrats can’t do anything about the 25 states and since most of the people and especially black Americans overwhelmingly support voter ID (as I stated earlier) and the police, that doesn’t sit well with the Democratic Party, at all.

So you actually believe that 1,143 mostly duplicate votes over 14 years would have changed the result of a single election? Some of the frauds favour republicans too. They are not all democrat votes.

I am not talking about the election, you keep going back to election I am talking about future elections and going forward.

Some of the frauds favour republicans too. They are not all democrat votes.

and this new voter law will ensure that this won’t happen on a wild scale and everyone should applaud this on both sides, if Democrats really loved freedom and democracy the way they say they do, then they would want to make sure that this voter integrity on both sides and that both sides want free and fair elections

you post the link to the fraud database without even studying it. There are 1,143 criminals convictions for 2005-2019. But they also include the elections of judges and other people.

There is no wide-scale voter fraud.

It should be easy for every American to vote. It's easy to buy and carry a gun. Some states don't even ask for ID.

Still lots of Trump supporters here screaming fraud....yet not one explanation why Trump's lawyers to include Giuliani all have stated under oath in court "this is not a fraud case" and "we are not alleging fraud"....

You say there's fraud, but Trump's lawyers under oath and under penalty of contempt, all state the opposite...

Explain that...

Again a totally wrong statement which can be easily proven by a little research.

That's what the GOP relies on, the mentally weak will never check facts and keep reposting their lies!!!

Her words, it’s on video, she said that stupid thing, it yes, you can prove her wrong and she should apologize to the black community for making outlandish statements like that!

That's what the GOP relies on, the mentally weak will never check facts and keep reposting their lies!!!

Dems were doing it for 60 years and Kamal STILL thinks blacks can’t do anything without the help of whites. This woman is unbelievable!

Libs suddenly silent,

Anything wrong with these voting laws right now?

There is no wide-scale voter fraud.

Ok, that’s your personal belief you can believe that millions of Americans don’t and that’s why you’re seeing this change happening.

It should be easy for every American to vote.

Now it will be, especially now that they can use their social.

Not my personal belief. I actually took some time to study the fraud database you posted. Why post it if you don't believe it?

You expect me to believe that from 2005-2019 low levels of voter fraud.

But last year, 2020, there's a sudden jump, a massive jump, you have claimed in voter fraud and all of the cases are in the states lost by Trump.

According to a report published by FairVote, 27 recounts occurred in statewide elections between 2000 and 2015. Of those, 15 were held when the original margin of victory was of 0.15 percent or less. Three of the 27 recounts resulted in a reversal of the original election result.

Recounts are not voter frauds.

Why is there always a word in front of fraud? “Massive” “widespread” now “wide-scale”. How about there was no fraud in 2020? Why can’t that be said and why can’t we do something about it? Where is zero zilch nada guy?

can’t we just have a fraud feee election system using rules, processes and laws?

Voting on a Tuesday tell you who the USA government want to votes and who they don't want to vote. USA Government should make voting available between 00.01 am Saturday to 23.59 pm Sunday. No mail in, no postal.

You are naive. Fraud also includes mistakes and errors.

Millions of Americans every year drive trillions of miles on public highways. Do they all obey and follow the laws?
