I mean come on, it's Trump talking, why should ANYONE listen?

The very idea of arming teachers is ludicrous, most sane people understand that !

One more thing, if ANY country would consider, seriously consider, arming their teachers, Israel sure would be one to top the list, in my opinion. Given their history, it would seem to be a no brainer, but even they DON'T.

It's only the idiot, who is temporarily living in that "White" house, that is feeding the flames of fear and insecurity would openly have this discussion.

Only in the warped environment of America would anyone think the solutions to tragedy caused by guns is more guns.

The fact is many police officers struggle in these situations. The type of training that is needed - combat - is that which simulates stress response, and it is difficult to achieve and maintain. Assuming these teachers are going to be able to handle discharging firearms in crowds, while returning fire, and hit only the bad guy is delusional.

I am still in shock that we have a President capable of even suggesting such a ridiculous idea.

Just one small note. In Israel, guards are only in Jewish schools. Palestinian schools are constantly attacked by illegal settlers and the IDF.

Saul Alinsky wrote is his Rules for Radicals “The standards of judgment must be rooted in the whys and wherefores of life as it is lived, the world as it is, not our wished-for fantasy of the world as it should be.”

Whatever actions are taken they need to based on reality as it is now. The reality is that Americans have guns (that cat is out of the bag). Another reality is that, for whatever reason, a steady stream of dysfunctional young men get it into their heads to shoot up a school. People hold all kinds of opinions, this way or that, about each of these realities and an equal number of opinions about what should be done. Sometimes the basics get drowned out in the discussion but reality just keeps chugging along.

In the world as it should be no one would need to worry about guns or psychos or if your kids are safe at school, but that ain't the world as it is. If reality dictates a certain course of action, rejecting it because it shouldn't be that way, is irresponsible.
