Meanwhile, infections kept surging in the Northeast.

And posters have been saying the US passed the peak.

“LIBERATE MINNESOTA!” “LIBERATE MICHIGAN!” “LIBERATE VIRGINIA, ” Trump said

A variation on the left's chant '2-4-6-8, organize and smash the state'. But that's what Trump said he wanted and his clustered herds are pushing for. Divide and conquer: the the tactic of despots throughout history. Trump and his enablers like McConnell are doing more damage to the underpinnings of the republic than any other politicians in history.

Trump's plan to "re-open" is a recipe for disaster.  And when there is the inevitable surge he will blame the governors, Obama, the deep state - anyone but himself.

And his call to "Liberate" states run by democrat governors is in essence, a call to reject the democratically elected governments of those states.  He is openly using this disease to forward his own agenda.  There is no depth he would not stoop to.

17 ( +17 / -0 )

Protests happened in Republican-led states, too, including at the the Texas Capitol and in front of the Indiana governor's home. Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott already said that restrictions will begin easing next week.

Texas should be interesting. They've only been able to test a tiny fraction of their population because of a lack of testing kits but will start relaxing stay at home orders. Whatever happens happens.

Trump, whose administration waited months to bolster stockpiles of key medical supplies and equipment, appeared to back protesters.

The Trump admin, i.e Trump and factotums, cut back on spending for healthcare infrastructure. Bush 43 and Obama both warned about the possibility of a pandemic and the need to be properly prepared for it. And Trump said no one thought a pandemic could happen? And his media spokespeople parrot him to their fellow true believers.

'Trump waited months' will be aded to his legacy next to the body counts of those killed by the virus, next to the damage done to the economy. Curious if Jared/Ivanka/Donnie Jr's tax info will show they've made even more millions as a result. How much of the 'free stuff' being passed around to the 'elite' will they each receive. By now no one should expect to see their daddy's. His saying he'd shown them is one of 18,000+ and counting. What's he hiding?

American death-capitalism tanking the world

In all likelihood the world will recover faster and open trade with likeminded nations while the USA flounders.

12 ( +14 / -2 )

Maybe if America had a leader who was formulating an actual plan to get the country through this and out of the lockdowns people would have some actual hope.

Instead you’ve got one who is literally trying to undermine public health measures in the country that he himself is in charge of because that is all he knows how to do.

America is truly screwed under this guy. Its getting hit with a 9/11 death toll every day now and this jackass is still shirking his duties and using the Tweet storm playbook which is all he knows how to do. The US going to be hit far worse than any other country by this, its adding cases at a daily rate 10 times faster than Italy, Spain or other hard hit countries. That is entirely the fault of this one man.

12 ( +13 / -1 )

This pandemic will be a game changer for jobs

I agree. The elite running corporations will use much of the 'free stuff' bailout moneys they're getting to invest in automation, eliminating even more jobs. Machines don't catch viruses unlike those pesky peons. I think we'll see even greater expansion of gig-type jobs, those without any benefits. Which will make things even worse for most other than the 'elite' who'll continue to protect themselves and get their politicians to pass more regulations protecting them and further hurting those already hurting.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Today Trump blamed the states for a lack of test kits.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

How far do you take yours.

Answering a question with a question means you have no answer.

Theoretically, according to your logic I have the right to ask you to stay 6 feet away from me at all times, because you might infect me.

You do have that right in the US; it flows from the First Amendment. Does your country have the right of free expression?

I guess I also have the theoretical right to tell you to isolate yourself, because if you don't, you might infect someone else who might then infect me.

If you are in the US, even without documents, you have this right. How about in your country?

Where does it end?

The right to free speech in the US ends when it begins to infringe on other’s rights. I’ve repeatedly educated you on this point.

What right can't be taken away in the fight against infectious disease?

No rights are being taken away, they are being temporarily limited in line with the constitution and the jurisprudence it has spawned.

Care to answer my question?

8 ( +9 / -1 )

But neither did, neither pushed to get the country ready for it.

Except they did. Obama created a team to specifically respond to this type of pandemic, and Trump chose to disband it in 2018.

https://couriernewsroom.com/2020/04/14/obama-prepared-for-a-potential-pandemic-trump-gutted-his-work/

But Obama and his administration did see it coming, thanks in large part to their experiences with the 2009 H1N1 (swine flu) and 2014 Ebola outbreaks. Taking what they learned from those public health crises, the Obama administration sought to prepare Trump and his aides for the next pandemic. The current president, however, spent the first three years of his administration undermining and ignoring those pandemic preparedness efforts; he also ignored warnings from experts during the first three months of the coronavirus outbreak.

People forgave Trump for the slow response and that reflected in the polls

Trump is odd man out as approval ratings soar for world leaders’ handling of the coronavirus pandemic

I am inclined to say that Trump and his supporters should be able to have all the rallies they want to, except that when they inevitably end up in the ICUs, they will infect innocent health care workers, who then will end up paying for someone else's stupidity. That is the problem with ending the social distancing guidelines without first having testing available.......a lot of innocent people will die.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

But you left out Spain Italy Britain Iran Japan China Singapore in your blame game.

Be side they are irrelevant to what Donny failed to do.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Wow that was easy.

Yeah, its not hard for your screw ups to result in staggering levels of damage when you are in charge of the most powerful government in the world.

Its why competence used to be considered a prerequisite for the job.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Who May I ask will pay for all of these entitlements?

The US spends 3.2 of its GDP on defense. Make that under 2% (with will still keep the US as the leader in defense spending in the world) and use that money to help citizens instead of fighting useless wars. Also, tax all stock market speculation.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

It's ironic that the very same commentators who dismiss protests against the rise of fascism as anarchists or paid actors, are backing these demonstrations.

But then you see just who else is supporting the demonstrators.

The rally was organized by a host of Infowars, owned by conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, who joined protesters on the Capitol steps. Jones is being sued in Austin over using his show to promote falsehoods that the 2012 Sandy Hook school massacre in Connecticut was a hoax.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Blacklabel:. Dont want to interact with us, stay home.

Are you telling people to stay at home?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

But you left out Spain Italy Britain Iran Japan China Singapore in your blame game.

So? You think the leader of Iran doesn’t deserve criticism for their botched handling of this now?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Absolutely. That was the point of my post. You and other dull tools have been busy blaming Trump, non stop, but you dont blame the source, (China) or other countries leadership and response, therefore your arguement that its all Trumps fault has no merit.

Do those countries give the US marching orders? Do those countries have the same level of intelligence gathering capabilities? Do those countries have more highly qualified experts?

Your argument lacks logic, which means there is no merit to it. We are talking about the US, not China or any other country.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

TrumpAmerica “Wasn't made to be shut down.”

Me and millions more: "American capitalism wasn't made to handle a pandemic."

Trump's cynical encouragement of civic unrest and sicking his right-wing "Stormtrumpers" on society will not "re-open" America. Only the dedication and courage of the front line workers, the social infrastructure and solidarity of communities and expeditious action by state governors can save the the USA from this growing catastrophe that has overwhelmed the capacity of the country's nominal head. IQ45 has now become as irrelevant as his orange ferret comb over.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Thus you have no right to stop me from taking a walk to the park and socializing with my buddies

This implicate your right of assembly, not your free speech rights. Again, your rights are not absolute and can be temporarily limited in situations where a pandemic is sweeping the nation and killing thousands of people, which is what is happening.

The MYOB principle is found in the right to privacy, which isn’t explicitly stated in the constitution. It was birthed via the jurisprudence of the constitution.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

@bas4ffPeople forgave Trump for the slow response

People? Personally I will never forgive his inept handling of the virus. Along with all his other screwups and more importantly his ongoing attempts to further undermine the foundations of the republic so he, his family and his fellow 'global elite' can get even richer and have even more control.

if Trump doesn’t get the country open in some form and some people back to work then there is that possibility his Presidency could be in danger.

Once again ceding power and authority to the Trump. And if anything goes wrong he'll once again say 'I don't take responsibility for that', then go on to blame China, HillaryObama, the dems, something he and his followers call 'the media', the deep state and all his many other 'enemies' real and imagined.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

universal basic income, student debt forgiveness, voting systems changes,

How are any of these things bad, exactly?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

And as for Donnie's ratings? Bad, very bad....

Sorry, Trump’s 47% is an accumulative poll of all the polls combined and Axios is one of them, nice try. Lol

Accumulation is the right word choice - accumulation of BS...

U.S. President Donald Trump's job approval rating took a six-point dive in April amid federal efforts to combat the devastating effects of the coronavirus pandemic on the country’s health and economy.

A new Gallup survey released Thursday found that 43% of American adults approve of the way Trump is handling his job as president, while 54% say they disapprove, six points lower than its previous poll results on March 24.

And given Trump supporters age, a good percentage of that 43% are likely part of the 30K fatalities so far...

And he just adds to it with his daily unhinged Vegas Act briefings...and have you noticed that Dr Fauci is no longer at the briefings? He must have really meant it with he tweeted "@firefauci". You know, Dr Fauci, who every Trump supporter here said was an acknowledged expert and who we should all listen to...

So liberals think we should listen to that fool Emanuel? Funny...literally.

You should ask that Liberal inside your head that keeps trolling you 24/7....let us know what she (Hillary) says...

4 ( +4 / -0 )

STOP! Gallup is also included in that accumulation. So he stands as of today 47.4% which is pretty good for the msm and liberal beatdowns he’s getting from you guys. Lol

You now feel that all polls are credible. What a screeching 180 you’ve done. Way, way too funny.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

I ask because some posters claiming to be 'American' and claiming to live in Japan are upset the Japanese government is not being tough enough, while on the other hand saying the US government is being too tough and not reopening the country fast enough.

Their hypocrisy knows no bounds.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

no one is taking away your right to stay home as we go back to work. Dont want to interact with us, stay home.

We went over this yesterday, Black. The coronavirus lives on cardboard and plastic, so you’re idea would put even more people at risk.

Don’t you live here in Japan? If so, you can go to work or anywhere else’s you want and your rights aren’t being implicated at all.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

@blacklbaelthose countries are also reopening in stages. total silence from nearly all of you non citizens about anything but USA topics.

What do you think about the rightwing (and farther rightwing) posters from around the globe pouring fuel on 'American' fires and also supporting Trump?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Let’s be sure to quote Fauci completely instead of just cherry picking what we like:

For COVID-19, Fauci said that risk mitigation such as social distancing reduces the likelihood of catching the virus.

“It’s the kinds of things that we’ve been doing, the mitigation strategies that are an important part,” Fauci said.

*“What we really needed for for Phase One is to be able to identify, isolate [and] contact trace,” Fauci said. “A very important part of when you’re pulling back gradually and slowly on the mitigation, and you have people who might be infected, you want to know they’re infected, you want to put them in care.”*

https://nypost.com/2020/04/17/fauci-says-critics-wrong-that-testing-is-everything-to-reopen/

To identify, you need testing.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

I didn’t claim any such thing. I said will of the people.

Which is demonstrated by a majority of people. You know, democracy.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

If it were, someone would care that France now has 20,000 deaths and would have some comment about this same topic, but in France,

"But in France", there are no armed protests for the forced reopening of the economy disregarding public health, so there's not really much to talk about except "Macron was slow to handle the crisis but he's doing what needs to be done now."

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Could you ever have imagined it? A President of the United States, the Chief Executive, in his words the nation's top law enforcement officer - telling his supporters to go out and break the law, riot, steal, burn, even harm someone to help his doomed re-election chances. The President encouraging and supporting mob violence, anarchy, chaos in the streets...unbelievable...

If this were a movie, Putin wrote the script and Donnie was the Director...with the title; "How to Destroy America from Within"...

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Well, I wonder if law-abiding Americans will get a visit from the Trump-led anarchists today - the roving, violent mobs demanding their constitutional right to infect themselves, their families, and everyone around them...

They'll be in their pickup trucks with the anti-government bumper stickers - "Get the government out of my life", "Limited government!", "Down with Socialism".....as they drive up to the bank to cash their government bailout check.

Welcome to Trump and Putin's Amerika - where the leader of the government encourages you to overthrow and "Liberate" the government...

It sounds like a Mel Brooks comedy - except it's real...

bass: https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/other/public_approval_of_president_trumps_handling_of_the_coronavirus-7088.html

Yep. Shows a decline.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

People forgave Trump for the slow response and that reflected in the polls

Um, no. Trump supporters who would forgive him for gratuitously pouring sugar in their gas tank forgave Trump. Everyone else is mad as hell at him.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

fool Emanuel

Here we go again! Let's copy/paste it one more time.

"He, and the vast majority of other experts, are simply explaining that the virus will not have magically dissapeared once this lockdown ends, and that people must be prepared to live very different lives until a vaccine is ready (which usually takes 18 months at worst). That doesn't mean shutting down the economy completely, it means everyone thinking about and finding ways to work and live while maintaining social distancing and hygiene regulations."

Also, calling a oncologist with 3 degrees from Harvard a "fool" is not something that I would personally do or recommend doing.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

its not what the American people want

American people don't want student debt forgiveness? I believe 100% of students and their families actually want it, don't you think? Most americans also want to see the voting system change, and that goes for both sides, with democrats wanting to make it easier to vote for everyone, wherease republicans want to actively make it harder to vote for their opponents. Maybe you souldn't generalize your opinions to those of +300 millions people?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Then why did the candidates who ran on these issues lose the primary in their own party?

Joe Biden's program is actually the most progressive of any democratic nominee ever, due in part to the influence of those popular candidates who lost in the primaries. Meaning their ideas are indeed popular in some form or other for the whole party.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Then why did the candidates who ran on these issues lose the primary in their own party? It’s like saying Dems wanted a minority woman and then only 1% voted for one. You obviously don’t want things if people don’t vote for them.

Logic failure. You’re presupposing that’s every democrat voted in the primaries.

> Regardless the protests have put governors on notice as to the will of the people they govern.

Logic failure. Were more than 50% if the populace of a state at these protests?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

the will of the people they govern

Actually the will of a minority of the people they govern.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

love how protests are invalid now and don’t matter unless you are the “majority

Nobody said they didn't matter. I only said they reflected the will of a minority of the people, which is a very simple and irrefutable fact.

the France article remains yet empty. Hong Kong democracy activists arrested. No care. But Orangemanbad lives on, from non citizens and USA apologists.

French politics do little to influence the global economy. The situation in HK, although troubling, has very little impact on the lives of people outside HK. But unfortunately, America being the superpower that it is, what it does and doesn't do ultimately has an influence in everyone's lives, which could explain why a lot of non-americans have opinions to be voiced about its politics. To make a very clear example : the election of George W. Bush lead to the needless deaths of hunderds of thousand of people in Irak a few years down the line. Deaths that would never have happened had Al Gore been elected. That is the extent to which American politics influence the world.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Today, in his news briefing, Trump blamed Obama for "leaving the ventilator cupboard empty". He also blamed Obama for leaving the U.S. Military with zero ammunition's.

If you bought a restaurant and became the owner of a franchise, would you blame the previous owner for not having enough stock and supplies three years later?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

So in conclusion....stay home.

“we” are restarting our lives and reclaiming our rights and liberties. If you don’t go outside you can’t be infected by “us”.

but you already going to the supermarket and weed store and liquor store and accepting deliveries now.

so not like you are safe even under shelter in place. So please don’t go outside at all until after the election.

This might actually be a good strategy. We'll have to give up some of our protected civil liberties, but the Trump supporters will infect each other and their families and likely succumb by Nov, ensuring a Dem sweep of the WH and Congress...

See you then.

Doubtful, I don't plan on visiting the morgue...

3 ( +3 / -0 )

an entire article commented on in politically biased way by mostly non Americans telling us what the American political system should be.

I guess after decades of America telling the rest of us what to do, it's refreshing to see the tables turns on the Great Satan.

The actions of this currently rogue administration affect all of us. Trump supporters should not act surprised that the resistance is worldwide.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

just stay home, we will call you after we reopen the country and the economy for you.

Is this being written from the US or Japan? I ask because some posters claiming to be 'American' and claiming to live in Japan are upset the Japanese government is not being tough enough, while on the other hand saying the US government is being too tough and not reopening the country fast enough.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

When you blame Trump for not taking responsibility though, you also have to do the same for all governors. When Trump said that he alone decided when to open up the economy, those governors, who correctly said that they and they alone and not Trump have the power to decide, must also take more responsibility for they and they alone and not Trump, also had the the power to take preventative measures against the virus in the first three months of this year.

Trump imo is unfit for POTUS. That in itself will take you a long way until November. If there is an attempt to harm the economy in order to win an election, you can't dismiss the possibility of shooting yourself in the foot.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I didn’t claim any such thing. I said will of the people. Every vote matters every voice matters.

Except the majority of Americans whose rights you would take away, as you state above...

Also, we were criticizing you for having claimed a “majority” of citizen had joined these protests.

and our liberties are not overridden by state governors politically based decisions. Sorry.

And to prove our point we're going to get our guns and clubs and go down and ransack City Hall...

Anarchists...

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Donny has proven himself to be one of the most socialist presidents in history with his government handouts ($1,200 to each adult and even some non-resident aliens; $500 to each child - all of this even if you don’t live in the states!)

3 ( +4 / -1 )

People are going to remember how the government overreacted and how their freedoms were taken away

Or people are going to remember a leadership that was more concerned about ratings than preventing 39 thousand deaths.

A government that kills its own citizens, directly or indirectly, won't be fondly remembered by history.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

The rights of the few against the fears of the many

Yeah, like the rights of people to wear a burka against the fear of muslims, like I said. Or the right to not go through a constraining security when boarding a plane against the fear of it exploding in the air. So what is your opinion on those? How far does your support for total liberty go? Doyou think you should be able be have a grizzly bear as a pet and not even put in on a leash?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I think some people are so desperate to give Trump some good economic news that they will put lives at risk.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

So the Bible decreed that lepers should live apart from the rest of the community so that their mobile signals could be tracked?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

I believe he clearly said that the buck doesn't stop with him...

I agree. But Trump's contradicted himself so many times, 'intentionally misinformed' (18,000 and counting) so many times, got his numerous media mouthpieces parroting his 'intentional misinformations' so many times, that he's been able to have his WH PR minions cherry pick what he's said to cover up. Trump's mastered cover-up better than any president ever.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

I see the Trump disinformation warriors are back at it today - even after getting a drubbing for posting all their fairy tales yesterday.

When it comes to Trump's favorite subject - his "ratings", we see a significant rise for all the Governors that led the fight against the virus from the beginning - and its a bipartisan rise; Cuomo and Newsom - both Dems, and DeWine and Hogan - both Repubs. They share one thing - they ignore Trump and his daily lies and fabrications.

https://thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/490825-governors-win-high-marks-for-coronavirus-response-outpacing-trump

And as for Donnie's ratings? Bad, very bad....

https://www.axios.com/trump-coronavirus-pew-poll-early-action-76848540-c0c2-4bc4-b59f-cf4f651838bc.html

Go play golf Donnie - people are dying because of your incompetence - let the Governors and the other adults handle this...

2 ( +2 / -0 )

@bass4ffComing from the people that unsuccessfully tried and misused the Constitution to illegally remove the President..twice.

@Chip StarAnother example of displaying your ignorance of constitutional law. Keep it coming because I enjoy the laughs.

I disagree Chip Star. :) The poster who claimed the Constitution was 'misused' needs to cite how Trump's DOJ allowed that to happen. If the Constitution was violated under Trump's reign, it's on Trump.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

I know this is just politics because the coronavirus article on this same site about France has ZERO comments in over 5 hours. And France has more per capita deaths than the USA.

Need a tissue? You act as if you aren’t smack in the middle of “playing politics” with this.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Oh, ok so that will never happen, so moving right along to Trump re-opening the country.....

So you agree Donny’s socialist handouts won’t be paid for, which means they aren’t temporary.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

It's ironic that the very same commentators who dismiss protests against the rise of fascism as anarchists or paid actors, are backing these demonstrations.

Unless of course those commentators are just once again pouring fuel on fires in attempts to pit sides against each other.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Americans should not expect to be allowed to travel anywhere in the world the next 12-18 months. They have already been the major source of virus spread around the world, and the virus rages on uncontrolled in the US.

They had a chance early to control it, but now the place is falling apart.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

I see almost none of you in any of those articles except people whining about whether they will get a check as a gaijin or not.

Must be browsing another site, then.

People are concerned about their incomes, so it would make sense to enquire about the money and availability.

As pointed out numerous times, the goings-on in the US impact the wider world. If the self styled leadership of the free world insists on putting us all in danger, I and others will call it out.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

If these confederate flag waving people want to get out of this lockdown then they should get the lowest priority of all when it comes to medical attention should they get infected. Crazy country. No offence to the sensible half of the country.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

so broaden it and send it back to the court. Until then, the court decision stands. Do you really think they will try to apply this same order to factories and airports? no they wont.

If those factories and the airports are deemed essential services, I do. Churches are in no way, shape, or form essential. You can talk to your god in your own home.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

I don't recall suspending the Constitution to tell people what they can't do is OK anywhere in our Constitution.

It’s not, and neither is the right to privacy. However, as people with a clue about the the constitution know, both of those are the logical results of having a constitution and can be found in the jurisprudence spawned fe the constitution. Oh my.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

America's mayor is right on the money

He lost that title when you coughed up his integrity to Donny.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

They need the Capitalists to generate revenue so that they can siphon off from it to pay for their entitlements, now you would think they would be on the same page with this President, but......

You're confusing them with the big business mandarins getting bailed out by the corrupt regime.

Whilst the hospitals cry out for aid.

Money over life.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Interesting how deflection is the order of the day, "France", "Macron" and, er, "rouge".

For years and years, protest against racism, fascism, poverty and war have been sneered at by the far right.

They told us to get a job, cut our hair, and other tired clichés.

But suddenly, protests are now legitimate.

Its not just that the protests have a far right base. That's bad enough, but it's that the demonstrate want the right to infect their fellow citizens.

And if people don't like it, they can stay at home. A variation on the old "if you do like it, go live in Russia" mantra.

Simple question: why do you want people to perish?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Once again, Black, you’re only telling a fraction of the story:

*A federal court in Kansas issued a temporary restraining order Saturday against an executive order capping church gatherings at 10 people due to COVID-19, according to a local report.*

. . .

The judge noted that the order banned church gatherings but not similar public activities like crowds at airports or industrial facilities, violating both the First Amendment and a state religious freedom law, the paper reported.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.foxnews.com/us/judge-halts-kansas-gov-kelly-order-limiting-church-gatherings-10.amp

Broaden the order and it becomes constitutional.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

The rights of the few against the fears of the many. why did you omit the most important words?

Probably the same reason you cherry pick quotes from articles.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Tailoring the order to non-essential services/gatherings should do the trick.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

A variation on the old "if you do like it, go live in Russia" mantra.

Do? Don't!

Predictive text... bah!

0 ( +1 / -1 )

governments too quick sacrifice rights of the few to calm fears of the many

Favouring the few over the many kinda sounds like the anthithesis of a democracy. I wonder what that judge's opinion (or yours for that matter) on people wearing a hijab or a full burka is... Also that means we should completely abolish the TSA and have no security at airports at all?

0 ( +1 / -1 )

I dont have a right to bring a gun on a plane. Not in the Constitution that I can bring it everywhere, just that I can own it.

I do have a right to physically go to church. Especially if weed shops, liquor stores and lottery tickets are essential and have no such restrictions. churches can social distance just as the weed shop and supermarkets do.

Or the right to not go through a constraining security when boarding a plane against the fear of it exploding in the air.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

its a combo of many things; people with low skills who depend on service sector jobs, diet obesity etc.

This pandemic will be a game changer for jobs

It puts the gov in a tight spot. After seeing post interviews of people who had the virus, I think I would prefer to endure some social distancing awhile longer.

Its one nasty experience.

Interestingly, outdoor work would seem to be less contagious, maybe many will return to that, but puts migrants out of work.

Trump opens his mouth before he thinks allot but he always does the right thing later. Thing is, his hands are tied behind his back because no matter what he does, the goofies will crap on it, with the MSM to keep the cycle in play (as is self evident with the posters here).

The US will go through some pain but they will get through it.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Federal courts starting to overrule liberal government. Exactly this!

Today's judicial ruling is a much-needed reminder that the Constitution is not under a stay-home order and the Bill of Rights cannot be quarantined," he said. "The Constitution protects our liberties especially during times of crisis, when history reveals governments too quick to sacrifice rights of the few to calm fears of the many."

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

America's mayor is right on the money

He lost that title when you coughed up his integrity to Donny.

He didn't do either of those things. You didn't even bother to watch the segment before spewing that.

Why do you think you won’t perish if you only go to the supermarket, liquor store, convenience store or weed shop (but not to work). Or if you are exercising or dog walking. All these we are fine, right? Oh and get deliveries wrapped in plastic and in cardboard boxes. Totally safe, no?

Simple question: why do you want people to perish?

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

The rights of the few against the fears of the many. why did you omit the most important words?

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

dont realize that most laws are written with the intent of protecting either "minorities" or "the minority" from the oppression of the majority, dont you?

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

so broaden it and send it back to the court. Until then, the court decision stands. Do you really think they will try to apply this same order to factories and airports? no they wont.

Broaden the order and it becomes constitutional.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

What “we” want: to go back to work and have our rights and liberties restored.

what “you” want: a government check every month, universal basic income, student debt forgiveness, shutdown until after the election, voting systems changes, vaccines with tracking, continued surveillance

i am proud to be part of “we”.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

its not what the American people want because you are using this “opportunity” if coronavirus to sneak them into legislation meant to help businesses and people get back to work.

How are any of these things bad, exactly?

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

So can we get back to the actual topic now?

Been there for awhile. It doesn't matter what subject is reported in the story. The real topic is, and will always be "Orange Man Bad"

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

“LIBERATE MINNESOTA!” “LIBERATE MICHIGAN!” “LIBERATE VIRGINIA, ” Trump said in a tweet-storm in which he also lashed out at New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat, for criticizing the federal response. Cuomo “should spend more time ‘doing’ and less time ‘complaining,’” the president said.

Exactly, exactly.

I don’t recall the freedom to infect others anywhere in our Constitution.

I don't recall suspending the Constitution to tell people what they can't do is OK anywhere in our Constitution.

Ttump approval rating dropping like a stone on the pond. Down to 42%.

For what it's worth, the RCP average has Biden and Trump both at 45.7% approval.

They also have Biden with a 5.5 spread over Trump, which we all know is bogus, so...

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

I didn’t claim any such thing. I said will of the people. Every vote matters every voice matters.

Also, we were criticizing you for having claimed a “majority” of citizen had joined these protests.

and our liberties are not overridden by state governors politically based decisions. Sorry.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Yep. Shows a decline.

2-3 points, so in almost 4 years the man never got below 30’s so given the circumstances for hovering around 47% that’s very good.

Trump approval rating dropping like a stone on the pond. Down to 42%

Not according to Real Clear politics

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

polls, unemployment rate, death count, shelter in place, stock market, mocking protestors, “temporary” denial of rights. All used as snarky attacks during this time of crisis.

cause none of this even about coronavirus.. None of these people post on any other countries articles, even their own countries. Only post on Japan articles whining about if they will get a government check.

all about making as much damage for the election and creating as many “opportunities” as possible by adding them to the supposed “solution” to coronavirus.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

So can we get back to the actual topic now? Since when are liberals against lawful protest?

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

I know this is just politics because the coronavirus article on this same site about France has ZERO comments in over 5 hours. And France has more per capita deaths than the USA.

please meet me there to blame the French President for his response to this crisis as well.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Regardless the protests have put governors on notice as to the will of the people they govern. It has already lead to positive changes in reopening dates and loosening of overly restrictive closures.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

love how protests are invalid now and don’t matter unless you are the “majority”. trump makes people take the strangest positions just to stand in opposition.

an entire article commented on in politically biased way by mostly non Americans telling us what the American political system should be. Voicing their disapproval of someone in Michigan wanting to go back to work.

the France article remains yet empty. Hong Kong democracy activists arrested. No care. But Orangemanbad lives on, from non citizens and USA apologists.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

So in conclusion....stay home.

“we” are restarting our lives and reclaiming our rights and liberties. If you don’t go outside you can’t be infected by “us”.

but you already going to the supermarket and weed store and liquor store and accepting deliveries now.

so not like you are safe even under shelter in place. So please don’t go outside at all until after the election. See you then.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

It should be an individual choice.

If you wish to stay at home, do so.

If you wish to go for a walk, do so.

If you wish to socialize with a group of your friends, do so.

Nobody should be telling anybody else how to live their lives.

I totally agree with you 100% provided you’ve been tested and cleared and follow the safety social distancing, you should be able to go out.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

So what do you want Trump to do? Sell all his property and give to you?

The people probably most prepared for this were the Preppers. Got his bunker dug out, pharmacy, 6 mos of food, inverter. Its the people that were living on Trumps economy like uber drivers etc that didnt plan. If you dont have a pension or other income, your looking at 1 or 2 months, then your out.

The ones who prepared, they can even create micro economies trading with each other

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

And as for Donnie's ratings? Bad, very bad....

Sorry, Trump’s 47% is an accumulative poll of all the polls combined and Axios is one of them, nice try. Lol

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

Accumulation is the right word choice - accumulation of BS...

So now The nations go to political go to site is now wrong? Darn them. Lol

A new Gallup survey......

STOP! Gallup is also included in that accumulation. So he stands as of today 47.4% which is pretty good for the msm and liberal beatdowns he’s getting from you guys. Lol

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

No, I am just identifying that when it’s your issue, none of you have been dismissive of a protest when yours didn’t have a “majority” in attendance.

good to hear the clarification that makes all your past and future protests just as invalid as these.

just stay home, we will call you after we reopen the country and the economy for you.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

how does my people going back to work in Michigan affect you as a non citizen of my country presumably living in Japan?

wouldn’t your efforts be more fruitful bad mouthing Abe and Japan instead?

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

The actions of this currently rogue administration affect all of us. Trump supporters should not act surprised that the resistance is worldwide.

Great Satan, rouge? Well, the world can resist, Trump just needs to only focus on getting the country up and going again.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

The article is about the US so my responses relate to the USA.

I also have an opinion about Japan, which I share in the Japan related articles. I see almost none of you in any of those articles except people whining about whether they will get a check as a gaijin or not.

The resistance type responses prove that this isnt even about coronavirus. If it were, someone would care that France now has 20,000 deaths and would have some comment about this same topic, but in France,

Again, most of Europe has more capita deaths than the USA. those countries are also reopening in stages. total silence from nearly all of you non citizens about anything but USA topics.

Fauci;

https://nypost.com/2020/04/17/fauci-says-critics-wrong-that-testing-is-everything-to-reopen/

Fauci, who enjoys broad respect among Democrats for his willingness to contradict President Trump, said testing concerns are over-hyped as Trump proposes that states pursue a phased reopening.

“The emphasis that we’ve been hearing is essentially ‘testing is everything’ and it isn’t,” Fauci said Friday night at a White House press conference.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

no one is taking away your right to stay home as we go back to work. Dont want to interact with us, stay home.

Except the majority of Americans whose rights you would take away, as you state above...

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

In Texas, several hundred people rallied on steps of the state Capitol to call for an end to social restrictions. Many protesters sought an immediate lifting of restrictions and chanted “Let us work!” in a state where more than 1 million people have filed for unemployment since the crisis began.

I hope there will be more and more until freedom is back in full exercise for everyone.

ARTICLE 1; First Amendment

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

So people who work at nursing homes or visit them....stay home.

with nursing home residents accounting for more than 90 of the state’s 118 deaths.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

Then why did the candidates who ran on these issues lose the primary in their own party? It’s like saying Dems wanted a minority woman and then only 1% voted for one. You obviously don’t want things if people don’t vote for them.

Maybe you souldn't generalize your opinions to those of +300 millions people?

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

The same people that will pay for Two Trillion Dollar Deficit Donny’s socialist handouts that you are okay with because they are temporary, which means you were okay with Obama's stimulus.

Oh, ok so that will never happen, so moving right along to Trump re-opening the country.....

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

And to prove our point we're going to get our guns and clubs and go down and ransack City Hall...

Anarchists...

Anarchists...Standing in the way of the President trying to re-open the country. It benefits socialists as well. They need the Capitalists to generate revenue so that they can siphon off from it to pay for their entitlements, now you would think they would be on the same page with this President, but......

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

That is entirely the fault of this one man.

Wow that was easy.

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

The Trump admin, i.e Trump and factotums, cut back on spending for healthcare infrastructure. Bush 43 and Obama both warned about the possibility of a pandemic and the need to be properly prepared for it.

But neither did, neither pushed to get the country ready for it.

And Trump said no one thought a pandemic could happen? And his media spokespeople parrot him to their fellow true believers.

Yes, especially when Obama didn’t even try pushing this, but he pushed a lot for paying your fair share, that was his biggest priority.

This is just total nonsense. People forgave Trump for the slow response and that reflected in the polls, they know especially in NY medical professionals like Dr. Barbot and DeBlasio, Cuomo and even Pelosi botched this badly in the beginning. The ONLY that have that on their minds are the haters that dream only about getting Trump out of office. You keep saying this, if the country would blame him for this virus and deaths, Trump wouldn’t be anywhere in the 40’s polling given these crime circumstances with death and a shattered economy, but having said that, if Trump doesn’t get the country open in some form and some people back to work then there is that possibility his Presidency could be in danger.

Trump is odd man out as approval ratings soar for world leaders’ handling of the coronavirus pandemic

Good For them, they should do whatever is right for their country. I could care less. Trump is responsible for America.

It’s comedic reading conservative posters display their utter lack of knowledge regarding constitutional law.

Coming from the people that unsuccessfully tried and misused the Constitution to illegally remove the President..twice.

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

How inconvenient to the narrative.

“Adjusted for population, U.S. COVID-19 deaths (fatalities per million) are lower than every Western European country -- including Britain, Spain, Italy & France -- except for Germany. And USA's testing rate per million is higher than Britain, Spain, France & Switzerland”

yet only the USA articles get more than 5 or 10 comments. So it’s not even really about coronavirus at all, is it?

-11 ( +0 / -11 )

in all likelihood the world will recover faster and open trade with likeminded nations while the USA flounders.

you got it backwards. All of your new virus drugs are coming out of the US, exception Oxford. They will make a breakthrough.

The US will tank, then rebound, then the rest follow our lead. Its the way its always been, look towards the US for hope after we put in all the work.

Sánchez announced in a televised news conference late Saturday that the government would allow children “to get out of their houses for a period on a daily basis,” but the specifics needed to be ironed out with experts.

Thats insane,

Spain is telling these kids that people will die if they even take one step out of the house.

Sounds like prison.

But out of the good graces of the government, they're gonna get an hour of probation to take walk around the perimeter.

People are going to remember how the government overreacted and how their freedoms were taken away

-16 ( +1 / -17 )

The elite running corporations will use much of the 'free stuff' bailout moneys they're getting to invest in automation, eliminating even more jobs

automation is the future, and the point of my post was people who depend on service sector jobs, need to retool and train for programming and electronics. Obama pushed allot of retraining hype but none of it resulted in much. Now Dems are busy blaming, which is to be expected. Having lived in a Dem controlled city, I can tell you that their idea of providing jobs or collecting tax revenue for their corrupt administrations, is to build a dog or horse racing track. Bingo, loan sharks, and other schemes followed. These places are being hit hard by this virus, but as usual the Dem clowns are busy blaming.

Two thirds of Americans are perfectly okay with being locked in their homes with no way to earn an income for food and rent, and will use the excuse “cant work if you’re dead!” As a cope.

Yeah, you also can’t work if you’re dead from starvation and homelessness. No, the government is not going to provide for you. No, its not possible for everyone to get unemployment. No, not everyone has a landlord that will obey the eviction laws, or not sue you for everything you owe when this is over.

Most Americans are easily agreeable, defeated and scared sheep. Call me whatever you want, it wont change the reality thats coming.
