Sounds treasonous to me. Not the first time he's told state secrets or put government officials and troops in danger.

The Trump administration is the greatest security threat this nation faces.

The kids in the Washington Sandpit are quickly escalating their squabbles turning now to vicious mud-slinging. This can't go on for much longer before the adults step in. Trump is now surely a cert for the Time Person of the Year 2019. Can't wait to see the picture of Benedict Arnold's orange avatar getting the bum's rush outa la Casa Blanca.

Quit while you're ahead Nancy. You are grasping at straws. It's ironic how worried she is about her own security but could care less about the those thousands of Americans killed, raped, and assaulted by illegal aliens. She should run for office in Guatemala - she is much more concerned about their well being than her fellow citizens.

Under no circumstances during a government shutdown will any government owned, rented, leased, or chartered aircraft support any Congressional delegation, without the express written approval of the White House Chief of Staff

I don't think that it's legally possible for a president to prohibit congressional use of government aircraft not controlled by the executive branch.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

No, Nancy. Telling everyone your trip is cancelled is actually the safest method. You simply don’t go and you let the military continue their mission without you being in the way.

As far as NATO you don’t need to go speak to them on behalf of anyone, the President does that. Do other countries have their opposition party just swing by NATO and undermine their leader? Nope!

-5 ( +4 / -9 )

Sounds treasonous to me. Not the first time he's told state secrets or put government officials and troops in danger.

So you then agree with me, Comey, the media, Feinstein are exceptionally treasonous and were a serious danger to the President as well as the Now Justice Kavanaugh. Now you guys understand the outrage.

The Trump administration is the greatest security threat this nation faces.

I think the Democrats in general and their radical progressive Marxist ideology are the imminent and destructive force to the American nation.

-7 ( +3 / -10 )

Not sure what Nancy's complaining about considering the flight never happened because she and her merry band of military haters were placed on a POTUS No Fly list.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

What he did was Nothing short of treason, once again. The man is clearly unfit to be in any job capacity, let alone president. He did this as a schoolyard retort, has denied the troops, and gave away classified information to the public in his little tantrum. What's more, he did this just after HE did what was Nothing more than a PR trip to Iraq, DURING THE SHUTDOWN, on a military jet.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

What he did was Nothing short of treason, once again.

Well, since the Dems prefer open borders, I think that’s full on open and unapologetic treason.

The man is clearly unfit to be in any job capacity, let alone president.

Can we fire every single Democrat in Congress? We really don’t need or want to be another Cuba, if the Dems like Socialism so much they as well as Michael Moore should relocate and live there, they should be happy and content being over there.

He did this as a schoolyard retort, has denied the troops, and gave away classified information to the public in his little tantrum. What's more, he did this just after HE did what was Nothing more than a PR trip to Iraq, DURING THE SHUTDOWN, on a military jet

You don’t think it’s odd seeing Pelosi spending time with the troops? Usually the Democrats want nothing to do with the military. Before they were anti-war and now they want to stay in Syria, never cared about the veterans, mocked and ridiculed them from Vietnam until the present and now they want demand that proper care is given to them and the VA hospitals, I mean, they still don’t want recruiters to come on campus, but they got so hawkish and interested in our brave men and women, why? It just doesn’t make any sense.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

This is ridiculous. Pelosi is delusional. She should be removed from office.

The Trump administration is the greatest security threat this nation faces.

Pffft! Trump's not the one who sent emails with classified info on an unencrypted private server.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Loving all this its getting more entertaining by the day

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Nancy just mad she can’t charge the taxpayers $101,000 for her booze on the trip. Worse than a boondoggle it’s a boozedoggle.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

That someone in the Trump administration may have leaked details of the Congressional delegation itinerary to a war zone is a very serious allegation. It will be investigated, and if found true, there will be repercussions.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Yet the same day, Milania Trump was flown to Miami in a military aircraft, ?? not mentioned in this article.

That’s rich! Liberals worried about leaks when it involves liberals. Too funny.

It will be investigated, and if found true, there will be repercussions.

I don’t think so, the liberals, media and so many of Obama holdovers as well as Comey and Ohr leaked information and nothing happened, so don’t hold your breath.

Quit while you're ahead Nancy. You are grasping at straws. It's ironic how worried she is about her own security but could care less about the those thousands of Americans killed, raped, and assaulted by illegal aliens............"

Any actual data on those figures Wolfpack?

I was under the impression that by far the majority of the tens of 1,000s of Americans killed every year by guns (just for starters) were slain by legal Americans. You know - bona fide good guys & gals.

But I'm open to accepting new evidence. Seriously.

Please detail.

And re Pelosis cancelled flight by the Big Boppers blanket ban on travel during the shutdown.

It's stranger than fiction that the 1st lady Melania flew to her holiday home @ Mar a Lago on a military aircraft at a cost of $35,000 - after the ban was put in place.

Probably too dangerous to travel any other way - what with all the illegals about.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

It's ironic how worried she is about her own security but could care less about the those thousands of Americans killed, raped, and assaulted by illegal aliens.

It's not ironic because she does care about the safety of Americans. You conservatives simply can't argue based in reality.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

This idiot colludes with Russia during the campaign, shares sensitive classified Israeli intelligence with the Russian Ambassador, now leaks sensitive trip data - no wonder McMaster, Kelly and Mattis left - they don't want to have anything to do with this traitor...

A danger to the republic indeed...

@browny1: Any actual data on those figures Wolfpack?

In Texas alone, between 2011 and 2018 there were 663,000 criminal offenses. Over 1,300 murders and more than 7,000 sexual assaults. Every one of these crimes should never have occurred and would not have occurred without the presence of an illegal migrant.

Scroll to the bottom for a partial listing of the more serious crimes committed:

https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/departments-justice-and-homeland-security-release-quarterly-alien-incarceration-report

Remember this is just one state. 1,300 people dead. Thousands of rapes. Hundreds of thousands of other crimes that otherwise never would have occurred. That’s a huge impact on the state.

But I'm open to accepting new evidence. Seriously.

Please detail.

It’s nice to encounter someone who is actually open to persuasion. The problem with getting a grasp on the full extent of the illegal migrant crime problem is due to the fact that there are many states, cities and other jurisdictions that refuse to provide data to the government in order to obscure the full extent of the problem. For any number of reasons, ideologues on both the right and the left prefer the status quo regardless of the social and human costs.

It is beyond me how people would want this for their states and communities.

As for Pelosi’s cancelled flight to Europe and the Middle East, she should have considered that her petty retraction of her State of the Union invitation could result in a petty reaction. After all, we are talking about Trump here. She invited her grounding by her own short sighted attack.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Every one of these crimes should never have occurred and would not have occurred without the presence of an illegal migrant.

You may want to re-read the report you cited so you know this conclusion is inaccurate. The report does not breakdown whether the crimes were committed by documented or undocumented immigrants.

Yeah? How? Details please and by the way, be specific. Please educate me as to exactly where she has shown to have done something to improve the safety of the country and to our borders. Give me taste of reality.

We regularly show you reality and you just ignore it and keep repeating the same things that are shown to not be reality.

The important thing here... is... that it is Reuters' article.

And the fact that the issue at hand is "ending the shutdown".

To do that in Congress right now.., BOTH parties must be "present" and "willing" to come to terms, not necessarily "agree" to "act" reasonably and rationally to "negotiate" a meaningful compromise "immediately". The point is, "avoidance" only "extends" the shutdown. And such action indicates "disrespect" and "disregard" for those who are affected by the shutdown. It is not "who" started or is the cause of the shutdown. The fact is the shutdown is "on." Now it takes "action" and not preconditioned negotiations or rhetoric to accuse each other and blame any political party.

Otherwise there is apparently "not" going to be an amicable and meaningful end to the shutdown.

Any effort to undermine each other really shows that the politicians themselves are not really concerned about the nation as a whole but their own political objectives and biases.

Some of my middle school students (in Japan and not US) when given both sides of the story, commented: "US politics is so very childish, and worse than even Japan."

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

sorry... typo above...

"To do that in Congress right now.., BOTH parties must be "present" and "willing" to come to terms, not necessarily "agree" BUT, to "act" reasonably and rationally to "negotiate" a meaningful compromise "immediately".

the "but", was missing...

wolfpack - thank you for those stats.

It certainly appears illegal aliens in Texas have committed terrible acts, including murder. Must be tough to live in some regions of the state. And without doubt, something should be realistically done to reduce these statistics, as should be done everywhere in the US, because Texas is not even close to being the worst violent crime state.

So looking at solutions to the enormous problem, "border security", a term wide in it's definition and implications, will need to be reviewed, enhanced, up-dated, regulated, reviewed again & again for sure. No one is discounting that. No one - except the criminals. What then is the most cost effective, humanitarian system to resolve the issue?

Suffering people from poor, violent backgrounds will always want to escape their hells. They will always want to come to a better place, a place of their dreams (eg US) and looking at world demographics, they will.

To what extent will an inflexible solid wall solve the problem along the southern US border? It may successfully "stop" real immigrants / refugees - harmless people, but how effective will it be against criminals? That's the question - how effective? In modern history even the tiny by comparison Berlin Wall was as porous as chicken wire. I can only presume foreign criminal elements - legal & illegal - exist in the US in their 100,000s either through "mafia" style networks, gangs or individuals and most of these wouldn't be put off by an immovable object. Just simply change the point of entry.

So how much better would the $Billions - and it will be Big, Big $Billions not a simple $5.7 - be spent on a myriad of other border security measures along the southern border and other borders. Of course recently Trump has said money will be available for other securities etc as well, but the reality is he wants to spend the majority on a wall. That's a fact. The real criminals will love that. It will make all the other entry areas easier to access and cross over.

Sadly now this whole issue is down to Trump hating to lose. No one does, but it's been part of his persona since dot. Just this morning on tv he said it again "...the greatest humanitarian crisis facing the US...". Well no. Not everyone believes that. Terrible yes. But the greatest....? As I said earlier,  Crime by US citizens upon Us citizens esp murder by guns, is a humanitarian crisis. Trump's obstinacy knows no boundaries. He doesn't have the numbers (he did for 2 years) and now he cries unfair. If he took a step down off his high horse, maybe a solution could be at hand.

Chip: You may want to re-read the report you cited so you know this conclusion is inaccurate. The report does not breakdown whether the crimes were committed by documented or undocumented immigrants.*

Wow, just wow. Not only does the Left ignore reality but they ignore government statistics and mischaracterize them intentionally so as to maintain their bubble of self delusion. Amazing to see someone gaslight themself.

You forgot to note that 93% of the crimes in the report are attributed to illegal migrants. Only 7% are by those legally present. This is no small number and shows that illegals are much more likely to be involved in criminal activity than legal immigrants. Here’s another statistic for you, 21% of those in federal prison are in the country illegally. That’s no small number either. America is being burdened with the problems of other nations. With cities like San Francisco overwhelmed by illegals and the streets covered with human waste, how much more of other nations problems are Americans supposed to be held responsible for?

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

browny1: What then is the most cost effective, humanitarian system to resolve the issue?

A combination of physical barriers, staffing, surveillance, and technology like drones and sensors to detect and respond to illegal activity. If those in other countries know that it is futile to attempt to enter the US illegally, a lot fewer people will be trafficked and in the process, robbed, raped, and assaulted along the way.

Suffering people from poor, violent backgrounds will always want to escape their hells. They will always want to come to a better place, a place of their dreams (eg US) and looking at world demographics, they will.

No one can blame people wanting a better life for themselves and their children. There are poor people over the planet by the hundreds of millions that would rather be in a country like the US or in Europe rather than in the dysfunctional nations that live in. Why should a poor family from Tiajuana have any greater claim to a better life than a poor family in the Philippines? They don’t - and unless an orderly system is in place and strictly enforced you will have the horrendously unfair system that exists today.

A quality barrier is an important piece of an overall system of deterrence. When Obama was President he didn’t tear down the barrier around the White House. People could use a ladder or climb the fence in order to threaten the first family. But he kept it despite it’s symbolic divisiveness because it is a legitimate part of an overall security plan.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

A quality barrier is an important piece of an overall system of deterrence.

A quality barrier is a boondoggle that will be ineffective towards the stated goal, a financial boondoggle to build, a financial boondoggle to maintain, and an ecological disaster. It's also a boondoggle THE PEOPLE DON'T WANT.

Why don't Republican's care what the people want? Why do they think they are more important than the majority of Americans?

0 ( +1 / -1 )

wolfpack - thanks.

But I didn't read anything convincing that the $billions & $billions to be spent on a very long solid wall will be money well spent.

As I said - criminals will find another way. I can't imagine them coming up to The Wall and saying "Gee, better cross the US off our list, no way we can get in now".

And the relevance of the white house barrier is lost on me, seeing it's only a coupla ks and arguably one of the most heavily guarded, protected places on the planet.

This shutdown is now not about border security, but rather Trump not losing face. He had his chance, he blew it. Simple. Now he's sulking and eating burgers 3 x day to show he's suffering with the people. lol.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

And the relevance of the white house barrier is lost on me, seeing it's only a coupla ks and arguably one of the most heavily guarded, protected places on the planet.

Ok - do you have a better alternative? In my opinion more substantial and strategically placed barrier is an essential part of an overall border security plan. No one is even suggesting any alternative solution anywhere as close to realistic as a physical barrier. It’s not a silver bullet; but in a nation where lawlessness has become accepted on a large scale by both those coming in illegally and those citizens that stand to benefit by the exploitation of these unfortunate people I see few other realistic alternatives. Neither Pelosi or Schumer have suggested any.

There are anywhere between 12 and 22 million illegal migrants in America today. Schools and social services are severely strained by this additional load of illegally present people. A cost surely many times in excess of the cost of a strategically placed barrier system.

One of the most disturbing things is the massive disrespect and disregard for American law and people. It is also highly disrespectful to those who migrated legally. It makes me wonder why American citizens would want to respect the rule of law when non-citizens are tolerated in their law breaking and even encouraged by selfish parties on both the Left and Right? This failure needs to be corrected. Otherwise instead of foolishly following the law even when no one is looking, the message is to take what you can get if you can get away with it. Who could expect a struggling citizen in an atmosphere of lawlessness on the part of non-citizens to not do the same? Should we assume the law only applies to citizens? Are Americans asking for the enforcement of an orderly immigration system any worse than Canadians or south Africans? I don’t think so.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

There are anywhere between 12 and 22 million illegal migrants in America today. Schools and social services are severely strained by this additional load of illegally present people. A cost surely many times in excess of the cost of a strategically placed barrier system.

Your concerns are valid.

However, you seem to be implying (correct me if I'm wrong) that building the wall will remove the costs of having those 12 to 22 million illegal immigrants in America.

This is a little over-simplistic. First of all, the wall will only cut down on the number of illegal immigrants coming over the southern border. It will not prevent illegal immigrants from sneaking in overall. So there will still be costs associated with having illegal say 5-10 million illegal immigrants in the country, as well as the cost of building the wall, as well as the cost of maintaining the wall, as well as the costs of dealing with the ecological disaster created by disrupting land animals migration paths, as well as flooding.

The problem is that your team has conflated your concerns, and the wall, as being one and the same. So either people agree with you and want the wall, or if they don't want the wall, you have decided they don't care about your concerns.

The problem here is this binary you're with us or you're against us stance, which leaves no room for compromise. If people don't agree with you on your methodology (the wall), they are the enemy. It goes right up to Trump, with his 'I get the wall or nothing' binary stance. It leaves no room for compromise, no room for negotiation. Then he and you guys claim that the other team won't compromise. Compromise does not mean one side comes 100% over to the other side. But with a binary position of with us or against us, those are the only two options.

Compromise cannot exist in a binary set of options. Trump and the right have defined the options as being binary. Therefore Trump and the right have no place to complain about compromise, as they are the ones who have created an environment antithetical to compromise.
