This should cost him a couple of million

I don’t think there is any uncertainty at all. The DOJ simply cannot as a matter of policy allow a legal subpoena to be ignored by someone who was nether an attorney for nor an employee of the FORMER administration, which in and of itself makes the entire claim of privilege moot.

Stevie B is going to testify or face the consequences.

12 ( +20 / -8 )

Good. Bannon needs to locked up until he agrees to testify.

The right wing nutters that fomented the insurrection by Trump supporters needs be be held accountable.

No, this is not a similar situation as with Eric Holder.

No, the insurrectionists weren’t just “walking around” inside the Capitol Building.

No, the due process rights of the insurrectionists that have been arrested have not been infringed.

Anyone who attempts to minimize this insurrection or excuse it clearly does not value our democratic republic.

17 ( +27 / -10 )

Bannon is deserving of all our contempt.

11 ( +20 / -9 )

What P said plus....

Those who seek to minimize or deflect from what was clearly an act of insurrection and domestic terrorism are suborning the destruction of democracy and the rule of law. In short, they’re fascists.

10 ( +20 / -10 )

Lock him up

9 ( +18 / -9 )

Republicans call it a “witch hunt,” say it is a waste of time and argue that Congress should be focusing on more important matters than the insurrection.

The most serious attack on American democracy in hundreds of years is not important enough for the GOP.

Not a surprise since most have more loyalty to putin than President Biden!!

11 ( +20 / -9 )

This should cost him a couple of million

it’ll cost the clueless GOP donors millions.

Liars and thief’s don’t pay for themselves!!!

8 ( +16 / -8 )

Still, the vote was 229-202 with all but nine GOP lawmakers who voted saying “no."

"Make it go away."

4 ( +12 / -8 )

Lock him up!

5 ( +15 / -10 )

Lots of down votes but nobody brave or stupid enough to defend the indefensible (yet).

1 ( +9 / -8 )

Go and get him as well as everyone else connected to this matter.

They don't deserve any better - lock 'em up!!

3 ( +11 / -8 )

Show up and say over and over:

"I have no clear recollection about that."

What's so hard?

Congress isn't a court. Contempt of congress is every American's right. A judge can hold someone in jail for contempt, not congress.

Now, let the DOJ press charges and take him to court for a criminal offense - then he can be fined and put in jail.

-3 ( +8 / -11 )

This should cost him a couple of million

Yeah, pay the fine and move on.

-10 ( +7 / -17 )

It doesn’t make anything “bipartisan” just because Liz Cheney is involved.

-10 ( +8 / -18 )

In the meantime there's an unused, empty jail cell under the Capitol where, if the Washington pols were serious about dealing with the present threat to American democracy (that nobody has ever seen before), they would bung Bannon using Congress's power of Inherent Contempt to signal and send shivers down the spines of all those right-wing would-be insurrectionists. The rat hole under the House is where Bannon belongs until he decides to ditch his omertà shtick and become a good, little pentito and do his patriotic duty to sing.

3 ( +7 / -4 )

Bass,

Its not a fine. He’s going to testify or he’s going to jail.

You seem fine with admitting guilt as long as it results in only a fine (which this one doesn’t).

He’s still guilty.

10 ( +13 / -3 )

Its not a fine. He’s going to testify or he’s going to jail.

He’s fine, he’s not going to jail. Again, you have been saying this before we even had a smartphone and each and every single time, it’s like that old Huey Lewis song: This is it. But yeah, this time. Lol

You seem fine with admitting guilt as long as it results in only a fine (which this one doesn’t).

Well, besides blood what else do the Dems want?

He’s still guilty.

Of what???? In the US you have to be convicted of a crime to be guilty of something

-11 ( +5 / -16 )

Same RINO names same song.

they won’t survive an election. Some already quit or had Dems gerrymander their district out of existence. Yet still vote to help the other team to the bitter end.

-12 ( +4 / -16 )

It doesn’t make anything “bipartisan” just because Liz Cheney is involved.

Cheney wasn't the only Republican who voted to hold Bannon in contempt of congress, come on now.

Same RINO names same song.

Love the purity test. Anyone who doesn't suck up to and sing the praises of Trump is a RINO. Get real.

Yet still vote to help the other team to the bitter end.

You know, there may be a point when Congress changes hands, and they'll want to investigate. They're worried about eroding the power wielded by Congress, not just "helping the other team till the bitter end."

3 ( +9 / -6 )

He’s fine, he’s not going to jail. Again, you have been saying this before we even had a smartphone and each and every single time, it’s like that old Huey Lewis song: This is it. But yeah, this time. Lol

It doesn’t make anything “bipartisan” just because Liz Cheney is involved.

Such a strong defense of Bannon - interesting, I guess they also believed him when he said;

“This is where it isn’t a witch hunt—even for the hard-core, this is where he (Trump) turns into just a crooked business guy, and one worth $50m instead of $10bn, Not the billionaire he said he was, just another scumbag.”

The Trump Org is a "criminal enterprise".....

Don Jr and Jared "committed treason" when they met the Russian agent at Trump Tower...

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/may/28/bannon-trump-organization-criminal-enterprise-comments-michael-wolff-book

Bannon speaks truth, right Trump supporters?

6 ( +9 / -3 )

Bannon has a lot of formers to his credit. Seems he is not very good at things and keeps needing a new con. Pretty soon (in geological terms anyway) he will be a convicted felon and former inmate.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Liz is out raising her likely competitor, by a wide margin.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

So you buy elections now?

it’s irrelevant how much money Democrats donated to keep Cheney there so that articles can say “bipartisan”.

-13 ( +3 / -16 )

Cheney wasn't the only Republican who voted to hold Bannon in contempt of congress, come on now.

Cheney will be a distant memory next year.

Love the purity test. Anyone who doesn't suck up to and sing the praises of Trump is a RINO. Get real.

She is, on everything else.

> You know, there may be a point when Congress changes hands, and they'll want to investigate.

They did investigate and while China is creating a hypersonic missile and challenging American regional supremacy, the Dems are worried only about 1/6 and nothing else.

They're worried about eroding the power wielded by Congress,

Uhhh, actually the Dems are going to lose all their power starting next year so the GOO are not worried at all. Quite the opposite.

-13 ( +2 / -15 )

Cheney will be a distant memory next year.

Maybe. Maybe not. She's currently outraising her opponent.

She is, on everything else.

You're going to have to be a bit more specific. What is "everything?" How exactly is she a RINO?

They did investigate and while China is creating a hypersonic missile and challenging American regional supremacy, the

I'm not talking about the past. I'm talking about the future, and the ramifications are for congress if witnesses can no longer be compelled to sit before congress. Surely you wouldn't be okay with this if the shoe were on the other foot.

Dems are worried only about 1/6 and nothing else.

And they're not wrong to be concerned about 1/6.

6 ( +9 / -3 )

So you buy elections now?

it’s irrelevant how much money Democrats donated to keep Cheney there so that articles can say “bipartisan”.

Republican: We should allow unlimited donations to candidates. People should be allowed to spend their money on any campaign they want.

American people: donate money to someone not in the Trump cult

Republican: No not like that.

7 ( +11 / -4 )

A nice start to the morning. Looking forward to how this develops. Not surprising to see the “law and order” conservatives trying to sweep this under the rug.

Lits of predictions for next year, smashing. We’ll be sure to remember those.

6 ( +9 / -3 )

Republican: We should allow unlimited donations to candidates. People should be allowed to spend their money on any campaign they want.

American people: donate money to someone not in the Trump cult

Republican: No not like that.

It is a bit frightening how anyone not in lockstep is being vilified.

The word ‘RINO’ is taking on the nuance of ‘infidel’, ‘pagan’ or ‘traitor’.

Trump made many of our conservatives on here do screaming U-turns on conservative principles almost overnight. The ‘lunatic fringe’ as one put it became the one true faith.

This is a cult.

7 ( +11 / -4 )

The fundamental belief of American conservatism is that the wealthy should be protected by the law, but not bound by it, while everyone else should be bound by the law, but not protected by it.

9 ( +13 / -4 )

Cheney will be a distant memory next year.

it’s irrelevant how much money Democrats donated to keep Cheney there so that articles can say “bipartisan”.

Isn't it hilarious, watching the Trump supporters here criticize and insult Liz Cheney, whose worst criticism of Trump was that he was "personally involved" in the planning for the Jan 6th insurrection.....

Yet they defend a guy that called Trump a "scumbag", said he heads a "criminal enterprise", and that his son is guilty of "treason"...

Tomorrow they'll be insulting Jim Jordan and defending Adam Schiff...

9 ( +11 / -2 )

Of what????

of refusing to answer to a congressional subpoena, which is a crime and can result in prison time.

so what about this dont you find illegal!?

6 ( +7 / -1 )

The fundamental belief of American conservatism

is self-contradiction is the norm

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Good! Throw this fascist cum bag in jail!!!

6 ( +8 / -2 )

SCUM LOL

4 ( +7 / -3 )

We really need an EDIT button!!!

8 ( +10 / -2 )

This is nothing less than a vote on Democracy in the U.S. The attack on the capital was an attack on the Democratic principals the U.S. is based on and it was fomented by the then President of the U.S. Donald Trump. This will be a worse black stain on the Republican Party that Watergate ever was and will never be forgotten.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

of refusing to answer to a congressional subpoena, which is a crime and can result in prison time.

so what about this dont you find illegal!?

The law and order Republicans on this website believe that Trump and his allies should be above the law. That's all there is to it.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

It doesn’t make anything “bipartisan” just because Liz Cheney is involved

there are two republican's on the committee, the republican's had a chance to have 4 members on the committee they refused so got left out. 9 house republican's voted for the committee

7 ( +7 / -0 )

The world's worst legal analyst weighs in again.

Who?

Remember when you said Michael Cohen wouldn't get in trouble?

He’s an expendable lawyer, who is he again?

Please explain this to the "lock her up" crowd

She’s in prison?

-11 ( +1 / -12 )

Remember Citizens United? Money is speech?

I guess the GQP thought that only the Koch brothers would donate lots. Oops, as Rick Perry says....

And one would assume that donations are a function of both support and an educated bet on the future.

Seems like he backers know something Black doesn’t.

Shocker!

3 ( +3 / -0 )

The world's worst legal analyst weighs in again.

Who?

Referring to you. But you (probably) knew that. Playing cute isn’t really your thing.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

Uhhh, actually the Dems are going to lose all their power starting next year so the GOO are not worried at all. Quite the opposite.

and even if that happens what do the GQP expect to do while Biden is president.

GQP dont realize that the Dems can obstruct also LOL

9 ( +9 / -0 )

She’s in prison?

Hillary Clinton is not, in fact, in prison. But you and others in the Trump cult said that she should be arested and imprisoned without trial - or, "lock her up".

8 ( +10 / -2 )

Maybe. Maybe not. She's currently outraising her opponent.

Yes, doesn’t mean she’ll win, Hillary out-raised Trump as well, not to mention she was censured in her own home state.

You're going to have to be a bit more specific. What is "everything?" How exactly is she a RINO?

Being part of the old Washington establishment neocon, a dying breed…

I'm not talking about the past. I'm talking about the future,

I am as well and once again, the focus is not on the real threat which is China. Again, 2022 can’t come fast enough to get these Dems out.

And they're not wrong to be concerned about 1/6

As the GOP are not wrong to be concerned for the treatment of these Protesters by this DOJ

Hillary Clinton is not,

Exactly and Neither will Trump

-4 ( +4 / -8 )

Innocent until proven guilty. That is quite different than personal hate opinions.

Very true

-8 ( +3 / -11 )

Oops Joe messed it up:

Biden: Comment that DOJ should prosecute those who defy subpoenas 'not appropriate'

The way I said it was not appropriate,” Biden said on Thursday during a CNN town hall. “I should have chosen my words more wisely.”

Not what he said but the way he said it? Ummm Joe it’s WHAT you said.

-11 ( +0 / -11 )

Our American-hating “conservative” posters that claim to be patriots are in overdrive here.

Supporting keeping hidden the depth of Trump’s involvement in the January 6 attempt to overthrow the results of the most secure election in American history. The security if the election being demonstrated multiple times by the failed fishing expedition in Arizona and the multiple cases thrown out for lack of evidence of any fraud.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

yeah like that’s on topic.

Bifden after telling the whole world publicly last week his order for what he wants, now says:

“I have yet to talk to the attorney general about anything,” Biden said, adding that they will made a decision on their own.

After apology for saying something inappropriate, repeats it again in closing?

The president added that anyone who does not respond to a “legitimate committee” in Congress “should be held responsible.

this guy is a comms disaster!

-11 ( +0 / -11 )

Deflect, raise moral equivalence, cast doubt on known facts.

Says the people that want to focus on absolutely nothing else domestically and geopolitically. Again, 2022 can’t come fast enough. But yeah, keep the focus on Trump and 1/6 please!!!

https://www.bizpacreview.com/2021/09/20/analysis-indicates-dems-could-lose-41-house-seats-1137305/

-11 ( +0 / -11 )

back to the story, Joe ruined the whole thing by publicly announcing what he demands of his DOJ. he gave his orders he doesnt need to call anyone. Apologized for what he said, but then repeating it again right after. Good old Biden, never fails to mess up the comms.

-13 ( +0 / -13 )

But yeah, keep the focus on Trump and 1/6 please!!!

Trump and Bannon are doing a good job on that for us!

And in spite of what you say or think, there will be a reckoning for Trump and his gang of merry morons.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Put that dirt bag in an orange jumpsuit and send him to Guantanamo.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

back to the story

Indeed. Bannon defied a lawful subpoena. He has not executive or attorney client privilege. He has been found in contempt by a bi-partisan majority and is not going to face the consequences.

These are the facts and they are not in doubt no matter how hard the deflection crowd tries.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

yet the American people care less about this political theater than liberals do Hunter Biden selling art at a higher price than a Picasso.

Not on planet Earth. Don't know what reality you are inhabiting but it isn't this one.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Innocent until proven guilty. That is quite different than personal hate opinions.

The 3 syllable chants at the next rally will suffer for it.

”lock (him/her) up, after being found guilty by a court of law and judicial process!”

Doesn’t have quite the same ring to it eh.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

"The American People don't care. They really don't"

I will take that bet. I think that the American people deeply care about an act of domestic terrorism and insurrection to overthrow the legally elected government so that it cannot certify the results of a free and fair election.

And I think they really want to hear what a guy who said "Tomorrow all Hell is breaking loose!" has to say for himself.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

law and order” conservatives trying to sweep this under the rug.

The Republicans who still believe in law and order and have conservative values and politics are called RINOs by the Trump QGOP klan.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

All of the Trump supporters here think Bannon is a great guy...even when he;

Was arrested in August on charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering for his role in We Build The Wall, a private fundraising campaign for Trump’s border wall between the U.S. and Mexico (he pleaded not guilty to the charges). The organizers of the scheme allegedly defrauded their donors—who raised more than $25 million for the cause—by siphoning money for their own personal use, with Bannon reportedly receiving more than $1 million of the funds....

Called Trump a scumbag....

Said Trump's firing of the FBI director had been the biggest mistake in "modern political history"....

Accused Don Jr of being a traitor...

Of course, Trump also thinks highly of Bannon; "Steve Bannon has nothing to do with me or my presidency. When he was fired, he not only lost his job, he lost his mind," Mr Trump said in a statement on Wednesday.

So Bannon steals their money, calls their sainted leader a scumbag, and says his son is a traitor....and Trump supporters here defend him....

Welcome to MAGA-world....

8 ( +8 / -0 )

The Republicans who still believe in law and order and have conservative values and politics are called RINOs by the Trump QGOP klan.

Hmm, is that all you have? These RINO's don't believe in the rule of law, they just hate Trump and could care less what their constituents want and that's why these people will God willing be out of a job real soon. They don't get it, but once they get that unemployment check they just might.

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

Um, no you don’t, and yes you do. You’re own words prove you wrong.

No, you don't speak for me, I just don't like this admin, but you can be whatever you want politically even if I think the worst about liberal policies.

So Bannon steals their money, calls their sainted leader a scumbag, and says his son is a traitor....and Trump supporters here defend him....

Man, now if you would just feel the same about so many prominent Democrats that have stolen, taken bribes, and sold the nation down the river you would be really onto something, gotta be consistent

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

RINO is just an ‘adult’ way of saying “You’re not my friend anymore and can’t come to my birthday, and we’re having jelly and ice cream”.

Grow up.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Bannon refuses to honor congressional subpoena, is held in contempt for said refusal, with 9 republican votes.

so refusing a congressional subpoena is not contempt of congress?

we are so screwed…

the national populists no longer see the utility of the separation of powers

bass4funkToday  12:28 pm JST

Um, no you don’t, and yes you do. You’re own words prove you wrong.

No, you don't speak for me

indeed. You speak for you and your own words from the prove my point. RINOs, libs, ROFL, and on and on....

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Steve Bannon calls Trump a "scumbag" - and they defend him...

Been hearing a lot of backtalk chatter about Biden, especially coming from Bliken and Myorkas and they still defend him as well

Weak off-topic dodge - this article is about Bannon. Glad to see you agree with him when he said Trump is a scumbag...

Ted Cruz calls Trump a “pathological liar" and a "sniveling coward" - and they defend him...

What did Harris say about Biden again when he supported bussing back in the days of Jim Crow?

Ditto - Harris wasn't mentioned either. Bannon said the Trump Org is a criminal enterprise....BINGO Steve, you accurately predicted Weisselberg's arrest....

Yeah, I think liberals need to clean up their own tent before they start hurling boulders.

So Bannon's a hero when he called Trump a scumbag, runs a criminal enterprise, and Don Jr is a traitor.....OK, if you say so....

We'll be looking forward to your defense of Pelosi tomorrow when she calls Trump a con-man...
