Voters unambiguously rejected Corbyn's socialist program of nationalisations and colossal state spending, delivering Labour's worst result since 1935.

This is false and misleading. The entire election was about Brexit sentiment. Corbyn at first said he would resign to support the Brexit results, but then he was boxed in a corner when running for Prime Minister, so that if he went either way on Brexit, he would have lost huge support on either side. There was also a huge smear campaign by the right and corporate media.

The election wasn't a rejection of his policies. It was an exhausted electorate, right or wrong, wanting movement on Brexit. Labour policies are very popular among the working class, as they should be.

The puzzling question to come out of this extraordinary result must be where did all those 16 million Remain voters go? For the past 3 years I supported the idea that Labour should make the next election a de facto referendum, drawing a clear line in the sand, and should become the flagship party for these voters: Labour = Remain, Tories = Brexit, , a simple formula well within the comprehension of even the simplest voter. Corbyn was so vilified in all communication media that the choice was boiled down to an even more effectively simple, but powerfully emotional formula: WHO do you hate and despise the most? The spine tingles to contemplate the reality that even in 2019 Dr Goebbels still beats Hans Christian Andersen hands down, (arm raised), one-nil. As an after-thought, the consequences of this Tory landslide for poor Assange will soon be seen: Unlike Trump, Latinist Johnson doesn't need to google "quid pro quo" , and will most certainly stitch and serve up Assange on a platter of scapegoat to his American counterpart as a party favor, though.

And maybe Corbyn couldn't control the message about him, but let's face it - he never helped himself much. He totally screwed up the topic of anti-Semitism for instance.

In the naive efforts to undo the Blair years, the campaign 101 was thrown out.

Peter Mandelson and Alastair Campbell would never have allowed the message to slip away from Labour in the way that Corbyn's team did.

In reality out side the chattering classes living in the London upper middle class bubble the country was never that “divided”, there were those supporting remain and those supporting leave but without the rancour hyped by the metropolitan media. I know many who supported remain and I still go to dinner with them. There just isn’t the widespread rabid tribalism you see in some countries and the media portray to generate eye catching headlines.

If Jeremy Corbyn would actually resign, instead of just promising to resign sometime in the near/distant future, all political parties could work together to undo the last three years of gridlock, and hatred.

The Left hates democracy. The UK is joining the Socialists in America in their #resistance to election results. They want to force all individuals to acquiesce to their political ideology - but that’s not what democracy and freedom is about.
