Jordan has been a stabilizing factor in the Middle East. We've really messed with that region over the last years favoring the Saudis and Netanyahu who are the regional bullies.

The King is a member of the Hashemite clan and a direct descendant of Mohammed. As a Hashemite he is also not coincidentally a descendant of the former leaders of Mecca who helped the British overthrow the Ottoman Empire and who were in turn betrayed by them. The Hashemites were overthrown by The House of Saud - family of the current rulers of Arabia and who are also allied with the Wahhabi religious sect. This has directly impacted world history of course.

The Hashemite kings were installed in Iraq and Transjordan by the British as a reward for the help against the Ottomans. Iraq of course was taken over by the Ba’ath party. The first King of Transjordan was assassinated by a Palestinian and King Hussein was also targeted by them in the uprising known as Black September which eventually help spark the Lebanese civil war.

In short this is of world importance. Jordan has been a bedrock of the modern Middle East and a bridge both to the West and to history and the roots of Islam.

But it’s also in the maelstrom of tribal, religious and geopolitical conflict. Its regime is itself a reflection of the Arab emergence from the Turkish empire and part and parcel of British colonialism.

Look at the smirks in the pic. That’s a level of smarm usually reserved for failed Trump children.

Smuggle two truckloads of AK-47s into a middle eastern country and you've got a springboard to anarchy. Look at Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Gaza, Libya, Sudan, etc. Which country will be next?

Hang on. You call 4 years without a new stupid war in the region and peace agreements with the UAE, Oman, Morocco, Sudan, and another dozen potential countries "messed up"?

I wonder what your idea of not messed up is.

Western news sources have been reporting a tie to Saudi Arabia's MBS trying to destabilize Jordan through this half brother of the king but no mention of this here.

I have the feeling that 'zero hour' refers to either the time the greenback bubble bursts, the time Iran officially becomes a BRI member, the time the ICC issues a formal finding against the Israeli regime, or the time the US or Israel tips Iran into a hot war.

All these things are 'zero hour events', or 'tipping point events' that can be predicted to be imminent, but not be predicted to have been triggered, and which produce sudden, massive changes that can't be undone.

And the Prince (biting back the urge to call him half blood prince) was trying to put contingency plans in place, contingency plans who's existence would be politically explosive to the regime's relationships.
