Shows the idiocy of the Democrats. Shut down a pipeline to bring oil from a friendly, democratic neighbour. Restrict development domestically. Result? Beg autocracies and dictators to produce oil to make up the shortfall. Good call there, Cadet Wheezy.

Big parts of the forest fire problems are: humans living in/close to forests, poor conservation and management strategies, inadequate supervision of public lands.

We've heard this all before.

And could that buffoon not take the train back to London instead of flying? Hypocrites.

Australian scientists say feeding cows with garlic reduces their methane.

Yeah, they fart less, but man, do they get bad breath!!!

Forests are important ecosystems and provide a critical way of absorbing carbon dioxide..

The spin in this article is obvious, majority of the flora on this planet needs carbon dioxide for survival, CO2 is a life sustaining gas, so reducing CO2 has been subtly thrown out..

Umm, water is a life sustaining liquid, but when you are under it, you drown.

and focus has shifted to real greenhouse gases like methane.. not bad.. methane emissions definitely need to cut.. start by banning fracking..

Agreed. But CO2 is worse than methane because CO2 stays around longer.

Over 400 PRIVATE JETS were flown to transport the elites to the very expensive event. Their outsized carbon footprints speak volumes...

Not great, but kind of irrelevant...

-to halt and reverse deforestation by 2030.

Why wait? Do it now.

If your home was on fire, you wouldn't make a note in your diary to call the fire brigade next March.

If they wanted to reduce emissions, governments would have been rolling out EV charging infrastructure over the last few years and it would now be in place. They have hardly begun. It's pathetic. Covid has moved people from greener public transport back to their polluting ICE cars, negating any benefits from home-working.

And if the US do not do stuff now, Trump will just get back in and block it.

Why people are downvoting these types of answers with sources is beyond me!

And when they stop all animal farming and have not achieve their goal, what next ??? get rid of the native animals ??? Like I said Climate warriors are a bunch of sickos.

"To be fair, the acreage of forests has not declined", haha, I guess I can say gas prices have not "declined" also.

Would you be so kind as to cite some sources? I have not heard or read anyone claim the US does anything but a miserable job of managing its forests. And at least in the western US the frequency and size of forest fires has greatly increased in the past decade.

To be fair, the acreage of forests has not declined. Here is a reputable source to that:

https://www.fia.fs.fed.us/library/brochures/docs/2012/ForestFacts_1952-2012_English.pdf

However, the claims about fires is coming from a non-reputable source (a personal blog) that has a fabricated chart. The organization listed as the source of the charted data (National Interagency Fire Center) did not start tracking fires that far back and has not such data on their site.

Here is that link:

https://realclimatescience.com/2018/09/forest-fire-burn-acreage-down-86-since-1930/

It's a personal blog rated as "Quackery level pseudoscience."

Not surprised that this information is not only not known, but opposite what folks are being told. I am in the industry and most people are misinformed on it.

The US needs to find better ways to reduce its reliance on burning so much pollution emitting fuel, and also reduce its reliance on far right wing, authoritarian fossil fuel states like Saudi Arabia, Russia and Texas.

A high school student can give advice to Biden administration , how to" find better ways to reduce reliance on burning fuel". Giving advice to Biden administration is free.

But her the big question is whether this administration is capable of doing this or not. If yes then why are they going to beg for more oil production to other nations?? And keep on begging to Saudi and Russia for gas and oil. Saudi and Russia are not states in the USA. We need to BUY from them by PAYING our tax money.

And who decide the price Saudi and Russia. Means burning the fuels and burning the tax money. ( Do I need a MIT level brain to understand this logic???). This is what our American authoritarian govt doing now.....

If if burn the Saudi oil will that reduce the global warming and will not burn our forests????

And I feel funny to read your comment that " authoritarian fossil fuel states like Saudi Arabia, Russia and Texas"

Reduce GREED and you will slow down if not eliminate Global Warming. Businesses and innovations are great for us but, they come at a very high cost, if and when we reach the balance point were the two can Co exist then we may be able to live a comfortable life and save mother nature.

"cut emissions. Reducing methane produced from agriculture, in particular by belching cows, is a trickier matter."

In the UK, feeding cows sea plants might reduce methane emissions.

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2021/mar/18/cows-seaweed-methane-emissions-scientists

And with lab raised meat it could be the number of animals raised and slaughtered could be reduced. Assuming life cycle costing shows lab raised meat is less harmful to he environment than raising and slaughtering farm animals. Around the world, over 70 billion land animals are slaughtered for their meat each year..

In the UK some farmers are feeding their animals seaweed to reduce the amount of methane emitted.

And if lab raised meats can become accepted, that could reduce the amount of farm animals emitting methane. Assuming lifecycle cost estimates show lab raised meats have fewer negative environmental impacts than raising and slaughtering animals. Roughly 70 billion land animals are slaughtered each year for their meat.

US does a great job with forestry, 380% more trees now in US than in 1920. Forest fires down 90%. Diversity of species probably not so great though.

Do you realise that human are the biggest producers of Mathane. I wonder where this Methane ban is heading ? . These climate warriors were the cause of the mega fires in Australia. The head of the National and state forest who manage these park and bushland have allow the forests turn into a vegan armpit. Area that were once the hunting grounds of the Aboriginal natives. Where burning off the bush was an annual event. The National Park where I grow up ( Duea National Park) as not been burnt off for over 40 years. Because of these climate warriors non action cause the murder of Billion of mammals and the release of mega tons of carbon into atmosphere by placing a total ban on burning off which has been the practise by the Aboriginal natives for millennium. These climate warriors are sicko

"Climate activist Greta Thunberg told a rally outside the high-security climate venue that the talk inside was just “ blah blah blah" and would achieve little."

The US govt asked Saudi Arabia and Russia to produce more oil. Because the gas prices in America is sky rocketing .

Here is the point. Every year millions of hectares of forest is burned down in USA. why? global climate change..

That is cause by burning fossils.

It is political drama. If USA buy from Saudi Arabia and burn it in own land. And Biden says that America is not making,, so America is protecting the environment ..

This little Greta Thunberg will never a go to protest China or Biden, That is left politics ..
