His parents and two brothers in custody---two sisters questioned in Paris----sounds like a family of suspicious individuals!

Well finally some good news.

I definitely agree with that.

"I think it will help to get back to a life that I would describe as normal," Strasbourg Mayor Roland Ries told reporters after news that Chekatt had been killed.

"With the death of this terrorist ... citizens, like me are relieved," he said

Yes, life gets back to ‘normal’

-who is he kidding?

France already regularly deploys soldiers on the streets armed with machine guns!

France is involved in a slow-moving,low-level war......

authorities say he was known to have developed radical religious views while behind bars.

Not for the first time. Radicalists need to be separated from the ordinary prison population.

He had spent time in French, German and Swiss jails for a theft and violence and authorities say he was known to have developed radical religious views while behind bars.

Not surprising. He was an easy target for radicalization.

I'm glad nobody else got hurt.

His parents and two brothers in custody---two sisters questioned in Paris----sounds like a family of suspicious individuals!

I think this is standard procedure. Usually the family had no idea of what was going on. However another of his brothers is on the radicalization watch list and haven't been arrested yet.

Radicalists need to be separated from the ordinary prison population.

Sounds like common sense, but how do you achieve this when human rights legislation protects all religions and believers? It makes no distinction between casual believers believers and extremely fervent ones who take every word in their holy books literally. The latter is arguably precisely the sort of person that the legislation was written to protect. Unless we remove freedom of religion as a human right, you aren't going to be able to segregate people who spread dangerous and destructive beliefs which just happen do deal with the afterlife.

How about shooting his legs, arresting him and taking him to trial. What is it with just killing people. A couple of days ago, police massacred 6 bystanders in Brazil while hunting robbers. Don’t wanna mention “Black lives Matter”. If authorities just shoot to kill, these scum will nothing to lose. But give them life in prison, every single day they will suffer.

Imagine the jihadi wing of a prison. Fill the bookshelf with science books to piss them off.

How about shooting his legs, arresting him and taking him to trial.

Despite what Hollywood would have you believe, shots to the extremities are extremely difficult to near impossible in a combat situation. You would be trying to hit the narrowest, most moving part of the body. Shots to the arms and legs are not the “flesh wounds” of movieland either. There are multiple vital nerves and arteries in the limbs, that when severed can cause one to bleed to death in minutes.

I think it would have been better to use a magic spell of freezing on him.

You could volunteer to risk your own life to take this armed muslim terrorist into custody by any method you wish to deploy. Anti-terrorist police officers are trained to STOP armed terrorist as quickly as possible. I wonder how many more people would have died if police had decided to shoot this armed terrorist in the leg, and then hoped he gave up?

You don't want to mention only black lives matter by mentioning black lives matter?? Interesting strategy.

Well, the truth will lie within these two sentences somewhere.

Quote: "Interior Minister Christophe Castaner told reporters later three police officers came across a man they believed to be Chekatt and went to arrest him. He turned to fire on them and they shot and killed him, Castaner told reporters."

The guy must have know he would be forcing their hand. Maybe he even thought that Allah would be pleased to see him. And therein lies the tragedy.
