I heard a rumor that there is an educated country that because of christians, took the rights of women to have control of their bodies and lives. Can’t remember the name of the country, but I think they used use black people as slaves.

If dancing in a kimono or just observing something not islamic “ could lead to polytheism” and undermine their faith, then their faith must be pretty shaky.

The stupid thing is that the Japanese people participate in the Obon Odori as a cultural festival, not religious. Despite the Buddhist temples, Shinto shrines, Christian churches, etc etc the Japanese are one of, if not the most secular people on the planet in their daily lives. Basically opposite of many Islamic countries.

And basically the opposite of America too, which is run by Christian fundamentalists.

Fighto!
Those opposing Malaysians enjoying Bon odori are narrow minded bigots and losers.
Bon Odori - and Bon-dancing in particular- are one of the most enjoyable and exciting parts of Japanese culture. It is a happy party and festival everyone is welcome to join in.
Very pleased to hear many Malaysians ignored the orders of these sick, creepy men.

It is possible to watch and learn how other peoples celebrate things, join in, in a respectfull way, and not lose your own religion. Any religion that is so weak as to be supplanted by 1 day being around another religion is very weak.
Culture, food, traditions, and religion often are tied together. There are many little cultural things in Japan that probably began as religion, but migrated across the entire culture.

Those statements describe, I guess, about 15 countries until very recently. The current Pope is from one of them that finally got abortion in the first 14 weeks in 2021. It was illegal previously. Until 2004, only 3 Latin American countries allowed on-demand abortions with very few restrictions. The restrictions to allow abortion are usually for rape or the mother's safety, not economic hardship, like in Japan.
