I just wish people would wear masks , I mean seriously what is the issue?

If everyone had worn masks and kept their distance (=no packed rallies) many of the 214K may not have died.
No, everyone did not say it was 'just the flu'. Failed 'leaders' like Trump, Bolsonaro and, until he got a dose of it himself, Bozo, said it was 'just the flu'. Other countries were imposing travel restrictions, closing schools, etc. in February/March.

Good...
What you posted was; "So what you are saying is"... If that's not paraphrasing, what is it?
Really? Then why did Trump tell Woodward it was a "killer" and "deadly"?
It proves it was a super-spreader event...according to CDC criteria...

Hah, as compared to America, which is diseased, riddled with civil unrest, has armed protestors marching the streets, in which literally no group is happy except maybe the Amish?
Europe in its worst days is a dream in comparison.

The article is about Europe, not the EU. (They're not the same). Read it again, Britain is one of the four mentioned as accounting for more than half the new infections in Europe, together with France, Russia (not in the EU last I heard) and Spain.
Ironically the worst-hit part of the UK is the North, whose anti-EU, normally Labour voters defected en masse to Bozo's Nasty Party at the last election and are now having stronger restrictions imposed than the rest of the country.

if the selfish people dont even know how to protect themselves and others around them by wearing a mask, under the hypocrite umbrella of "freedom", then let them get infected with the virus. they deserved it

You said 90% refuse to wear masks - are you able to provide evidence for this? As far as I am aware, most Europeans do wear masks quite willingly. It is in the US where we get all these videos if adults throwing fits in shopping malls over masks.
Yes, there is a small minority who refuse to wear them - usually members of the radical right, but most don't.
No one likes using sanitizers, but these are also widely used. Not sure where you are getting your information from. I guess facts are optional.

I can't find that on the WHO website. Where are you seeing it? All I'm seeing is their page on how to effectively use masks: https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/advice-for-public/when-and-how-to-use-masks
It wouldn't surprise me if turns out you were just repeating fake right-wing news from the bubble.

With the colder weather, fewer people are choosing to bare arms in protest.

That's what you said. I say Trump knew the virus was a "killer", "deadly", and "like the plague" in Feb and Mar, but told the American people it was "the flu" and "disappearing".... What do you say?
Yes, a line of over 214K dead Americans does stretch fairly long...

Political affiliations aside, Johnson is the last Prime Minister I’ve seen in my lifetime you’d want in charge of a situation like this. I’d easily take May, Cameron, Brown, Blair, Major or Thatcher over Johnson to deal with this.

Even Fox "news" is realizing that masks are important, and that Trump's response to the Trump Virus has been a complete and utter failure:

Europeans are individualistic, they do not buy government orders all the time. How long will this 'More masks, Less pay' last before they start to protest again?

Just to show how selective citations can be - here is the alternative view on Fox "news".

Lincoln. so you are saying wearing a mask would have saved the 2 (??) people you mention's lives? Or that just supporting Trump or being in a crowd is a killer?
Seems like a stretch.
My guess is we are going have to learn to live with this "killer" (??) virus for years to come. If that means wearing a mask when told to or whatever, that may be a small price to pay. But evidence would seem to suggest it is more by way of behavioral gesture than having any real medical efficacy.
Plus going to negate all the CCTV and make the work of the police (if they are not totally defanged) harder.
Mr Kipling
Research in the UK showed that 75% of people in quarantine were not doing so correctly.
I have no idea what the figure is for Japan but I guess its a lot lower than that.

It’s incredible that the WHO is saying that masks aren’t effective.

I don't believe I said anything......
so if all 214k had worn a mask they wouldn't have died?
Also I seem to remember that everyone was saying that it wouldn't be so bad. But Trump actually took some action.
But I guess hindsight is a beautiful thing.
whatever the rules on masks, seems clear they will not save every possible victim/.
Wakarimasen
Not a Trump supporter or voter.
Wasn't trying to paraphrase. Was just asking a question.
Everyone said it was just the flu. Or nothing to worry about. And he did take steps so not sure what else was expected.
Yes another infected. and another 300 odd not infected........ not sure what that proves.

The average age of a Covid 19 death is over 80.
There is not a case for lockdowns but there is a case for shielding the vulnerable.
Forcing people into poverty is not the answer.

Biggest problem in Europe is that 90% of the people refuse to wear masks.
The other problem is that all borders are open and people can travel wherever they want.
So it is easy to bring the Virus from a higher hit country to your own home country.
In my opinion, if the Europeans conducts strictly their own best prevention, like using sanitizers, wearing masks, keep social distance, and wash your hands regular the cases would not rise like that.
But like I said, most of the Europeans refuse masks (for whatever reason), don't use sanitizers (complaining about dry skin on hands), no social distance (they like to party with 100 of peoples)...and so on

Wait, what? I thought all the pro-EU/anti-Brexit posters on JT have been telling us for years how things are so much better and more advanced on the continent under the sagacious and benevolent rule of the EU? Why is Covid so out of control over there, what's going on?
