The west? The US announced sanctions a week ago, targeting junta members's financial interests. Japan, by contrast, has announced nothing apart from recommending "discussions" between the 2 sides.
The Japanese are the biggest investors in Myanmar by far, bigger than all others combined, and will not do anything that risks their huge financial stake in the country...like sanctions.

zichi - How long before Japan sends in troops?
Where are the Buddhist calling out the Myanmar military? I don't think Budda would be pleased.
This must be a joke, right?

This could be the start of a civil war, or at least a long insurgency. Its not going to be easy for the junta to stay in power since they depend on those that are opposing them.

Isn't the United Nations supposed to be doing something about events like this? And what of the onging genocide against the Rohnyga (sp?)? And the 60-odd-year-long internal wars the regime has been waging against the Shan, Karin, etc. language groups?

Isn't Theravada (nontheistic) the prevalent form of Buddism in Myanmar? Even so, I don't think the Buddha Siddhartha Gautauma would be pleased with this either. As for ASSK's '6 walkie-talkie' charges, that could be technically classified as 'smuggling' but these military junta moron-jerks are too stupid to come up with any legit excuses so they had to come up with something.

How many life Myanmar have to sacrifice in order to gain justice? Citizens are being killed on roads. They are getting dragged out of their house at mid nights. Their rights are being violated. It doesn’t matter what its government is doing. What its military is doing. What CCP is enforcing there but the concern which draws my concern is the basic human rights must not be violated.

When that happens in Washington, DC, people say they were insurrectionists and terrorists who deserved it.

Not up to the west.
People have to decide between a Burmese genocidal military dictatorship, or a western-backed Capitalist genocidal government.
