Trump really needs to hand this off to someone else. He just doesn't have the chop for this.

Some posters claim Trump's been ineffective on North Korea, however I think they're not considering the perspectives of those in Kim's cult. In their eyes Trump's given their dear leader more prestige than he's ever had before.

Trump continues to enhance the images of despots like Kim, Xi, Putin, Netanyahu, Mohamed bin Salman and others around the globe.

The White House said it was aware of the report and had no comment.

Trump doesn't understand what's going on? Too busy play golf? Trying to find ways to protect himself and his family from pending charges? Watching Fox and friends? Waiting for word from China, Russia and the globe's .01% to see what cuts he could get on future deals?

After promising the moon, and delivering nothing, you bet they have no comment !

I support DPRK with regards to its view on Japan

Didn't Trump tell us all that NK was no longer a threat, that they were a peaceful nation, that we could all sleep easy? I guess its just another lie to add to his list. I'm sure he still expects to receive his peace prize after vetoing legislation to stop war in Yemen and aggravating NK to make more nukes.

To do what? The same thing everyone else in his administration would do? Or do it the way the previous Presidents have done, capitulate and give in to sanctions?

-2 ( +9 / -11 )

Oh dear. trumpy will not be pleased.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

bass: Or do it the way the previous Presidents have done, capitulate and give in to sanctions?

Other presidents applied sanctions. Trump cancelled his. After cancelling the war games. After he found out they were reopening a facility.

I think Kim has done quite well for himself since Trump arrived.

14 ( +16 / -2 )

they have every right to do so

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

they have every right to do so

Its only natural for humans to build defenses when they feel threatened. Trump seems to forgot about all the violent threats and name-calling he used as his early tactics. People don't just forget about these things over some pho in vietnam. He's never had a proactive or useful plan for NK, and he's actually only made it worse.

@pt. Don’t generalize. You can’t include Putin, Kim and Xi in the same despots grouping as USA, saudi and Israel.

russia, China and NK don’t invade and kill.

-7 ( +3 / -10 )

russia, China and NK don’t invade and kill.

Russia does.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

Categorize them as you want. My point is Trump's enhanced despot's images. Some Tibetans might see Chinese involvement differently. Some Georgians, Syrians and Ukrainians might see Russian involvement differently. Kim just kills his own people. Despot's gonna despot.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

Back on topic please.

Trump has certainly succeeded in giving Kim everything he wants -- making him a stronger leader in his peoples' eyes, recognizing NK's nuclear capabilities (not officially, but may as well have), and keeping the US from further sanctions, etc. And Trump still won't condemn Kim!

1 ( +6 / -5 )

Trump is getting schlonged by despots.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Kim, keep going as its the only way to retain your sovereignty. All nations need nuclear if they don't want to be subservient to Washington.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

All this winning. Nobody understands winning more than Kim.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Right on schedule. Trump has Little Rocketman right where he wants him.

Trump really needs to hand this off to someone else. He just doesn't have the chop for this

Obama sure didn't. Or Bush or Clinton. Trump's only had 2 years so far - NK is gonna take some time.

The effort is going nowhere... the US will get nowhere with this under Trump or any administration without the help of China. Best not get your hopes up there.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Liberals, Bolton and Pompeo ain’t going nowhere, they definitely shouldn’t. Kim wants some weak advisors (I can name a few) that can steer him into giving in to sanctions and receiving nothing in return. The sanctions are the Achilles heel, the Alpha ans Omega for Kim and he’s really dead in the water unless he can have those sanction removed.

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

All this winning. Nobody understands winning more than Kim.

Yeah, he sure has won a lot. Wait... all the sanctions still in place, no payments made...

Maybe more progress can made with meetings between the two Korea's.

Progress is being made between the two Koreas. Guess who started that. Hint: Not Obama

Trump is getting schlonged by despots.

How you figure, Jimizo? Little Rocket man hasn't got anything tangible from Trump yet.

All this winning. Nobody understands winning more than Kim.

Trump did lie to us. He said we would get tired of winning. We're not.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Good to see you appeasing dictators these days serrano. Do you remember back when you were bringing it on with W and shrieking for an invasion of both Iran and NK and cheering on the abortion in Iraq?

Personal responsibility and Independent Republicanism do not go hand in hand....

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Little Rocket man hasn't got anything tangible from Trump yet.

Sure he did. With those two useless PR stunts in Singapore and Hanoi, Trump legitimized Kim as a world-class player. That’s what the North wanted and that’s what the North got, thanks to Trump’s eagerness for a photo op.

Trump got played. Kim is smarter.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Good to see you appeasing dictators these days serrano

How do you figure, adverts? Did I say something supporting Little Rocket Man? Checking.... nope!

thanks to Trump’s eagerness for a photo op.

Yeah, that's about all he got, plastic. A photo-op. OK, two of them. Nothing else.

Progress is being made between the two Koreas. Guess who started that. Hint: Not Obama

Not Trump. Hint: Korean names.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

What happened is he asked Trump to send Ivanka instead and maybe the little sister too.

Progress is being made between the two Koreas

They are installing high tech gagdets in that corridor between them ?

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Trump says that as long as there are no tests of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles and full sanctions remain in force, he has no reason to hurry into a third meeting with Kim Jong Un.

Progress is being made between the two Koreas. Guess who started that. Hint: Not Obama

Not Trump. Hint: Korean names.

Oh my...

Just months after a barrage of threats of missile strikes and personal insults had many fearing the worst, US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un strode toward each other on a sultry June day in Singapore and grasped hands, vowing to upend decades of animosity and pursue a nuclear settlement.

About a month earlier, Kim walked across the cracked concrete block that marks the Korean border, the world's most heavily armed, and then, with a grin, guided a delighted South Korean President Moon Jae-in back into northern territory for a quick photo-op.

And you really think Kim would have walked across that cracked concrete block without the heavy pressure applied by Trump, right, Chip?

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Bass:. Bolton and Pompeo ain’t going nowhere

Neither are the negotiations.

Kim and he’s really dead in the water unless he can have those sanction removed.

They announced new sanctions and then Trump immediately cancelled them, giving Kim what he wanted with nothing in return.

You support that.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Serrano:. Obama sure didn't. Or Bush or Clinton. Trump's only had 2 years so far - NK is gonna take some time.

Yes I remember hearing Trump fans at his rallies saying they were voting for Trump so he could continue to fail like previous Presidents. No expectations of anything different, and that's exactly what you got, so you must be pretty happy

2 ( +3 / -1 )

No expectations of anything different,

Not quite. Trump is much worse

No previous President met with Kim -- twice. And not only got nothing for it, got new missile tests middle fingers and increased demands (removal of Pompeo for talks to continue)

Trump is much worse.

And you really think Kim would have walked across that cracked concrete block without the heavy pressure applied by Trump, right, Chip?

And you really think Truml's incompetence was responsible for that meeting? HAR!

Since the majority of evidence points that way, yes. Oh my . . . Tee Hee!

Photo ops are what tin-pot dictators live for. Not hard to do. They've got nothing to lose and lots to gain. Kim got recognized by his people as a real player.

When the President of the United States does the same thing he looks like a schmuck.

Trump got suckered.
