Might be premature. Australia still doesn't have Covid-19 under complete control with clusters of cases popping up regularly.

What about the "vaccine passports" being touted last week?

NZ domestic tourism is just not big enough to support its tourism industry. According to ABC News Australians accounts for 40% of NZ's international tourist pre-covid. However, people on both sides are aware that the bubble can burst when there is a new outbreak and tourists will be stranded.

Should have happened months ago.

Japan needs a travel bub with Taiwan or South Korea.

And Ms. Ardern apparently also forgot how here own country already inaugurated a travel bubble with the Cook Islands a couple months ago.

There is no bubble between NZ and the Cook Islands. Not sure where you get your info from. It has been discussed but definitely has not been anywhere near agreed yet. So apologies for bursting you misinformation "bubble".

Problem I still have with this is as follows. If I am in NZ I can go to AUS. So far so good. Have a good time and complain about their over priced alcoholic drinks. But I arrive back at SYD or MLB airport to fly back to NZ. On the same flight are numerous people in transit from places all over the world trying to return to NZ. These people will be required to go into 14 days isolation when they arrive in NZ because they could be infectious. But they could be sitting next to me on the last leg of their journey.. Perhaps this problem has been addressed, but I have not yet heard how.

Wasn't just there an article last week about a travel bubble between Taiwan and Palau?

Everyone's in their own little bubble.

I was quarantine-free travel before covid and has certainly been the case between countries since covid. It was the case within the European Community until this year.

And quarantine-free travel within Japan too.

the article is talking about a world first for development nations - no disrespect to Palau intended.

Maybe OZ/NZ can link up with Taiwan/Palau.

Yes. And first flight was April 1st.
