The world wonders what new nefarious scheme does Kim have planned.

And it is called “propaganda”.

Let's see it.

How many more weapons does the world need? I mean we can toast ourselves black several times already. But I am sure our conservatives here on this page can enlighten us!

Of course, Kim was playing Trump all along. Remember how our conservatives lined up and supported that peace mission in Singapore and then ratioanlized how Trump saluted a North Korean general (lol), while the rest of us logical people watched in horror. Seriously, I never thought it was so easy to “play” a conservative.

Winter's nearing, it's jack up the big talk time. Kim knows China and Russia still have his back. With Trump alienating so many nations, Kim knows much of the world will stop listening to the US.

Conservatives? And all along here I thought it was the "liberals" that were praising the peace process and talking about how the conservatives were out of touch with reality?

They left out "super duper".

Ah, doing the ole revise the history books, are we? Obviously, you didn’t watch Fox (or fix it) news during this time, praising dear leader, (dear leaders) on his bravery for starting this here “peace” process. And then you missed laura Ingrams praise of Trump which rivaled that of the North Korean propaganda, basically saying Trump was some god. But good attempt there yubaru, but foul ball.

Whatever it was, I'm sure US intelligence is all over it.

I'm in the security hardware business, having dealings with government and defense contractors often. People will often drop hints from time to time about this or that if you speak somewhat knowledgeably of world affairs. Someone not at liberty to say much more recently told me that "we can count how many hairs are in Kim Jong Un's ears." Given where they spend their days, I believe them.

EMP based "weapon"?

Smart move if it is.

Unfortunately, Japan made a strategic mistake by losing a window of opportunity to talk to NK and to be involved in the historical process.

If it's as modern as their clothes, it should be ok.

Trump's "solved" issue proving once again it is anything but, and his best friend "Rocket Man" still takes advantage of Trump's inability to admit mistakes and fall out of love with Kim. Instead, the enemy is the media, May, Macron, Merkel, and everyone else who are actually leaders while he wallows in self-pity, fear, and desperation.

IMO.. Kim Jong Un's hair is more relevant than his actions.

Wait I thought Trump single handedly resolved the North Korean nuclear issue with his jaunt to Singapore. How on Earth could this have happened?

If we can just leave all the conservative vs liberal claims and counter-claims aside for one moment, I think what most of us self-confessed liberals displayed at the time of the Singapore summit was a cautious welcoming of the initiative (after all, the Kim/Trump summit was intended to ease a fairly tense situation) along with some justified skepticism (given the DPRK's previous record) about the likely outcome until, or unless, we were shown some positive results.

That's exactly it. Timeline:

-- Trump becomes president. Nearly immediately starts escalating against North Korea. Left point out that sanctions are how to deal with NK, right say the president should be supported. North Korea escalates accordingly in response.

-- North Korea does what it always does, and deflects. They make a peace offering, starting with SK then America. Left point out that North Korea always does this as a fake. Right claim Trump has done something special.

-- Trump meets with North Korea, and makes a new boy pal. Left point out that this is giving Kim legitimacy for his propaganda to his people, right claim Trump is some sort of savior.

-- Kim soon starts not doing things exactly as Trump wants him to. Right try to claim this is something crazy and unexpected, left point out this entirely consistent with how North Korea has always behaved. Right say we need to apply sanctions. Left points out that the right criticized sanctions when Trump first started escalating.

-- North Korea announces new super weapon. Right acts surprised. Left points out that the right is a bunch of clueless morons who can't even realize that Trump just got played for a fool.

We are literally back in the exact same position with NK that Trump was in when he became president - hostile though calm status, with sanctions on NK. Except that unlike ever before, the people of North Korea have been told that their supreme leader got the president of America to meet with him, and they see their leader still in charge, so now he's not just a kid, he's their legitimized president. Oh yeah, and the US isn't doing their war games anymore, as NK demanded.

But as always, his zealots will somehow try to claim that Trump has done something correct with NK.

Five months later, with news items like this one, and with no obvious progress anywhere else,

Of course it is the "devil in the details" that is slowing or derails the progress. But this happens in every disarmament/peace negotiations. At least the door was opened.

They left out "super duper".

Shhh....don't let Kim know about OUR "Super duper ultramodern tactical weapon" that he isn't supposed to know about. LOL

Seriously, wouldn't be surprised this "new tactical weapon" falls in the category of biological or chemical weapons.....which conveniently puts it outside the nuclear weapons focus.

Perhaps that's why Kim Jong-Un was so quick to agree to denuclearize --- to divert attention away from the real threat --- development of large-scale biological and chemical weapons.

But before everybody says, "Aha! Trump duped again!" Let's remember that nobody, repeat NOBODY has thought the possibility of or discussed biological and chemical weapons within the context of any disarmament dialog. All focus was all on nuclear. Looks like Kim found a long forgotten loophole.

Pfft. Trying to win concessions. Not happening.

But I am sure our conservatives here on this page can enlighten us!

What makes you think that conservatives enjoy the fact the world is bristling with weapons?

A lot of people support their defense industry out of fear and can you blame them?

I wish the entire planet could do a u-turn but its not happening. While Russia and China and America are not on the same page and the differences so stark, it seems highly unlikely. And then you have all sorts of religious and ethnic conflict going on from time to time. Like Yemen right now which at its heart is nothing to do with the West, even if America and others supply weapons.

Conservative support for defense and national security is just the end result of facing the grim reality.

the world wonders why you accuse others of trying to be first, but are most often the first one

It's Twitter. Trump taught him how to weaponize it.

They do another test and the sanctions get even more brutal. And never ending.

That's all the excuse America and Japan and others need to make sure that is the outcome.

Certainly plays into Abe's hands in terms of strengthening Japan.

Continuation of the same game the Kim dynasty has been playing all along!   Trump got duped more easily than his predecessors for obvious reasons!

Heck of a job, Spanky.

Was it an electric catapult?

Someone is supplying this regime of nutters with WMDs and the technology to build them.

NK has been weathering the sanctions storm for decades, it still manages to get the resoruces it needs and still does the tests it wants. Never forget NK has nukes and nuks aside can easily turn Soeul to a pile of rubble with the 15000 artilery batteries they have pointed that way. All of US military might couldnt take them all out before the death toll would be astronomical. American Korean Japan have only one option and that is negotiations, NK know this and they continue to play the propaganda tune until Pres delamaker can get his act togther. MAny thought it was done after his last round of golf and slice of chocolate cake.

"Ultramodern" in North Korean terms is somewhere around 1985, so I doubt there is anything to worry about.
