North Korea's per capita GDP (PPP adjusted) is 185, one of the worst in the world. South Korea, compares favorably with most 1st world nations and has the 12th largest economy in the world. Clearly, the people in North Korea need to be liberated from the evils of North Korean despotic politics. One peninsula and a homogeneous people. The only difference is in the politics.

Sanctions clearly haven't worked in dealing with the fascist dictator in North Korea. It's time to put a price on his head. Let nature take it's course.

It is about time the US, Britain and France spoke up and made the same statements. If they are attacked or threatened they could launch their nuclear weapons. Russia has recently done so in regards to its illegal invasion of a sovereign nation for the purpose of territorial expansion.

Moldova should be making a deal with the US, for America to invade it and make it another state of the US in the same way Russia is expanding its borders. Living as a US state is much preferable to Russian rule under a despot. The best way for Moldova to stay free and out of Russian hands.

So, the N.Ks could now sneak in a sub into Tokyo Bay and nuke us all... not sure why, but they could.

Only someone who has never been in an ASW exercise with the JMSDF could make such a silly comment. The JMSDF is maybe the best anti-submarine warfare navy in the world. Nobody is getting a sub close to Japan without them tracking it. The new Kawasaki P-1 is an outstanding maritime patrol plane and Japanese surface combatants have the best sonar equipment made.

A lot of interesting stuff goes on at sea that doesn't make it into the press but the JMSDF is fond of, oh, sitting on a Chinese sub with a pair of destroyers while their helicopters use dipping sonar to harass the crew. The crew of a sub can clearly hear an active sonar. It's noisy and distractive. It is also very demoralizing as hey know they have been found and in a war would have been sunk. Harassing foreign adversary subs this way lets them know they can't just sneak around unobserved. Two days of constant active sonar wears the crew of the sub down terribly as even sleeping and eating become intolerable due to the constant racket and that is one of the treatments some Chinese subs have endured at the hands of the JMSDF. The US Navy does similar things btw. Both navies approach ASW more or less identically.

That's impressive. Anyone thinking about taking out North Korea now has to deal with the possibility they have nuclear armed subs that can retaliate.

A likely customer for the North Korean KN-23 is neither Libya or Iraq. There is a likely customer for these and it is Iran. Why? North Korea has been helping Iran's missile programs for decades. China meanwhile has sold Saudi Arabia it's DF-3 ballistic missiles and interestingly has set up a missile co-production facility with the Saudis in a site called Al-Dawadmi

If I had ¥1 for every picture in the media I have seen of the U.S. firing off one of its phallicoid messengers of mentality from ship, shore, submarine, shoulder, helicopter or wing, I could retire. Were all of those 'provocations'? And do those who are so terrified by the few such missiles tested by Bukhan see them as indicative of the MASSIVE industrial complex and component availability which must be extant to make them in any way feasible as an OFFENSIVE threat? Or, breaking out in a cold sweat at the word 'Nuclear', understand or have even the remotest idea of what is necessary to field even the relative firecrackers that the Hiroshima and Nagasaki weapons were relative to what is in place in extant Nuclear arsenals today? For a time I had two submarine force officers as neighbors. I was a student on the CH-46, transitioning from the SH-3 Sea King ASW helo at the time. I told them we called switching the dipping sonar from passive to active "going hammer" they both nodded, laughed out loud and said "yep". "Oh yeah, you can hear it inside the sub" they said. And they both agreed that once the helo went active it was very demoralizing for the crew because with both bearing and range available to dipper, the other helo working the sub would very soon be on top of them dropping its two torpedos. To those two submarine officers a pair of helos with dipping sonar and crews who were proficient were their worst enemy. The Japanese are very very good at this kind of warfare. Among the best there is.
