Covid-19 is not directly responsible for a global recession. States' failing responses and mass hysteria are more disruptive.

I am starting to wonder if it is worth counting infection cases; quite many virus carriers have remained undetected so unreported due to a longer sub-clinical stage or short of inspection services. The number of deaths may be a more valuable indicator. The mortal rate is significantly low compared to those of other virus outbreaks. In Japan, young and healthy working ages are highly unlikely to die of Covid-19 (causing pneumonia or other complications). To put it another way, it is much harder for them to get infected with the virus in Japan. Economic downturns may come from over-regulations and mass self-restraints

Thank you Chinese goverment! Once again you have proven that you are not up to the task of protecting your citizens until the world finds out because it affects them as well.

China, where the outbreak began in December, has seen a slowdown in new infections and on Saturday morning reported 427 new cases over the past 24 hours along with 47 additional deaths. The city at the epicenter of the outbreak, Wuhan, accounted for the bulk of both.

New cases in mainland China have held steady at under 500 for past four days, with almost all of them in Wuhan and its surrounding Hubei province.

Like Japan's Abe simply not pushing for more testing in order to protect Japan's economic interests, China's numbers are also under reported. There is NO WAY that suddenly and just like a switch being thrown, China's numbers went from daily increases of 2800 to 3500 new cases to under 500 in a country with cities having the population of some countries.

Watch how the numbers will climb in other countries and see. There will be a direct ratio based on the cities and population density of those areas with the total number infected and the level of health care and government corruption. After this Coronavirus dies down, I wonder just how many 'missing people' reports will just be brushed aside in China?

The CDC sent out 1200 test kits to Hawaii last week - all of which were defective. So the state hasn't been able to test anyone until today, although they've put about 100 people in quarantine. As the literal "Crossroads of the Pacific," I'll be amazed if we don't add to the U.S. COVID-19 count.

Who manufactures the test kits? Hopefully not made in China.

I'm quite sure that is to depict the drop in concert goers who have been advised to avoid crowds. They are a pretty group of lasses though.

Readers of Tohoku area, all I can add is so sorry for you guys but all because of the GOJ allowing the people to leave the ship creating a high probability of infection. One guy who was on the ship apparently from Sendai came home after leaving the ship only to arrive with high fever and now tested positive for the Coronavirus. This is not fake news but actual real world. Not sure if the idiot traveled by private car, bus or Shinkansen. If so that means more exposed is highly probable.

3) Trump has cut funding for key medical response agencies. He reduced $15 billion in national health spending and cutting the global disease-fighting operational budgets of the CDC, NSC, DHS, and HHS. And the government’s $30 million Complex Crises Fund was eliminated.

Trump's supporters are quick to say his opponents are politicizing this issue - they're not. They are holding this President accountable for the serious and dangerous decisions he made that has increased the threat from this disease to the American public.

Yet instead of fixing these errors, Trump does nothing but blame his detractors.

While scientists keep warning us of the danger of a worldwide epidemic, some politicians take this outbreak as a personal affront to their leadership skills. I think I will put my trust in scientists, rather than corrupt politicians.

If this happened in any other countries, the situation would be very different by now. Say China this, say China that, China save you, as simple as that. In 10 days, China built 2 hospitals, each can take 1,000 patients. Ask your govt to do it, to replicate it. In 2 weeks, China increased production of mask by 70 folds, now almost 30 billions made in China. Don't wear it, it is made in China. China Completely shut down a province of the Japanese population, 100 millions, without any major disruptions.
