Googled Dr. Roger Hodkinson and the ONLY news link was for the website Western Standard Online (where the above comments (number 2 in terms of order) were taken from without even quoting a source). This website's founder is Ezra Isaac Levant, a Canadian media personality, far-right political activist, writer, and broadcaster, and the founder and owner of Rebel News. Oh, did I mention far-right political activist. Enough said.

Dr. Hodkinson is unquestionably reputable.

And yet, here we are questioning it, and no one is providing any answers to support it. It wouldn't seem like he has much of a reputation beyond the people who use dogwhistles like "lemmings" and "virtue signalling".

And those aren't people who's opinion I'd trust on much of anything, much less on who has a good reputation or not.

Two inconvenient facts for the good DR.: COVID has a far higher transmission rate and can be transmitted by asymptotic carriers. And the death rate is 10-25 times higher than seasonal influenza.

These are the facts as laid out by experts in the field - not a gp from nowhere, and they are not doubted by any sentient being.

But I didn't expect the vaccine here in Japan before summer 2021.

Any doctor that uses terms like lemmings, virtue signalling, and going on about hoaxes perpetrated upon the public make me serious question their motives politically due to their usage of extremist right-wind dog whistles. Add the financial bias this doctor clearly has and it’s hard to give his statements any objective credibility.

Predictable. There’s always one, usually the same one.

There is absolutely nothing to be done to contain this virus other than protecting your more vulnerable people.

Has Dr. Hodkinson never heard of vaccines?

The doctor is also currently working on pathology as Executive Chairman of Bio-ID Diagnostic Inc., a private company that develops tests for identifying COVID-19 infection.

“What I am going to say is lay language and blunt,” Hodkinson told the Edmonton City Council Community and Public Services Committee.

“The bottom line is this,” he addressed the group. “There is utterly unfounded public hysteria driven by the media and politicians. It’s outrageous. This is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on an unsuspecting public.”

Continuing, Dr. Hodkinson added, “Masks are utterly useless. There is no evidence based on their effectiveness whatsoever. Paper masks and fabric masks are simply virtue signaling. Seeing these uneducated people walking around like lemmings, obeying without any knowledge base to put the mask on their face.”

He also claimed social distancing is pointless as COVID-19 “travels by aerosols, which travel 30 meters or so before landing. And closures have had such terrible unintended consequences. Everywhere should be open tomorrow.”

Next, the doctor touched on testing. “I’m in the business of testing for COVID. I do want to emphasize that positive results DO NOT, underlined in neon, mean a clinical infection. It’s simply driving public hysteria and all testing should stop.”

The only thing Dr. Hodkinson advocates for is to “protect the vulnerable” by giving all nursing home residents daily doses of vitamin D.

In Alberta, where the meeting took place, people under 65 years of age have a 1 in 300,000 chance of dying from COVID.

“It’s just another bad flu, and you have got to get your minds around that,” he stressed. “Let people make their own decisions. You should be totally out of the business of medicine. You’re being led down the garden path by the chief medical officer of health (Dr. Deena Hinshaw) in this province.”

I can't wait for this vaccine, or any vaccine for that matter, to be available here in Japan. Being in the highest risk category myself, this is good news. I just worry about making it through winter since no one practices social distancing here or seems to want to wash hands either. Those of you dismissing this virus as "just a cold" are absolutely ignorant and selfish.
