"What we've got here . . . is failure . . . to communicate. Some men you just can't reach."

....the prison warden in film Cool Hand Luke

But you have to shake your head in wonder about the irony of it all. After all, just a short time ago the U.S. turned a blind eye to the murder of Washington Post reporter Khashogi by the Arab government. It's a very narrow path we walk and one we stumble on occasionally and fall down on from time to time.

I have no doubt that Putin has personally killed other humans.

I have no doubt that Putin has ordered multiple killings of specific people who are political rivals inside and outside Russia.

I have no doubt that Biden has not ordered killing any political rivals or personally killed anyone.

I think both men have ordered military strikes. That's part of their current job responsibility. I bet Biden feels bad doing it. I doubt Putin cares.

I'm really happy my family left Russia.

11 ( +16 / -5 )

After all, just a short time ago the U.S. turned a blind eye to the murder of Washington Post reporter Khashogi by the Arab government.

And the US continues to hold and slowly kill the reporter Assange in a UK prison for daring to expose their crimes. Zero moral authority here.

How about Biden goes head-to-head in a live debate with Putin?

8 ( +16 / -8 )

Putin the Poisoner, Yes. Killer, yes. Murderer, Yes, Yes, Yes...

8 ( +17 / -9 )

Biden can't even complete a sentence on his own.

Is that true?

8 ( +11 / -3 )

Hate Russia, hate China. Is it a lack of critical thinking skills, or just low IQ?

Hate the leaders, not the people.

And it's always the people who get shafted by these authoritarian monsters.

The superstates need dismantling.

8 ( +12 / -4 )

You don't wear high heel shoes if you're confident about yourself.

Hate the leaders, not the people.

Joey Stalin, your reply?

I don't like the Russian, Chinese and Trump governments, but it doesn't mean I should also hate the people themselves. In fact, I'm quite interested in Russian, Chinese and Hollywood culture.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

Biden is a decent man. Maybe not the ideal president. I would have preferred somebody at least 30 years younger. But it it is what it is. I had the opportunity to randomly meet Biden back in 2007 when he was a senator. I was on the Amtrak from DC with my elderly mother. Biden always rode the train into DC. He helped my mother with her luggage. He really doesn’t come off as an elite politician. He is really down to earth.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

And Donald Trump’s admiration for Putin was one of the most troubling aspects of his presidency.

7 ( +13 / -6 )

"(Putin) will pay a price," Biden said in the interview when asked about the declassified report.

So nice to have an America President again who doesn't cave to Putin.

7 ( +16 / -9 )

Don’t recall Biden passing his 6th Dan in Judo.

He probably even has a few Phds, you can get a lot of ceremonial awards when you are a brutal dictator.

Its is confirmed that Putin HAS NEVER broken his foot while bathing naked with his dog though, I give that!

Unless you share a bathtub with him, you cannot know that. I give you that!!!!

7 ( +12 / -5 )

They're both dirtbag power-hungry politicians, how about that.

I think Joe Biden is a moral and generally a "good man." I thought the same of Obama, Bush-I, Carter and Ford. Can't say the same for the other Presidents since before Kennedy.

Putin has always been a killer, power-hungry, and has stolen billions from normal Russians in corrupt dealings with his buddies. All the money in Russia isn't enough for Putin. He wants more, along with power.

President Biden isn't my ideal President, but given from the available choices, I'm happy that he won. In general, anyone who wants to be President isn't fit for the office, unless they are stupid. Biden didn't want to run for President. He was talked into it, since almost anyone else the Dems were pushing were in-electable.

7 ( +14 / -7 )

There is ample evidence that people people who crossed Putin or his oligarchs have died at Putin's behest, and that Russian state agents have carried out these killings in a number of different countries, as well as in Russia. There is a long list of names of dissidents, journalists, opposition politicians, businessmen and others - maybe including a theatre full of people in Moscow and a school full of children in Chechniya - who have been murdered, disappeared or imprisoned on his orders. Sos say what you like about Joe, but his last name isn't Stalin, and he's no murderer.

7 ( +11 / -4 )

Russia and China shouldn't bother talking to the US, since 'you can negotiate with scoundrels, but you can't negotiate with idiots.

Plenty of scoundrels in the world who are not idiots.

Name a few for us. Don’t be coy.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Because the judge decided he was a suicide risk. Because of pressure from the US.

That doesn't really answer the question. commanteer is claiming the US is "slowly killing Assange", and that his actual imprisonment is solely the US's will. I fail to see how anything you've posted proves that these statements are true.

By the way, I'm not advocating for his imprisonment nor liberation, I am simply debating the fact that his situation, right now in 2021, is comparable in any way to what Putin is doing with his dissidents.

“An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile—hoping it will eat him last.” Winston Churchill,

7 ( +7 / -0 )

What a cesspool.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

I can’t disagree with him. Putin is a killer. Period.

6 ( +13 / -7 )

Putin has ordered hits on his political opponents. Biden is really right about him. No soul and a killer.

6 ( +13 / -7 )

Pure political left wing fantasy, no Republican likes nor cares about Putin, but they do care and worry about China which not a single Democrat cares about. And that’s frighteningly alarming.

Having listened to some of the exchanges between the American Secretary of State and the Chinese meeting in Alaska, your comment is simply incorrect.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

while in Belmarsh Prison, Britain's Guantanamo

This is utter nonsense. It is a category A prison, nothing more. Have you ever been in there? Worked there?

6 ( +8 / -2 )

Biden only said the truth !!..

Putin is a killer !!..

5 ( +17 / -12 )

If you don't want to be called a murdering sob, the best course of action would not to be a murdering sob.I

Vlad's response was classic disinformation. The Russians excel at whataboutism. By doing so, they seem to promote the narrative that the truth is ultimately unknowable, so why bother with it?

This gives his fake -democratic fascist regime cover to act as it pleases both domestically and overseas.

The West should reclassify absolutely everything it knows about how a former spy on gov't pay has magically become one of the wealthiest men in the world.

5 ( +11 / -6 )

In taking a tough stance on Russia, Biden has said the days of the U.S. "rolling over" to Putin are done. And he has taken pains to contrast his style with the approach of Trump, who avoided direct confrontation and frequently spoke about Putin with approval.

Thank goodness. We no longer have a Putin-worshipper in the White House. The country that is attacking us in cyber-space daily, conducting unsafe intercepts of our aircraft, putting bounties on the heads of our troops in Afghanistan, invades and occupies its neighbors, sends hit squads abroad to assassinate its dissidents, locks up its political opponents....everything Trump wished he could do during his term...

But he has taken over the Repub Party - the GOP - Guardians of Putin. They share his disdain for democracy, and love of authoritarianism...for them, it's no longer the will of the majority, but the tyranny of the minority...

Fox News now just the North America propaganda channel for the Kremlin...

5 ( +13 / -8 )

President Biden has a monumental political task/challenge at hand.

That is a lot to ask of a man in his twilight years, stated with genuine respect for his office.

Both the Government of China/ Russia have no respect for democracy, international law, human rights, freedom of speech/expression, religion/faith.

Sooner or later, this will come to a head. It could amount to a decision to take military action, call out the bully.

That is the meaning of deterrents.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

The above quote another example of how effective the Kremlin's keyboard warriors in combination with 'western' far right media like Fox, Breitbart etc have been at getting America's intellectually vulnerable to believe one more big lie.

Exactly. The right-wing propaganda machine tried the "Biden is senile" approach during the election, but each one of his public appearances -and him wiping the floor with Trump during the debates- easily brushed those attacks off. But when the guy you support is a full-fledged and evident idiot, who can barely read and confuses words like "oranges" and "origins", it was obviously a doomed idea from the start.

4 ( +9 / -5 )

Putin was awarded 7th dan in 2009 and 6th dan (prestigious red & white belt) at the Kodokan in 2000. In the 1970s, he was awarded a Master of Sports in both judo and sambo.

And as a 5th degree awarded in Japan, I can tell you that those are purely ceremonial, and vlad is a fraud.

4 ( +12 / -8 )

It would be interesting to ask the opinions of people in Yemen if they think Biden is a killer.

Good point. All US administrations are killers.

4 ( +9 / -5 )

Putin has always been a killer, power-hungry, and has stolen billions from normal Russians in corrupt dealings with his buddies. All the money in Russia isn't enough for Putin. He wants more, along with power.

He's a wrong 'un. No mistake about it. And again, as with all would be dictators, there's the vanity of the man and his silencing of dissent. That leads us to those who do support such men - those enforcers, the people on the street and the online presence.

Without trying to sound paranoid or embarking on a flight of fancy, I often wonder how many agitators, foreign agents and suchlike are present in our host nation, currently? Is it like in the run up to the Second World War, where there were persons of interest in all sorts of interesting locations around Europe, the US etc?

I don't just mean Putin cultists (could be any big power with global interests, and a few other secondary players) and I don't just mean people online, pushing their preferred tyrants.

With Japan being of strategic interest to the 3 superstates, there has to be a lot of stuff going on, day to day that would seem mundane or innocuous, at first glance.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

By saying anything that is NOT positive about Putin, Biden risks further angering the US Republican Party.

Pure political left wing fantasy, no Republican likes nor cares about Putin

,Trump often described Putin in glowing terms.

4 ( +8 / -4 )

Later that day, Putin recalled his ambassador to the U.S. and on Thursday he pointed at the U.S. history of slavery and slaughtering Native Americans and the atomic bombing of Japan in World War II.

Nope, I am afraid Great Britain, a notable motous operandi, fits the bill in that respect.

Colonial enslavement of Native Americans included those who surrendered, too….

https://www.brown.edu/news/2017-02-15/enslavement

Vladimir Putin liquates his political adversaries/enemies, no doubt.

Poison is his weapon of choice, a Russian President Coriolanus Snow, (Hunger Games).

4 ( +4 / -0 )

And the US continues to hold and slowly kill the reporter Assange in a UK prison for daring to expose their crimes. Zero moral authority here.

What? Assange being in jail in the UK has nothing to do with the US, who asked for his extradition but had it denied. He was arrested because the Ecuadorian governement was fed up with him and gave him up, and he is still being held by the english police, not the US.

Also, holding someone in a jail and "slowly killing him" are two vastly different concepts.

Also, knowing everything he has done in the past 5 years, I'm not sure you should hold Julian Assange as a beacon of justice or morality.

3 ( +11 / -8 )

Even today critics are still "navalnized" both at home and abroad.

For sure, but Navalny is not the change that Russia needs. He could turn out to be worse than Putin (if that's possible), with his links to the far right.

3 ( +8 / -5 )

Putin is as much a 6th degree as I am a space shuttle pilot. Full disclosure: I don't get have a pilot license.

As a holder of 3 different black belts, I can tell when people flop for someone. Putin's partners fall for him like a drunken blond meeting DiCaprio.

Name me a Judoka anywhere else in the world who practiced with his socks on.

3 ( +9 / -6 )

Then why hasn't he been deported to the US to face trial? And why has the Ecuadorian embassy kicked him out in the first place?

Because the judge decided he was a suicide risk. Because of pressure from the US.

"The UN special rapporteur on torture has issued a stinging rebuke to the United States, Great Britain, Sweden and Ecuador for “deliberately” exposing WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to years of “cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment,” which can only be described as “psychological torture.”

“In 20 years of work with victims of war, violence and political persecution I have never seen a group of democratic States ganging up to deliberately isolate, demonise and abuse a single individual for such a long time and with so little regard for human dignity and the rule of law,” Nils Melzer said in a statement published on the UN High Commissioner for Human Right’s website on Friday. “The collective persecution of Julian Assange must end here and now!"“The evidence is overwhelming and clear,” Melzer said. “Mr. Assange has been deliberately exposed, for a period of several years, to progressively severe forms of cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment, the cumulative effects of which can only be described as psychological torture.”

https://consortiumnews.com/2019/05/31/un-torture-report-demonized-assange-has-faced-psychological-torture/

There are also unsubstantiated rumours that Assange was subjected to "enhanced interrogation" (chemical torture, in plain English) while in Belmarsh Prison, Britain's Guantanamo. If you're interested, you should read this story about the fates of those who blow the whistle on crimes committed by the US and its allies:

So Biden will not "roll over" for Putin but he will "bend over" for Xi Jinping ! Lets not forget how many millions China has and "continues" to murdered in the name communism !

2 ( +15 / -13 )

For some strange reason, Russia never recalled its ambassador during the Trump administration.

And Trump never recalled ours, even after we found out Russia had put a bounty on the heads of our soldiers.

The party's over, Vlad.

Agent Orange has left the building.

2 ( +18 / -16 )

Otherwise, where would the Black Lives Matter movement come from?” he said, citing racial injustice and the killing of African Americans.

Wait, what? He just legitimized BLM? Not that it needed it, but to hear it from Putin? That must feel like a total stab in the back to the previous administration.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

The Kremlin samovar is getting all steamed up and about to explode over the White House kettle's coming to a boil. Hypocrisy aside, Biden's calling a spade a spade, ie., Putin a killer, is the only way to deal with the phony Czar whose corruption and egregious crimes against humanity will one day be revealed. The Russians are coming for Putin perhaps sooner than we might imagine.

2 ( +9 / -7 )

How about Biden goes head-to-head in a live debate with Putin?

Biden did have a debate with the putin surrogate, donald.

Any woman who has seen the photos of a very handsome James Bond spy, topless riding a muscular horse through a river, swimming in a icy lake, or fighting with a grizzly bear...

Lil kim also does plenty of that, get a body double to ride horses, pathetically trying to hide that he couldn't even get on a bicycle forget a horse.

Wrong. It has everything to do with the US. One would have to be very naive to believe otherwise.

Then why hasn't he been deported to the US to face trial? And why has the Ecuadorian embassy kicked him out in the first place?

2 ( +6 / -4 )

Its sad to see Biden and Putin going at each other like this. The Cold War is long over, but the US media and the establishment desperately want an escalation in tension in order to increase arm sales, and of course to justify pork barrel defense budgets. Not a good beginning, but of course Biden is supposed to show he'll be "tough on Putin" now that Trump is out of office. With all the problems in the world, we don't need the US and Russia spending trillions of dollars just to save face.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

By saying anything that is NOT positive about Putin, Biden risks further angering the US Republican Party. The Republican Party has turned so far right in its pursuit of greater authoritarianism that its beliefs are in-line with Russia's, one of the most far right nations in the world.

by citing America’s past and present troubles, from slavery and the slaughter of Native Americans to racial injustice.

None sense, if that were the case, they had the Power and the chance to blow up the filibuster and they didn’t and yet they still through all these years allowed the Democrats to spew their rhetoric and funny now that the Democrats whole power they don’t want to get Republicans the same rights, so it’s not the Republicans that are authoritative in their power, they believe in the two party system and democracy as well as dissent.

Hmmm....that Biden and the Democrats seemed concerned with Hunter and Joe’s brother and China and the FBI digging deeper into his financial background why would Biden and the media NOT talk about this instead of Saying, “there’s no there there?” Zichi, Trump is not in office, so back to Biden, what’s he going to do? Does he need time to get his script together before he engages Putin? If he’s so confident in what he thinks or claims about Russia why does he take them on? Kamala won’t...can’t!

I know Trump is the best scapegoat for Biden‘s failure, but I want to know what is been going to do about Putin‘s offer and more importantly what will he do about China? My guess is nothing and I’m pretty certain of that....
