Moscow-backed separatists have been battling Ukrainian forces since 2014.

This war has actually been going on for 8 years now.

We are merely seeing the end of it.

Ukraine disarming, disavowing aggression and declaring full neutrality would be welcome by all and could bring a lasting peace.

Russia bombards areas where it pledged to scale back

Is anybody surprised about that?

Me not!

“I do not know if we can still believe the Russians,”

Of course not!

The Russians are notorious liers!

Yesterday I read in some other news that the mass murderer Putin is upset, because it seems that he will loose this war and that he is ready now to increase the violence and murder on the Ukraine.

This insane mass murderer and his murdering followers and supporters do not hesitate now to increase their murdering game and use much more destroying weapons and continue their crimes against humanity.

They try to reach their goal by all means: Extinguish a complete nation including its population.

These Russian mass murderes and all their followers and supporters must and will pay the highest price for that!

Russian forces bombarded areas around Kyiv and another city just hours after pledging to scale back military operations in those places to help negotiations along, Ukrainian authorities said Wednesday.

Everyone in the world knows by now, never believe what Putin says, never trust what he does.

Ukraine disarming, disavowing aggression

so you’re saying that the country that has been invaded & having their citizens murdered should disarm & stop their aggression !? WTF !?

16 ( +20 / -4 )

t the apparent scaling back of the Kremlin's war aims and pledge to de-escalate may merely be an effort to put a positive spin on reality:

Narcissitically impaired megalomaniacs have probably never had a good grasp of reality, beyond "I want more". With Putin throwing his military leaders under the bus, claiming they misled him, using the typical thug's "I'm innocent, other guys did it", it sounds like he's gone full mental, which is worrying given he still has even uglier weapons to use. Putin's a sick man, who still has lots of equally sick Russian citizens supporting him. Russian people and those who've swallowed the Kremlin propaganda you own this.

Dishonest, predatory, narcissistically impaired thugs should never be elected to office, and if they are, expect greater madness, and expect they will never step down, even if the clear majority of a country vote them out. See Lukashenko, and others for examples.

Lots of death and destruction by Russia to kill 900 neo-Nazis.

8 ( +13 / -5 )

I’m shocked that people even believed Putin’s and his military seniors words. Anyone with a pulse could have seen this sadly coming a mile away.

17 ( +20 / -3 )

The Ukrainians have repeatedly lied as much or in most cases more than the Russians. I don't believe a word that is reported. Every attack by Russian forces is described as hitting a school, hospital, museum, bomb shelter, kindergarten or rescue center for cute kittens...... Never their military infrastructure, air bases, anti aircraft systems and command and control centers that have been destroyed.

-25 ( +2 / -27 )

Everything is an agenda. When has the media ever been honest?

so Russia hasn’t invaded Ukraine ?

Russian military isn’t bombing Ukrainian cities ?

Innocent Ukrainian citizens aren’t being killed because of the Russian invasion ?

All of this is just fake news by the media ?

Whats your agenda ?

18 ( +22 / -4 )

I’m shocked that people even believed Putin’s and his military seniors words. Anyone with a pulse could have seen this sadly coming a mile away.

To be fair, the media has a lot to answer for with their opinion pieces and so called 'analysis'. You could say 'I'm shocked that people even believed Biden...' because all those so called severe consequences are all but hot air...Russian exports still flowing Russia central bank still on swift...on and on.

The Economist did an interview with President Zelensky 2 days ago, according to him none of the sanctions on Russia has been 'implemented', ie not in law, or they are ineffective because they're unimplementable.

The only course changing factor in this war is Ukrainian resistance. The west is more than useless, at times even hampering humanitarian measures. Sad...some body in the Whitehouse snuffed out the story about Israel advising Ukraine to declare neutrality and give up territories to save itself, two weeks later we all learnt, Zelensky learnt, that was the best course of action, because the west isn't going to do anything that alters Russia's role in the global supply chain.

-8 ( +6 / -14 )

@kipling

The Ukrainians have repeatedly lied

So despite Ukraine being the victims of an unprovoked invasion, you are laying the blame on Ukraine ?

Russia invaded a sovereign country & are bombing the hell out of their cities - destroying peoples homes & murdering innocent women & children.

These people were happily living their lives carefree, until everything was taken from them.

And you have the nerve to say Ukraine is lying !?

I wish you the same fortune as the Ukrainian citizens

14 ( +18 / -4 )

Never their military infrastructure, air bases, anti aircraft systems and command and control centers that have been destroyed.

Mr. Kipling - there is plenty to see of Ukraine's military infrastructure that has been destroyed if you are interested. Would you like me to send you some sources?

9 ( +11 / -2 )

No one believes anything fascist Russia says. Their original claim that they had no intention of invading Ukraine; their claims of scaling back the invasion - all nonsense.

The Ukrainians should keep targetting Russians wherever they are found on sovereign Ukraine land. Blow up any Russian tank and personnel carrier thatvis seen, use snipers to liquidate all Russian personnel.

Send the fascists home for good.

12 ( +14 / -2 )

This war has actually been going on for 8 years now.

Brave of you to admit Russia has been funding the insurgency in Eastern Ukraine since 2014 now.

We are merely seeing the end of it.

Lol Who is this "we"?

Ukraine disarming,

Russia invading is all the reason to prove they shouldn't disarm. Russia should disarm.

disavowing aggression

Defending yourself from Russian invaders isn't aggression.

and declaring full neutrality would be welcome by all and could bring a lasting peace.

Welcome only by the Kremlin and their propagandists. Peace will only last as long as Russia decides not to invade.

15 ( +17 / -2 )

What Putin Says What Putin does. Do not listen and/or hear Evil. Only watch what they do. That in their lies the truth.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

Word was, at the beginning of the war, how shocked, SHOCKED, I tell you, that European leaders and their diplomatic corp was that Russia lied. So many layers of disbelief to quickly de-tangle, in order to pick up fragments of their existing foreign policy into something coherent and functional. Nothing in the world like witnesses destruction and feeling like you are next.

Looks like, at least this year, NATO really wasn't such a bad idea after all. Reasonable analysts have already concluded that, but for NATO, this would have started - and then progressed - on a much larger scale.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

It's all a matter of perspective.

Do you really believe that Russian randomly attacked Ukraine just for an opportunity to kill women and children.

You're getting fed ridiculous propaganda.

The other side of the story is that ethnic Russians in east Ukraine have been on the receiving end of shelling for the past 8 years, UN estimates civilian casualties among ethnic Russians at east Ukraine at over 3,000. Over 3 times higher than the civilian casualties caused by since the March offensive began.

Why do you think "Russian forces" have markings like Z, V and sometimes O?

They are not regular Russian military units, they are ethnic Russians forces from East Ukraine using surplus Russian equipment.

The "Russian forces" in Ukraine are technically Ukrainians by US definitions because the US considers Donetsk, Lugansk and Crimea to be Ukraine.

So this is basically a civil war in Ukraine between East and West with Russia providing weapons and occasional missile strike support to the V, O and Z units.

Btw, V, O and Z stands for Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Zelenskyy.

-14 ( +4 / -18 )

Bronco - for those of us getting fed "ridiculous propaganda", can you please share your sources for the above?

14 ( +16 / -2 )

Do you really believe that Russian randomly attacked Ukraine just for an opportunity to kill women and children.

I didn't say that. I think Putin attacked for several reasons: 1) He didn't want another NATO country on his border, 2) He wants to keep Ukraine aligned towards Russia, not the EU/the West, 3) He doesn't respect Ukrainian sovereignty, 4) There are believed to be a ton of natural gas and oil in the black sea south of Ukraine.

The other side of the story is that ethnic Russians in east Ukraine have been on the receiving end of shelling for the past 8 years,

Oh, you mean the ethnic Russia insurgent groups have been getting shelled? Maybe Russia shouldn't fund insurgent groups in Ukraine. Do you think that might calm things just a bit?

So this is basically a civil war in Ukraine between East and West with Russia providing weapons and occasional missile strike support to the V, O and Z units.

Lol no it isn't. It's an invasion by Russia. Full stop.

13 ( +15 / -2 )

What happens to foreign-armed and funded separatist insurgencies in your own country, Bronco? I can tell you what would happen in mine.

Oh, you mean the ethnic Russia insurgent groups have been getting shelled? Maybe Russia shouldn't fund insurgent groups in Ukraine. Do you think that might calm things just a bit?

Bronco - for those of us getting fed "ridiculous propaganda", can you please share your sources for the above?

Wikipedia is a start.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_in_Donbas

Keep in mind that academics and serious researchers avoid using "reports say..." or "according to Ukrainian sources" or "... which could not be independently verified"

Whereas in Western media reports, everything has one of those disclaimers because it's all propaganda.

The fact is UN estimates for civilian casualties in the Donbass war are higher than in the current conflict, which makes it odd that one with fewer casualties is called a "mass genocide" while the other is completely ignored as if it didn't even happen.

-14 ( +2 / -16 )

and thanks for the sources. I will take a look.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

No they don't. Also, given how widespread Russia's invasion of Ukraine is, it's kind of hard to calculate just how many Ukrainian casualties there are, but safe to say it's considerably higher than 3,000 civilians. I mean, the Orc war criminal pilot killed 300 kids in one theater alone.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

Nobody believe for a second that they were serious anyway. They are too deep into this to just give up.

But on the side note, i wonder what would happen if a peace deal was truly struck. Would the west just suddenly lift all the sanction and act like all things are normal again with Russia? What exactly is the end game here? Would they unfreeze all the asset and allow business and airlines to return again? I think even the West probably has no idea what they would do if Russia suddenly cease their operation. And who will pay to rebuild Ukraine and aid tens of millions livelihood?

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

I'm curious, how do you square that the newswire organizations telling you half-truths about how important it was to get a booster are the exact same newswire organizations reporting on the Russian-Ukraine conflict?

Everything is an agenda. When has the media ever been honest? Yet here you are still getting emotionally entangled in a distorted version of the truth every single day.

Did you learn nothing from the past 2 years?

Since you seem to know better than everyone else please recommend a reliable news source. Where do you find ‘the truth’?

7 ( +10 / -3 )

Putin's word is worthless, period. He will not get all of Ukraine as he had dreamed and no marble memorial in Moscow for the "great leader" who "preserved" or "reunited" the "All-Russian Union" of his imagination, but you can't always get what you want - you get what you need: Putin needs to save face and get a piece of "Little Russia" in the east and grab a slice of the so-called "New Russia" in the south. But Putin is not Will Smith and Zelenskyy no Chris Rock so an apology from the Kremlin butcher won't suffice: Putin must be made to pay a very heavy price for his brutal, violent attack on the people of Ukraine destroying their country and ruining the lives of millions. Once a war criminal, always a war criminal: Biden got that one right.

“Does video show Russian prisoners being shot?”

(Hint: more likely than not)

another “conspiracy theory” and “disinformation” bites the dust.

-10 ( +2 / -12 )

Blacklabel - what conspiracy theory is this? It sounds like this is being investigated, as it should be.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

also, Blacklabel, thank you for linking to a reputable news site! Much appreciated!

4 ( +5 / -1 )

For those who want to know what exactly is happening, people should watch Patrick Lancaster's videos on Youtube. One of the very very few reporters in the middle of the war, speaking to ordinary civilians caught up in the madness.

-8 ( +2 / -10 )

Sounds like Russia, doesn’t it? Say one thing, then do something completely different. Like before the invasion.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

another “conspiracy theory” and “disinformation” bites the dust.

Yes, and? That still doesn't make Ukraine the bad guy here. You'll notice Ukrainian authorities are investigating this, which is more than can be said for the Russians and their crimes.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Maybe it's time to send in US-NATO jets and neutralize the skies like Zalensky is begging for.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Mr. Kipling - does Russia/Putin get any of the blame in your view?

4 ( +5 / -1 )

The longer America uses Ukraine to push against Russia and China, the quicker the dollar will be abandoned by more and more countries. The Southern World has seen what the west is like over and over again. The days of colonialism are no more.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Why do the posters who consistently claim media and journalists are fake news always go quiet when asked to share their news source?

Very odd.

7 ( +10 / -3 )

Pukey - do you live in the West? (or in a democracy)? I agree that the days of colonialism should no more and that is a good thing. What are you hoping for here? What would you like to see?

1 ( +3 / -2 )

only gullible people trust a word commies say

so much blood, tears and human dispair for absolutely nothing. this murderous, oppressive ideology should have been banned a long time ago, just look at the lives of their "role models" throughout history, not a single honest hard working individual, just leeches thirsty for power at the expensive of entire populations, sick and evil to the core

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Lies, pain, cruelty, destruction and death.

Sounds like Hell, doesn't it?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Any war is bad and have to be stopped, this one is no exception.

Lets hope peace talks will bring some results soon and this can be at least eased if not stopped.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

The longer America uses Ukraine to push against Russia

A typical pro Russian reasoning.

no country has ever threatened Russia

no country has ever tried invading Russia

no country has ever even implied they want to attack Russia

however, Russia has a history of bullying, attacking & invading its neighbours.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

finally

Which side are you saying are commies?

Sooner they find a peaceful solution the better for all concerned.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

uchoosepoorly:

What are you hoping for here? What would you like to see?

I am hoping for a world where the US of A minds its own business and stops stirring up trouble in every single country that doesn't live up to their 'values'. Ordinary American citizens are getting the short end of the stick - look at the infrastructure, healthcare, poverty, crime, incarceration rates, racism. How many more wars does USA want to start? Global hegemony is not a given right.

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

I agree with you Pukey! Thank you for your response. I also hope we can live in a world where the larger nations can mind their own business and not invade other smaller countries. I think we have more similarities than differences, you and I.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

The longer America uses Ukraine to push against Russia and China, the quicker the dollar will be abandoned by more and more countries

Lol You keep saying that, and I have yet to see that happening. You'll notice that the EU is refusing to make payments in rubles.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

And this Surprises you ?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

I've been hearing the the US Dollar will be replaced for at least 30 years. Still waiting.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Now you didn't think Pudding-Head would be a good boy and keep his word, did ya?

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Time and again the Russian Government insisted there would be no invasion/military action against Ukraine.

Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov still to this day insists Russia 'did not attack Ukraine'.

Why would any western government believe or trust anything the Russian government promises, pledges or even signs.

I have never been so frightened in all my life, I can see no end to the lies and deceit. There is a clear risk that Russian Government could escalate this invasion into a full blown war.

3 ( +4 / -1 )
