Mr Kipling
Claimed? The propaganda reporting is getting embarrassing now. Even Zelinskyy admits that Mariupol has fallen.
Cricky
All of this because a small group of Russian speakers living in the Ukrainian could be bothered to learn to speak Ukrainian or make the choice to move to Russia. Now the whole world suffers because of selfishness.
Bob Fosse
Maybe that NATO ‘general’ you kept banging on about can help them. Any updates or is he still in the steelworks?
nandakandamanda
Why are the Russians free to attack Ukrainian cities with cruise missiles?
And why is Ukraine not attacking Russian cities in the same way?
plasticmonkey
Yeah, it's Ukraine's fault for defending itself against invasion.
Putin is such a POS.
Bob Fosse
How did he escape? Oh wait, it’s a body double?
Cricky
Well the myth of Russian military power, that’s been debunked. All they have is Nuclear weapons, and who knows how many are actually functioning. You can’t attack Russia because like North Korea they are very sensitive, and are superior a ‘Master Race’ if you believe what they say.
wtfjapan
Four targets destroyed without a single loss of human life.
Very professional targeting.
oh and how about all those Ukrainian civilians killed raped and executed.
Ukraine targets tanks and APC and has been very effective thanks to western weapons,
Sven Asai
Ah, I see, that’s why several millions fled and after 100 days already 20% of Ukraine territory lost. The reality is, they can’t even hold an own steel factory. You all need a more realistic view on that war, the to be expected outcome and the consequences of those embargoes and boycotts more directed to an economy in the West than of the economy in Russia, because in comparison or size relation they haven’t even any that could be called so and be hurt. Last but not least, the other and bigger global military power’s myth as well as the Russians’ one have already longtime both been debunked equally, in Afghanistan for example.
UChosePoorly
So what are you suggesting, Sven? That Russia shouldn't pay any consequences for its actions?
Haaa Nemui
Hey Sven, don’t forget, Russia is relying on Ukrainian citizens with tanks marked with a big Z
Cricky
Russian missiles have a 60% failure rate, how many Generals have been killed in just three months? The General in charge of electronic warfare was killed after being tracked electronically? How many tanks, troop carriers have been lost. How many men killed, wounded in three months? And they aren’t fighting NATO troops or equipment. That would be disastrous.
Tom San
Oh, so many military experts, in Russia I mean.
u_s__reamer
"...Vladimir Putin warned that any Western deliveries of longer-range rocket systems would prompt Moscow to hit “objects that we haven't yet struck.”
The Russian leader's cryptic threat of military escalation did not specify what the new targets might be.
Pooty can talk the talk, but can't walk the walk (into a war with the West) because, if I know the Russians, someone somewhere in the Kremlin will chop off his hand before he can press the button. In the meantime, the Russian aggressors continue to bleed daily in the field at the hands of the Ukrainian defenders of their land. The political cost to Putin will in the end become unsustainable unless he can claim a tangible victory, a scenario the Ukrainians will never willingly co-script.

If USA wants to have a war with Russia, then they should fight themselves, and not get innocent Ukrainians to act as human shields. USA is going to get Taiwan dragged into their proxy wars next. But then again, USA really doesn't care about the loss of innocent lives. History since the end of WII has shown us that.
Rodney
I wish I could laugh at this, but people are dying. Not just Ukrainian ultranationalist and soldiers or Russian professional young soldiers. Civilians on both sides of the Ukraine border.
while it is great news for western arms dealers and oil companies, the amount of money Ukraine is demanding for high tech weapons and government officials salaries is ludicrous.
anybody who has never left their gated communities probably hasn’t witnessed the mass poverty on the streets of western countries, homelessness, drug addiction, violent crime, desperation,…yet alone the slums of Africa. The knock-on effect of enthusiastically encouraging this war, will capitulate the deaths of 400,000,000 in Africa alone in the coming year or two according to Secretary-General António Guterres.
just pump money into more powerful weapons that kill more civilians, with ordinary US, UK and EU taxpayers money to the most corrupt country in Europe. No Audit. US will give $40billion unaudited funding to Ukraine, which Ukraine insists/demands, 50% will be spent on weapons and the other on government expenses. Only the 123rd most corrupt country in world. No end user, third party licenses for the offensive high tech weapons.
instead of pumping money and weapons into Ukraine, how about sanctioning Ukraine to negotiate peace? Save lives all over the world. Imagine giving $40billion to the residents of Tent City, Sanfrancisco, or building water salivation plants in Africa?
or, just go to war…War.3.
takeda.shingen.1991@gmail.com
Or, you know, Russia could not invade Ukraine. It's pretty pathetic how the some "leftists" want to make the invasion of Ukraine about everything, but Russia making the decision to invade Ukraine.
Haaa Nemui
Punish Ukraine for Russia’s aggression? So any future attack by an aggressor anywhere should result in their target being sanctioned? That’s just stupid.
nandakandamanda
This is a one-sided war that Russia is waging on Ukraine.
Why should anyone want to fight against Russia? The USA does not. NATO does not.
For more than 100 days the world has held back, trying to stop Russia’s attrition by any means, subtle or overt, economic or diplomatic, while still refraining from military involvement. The West does not hate Russia at all, well maybe except for a few small-minded individuals. Just wake up and smell the coffee!
Strangerland
If anything, Russia is provoking NATO by trying to expand Russian borders to those of NATO countries. Why does Russia want to start a war with NATO?
Bob Fosse
Yeah, imagine that. I imagine the GOP would be completely behind giving $40billion to the homeless in California. I can totally see that happening. /s
UChosePoorly
Takeda - yeah, these guys aren't leftists. No leftist would ever support an authoritarian, warmongering kleptocrat like Putin. He is like the opposite of what leftists would support. It's trolls cosplaying as leftists, but not gonna work.
Pukey2
takeda:
So where were you or USA when eastern Ukrainians were being killed on a regular basis by Ukrainian forces since 2014? Were they not caucasian enough for you or as the Azov Battalion and nationalist say, 'too Asian'? When you continually poke the bear, do not be surprised when the bear bites. Absolutely shameful that USA can spend so much money on propping up this war but can't spend a dime on its own people and country. And Europe doesn't give a damn about how its people and economies will suffer. Next winter is going to be really cold.
takeda.shingen.1991@gmail.com
Oh, so now you're pining for the US to inject itself into Ukrainian foreign affairs? Does that somehow justify Russia invading and killing yet more Ukrainians?
Azov exists because Russia funds separatists in Ukraine.
Blacklabel
Oh the things we could have done with 54 billion dollars.
Could harden schools. pay armed guards at every school in the USA, feed the hungry, house the homeless. invest in technology, health care, buy more formula, secure our border.
the possibilities were endless.
The Avenger
Why do other countries announce what type of weapons they are sending to Ukraine - is not that giving away military intelligence to Russia? The US said they are sending long-range missiles and Putin announced that they will retaliate by increasing missile attacks on western Ukraine.
Ukrainian officials have a point: negotiating with Putin is like whispering to an alligator. Instead, one should focus on all the hand-bags that can be made and steaks that can be cooked if the gator is put down.
nandakandamanda
Russia set the annexation scene in sections of Georgia with large Russian-speaking populations.
Then, just to make sure everyone got the picture they did it again on a larger scale in Crimea.
The Donbas was next on the list.
We now clearly know what is ahead.
SuperLib
You went from mocking Obama for not doing more to supporting Trump's multibillion dollar package and now it looks like you opposed to all US aid anywhere.
Can you walk me through that journey? We can start with the blankets.
SuperLib
No problem. Just let us know what you have supported in the past without naming names.
Blacklabel
I am not against aid to those who deserve it. starting with Americans.
You have posters saying the GOP would not do this or would not do that. despite the GOP having nothing to do with this decision, as they are not in power right now.
if the GOP had the singular choice to spend 54 billion dollars on Americans or Ukrainians, they would choose Americans every single time.
Yet certain posters claim that not to be the case, which is false and disingenuous. that would be Democrats who actually had the same choice and gave our money to Ukraine when Americans are in need.
SuperLib
So you supported aid to Ukraine before, but not now. What changed?
Strangerland
Trump refused aid to Ukraine. He actively blocked aid committed to Ukraine by the Republican congress.
Blacklabel
never supported it. Made the point that its embarrassing if you decide to do it without my approval that you only send blankets and meals in a package. at least that wasnt 54 billion dollars worth of blankets.
stormcrow
Men, women are children being viciously killed and tortured by its cruel neighbor. And people here cheering for this senseless violence? It’s both sad and disturbing. If Ukraine wants more help, we should give them that help as soon as possible.
UChosePoorly
Stormcrow - the help will keep coming. In the US, at least, aiding Ukraine against Russia has bipartisan support.
u_s__reamer

And so is the "whataboutery" of whingers on the right. Whatever the fault of the Western powers in their prior handling of Ukraine-Russia relations, they cannot just sit on their hands watching the barbaric assymetrical destruction of Ukrainian territory. Putin must pay, too!
Aly Rustom
well said cleo!
Attilathehungry
As much as I have sympathy for the people of Ukraine, they are simply not that important in the big scheme of things. Whether or not Putin succeeds there won't actually change much. I fail to see how this war is worth any blood or treasure from NATO or other nations. Wish them well, but that is all.
The problem with helping a proto-authoritatian like Zelenskyy is that it discourages any kind of settlement. He figures that he has powerful friends so there is no incentive to negotiate or talk. Ukraine is NOT a free and democratic nation on par with western Europe by any means.
Bob Fosse
You can do any of that, just not all at the same time.
I’d hold off on the border wall shenanigans for a while though, billions wasted there that could have hardened schools, paid armed guards at every school, fed the hungry, housed the homeless, invested in…well, you get the picture.
Government spending is never going to please everyone. If Biden had announced a $54 billion plan to help the homeless and poor you would have been screaming a fit about it, don’t pretend otherwise.
Strangerland
Maybe if someone asked nicely, the Mexicans would pay for a wall...
You could probably run for president on that premise.
Blacklabel
no I wouldnt, because that is helping Americans.
Nice of you to speculate what I would say and do, although its wrong as usual.

Russia hits Kyiv with missiles; Putin warns West on arms:
Putin warned his military will strike "new targets," after Medvedev spoke of hitting "decision-making centers" outside Ukraine.
This is tantamount to imply the war can be extended to neighbors if Russia wants to.
Beware.
Bob Fosse
So the whole ‘build the wall’ was a waste of time, sabotaged by Democrats, wasted billions of dollars to build a few miles and now the border is worse than ever?
”Ever get the feeling you’ve been cheated?”
takeda.shingen.1991@gmail.com
Zelensky is a proto-authoritarian? This must be a meager attempt at humor. While some freedoms have been temporarily suspended, this a direct result of Russia's invasion.
I'm sorry, why should Ukraine have to make a settlement? The Russian government chose to invade, and they deserve to pay a price.
And it won't be as long as Russia meddles in it's affairs. Conversely, integrating Ukraine into the west/EU, will make it a freer, less corrupt, and more democratic country.
takeda.shingen.1991@gmail.com
Let me fix this for you:
No, the war started in 2014 when the Putin regime began funding separatist movements against the population of Donbass.
This isn't true. Azov battalion existed only as a result to Russia funding separatist movements there.

‘Proto-Authoritarian’
I’d like to think dictionary and thesaurus use increased this year, but I know it’s mostly just Facebook bleating.
