The notion of an overweight, deranged, name-calling lunatic, surrounded by slobbering, pandering lapdogs with military messiah complexes, should frighten the sane world into action.

No, we're not talking about Kim Jong Un.

Russia urged "hot heads" to calm down

But will not urge North Korea to stop it's nuclear bomb and missile tests.

The notion of an overweight, deranged, name-calling lunatic, surrounded by slobbering, pandering lapdogs with military messiah complexes, should frighten the sane world into action.

No, we're not talking about Kim Jong Un.

For a second I thought you were talking about a notorious Democrat.

But on a serious note, you want Trump to just let this escalate with Kim? That's just insane and by the way, were it the Sainted Obama doing this or Hillary, you'd be all in, we all know it, but since you and the majority of the left hate Trump he is somehow a warmonger (whatever the hell that means) I didn't the anointed one or even Hillary, but if they were in office and took the same position as Trump and Mattis (who really is the person with the final word on this) I would wholeheartedly support them. I don't care about party lines, but I do care about what  Kim does and I want him stopped or to stop.

But on a serious note, you want Trump to just let this escalate with Kim?

It says a lot about how you think that you believe the only alternative to threatening nuclear annihilation is to do nothing at all.

China's Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang said: "All relevant sides should exercise restraint

Ha! What does china know about restraint

and dedicate themselves to easing the situation rather than irritating each other

Again Ha! Right back at you china. If you truly believed that you wouldn't be doing it yourselves.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

A galling comment, since Russia (together with China) created the hellish nightmare called North Korea in the first place.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

It says a lot about how you think that you believe the only alternative to threatening nuclear annihilation is to do nothing at all.

What is your solution? I think Gen. Mattis has more experience than you and I. We are both mere civilian outsiders that have No idea as to what plans or what contingency or what they have or know about Kim, the region, what they have, what they don’t have, what their real options are and what is permissible or not.

I’m not an emotional person when presenting an argument and I don’t want to see war break out, not at all, but this younger Kim is not like his father or even his grandfather, he is not rational, the man tests a Hydrogen Bomb, are you serious? Sanctions after sanctions have been handed down again and again. The US has tried everything and then some and yet, Trump or rather Haley is once again trying to push for harsher amd more crippling sanctions and then what? Ignore him? Pretend he doesn’t exist and maybe he will go away? What happens if he tests a HB over the ocean? After 25 years and how now this guy has been ratcheting up his rhetoric and his threats against the US, Trump has an obligation to act on that threat and as I said, when it comes to the president choosing between dead SK, NK, Japanese or dead Americans, I think you know where the president stands, I’m sure you know where I stand. He has a chance to stop all this, if he doesn’t and the sanctions or if Rodman can’t persuade him, then as a final last result, the matter will be turned over to Mattis.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

It would be nice if Trump and Un would stfu but I doubt that's going to happen. Russia, on the other hand, isn't doing anything constructive either. We might be left with a situation where Moon of SK is the only voice of reason.

Thus far, surprisingly, Wall Street, the world as a whole doesn't seem to care. They seem strangely indifferent, more concerned with Central Bankers, focused on the heroin of easy money they have been given the past decade (Central Banks have purchased over $11 trillion in assets since 2008! Insane).

I see this apathy changing drastically in the coming months as this crisis continues to unfold.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

After 25 years and how now this guy has been ratcheting up his rhetoric and his threats against the US

25 years? Kim Jong Buta has only been in power since 2011, 25 years ago he was 8 years old. 25 years ago Trump was running around apparently playing with felines.

when it comes to the president choosing between dead SK, NK, Japanese or dead Americans, I think you know where the president stands

So all that rhetoric about we need the US bases to protect Japan, because US servicemen 'would be willing to give their lives' to defend Japan, was .... total claptrap?

Sanctions after sanctions have been handed down again and again. The US has tried everything and then some and yet, Trump or rather Haley is once again trying to push for harsher amd more crippling sanctions and then what?

What do you mean by 'everything'? Sanctions? and then more sanctions? Insanity is repeating the same action and expecting a different outcome.

Thus far, surprisingly, Wall Street, the world as a whole doesn't seem to care.

You just realized that??! Wow!!

> 25 years? Kim Jong Buta has only been in power since 2011, 25 years ago he was 8 years old. 25 years ago Trump was running around apparently playing with felines.

I was talking about the Kim regime which includes his father and grandfather as far as felines, good on him, if I had that kind of mad loot, jets, property, I'd party like its 1999.

So all that rhetoric about we need the US bases to protect Japan, because US servicemen 'would be willing to give their lives' to defend Japan, was .... total claptrap?

No, but the homeland comes first or why should we even have a president.

What do you mean by 'everything'? Sanctions? and then more sanctions?

Yup.

Insanity is repeating the same action and expecting a different outcome.

Well, doesn't seem to be working.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

That's rich coming from Russia, if they were the ones being threatened by NK they would have probably nuked them clean years ago or at the very least engineered another Ukraine situation. Russia isn't a developed or civilized nation and shouldn't even be acknowledged as such. Their silly suggestions mean absolutely nothing when it comes to NK

2 ( +4 / -2 )

North Korea is really backing down from Trump's tough talk.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

North Korea is really backing down from Trump's tough talk.

He doesn't have to, but they will when that Tomahawk missile comes their way.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

engineered another Ukraine situation.

Well, by that logic, Obama, Hillary and Victoria "cookies & coup" Nuland are all Russian spy's since they "engineered" the coup. You must be a blast at parties.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

No, but the homeland comes first or why should we even have a president.

Why don't you just lob the sexual predator at Kim, instead?

"the homeland" - ugh.

My deepest apologies for wanting to care about and put my homeland first.

My deepest apologies for wanting to care about and put my homeland first.

Yes, it succinctly encompasses the attitude by the pro-war crowd here. America Uber Alles. To the detriment of the rest of us.

Trump is not my president and neither American rogue elements or DPRK counterparts have the right to threaten the rest of us.

Republicans really aren't known for their ability to form coalitions. Not since Bush Sr.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Trump seems to have a demeaning nickname for most everyone, but I think the N. Korean may have bested him with 'dotard.' Donald Dotard---yep, it resonates.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

I like Rocket Man suitable name and it has nothing to do with Elton John. LOL

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Here's an idea Russia; meet with China (secretly, of course) and rein the little NK brat in. Do it now and face the new reality---the US is done capitulating to threats from weaker enemies.

A galling comment, since the US created the present nuclear crisis by its aggressions against Iraq and Lybia - countries that abandoned their nuclear programs in exchange for Western sweet talk and deceitful guarantees - thus giving paranoid Kim an ironclad reason not to surrender his nukes. He does not want to repeat the fate of Saddam and Qaddafi and he knows that only nukes can keep the US on the leash.

Sam Watters

Here's an idea Russia; meet with China (secretly, of course) and rein the little NK brat in

How about US doing it instead of endless tough talk Kim absolutely does not care about?

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Bah, putting a weak bully in the Whitehouse has emboldened all the global nutters. It isn't just fatty going ballistic, the Iranians just tested a mid range missile directly to diss Trump.

Who would have thought America's decline could happen so quickly? And cheered on by Trump voting muppets to boot....

0 ( +1 / -1 )

@Asakaze. You are Russian so you understand that Russia along with China prevents the US and other countries from doing just that.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

@Sam Watters

You are Russian

Yawn. The usual trick - call everybody who critisize America a Russian or a Putin agent.

Russia along with China prevents the US and other countries from doing just that

Russia and China did not prevent the US from attacking Iraq and Libya. And these countries were attacked exactly because the US knew very well that they did not posess nukes and were unable to defend themselves against US military might. Now only clear realization that NK has nukes prevents a US miliatry action, not Russian / Chinese machinations.

Now only clear realization that NK has nukes prevents a US miliatry action, not Russian / Chinese machinations.

This is your problem. While I do believe that the US does not need try to solve every single problem in the world, you keep missing the issue that every single one of those countries were being run by regimes/governments/dictators that were doing nothing to improve the lives of their own citizens. Unhappy citizens= misery= rebellion/instability in the region/refugees = war. Iran for example, Corrupt "government" - Miserable citizens - refugees/High regional tensions with their neighbors - war.

Another misguided assumption on your behalf is, just because a nation owns nuclear weapons doesn't mean they will not be attacked. Pakistan has nukes, India has nukes... BUT because they have not used a ton of rhetoric like "we'll wipe other countries off the map" the global community has a modicum of trust in those countries to NOT USE THEM. Nobody with common sense trusts North Korea to not start a nuclear war just because they feel like it. North Korea also has Corrupt government regime/dictator - Miserable citizens - Refugees/defectors - instability in the region (how many missile launches has NK done that agitates its neighbors???) - WAR.

Appeasement didn't work, NK needs to be finished off so that a united Korea under a peaceful government (South Korea) = Happy NK citizens = severely reduced tensions with neighbors due to no NK regime = peace in the region. China doesn't want that, because they believe keeping the global "eye" on NK will distract from their own expansionist policies in the region.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

North Korea is merely provoking and should the US be so fooling has to engage them, than The Koreas will be reunited, but under the Norther Regime and baked by China.

Russia is a voice of reason here as farnasnthisnissue is concerned.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

@Asakaze. No, in an earlier discussion regarding the islands off Hokkaido you insinuated that you were a Russian and had a better understanding of the Northern Terrorities. If I am mistaken about your being a Russian then I apologize----besides I, as a Trump supporter, is usually the one being called a Russian! About NK, you are correct regarding military actions or lack thereof but it has been a Russia and China who have stopped United Nation-led actions agsinst NK for, decades. It is those that I was referring to.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Bah, putting a weak bully in the Whitehouse has emboldened all the global nutters.

How? They were on a roll already from the last 8 years when the anointed one capitulated to every adversary, Trump on the other hand just threatened to NOT due any banking business transactions that deal with NK. That got China’s attention real quick and now they’re listening. Brilliant!

It isn't just fatty going ballistic, the Iranians just tested a mid range missile directly to diss Trump.

Yeah and after they get hit with a fresh dose of harsh pounding sanctions, let’s see how long that will last.

Who would have thought America's decline could happen so quickly? And cheered on by Trump voting muppets to boot....

I looked at the stock market today, it’s starting to really roar and been on a steady uptick. The last president couldn’t even get the economy GDP up to 3%.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Bombers B 1 B are flying in the air near N Korea right now.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

How? They were on a roll already from the last 8 years

Why do you think NK is doing so many more provocative acts under Trump than Obama?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Why do you think NK is doing so many more provocative acts under Trump than Obama?

Progress doesn't stop, it moves forward. They didn't stop under Obama and then started when Trump took over and Thank God for Trump, were Obama in office now, we would be looking at an even bleaker situation of complete capitulation.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

@Sam Watters

in an earlier discussion regarding the islands off Hokkaido you insinuated that you were a Russian and had a better understanding of the Northern Terrorities. If I am mistaken about your being a Russian then I apologize

You mistook me for somebody else. Regarding the Northern territories I only wrote that it was good Russia and Japan increase cooperation there because it was mutually beneficial. Anyway, glad to see that we share the understanding that arguments should be based on logic, not on labeling your opponent by nationality, eye color etc. lol

it has been a Russia and China who have stopped United Nation-led actions agsinst NK for, decades

Can't agree with you on that. Russia and China have supported UN sanctions that seriously restricted NK capabilities. Their approach differ to US only in that they want to avoid war, since it will be on their borders and they'll have to deal with all consequences. As some posters already noted, Russia is a voice of reason here.

@HonestDictator

This is your problem

How come your misguided assumptions and profound ignorance are my problem? Some glaring examples:

every single one of those countries were being run by regimes/governments/dictators that were doing nothing to improve the lives of their own citizens

To your surprise, the life of ordinary Iraqis or Libyans was a WAY much better before the aggressions of 2003 / 2011. Saddam and Qaddafi were rather unsavory characters, but they were clever enough to share some of their money with their citizens, making prewar living standards unattainable dreams for most of present day Iraqis and Libyans. Libya even ceased to exist as a whole country! Do you really believe that life in a battle zone is good?

just because a nation owns nuclear weapons doesn't mean they will not be attacked

Ever heard the words "nuclear deterrent"? Had Saddam actually possessed nukes the invasion of 2003 would have never happened. And now Kim cleverly plays lunatic to convince the US that he will not hesitate to use nukes in case of US military action against him.

NK needs to be finished off

OK, Custer, what's the plan of achieving it? The US is unable to finish off several dozens of thousand of Taliban and Daesh, and now you want to start a war against a million army?

Happy NK citizens = severely reduced tensions with neighbors

Have the wars in Afghanistan / Iraq / Libya made locals happy, helped to slow the tide of refugees, reduced regional tensions?

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

What do you mean by 'everything'? Sanctions? and then more sanctions?

Yup.

Insanity is repeating the same action and expecting a different outcome.

Well, doesn't seem to be working.

So... you say 'Yup' to something you admit doesn't work? Why?

My deepest apologies for wanting to care about and put my homeland first.

Apology not accepted. If you're going to act like the World Police, then you have an obligation to take into consideration everyone and everything affected by your dumb, war-mongering actions. All Lives Matter, remember? If you want to keep chanting Merka Furst, then leave the rest of us out of your madness.

Put the two fatties in a locked room together, let them battle it out with good old fashioned fisticuffs (or they can just hurl childish insults and beanbags at each other, that seems more their style) and leave the rest of us out of it.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Trump took over and Thank God for Trump, were Obama in office now, we would be looking at an even bleaker situation of complete capitulation.

Do you think NK would be launching more missiles and increasing their rhetoric if Obama were in office now?

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

@Asakaze, I don't agree with everything that my country gets involved in, some countries should be left alone to sort out their own issues *depending on the level of tensions they can cause in their regions. But in regards to that NK is the immediate threat as they're blatantly aiming towards using nuclear weapons in an attempt to force others to their ideas of power. You're coming from the point of view that NK is only trying to get nukes for "deterrence" from US (you completely forget South Korea and Japan are tired of NK as well) when I and a lot of other people comprehend that NK under it's current "government" will not be using it for deterrence, but for aggression and what KJU's regime deems as "power". Japan and South Korea are US allies. NK is and has actively threatened the US and our allies in the region in more recent months (not that our POTUS helps in the least bit), and that has been going on for faw

But the fact is, NK is aiming for WMDs and nuclear ones at that. Libya wasn't. Afghanistan was invaded due to their Taliban governance not taking care of terrorist training camps in their region which helped increased global Islamic extremist terrorism (but that also could have been dealt with better than destroying the Taliban).

Another thing you keep missing, is what is NK's government actually doing. And yes, their priority should be supporting and improving the lives of their people. They continue not to do that. If the US left NK alone, the regime would still not take care of their people. They will focus on developing weapons to gain more "power" in the region. And all that "secret support" that China thought would help make NK more powerful would only end up threatening them in the end. The US had done it before with other regimes and it never turned out well did it? Wise men (and countries) learn from other peoples mistakes. And the saying goes, "Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it." China hasn't learned, and Russia hasn't learned because they're doing the exact same things and expecting different results.

I'm just going to sit back and watch the nuclear/chemical fireworks go off when it reaches full head and wait for humanity to die. We've worked hard for our own destruction.

Didn't fully complete what I wanted to say, but I've got work to get to. Meh.
