RIP to those murdered. Condolences to their families. Knock wood those injured will heal quickly and fully.

"The King said that the Saudi people are greatly angered

Except those people who glory in killing infidels.

Navy program that offers training to U.S. allies,

When historical allies are alienated and your remaining allies are snakes, expect to be bitten.

military personnel normally are restricted from carrying weapons on base unless they are part of their daily duties.

Lax gun control once again. An American sickness.

Take the dog out and by the time I get back there is either Trump has a new low or there's been another shooting.

America is in a collapse, and Republicans are to blame.

Lax gun control once again. An American sickness.

Lax enforcement of firearm regulation. Other than that, I absolutely agree with the rest of your post, and Joe’s.

-2 ( +6 / -8 )

I doubt it is lax enforcement on a military base with laws handed down by the Pentagon, but then we will have to see whether this was a 'personal' weapon or not.

Ok, so it’s ok to use a gun to kill a radical jihadist....well, thank God Someone was able to use a firearm to take this individual out. Maybe the military needs to rethink their gun free zones and allow soldiers to carry firearms.

Dunno how Trump fits into this, but I’m sure liberals like Joe can give some lame illogical reason.

America is in a collapse, and Republicans are to blame.

What?

@basf4 Someone was able to use a firearm to take this individual out.

The 'logic' escapes me. A criminal uses a gun to murder innocents and the gun owner's defense is it's all right because someone used a firearm to take him out. Not why was the murderer able to have a firearm. And what kind of firearm did he have to do so much damage so quickly.

Maybe the military needs to rethink their gun free zones and allow soldiers to carry firearms.

Only someone who's never been associated with the military could think that.

Yes or are you saying they should have used batons or mace or maybe they should have tried to wrestle the guy to the ground?

Good question, I am just happy that he’s deceased and praise to the people that ended it.

Only someone who's never been associated with the military could think that.

Been with them twice embedded, I have more than enough and seen enough, would never change my mind on the right to use firearms.

No its not. 266 000 jobs created last month. Economy on fire. yeah, I know, this is Obamas contribution, Trump had nothing to do with it.

This shooting was done by a Saudi; under a program thats been in place for a long time. The US should stop training these people and let them sort out their own business.

This is akin to someone withdrawing $1000 in cash off their credit card, and then walking around and saying "Check it out, I'm ballin'".

Maybe the military needs to rethink their gun free zones and allow soldiers to carry firearms.

Former soldier speaking. This is idiotic. First, the military doesn’t have gun free zones, military bases are full of firearms. Second, members of the armed forces aren’t allowed to carry firearms around at random because of this thing called military discipline, something civilians who say stuff like this don’t understand. Its not some liberal plot at work or whatever you think, its part of the fact that every aspect of the lives of military personnel down to the minutest detail are controlled in order to maintain discipline.

Yeah, that talking point won’t help a single Democrat win against Trump. I wouldn’t even bring it up in a debate for fear of being left out of the room.

Trump: I'm killing it with the economy

Democrats: Um, you are pumping up the economy by borrowing money, driving the debt above $20 trillion

Trump supporters: that talking point won’t help a single Democrat win against Trump. I wouldn’t even bring it up in a debate for fear of being left out of the room.

My facepalm just did a facepalm.

Democrats solution: income redistribution tax the rich out of existence, tax and middle-class, Medicare for all, entitlements for illegals, increase entitlement programs, free education, student loan relief, raising the minimum wage and thereby raising prices in restaurants, punish success, that’s the Democrats solution or you can calculate The tax plans and most notably from Elizabeth Warren which would run around $33 trillion, so another words the Democrats have shot themselves again in the foot. There is just no way and especially now that we can all see this president, this is going to be a very wonderful and merry Christmas people are going to be splurging this year.

Can we withhold aid until Saudi Arabia does "us" a favor?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Another shooting! America is cursed by guns. I wonder how many people were shot to death in America so far this year. It must be new record.

I think there needs to be a complete and utter ban of Saudis, until they can figure things out.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

Saudi Air Force officers selected for military training in the United States are intensely vetted by both countries.

Obviuously we need to improve the vetting process. On both ends. Saudi program participation should be suspended immediately until an investigation is conducted and reaches a conclusion.

This may come as a shock, but I actually wouldn’t argue that point

In Switzerland so many people own guns like Americans, but they don't shoot each other. Switzerland must have a good gun control. Americans better learn something from Swiss, otherwise gun shootings would never stop.

We have a Saudi national in the SAAF who stole a handgun and killed some people for an unknown reason before 7am.

Military bases have MPs who are trained to deal with normal police-type situations with military people. I'm wondering why Sheriffs are involved at all.

Also, it is extremely common for hundreds of families to live on-base in housing. BB-guns are included in these rules as "firearms" for the Navy. State issued concealed weapons license are not in effect on Federal land, including military posts. Personal firearms may only be stored in the installation’s armory, if the member is living on base and only with prior written approval to have a weapon from the post commander.

Transferring a firearm requires that it be unloaded, with the weapon and

ammunition as far apart as the transportation vehicle allows.

“Violations are punishable under Article 92, Uniform Code of Military

Justice, by two years confinement, dishonorable discharge, forfeiture of

all pay and allowances, and reduction to pay grade E-1.”

I can't see how a visiting foreign national to a Navy base would have any access to a handgun on base and cannot see how he might have purchased one on town. In Florida, there is a mandatory 3-day waiting period for any firearm purchase which may be longer if the background check takes longer. It was per-meditated murder.

Heartwarming to see Donny standing up for the Saudis and releasing statements on their behalf.

He has earned every Riyal they ever paid him.

Saudi pilots, as we have seen, are capable of doing a lot more damage. I wonder why the killer chose to use a gun instead of crashing a jet into a school or shopping mall.

Saudi Arabia's embassy in Washington did not respond to questions

Donald Trump will send condolence to the Crown Prince of Saudis "M.B.S" for the lost of their matyr!

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

With 15 of the 19 hijackers being Saudi nationals, it's amazing how nice the US is to continue training Saudi Arabian nationals to fly and be soldiers. Oil really does talk.

Came to look for this article and JT comments; the usuals did not disappoint.

Regardless of the circumstances, the sides form their lines and spout their well rehearsed lines.

hold on I thought Muslims were banned from entering the US, oops forgot this guy is Saudi, they got a free pass from the ban, sort of shows you that Trumps muslim ban like most of his policies are ineffective in stopping terrorism

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

I work locally here in another town in Florida. I recently became aware of the fact there are a few Saudi personnel here as well. Frankly, this doesn’t really come as a surprise.

Another day, another massacre ... the killings have got to stop.

For all the recent tensions, I never heard of a Russian or Chinese soldier or national doing such things in the US and yet we consider them enemies.

That's because since they are not allles they'd never be participating in such a program on US soil.

you know who aren't allies are the 911 terrorists and the Saudis that fund terrorist groups, yet theyre from a muslim majority country that isnt on the banned list. seems hypocritical doesn't it especially since their the highest risk group

A quick look at some Arab news sources shows that Saudis are horrified at this shocking incident.

"He does not represent us"

The utterly ignorant, misinformed comments are mind-numbing. This was a Naval Air Station, not a weapons/ammunition depot. In general, private firearms are prohibited on station, only the base police are armed.

This was plainly an act of terrorism by adherants to the particular theological persuasion that must be unnamed.

Exactly. Only the base Military Police would have any firearms, and only when on duty. The rest of the time, those service weapons would be locked up. They are checked out by an individual and returned by that same individual.

? How did this killer get any firearm?

? What specific training was he at the NAS to receive?

? Was this visit to the US for training the first visit outside Saudi Arabia? Or was this one of multiple ex-Saudi Arabia travels? A 2nd Lt is the lowest officer in an Air Force. Was this person being fast-tracked by specific superiors? Why?
