Dems can just allow more migrants to counteract this gerrymandering. Which is anyway common across the US and works both ways.

Hispanic voters tend to vote for Democrats. The Texas GOP redraws the districts to disadvantage Democrats. So even though Sen. Joan Huffman can claim that the GOP is not discriminating directly against minorities, they are using statistics about minorities' voting tendencies to win an unfair advantage.
So she's being disingenuous at best.

I'm all for nonpartisan commissions to draw electoral maps. Some states (such as Michigan, California, Idaho, Colorado, Washington, etc.) do this already. It's a healthier way.
What do our Republican friends think of this idea? Are you in favor of nonpartisan commissions?

The final respites of the lesser-educated white voter (The only solid GOP demographic in the States at the moment): gerrymandering and voter suppression laws to keep them in power when demographics cannot.

Good! Blue states such as Illinois are doing the same thing.

Wouldn't it be better for democracy if nobody did this gerrymandering? I'm for nonpartisan commissions. What about you?
Blacklabel
Yes that would be fine. However:

Yes, and however Texas and other GOP gerrymanders.
I believe that a bipartisan effort is needed to make the redistricting process less partisan.

Why do Trump people (starting with Texas) want to ban abortions? Why is this policy so important to them?
Blacklabel
Democrats in Congress can pass a bill. They control all branches of government. They didnt include this in their legislation.
Instead they spend their time redistricting their Trump hating ally Adam Kinzinger right out of a job. if that isnt hilarious and incompetent I dont know what is.

"I love it when democracy is usurped" - a law and order Republican.

Controlling women's sexuality is of vital importance to the right.

Trump people should support abortion since aborted fetuses will automatically go to heaven, that that is what evangelical Kenneth Copeland (with a private jet) type Trump people believe in. Then it's not about the saving the baby, it's about controlling women. How cruel. They want to bad abortions 100% and no exceptions.
