Best luck to her. She will face death if she is returned. At best, the living death of being housebound and covered in a black tent for the rest of her life.

Women have few rights in fundamentalists Muslim counties.
"Family matter" is code for - take her home, put her into a women's detention center and keep her under supervision for the rest of her life. All this because she doesn't want to do what the males in her family want.
https://www.bbc.com/news/blogs-trending-40105983 is the story of a 2017 attempt by a Saudi woman to flee her family in Saudi Arabia. She was unsuccessful. Lasloom is believed to have been moved from a detention centre to a shelter, but this cannot be confirmed.

Doesn't seems very well engaged as Australia cancelled her visa ...

I wish someone gives asylum to this young lady, she will certainly face punishment and possibly death if she is sent back.
I hope Australia cancelled her tourist visa in order to process a refugee application, otherwise its disgraceful.

I agree, but any state doing so risks alienating the Saudis, a state that's shown it's not afraid to commit high profile murder of those critical of them.

and USA considers Saudi an ally - what a sick world.

I'm sure she will, but it doesn't look like Thailand will. Obviously the entire middle east is out. As an intelligent and independent young woman she would be an asset to any country - they should be fighting for her.

That's not how it's supposed to work. Granting asylum is something only white countries are obliged to do, according to the global community. I recall when Vietnamese boat people were arriving in Okinawa and Kyushu in the 80s, how the UNCHR scrambled to get them to Australia, the US, Canada, etc. Japan took a tiny number, but very reluctantly.
Personally, I'd gladly accept Thailand. Love it there.
