There have been very few Democrats that put the blame on Trump, ( of course Beto because he is from El Paso and campaigning for President) Other than that there have been very few Democrats blaming Trump for this trouble. Democrats know that this is a bi-partisan issue and they never speak of gun control on the campaign trail. Words have consequences. Trump has not created this hate: he's just encouraged it to bare its ugly face. "Hey, if the president is saying this, I can, too" some think, and others, "Hey, if everyone is saying this, I can act on it."

I don't think you can lay the blame for this directly at Trump's feet. These killings are irrational actions by irrational humans. But the fact is they are acts of hatred, and Trump is stoking hatred in America. So it's hard to find him blameless either.

Also, what is amazing is that the police in Drayton responded to this shooting in 60 seconds. Yet, the shooter was able to kill 9 people and wounding 26 others. I'm pretty sure you can't do that level of carnage with a knife in 60 seconds. Guns are the problem.

Right. So, when a Muslim commits an act of violence, it's because of his religion. When a Black person commits a crime, it's because of his skin color, but when a White person commits a mass slaughter, it has nothing to do with his skin color, religion, nationality, or anything that may put a negative light on his group. It is entirely the fault of this one individual, and his mental issues, definitely nothing to do with being externally influenced, no need to blame his group or look for external influences.

This is called White privilege. The privilege of being given the benefit of the doubt. The privilege to be judged by your own individual actions, and not be guilty by association.

When a black person commits a crime, his entire group gets the blame. When a Hispanic or Muslim commits a crime, their group gets the blame. When a White person commits a crime, he is judged as an individual, his group does not get blamed. It's called privilege.

For someone so ultra sensitive to words like Trump, how can he not understand how his words have an effect on the way other people are perceived, and subsequently, treated. Unless of course, he does understand, but his desire to "win" is greater than his consideration for the way certain minorities are perceived.

I am not putting all the blame on Trump. White nationalism and anti-Black/Hispanic/Muslim sentiments are a part of a much more complex issue. It has existed decades before Trump, and most likely will continue to exist decades after Trump is long gone. It doesn't matter who becomes the next president, and how they speak, or what they say, the people who commit these acts of violence get indoctrinated online, and they hardly care who is the president.

I agree with the first half, but with the second, none of this has anything to do with the President, either to be exact, but changing the constitution will not change anything, you will never see a sweeping of confiscation of guns whatsoever, it just won’t happen. The bigger problem rests with certain individuals that should never have guns, not the NRA and demonizing it is a very dicey move for Democrats and they know it, they talk a lot, but to move against them or touch the 2nd amendment is political suicide, maybe the screening process needs to change or we need to have a better system in evaluating potential people that are prone to violent outbursts, guns with sensors, there is a lot we can do, but throwing false and senseless blame to the President or playing the race card will never solve the situation, it won’t. There have always been people with the "send them back" mindset. America, Australia, New Zealand, England... It's nothing new. What is new is a leader who stokes that fire. That's where Trump is responsible. He's been pushing that. More might come and if that is the reason then he is responsible for those too.... and when it isn't illegal but legal immigrants who are bearing the brunt of the attacks... that's showing racism because people will be targeted just for looking like they come from somewhere else. Pres. Obama didn’t encourage white supremacy, nor did Pres. Obama engage in stochastic terrorism. We have to use our brains!

During the combined presidencies of Reagan, GHW Bush, Clinton, and GW Bush, there were a total of 23 mass shootings in America -- resulting in 218 deaths.

During Obama's presidency alone, there were 24 mass shootings resulting in 236 deaths.

I don't remember any blame for this being affixed to Obama -- at least not to anything near the level of vitriol as we see now being slung at Trump.

Some, but not all states have passed "Red Flag" laws which allow a family member or police to petition a judge to remove guns from individuals who pose a threat to themselves or others. 

We have seen no action on this from the republican controlled Senate despite the attempts by the democratic controlled House. Republicans have zero solutions and are only capable of obstructing.

Coming from the guy stoking the vast majority of this hate, those words mean exactly nothing. He's been fueling white supremacy since the day he took office. He is the last person to preach that hate has no place in the US, or to claim that he or his cabinet will do anything at all about it.

Perhaps Trump needs to take a look at the Facebook profile of the El Paso gunman. Specifically the photo where the gunman spelled out Trump's name in firearms. This wasn't due to mental illness or video games, as Trump and his followers love to blame. This was down to Trump, and the GOP's insistance upon selling its soul to the NRA. Mitch McConnell himself blocked two common sense gun safety laws just recently. Just in time for these mass shooting to take place. But we've come to expect that from Moscow Mitch, who has also been blocking bills on election security, leaving America's election system wide open to Russian interference. Again.

You want to take care of it? Well, that's pretty easy to do. Stop blocking gun safety laws. Stop being bought out by the NRA. Hold the NRA accountable for these mass shootings. They are complicit. By buying out senators and even the President, the NRA are technically guilty of Aiding and Abetting. They need to be held accountable and be forced to pay reparations to the families of every mass shooting victim since the NRA's founding. Lastly, the US citizens need to stop voting in people who only offer "thoughts and prayers" and start voing in politicians who will actually do something. Until these things happen, mass shootings will carry on, day in, day out.
