Although China is increasingly upset by North Korea’s "aggressive development and testing of its nuclear and missile program and has imposed a relatively strict set of sanctions" under US pressure and in line with UN Security Council resolutions, as neighbors, they still maintain normal trade. China is worried of going too far to isolate the North.

Dodging American spy satellites that keep an eye on the economic lifeline for North Korea, the Sino-Korean Friendship Bridge in Dandong comes to life after sunset. Trucks laden with Chinese goods rumble across the main bridge, but they often return empty, suggesting that while China sells more goods to North Korea, it is buying less from there.

It looks as though sanctions don't bite as hard as the world anticipates, as Pyongyang receives trade credits from Beijing. While North Korea’s export income dwindles, it can still procure goods to keep its urban elites happy.

And Trump believes what Xi says. Like he believes what Vlad says. His motto should be "America Last".

He said it was "unacceptable" that the U.S. trade deficit with other nations stands at about $800 billion a year and promised to "start whittling that down as fast as possible." He did not say how he planned to achieve that goal.

Nearly half of that is our trade deficit with China alone.

Although it's good that China is finally saying that a simple freeze is no longer acceptable and that only complete denuclearization can solve the current crisis, what exactly will they be willing to do to achieve this goal?

That China does not really consider a deranged, rogue, nuclear armed NK with the capability to extinguish half a billion Chinese people within 20 minutes a threat, speaks far, far more about the long term goals of the Communists

The cart is before the horse. SK's President Moon needs to stop making statements such as NK's arsenal is too well developed to quickly destroy. Yes, SK is in the first target, but giving Kim more confidence just increases the possibility of total destruction. Why doesn't he just say, "SK accepts the nuclear weapons" and move on until a mistake is made? Moon has about 15 seconds to make the phone call before the call is disconnected.

He tweeted criticism at The New York Times. He said the paper "hates" that he has good relationships with world leaders and "they should realize that these relationships are a good thing, not a bad thing." He called the paper "naive (or dumb)" on foreign policy.

If Trump believes he has good relationships with other world leaders, he's as naive (or dumb) as the paper he's slagging off.

That said; it's good that Xi is working to rein in the DPRK but I fear the ridding of its arsenal will be another matter entirely. Perhaps China and the US should lead by example and ditch their WMDs.

Ok, and when are other countries going to get rid of their WMDs?

China is still playing NK as a useful puppet, so fundamentally nothing has changed.

Anybody who takes the NK kabuki show at face value is on the intellectual level of CNN consumers.

Looks like someone is talking out his rear end. Again. Come on Trump, there are factories in SEA and SAM that can make your neckties.
