@CrazyJoe: Why not run a story about how all the Republicans cheering this stupid love affair used to whine about Obama even offering to talk to N Korea "without preconditions?"

I am a Conservative (not Republican) but I agree. When Obama said he was willing to meet with Iran and North Korean leaders I thought it was ridiculous for a US president to legitimize their terrorist regimes. Obama went on to be accommodating to Kim’s communist regime and gave billions in cash and guaranteed the legitimatization of the Iranian religious zealots nuclear program. Trump should be treating the North Koreans exactly as he is treating Iran today. Trump has so far shown that he will not get rolled by a bad deal but when leaders start dreaming about Nobel Peace prizes anything can happen.

not at all, it it helps to prevent this from happening again someday. We also have a "friendship" with Japan and Germany, are those ok? Gemany was invited to the D-Day celebration and they were the ones who everyone was fighting at that time.

If we dont talk to NK, they wont change. If we do, they might. worth trying.

3 ( +11 / -8 )

historic event, liberals still not happy.

4 ( +11 / -7 )

No warmongering and engaging in dialogue, I would call that progress

Much better than the Twitter lashings and bombastic rhetoric that you loved so much, eh? I've always supported Trump talking to Un. But so far the only thing he's produced are photo ops while giving away concessions. NK isn't any closer to denuclearizing at all.

You picked the wrong man for the job. All he does is fail on the world stage.

-2 ( +6 / -8 )

Well that was a complete was of time.

-6 ( +3 / -9 )

Takeda Shingen: "And for what its worth, can anyone of the Trumpies here explain the inconsistencies between how Trump treats NK and Iran? They're both murderous, authoritarian regimes. They both want nukes. The only difference is one of them rights Donny sweet little love letters."

Easy.

The world is filled with goodies and baddies, right?

The leaders of Iran show hostile intent to the US, so they must be 'hostiles'. For good measure Homeini used to wear a black turban, which made it even easier to see which side he represented.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

"I was proud to step over the line,"

Yeah, we all know from his sordid past record how much Trump loves stepping over lines, a fatal weakness (among many) that one day may give him another "first": the first POTUS to get the "Pen" instead of a pension! When Trump is not doing "executive time watching trash TV and chowing down cheeseburgers and "freedom fries", or getting some postprandial exercise in his golf cart, he loves nothing better than grandstanding with world celebrities. Thus his "date" with the "Dear Leader Jr" is patently devoid of any substance and more of a performance to slyly remind the Scandinavians that he's still up for that Peace Prize he so covets. One thing that cannot be denied, though, is that Trump's idiosyncratic, bull-in-a-china shop behavior is taking him to places where establishment politicians fear to tread, but whether it all will end well, still remains very much in doubt since "Putin's Poodle" could also end up as Kim's "Sugar Daddy".

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

Lots of photo ops. Zero progress.

No warmongering and engaging in dialogue, I would call that progress, Obama....uh...nothing, but yeah, he looked good in a suit.

Why not run a story about how all the Republicans cheering this stupid love affair used to whine about Obama even offering to talk to N Korea "without preconditions?"

When he was the President he still could have done it without listening to the GOP or going in with any preconditions and he still didn’t, because it wasn’t as important as implementing his government dependent policies, now when it came to that, the man was laser focused and made sure that always had the highest priority.

Now Trump calls him up begging that he come out for a photo opp. It's an utter disgrace for our country.

I see, so if he were to go to war, that would be a disgrace, talking to him, that’s just as well as a disgrace, so what about looking at him, exchanging glances, would that be suitable for liberals or sending coded messages? Naw, that would be somewhat treasonous for liberals. Maybe just sitting across from each other would be acceptable.

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

I think this is probably one of my favorite Bass quotes about Obama and Liberals:

Obama's response to North Korea will be the same as previous responses, he will bribe them with cash and food if they promise not to do it again. And, like after the previous responses, it will have no effect.

Gee, you just summed up Obama as if his actions were somehow predictable. Lol The favorite flag color for liberals is White.

How is Trump any different than any other previous admins? Does the egg on your face taste sweet or salty?

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Here's the reality: Trump has already achieved more in two years than any of his predecessors. Whether the fact-deniers can swallow their pride is another matter.

As a reminder, JFK had direct communication with the Soviet leader during the most dangerous time. Trump has managed to get the process started to defuse the DPRK situation and possibly even lead to a peace accord.

0 ( +6 / -6 )

Zero progress.

Au contraire! They are talking. More than Nobel Peace Prize winner Obama accomplished.

Boromir: One does not simply walk into North Korea.

Trump: Hold my sparkling water.

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

Lots of photo ops. Zero progress.

was interested to see how the liberals on here would handle this and true to form there is the usual bile amusingly! Better to talk than swapping nuclear missiles.

Name calling aside, posters here have been calling for dialogue for years.

It's the far right contingent living thousands of miles away, who called for nuking the DPRK.

But hey, who cares about truth anymore?

0 ( +5 / -5 )

ivanka is being prepped for the oval.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Well done to our great President for meeting Kim. I was interested to see how the liberals on here would handle this and true to form there is the usual bile amusingly! Better to talk than swapping nuclear missiles.

President Trump is absolutely a shoo-in for his second term next year!

2 ( +7 / -5 )

And for what its worth, can anyone of the Trumpies here explain the inconsistencies between how Trump treats NK and Iran? They're both murderous, authoritarian regimes. They both want nukes. The only difference is one of them rights Donny sweet little love letters.

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

Another photo opportunity for the country consumption of the masses.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

And Trump haters' heads explode!

Trump disciples love using violent imagery.

Which is fine, apparently. But pointing out that others advocated dialogue all along, rather than call for conflict is considered too much.

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

Well, that feeling is mutual and yet, they all later want to do a deal.

Who is they all? On who have Donny's tactics worked? Iran? nope. China? Nope. NK? Nope. Trump went to NK and all he got is dumb photo to placate the base.

But you don’t want him to go to war either, so what is it you want, the dove or the bullet?

This is what is known as a false dichotomy. I don't want war, nor do I want a president legitimizing a murderous, authoritarian regime. I guess you don't want that?

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

Let me know when he actually accomplishes something.

-1 ( +9 / -10 )

I care that there have been no missiles flying over japan the past few years. I think most Japanese people are happy about that. People in Guam care too. And people in Seoul are really happy— and really care.

Say what you want but the only person who has done more than Trump to make peace with North Korea was Dennis Rodman. And his trips to Noko were ignored by Obama. Did Hilary do much to help with this when she was Sec of State? Did Kerry? Did anyone else?

Little Rocket Man was a simple agenda. Not to be killed. After that- he probably wants to have Apple Stores and Coke machines in Pyongyang one day. And he’d like to visit Disney world some day. Maybe have a Disneyland in Noko.

Trump probably told him in Singapore, that if Lil Rocket Man doesn’t want to die- and wants to have any hope of his country not being blown to smithereens- his only chance is to trust Trump and the “process.” And not to worry about what the media and the haters/doubters say. And between then and the next US election— the problems will be sorted out.

It’s not easy to reverse 70 years of war and expect that suddenly the hermit kingdom is going to become a fun loving democracy like South Korea or Japan. Kim’s nukes are their only bargaining chip.

(And people seem to ignore China’s perspective on “things related to the future” of the peninsula..)

Wars are easy to start. But communicating, as proven throughout history, is the only way to stop or prevent them...

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Congratulations Trump..and Kim.

Trump 2020.

1 ( +9 / -8 )

And Chairman Kim is not as terrible as all the liberal media and posters who call him nasty names keep claiming.

Apart from the murders, concentration camps, keeping his people oppressed and all that launching missiles over Japan.

Yeah, great guy.

1 ( +7 / -6 )

Trump and Kim. BFF. How nice. I'm sure this will lead to world peace.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Lolz no one trusts porky. No one. They can see agreements mean nothing to Donny. He will tear up agreements whenever he feels like.

Well, that feeling is mutual and yet, they all later want to do a deal.

Whats the message here? Fire a lot of missiles and Donny will let you walk all over him?

But you don’t want him to go to war either, so what is it you want, the dove or the bullet?

Another hilarious post from the poorly educated. Love it.

Liberals can’t help it, but I still try my best to be patient.

0 ( +7 / -7 )

President Carter (ex) was the first president to put his foot on North Korean soil during the Clinton admin.

That's nice and?

-1 ( +8 / -9 )

Businessman Trump and most of Americans do not care what will happen in this region - affairs on the other side of the globe. Nukes of North Korea are not a direct threat to U.S.  Next move will be withdrawing U.S. Forces from South Korea. That will become a prize for him. Eventually from Japan too. Trump thinks by that, they can save money.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

but as long as he can try and get Kim to trust him, now that he sees Trump is not like any of the last 3 Presidents

Lolz no one trusts porky. No one. They can see agreements mean nothing to Donny. He will tear up agreements whenever he feels like.

that allowed him to go wild, the sanctions have been heavy, not easy, been hurting him and it has been very noticeable.

Lolz NK fired more missiles under Donny's administration than any other administration. Patently false.

Whats the message here? Fire a lot of missiles and Donny will let you walk all over him?

Another hilarious post from the poorly educated. Love it.

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

Even democrats fought in the Korean War.

You wouldn’t know that now.

-3 ( +6 / -9 )

Whether or not one supports President Trump, no one can deny that he is the first President in American history to be humiliated by the leaders of Iran, Russia, and North Korea, in the same week.

-2 ( +9 / -11 )

If only the Don could overide the neocons and move towards a solution with Iran and Venezuela too.

I keep telling y'all Trump has the neocons ( and neo-libs ) on a tight leash. So far so good.

-1 ( +7 / -8 )

Trump then became the first sitting American leader to step into North Korea.

And Trump haters' heads explode!

-6 ( +9 / -15 )

Love this President. The man once again, showing it how it’s done. Kudos. Take things slow, never listen to the media or the haters because if he uses diplomacy, they’ll moan and groan, if he saber rattles, they’ll moan and groan, either way and in the end it doesn’t matter, but as long as he can try and get Kim to trust him, now that he sees Trump is not like any of the last 3 Presidents that allowed him to go wild, the sanctions have been heavy, not easy, been hurting him and it has been very noticeable.

-2 ( +12 / -14 )

Ah, Ivanka and Jared are there. I was worried if these nuclear arms negotiations were going to go smoothly, but I feel so much more relived now that the real experts are in the room. [/sarcasm]

1 ( +9 / -8 )

I think Trump looks just as foolish standing next to Kim at the DMZ as he did standing next to him in Singapore or Vietnam, and just as foolish as he does standing (or sitting) next to anybody (or by himself).

Two men in badly-fitting suits and even worse hairstyles.

They were made for each other.

I think Trump is sending a message to Iran

Yup. I'll smile and hold your hand and say we're in love once you have nuclear weapons.

-6 ( +6 / -12 )

I think Trump is sending a message to Iran; its ok to meet with me even if everybody else hates you. I dont think Trump is a bad, war monger, stir the pot with propaganda type of guy, like other war/chicken hawks of the past. I do think he makes allot of misinformed, or pig headed decisions. I dont know, see what comes of it. Its just a new era, the days of relying on treaties seem to be in chaos. Couldnt last forever.

5 ( +9 / -4 )

@Zichi

Praising an enemy while still at war is treason.

Oops. Technical mistake. The US and North Vietnam were never “at war”. Better call in all those Purple Hearts then.

4 ( +8 / -4 )

@Zichi

More than one million people are in North Korea concentration prisons.

Ahhhh! I’m soooo confused! I thought all the concentration camps were on the US southern border! I bet all the guests in Mr. Kim’s camp resorts have toothbrushes.

@Zichi

Praising an enemy while still at war is treason. Same president you criticises sports people who won't stand for the anthem.

No, it isn’t. It can’t be. Otherwise Jane Fonda would have been sent to prison. It’s a real pity Mr. Trump couldn’t have posed behind a North Korean AA gun.

Mr. Trump could solve this whole problem simply by flying a cargo plane stuffed with money to Pyongyang. It has worked for Mr. Obama with the perfectly sane, peace-loving Ayatollah, hasn’t it? (The hidden message from Iran is that they’re actually running out of oil and need to generate power at nuclear power stations.)

2 ( +6 / -4 )

Nothing wrong with this 'impromptu' meeting, thought it was a great idea.

My main grievance with Trump is that he keeps talking himself up always trying to convince ppl how great & decisive he is and that the world was/would be a much worse place before/without him etc. A moment like this sells itself, no need to spruik how great you are ffs.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

By the way,

Putin did not condemn democracy.

In fact, he openly criticized the UK for the fact that its citizens do not choose their own PM.

Maybe, some people weren’t paying attention sufficiently?

4 ( +11 / -7 )

Japan will benefit as will all of the world.

Let's hope!

15 ( +16 / -1 )

Unbelievable scenes and I hope Peace in Our Times!! No one EVER imagined the US President in DMZ.

Trump despite all the haters is a Peacemaker to the region. Japan will benefit as will all of the world. And Chairman Kim is not as terrible as all the liberal media and posters who call him nasty names keep claiming. He is ready for a deal with Trump, and I hope soon, Japan. Just amazing.

15 ( +21 / -6 )

Let's wait and see if there is any actual substance to this meet.

-2 ( +8 / -10 )

Trump is just a showman , a con artist, no different than the con artist US pastors that fly around in jets

Agreed

-1 ( +13 / -14 )

Trump haters, no just people blessed with a little bit of intelligence , that don't rely on the main stream media for their information. North Korea being accused of, without concrete evidence of torture, a million people in concentration camps, kidnappings, Oh!! America in the present day is holding immigrants seeking legal asylum in concentration camps, fact, America leads the world in incarcerations, fact, America loses more lives by gun violence than motor accidents, fact , America has instigated more military interventions in other countries since WWll than any other country, fact, human right abuses are continuing today in the US, fact ,Racism, fact, the list could go on about the US's faults. Trump is just a showman , a con artist, no different than the con artist US pastors that fly around in jets payed for by the people they con, with their fire and brimstone bible rhetoric. So why is so much hate towards North Korea, it has a nuclear arsenal, it has also conducts tests, doesn't anyone remember the South Pacific tests, native people removed from their lands , just so the big boys could blow up their toys, Nuclear arsenals are held by America, UK , France, Russia, Pakistan(a harborer and funder of terrorists) Israeli, Iran could have been added to that list but is in compliance of a multi national agreement, monitored by the Nuclear watchdog commission , of which Trump pulled America pulled out of. No people don't hate Trump , they just see him and the Neocons here has surrounded himself with, for what they are, puppets of the American political system, America should be renamed " The Barnum and Bailey Circus, the greatest show on earth folks.

-6 ( +14 / -20 )

Progress or a cynical photo op for the dear leaders?

Remember, Nixon went to China.

-9 ( +4 / -13 )

I hope this turns out to be more than an ego feeding opportunity to those two egomaniacs.

3 ( +8 / -5 )

Oops. 4am.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

always good to meet in person it's a start bravo

CaptDingleheimerToday  04:17 pm JST

All the liberals are gonna be FURIOUS when they roll out of bed at the crack of noon and see this story...

Noon in CA where so many liberals live is 6am in Japan, so that's pretty early.

BTW, I'm not furious. I think Trump looks just as foolish standing next to Kim at the DMZ as he did standing next to him in Singapore or Vietnam, and just as foolish as he does standing (or sitting) next to anybody (or by himself).

I'm much more furious about almost everything else to do with this corrupt buffoon's administration than a photo op with a dictator.

-9 ( +8 / -17 )

"The US also executes plenty of its citizens too just as North Korea does."

Name the US politician or anyone related to politics that was executed if a meeting didn't go well

0 ( +9 / -9 )

** if he decides he doesn't like how things went

2 ( +3 / -1 )

When the dump crossed the line they should've kept him. He describes everything he does as great but we will see.

Remember if Kim decides how things went, more people will be executed.

-9 ( +9 / -18 )

How can anyone fail to notice that this is an historic meeting and another step in securing peace for all of the Koreas?

Nothing can detract from this, although some will try, but fail very miserably!

10 ( +20 / -10 )

All the liberals are gonna be FURIOUS when they roll out of bed at the crack of noon and see this story...

4 ( +18 / -14 )

This will give the Trump haters something to complain about!

5 ( +18 / -13 )

Just think, the only thing previous presidents had to do was to say, "I love you" to Kim.

Now Kim will dispose of the nuclear weapons and missiles he now has . . . all because he wanted to hear somebody special tell him how much he loved him.

This could be made into a Disney musical in the future.

Forget about N. Korea's nukes, the concentration camps, the kidnappings, etc. ... Good thoughts only, please! Then all of these things will come into being. If Trump just says I love you a few more times, he'll have Kim eating out of his hand. It's almost like living in a fantasy world.

One thing's for sure, when they start taking down the fences and electric wires between North and South Korea, then that's the time to bring all U.S. troops home.

Amazing vitrolic comments from the Trump-haters.

Amazing TRUE vitriolic comments...

At least there's dialogue between the U.S. and North Korean leadersIsn't that what you allwanted?

Really? The Repubs were dead set against dialogue that in 2008/9...why the flip-flop?

https://www.vox.com/2018/3/9/17100880/north-korea-republicans-right-conservatives-obama

Even Carter admits that Trump is doing is something "no previous president has been able to realize."

Very true, no US President has ever been a Russian President's poodle....

-5 ( +16 / -21 )

This is just another publicity stunt for Trump, he doesn't know the difference between DMZ and TMZ.
