The effects of Trump's and his follower's degradation of the institutions that form the bedrock of American democracy are becoming quite dangerous. If Trump and his followers actually cared about the US, they would dial it back.

You know you've gone too far when John Roberts, one of the most conservative SCOTUS Chief Justices in a long, long time, tells you to back off.

Seriously, I think Cadet Bonespurs is going to turn the entire government against him, and go screaming into the night that it's all a witch hunt.

23 ( +28 / -5 )

Roberts...a bwahahaha...conservative. The guy that saved Obama care....a ...... conservative....hahahaha.

There is no fight. Roberts took Trumps comment personally because he has the reputation as the #1 Obama judge.

-30 ( +7 / -37 )

"We do not have Obama judges or Trump judges, Bush judges or Clinton judges,"

A notion near impossible to understand for those who can only see in poles, in good or bad, in Trump = good, anyone Trump says bad = bad. And of course in Trumpland, Obama and Hillary are always bad.

Within Trump's base are those unable, for whatever reason, to see beyond Trump's limited vocabulary and limited reasoning, people who for whatever reason always believe what their snakeoil selling political messiah says.

In defense of Trump's base, the US legal system is extremely complex.

But relying on Trump's opinions solely, never questioning him, blindly believing everything he or one of his far right media talking mouths (e.g. Fox 'news', infowars, RT, Breitbart, etc.) say, is a sign that a cult of personality has formed.

How's that worked out in the past? 1930s?

19 ( +20 / -1 )

So why the huge fight over Gorsuch and Kavanaugh? Liberals should be thankful for them being members of the “independent judiciary” that exists only in Roberts’ mind.

The Chief Justice doesn’t even know or care about the percentage of cases that are overturned and the obvious bias in the decisions made in the 9th Circuit? Someone has some homework to do.

-29 ( +2 / -31 )

Roberts...a bwahahaha...conservative. The guy that saved Obama care....a ...... conservative....hahahaha.

Robert's loyalty is to the constitution, not ignorant people's opinions on what makes a justice conservative.

> There is no fight. Roberts took Trumps comment personally because he has the reputation as the #1 Obama judge.

Yes, a Bush II appointment is an "Obama judge" despite being a justice. Conservative "intelligence" and "logic" on full display.

17 ( +21 / -4 )

So why the huge fight over Gorsuch and Kavanaugh? Liberals should be thankful for them being members of the “independent judiciary” that exists only in Roberts’ mind.

Because the vast majority of cons cannot separate their personal bias from their professional roles.

> The Chief Justice doesn’t even know or care about the percentage of cases that are overturned and the obvious bias in the decisions made in the 9th Circuit? Someone has some homework to do.

I'm certain you personally know the knowledge Roberts has. I'm also certain you know far more about the justice system than the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Where did you go to law school? How long did you practice law before being appointed to the federal bench? How many times have you had legal scholarship published?

But if a Trump appointee sides with Trump interpretation of the law then liberals will still scream “trump judge” right?

Trick question. Liberals expect all Trump appointees to recuse themselves until an Obama judge finally gets assigned the case.

How many times did that Hawaii judge rule against Trump in the travel ban case? 3 times? Then had to be overruled in the SC and here we are again with another “trump can’t control who enters the county” case.

-20 ( +1 / -21 )

Neither can Obama judges either. Thus the term applies and means liberal activist judge trying to govern from the bench instead of interpreting the law as written.

Because the vast majority of cons cannot separate their personal bias from their professional roles.

-16 ( +1 / -17 )

You know you've gone too far when John Roberts, one of the most conservative SCOTUS Chief Justices in a long, long time, tells you to back off.

Roberts is by far not one of the most conservative Judges. My Lord where did you get that one?

https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/is-chief-justice-roberts-a-secret-liberal/

-20 ( +1 / -21 )

I don’t need to be a lawyer to look at the stats showing the frequency with which Obama judges rule against Trump and the frequency with which those rulings get overruled at the Supreme Court.

I also see that all liberal justices vote as a group in opposition to those rulings. Every.single.time. They aren’t even “independent” from each other much less independent thinkers.

Obama called out the Supreme Court in 2010 state of the union for making the “wrong” decision. Did any of them say anything to beloved Obama? Nope

-16 ( +1 / -17 )

And yes Roberts is the least conservative judge on the court (out of the conservative appointees). Voted most likely swing voter of 2019 by liberals. That’s why you are so hopeful that he has swung over to “your side” on even 1 issue ((trump resistance).

-14 ( +1 / -15 )

But if a Trump appointee sides with Trump interpretation of the law then liberals will still scream “trump judge” right?

It depends on whether the judge actually followed legal precedent.

Trick question. Liberals expect all Trump appointees to recuse themselves until an Obama judge finally gets assigned the case.

Nope. Keep flailing around trying to justify your hyper-partisanship by projecting it into others.

How many times did that Hawaii judge rule against Trump in the travel ban case? 3 times? Then had to be overruled in the SC

That's called the legal process at work.

13 ( +14 / -1 )

Neither can Obama judges either. Thus the term applies and means liberal activist judge trying to govern from the bench instead of interpreting the law as written.

Hahahaha! The favorite retort of people without anything substantive to say: I know you are but what am I?

12 ( +13 / -1 )

I don’t need to be a lawyer to look at the stats showing the frequency with which Obama judges rule against Trump and the frequency with which those rulings get overruled at the Supreme Court.

So, you're not a lawyer and have never had scholarly legal papers published. That's about all we need to know.

> I also see that all liberal justices vote as a group in opposition to those rulings. Every.single.time. They aren’t even “independent” from each other much less independent thinkers.

And the conservatives vote as a group in favor of those rulings. Every, Single. Time. They aren't even "independent" of each other, much less independent thinkers.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

Trump can bluster all he wants, he is just like a child who does not know how to play together with others, and cries when he doesnt get his way!

12 ( +14 / -2 )

And yes Roberts is the least conservative judge on the court (out of the conservative appointees). Voted most likely swing voter of 2019 by liberals.

Okay.

> That’s why you are so hopeful that he has swung over to “your side” on even 1 issue ((trump resistance).

You must have the ability to read minds given you think you know what's in my head. You do this quite often, my clairvoyant conservative e cupcake.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

It's clear Trump is following following the instructions given to him by Putin for all Russia's help during the election:

Isolate America by pulling out of treaties and insulting allies...increasing Russia's influence and role in the world...

Denigrate and disparage institutions that protect American democracy - the intelligence communities, the FBI, now the Supreme Court..."Make America Like Russia"...

And this imbecile is going exactly that - he's as great a threat to our republic as Stalin or Hitler.

When will the 25% of Americans that are under his mind control wake up and realize we have a "Murmansk Candidate" in office - someone under the control of a hostile foreign government trying to destroy our country from within.

14 ( +15 / -1 )

A public comment from a Supreme Court Chief Justice on a political issue may not be unprecedented, but in my lifetime, they have been extremely rare.

Perhaps this is because the incompetence and venality of our current POTUS is becoming more dangerous to the country, such a direct and public statement is necessary now more than ever.

Roberts will be around, and Chief Justice, far longer than Trumpism exists. I'm quite pleased that he takes this seriously, because our independent judiciary is a bedrock principle of America's Rule of Law, without which we no longer have the country we believe in.

13 ( +15 / -2 )

Once again someone with more knowledge is educating the great POTUS.

Got to love this! I said it more than once:

Trump should go back to the basics .... like elementary school and complete his unfinished education!

11 ( +13 / -2 )

How many times did that Hawaii judge rule against Trump in the travel ban case? 3 times? Then had to be overruled in the SC

This is why and it makes sense.

https://www.newsweek.com/judges-halt-trump-travel-ban-hawaii-maryland-569020

Roberts will be around, and Chief Justice, far longer than Trumpism exists.

So will Kavanaugh and Gorsuch, let’s hope liberals remember that. Ginsberg doesn’t look so good these days, I see a third coming up.

-17 ( +1 / -18 )

Except when Gorsuch ruled against Trump or last week when the Trump appointee ruled against Trump and for CNN. Liberals love that “independence” yet never give it in return. Just straight liberal activism all day every day.

And the conservatives vote as a group in favor of those rulings. Every, Single. Time. They aren't even "independent" of each other, much less independent thinkers.

-15 ( +1 / -16 )

Trump hates democracy. Nothing new here.

16 ( +18 / -2 )

I wonder what Trump would do if ALL the sns networks and every media outlet would just shut him out for 24 to 48 hours? Would his brain would pop?

12 ( +14 / -2 )

Well Trump fans have a new person to smear now.

13 ( +16 / -3 )

Why can't I do what ever I want mummy but whyyyyyyy!!!!???

10 ( +13 / -3 )

"And I'll tell you what. It's not going to happen like this anymore."

WTF does that mean?

What is he threatening?

8 ( +9 / -1 )

Maybe he is indicating some type of sorely needed accountability for activist judges. The ones who rule on things as a delay tactic or a virtue signal. All while knowing they will be overruled at the Supreme Court in 6 months or a year.

-11 ( +2 / -13 )

Trump showing his ignorance of the American constitution again. The concept of a free and independent judiciary is probably too much for that small mind to comprehend.

He better be careful, he might be up before these judges soon.

But I guess he is counting on Russia to give him asylum. The Trump caravan will definitely be welcomed at the Russian embassy.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Maybe he is indicating some type of sorely needed accountability for activist judges.

Someone wasn’t paying attention in school.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Yubaru asks:

I, for one, would really like to find out.

I, for one, would really like to find out.

Me, for two.

Many people don't understand how lucky we are to have a president who actually cares about America..

Let's not waste this chance to turn our country around, the future of our country and indeed the world depends on this moment in time.

-13 ( +2 / -15 )

Maybe he is indicating some type of sorely needed accountability for activist judges. The ones who rule on things as a delay tactic or a virtue signal. All while knowing they will be overruled at the Supreme Court in 6 months or a year.

This is exactly what my first post was about. A Trump apologist is suggesting the federal judiciary be put under political control. It makes sense that a Trump acolyte wants to see our judicial system be run like the judicial systems in China, Russia, and the DPRK.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Many people don't understand how lucky we are to have a president who actually cares about America..

Let us know when that happens. The current incumbent is a bumbling oaf who cares nothing about the people of America and has a meltdown when he's not getting what he wants.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

I love to see the scared GOP supporters on here Calling the BUSH APPOINTED judge a "liberal" judge. It's much like how they scream about Hollywood as they continue to adore actor Ronald Reagan and bow down to TV reality show star Trump.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Many people don't understand how lucky we are to have a president who actually cares about America..

Stock prices are down. He is no longer a good president to me.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Frankly, Trump's a disgrace.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Trump is doing Gorsuch and Kavanaugh no favors with his rants and tantrums - nor himself. Both will be under scrutiny now that Trump has politicized their appointments. They're both probably doing face-palms.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Roberts...a bwahahaha...conservative. The guy that saved Obama care....a ...... conservative....hahahaha.

yep because Bush wanted another liberal in the courts LOL, of cource he wants Obamacare, giving even the poorest in the US the right to affordable life saving medical care, its about humans rights not about treating only the rich with dignity. Whats next with conservatives!? only the poor should pay taxes the rich should get a free pass, oops hold on!

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Frankly, Trump's a disgrace.

sorry not trying to sound condescending but thanks Cpt Obvious could have told you that before Trump ran for office.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Stock prices are down. He is no longer a good president to me.

nope thats all on Obama, you know because....Obama!?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

In light of all those sealed indictments on the DC docket I'd suggest the president Moron not pee off any more judges.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Y'all can prattle on about Trump tantrums and project your TDS onto us, but fact is that Roberts is simply wrong on this point. Painfully, obliviously, and so maliciously wrong that this couldn't possibly come from ignorance alone. There is no greater predictor of how a judge will rule than the party of the president who appointed him/her. This is not really in dispute by anyone actually paying attention to the 9th circuit, federal appeals courts, or to SCOTUS, particuarly in the past 30 years or so.

Roberts is simply grandstanding and it's rightfully out of character for a position that is purported to be decidedly apolitical. Sources:

--Roberts will be around, and Chief Justice, far longer than Trumpism exists.

So will Kavanaugh and Gorsuch, let’s hope liberals remember that.

I (a liberal) will remember that. I will remember that all branches of government serve at the pleasure of Our Dear Leader. No matter how badly the media harasses Him, I will remember that He alone knows best and cares most about the Motherland and its children, and that someday He will smite all His wretched enemies.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Y'all can prattle on about Trump tantrums and project your TDS onto us, but fact is that Roberts is simply wrong on this point.

Another legal scholar. From which law school did you graduate? How many scholarly legal papers have you had published? To which Bar are you admitted?

Painfully, obliviously, and so maliciously wrong that this couldn't possibly come from ignorance alone.

Quick! Manufacture a conspiracy theory!

There is no greater predictor of how a judge will rule than the party of the president who appointed him/her. This is not really in dispute by anyone actually paying attention to the 9th circuit, federal appeals courts, or to SCOTUS, particuarly in the past 30 years or so.

Which legal journals do you regularly read? Where have you practiced law?

6 ( +7 / -1 )

I’d bet a dollar to a donut that you the classes where they taught government were not your best grades.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

I love to see the scared GOP supporters on here Calling the BUSH APPOINTED judge a "liberal" judge.

I will or at least, Roberts isn’t a conservative of the true sense unlike Gorsuch and Kavanaugh or Thomas.

It's much like how they scream about Hollywood as they continue to adore actor Ronald Reagan

Who was a Democrat until he came to his senses

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Painfully, obliviously, and so maliciously wrong that this couldn't possibly come from ignorance alone.

Welcome back. Ignorance, you say?

Trump got it wrong and Roberts called him out on his whopping great lie.

Odd that some would rather go with the whopping great lie, innit.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Previous... attempts? Sorry i guess i am lacking some crucial context. Do commenters have a tendency to flake out on this board or something? The NYT reporting on this years ago, in case you didn't read it, which is pretty clear:

https://www.nytimes.com/2012/11/27/us/judges-rulings-follow-partisan-lines.html

Spoiler alert: this trend hasn't changed. As the authors point out, if the judges didn't vote on partisan lines, we wouldn't have these confirmation battles in the first place.

My point is that canards like "conspiracy theory!" and "orange man bad!" are lost against actual data from authors like Epstein, Landes and Posner, and studies like that linked above pretty much call Roberts out for the blinded idealist that he is. The guy is not dealing in reality.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

The guy is not dealing in reality.

He's very much dealing in reality. He's called out Trump's BS and is now getting heat for doing so from the base. Trump has gone beyond his usual schtick with this attack.

Ilya Somin, a law professor at George Mason University in Virginia, said Roberts "is sending up a signal that Trump has gone beyond the pale of responsible political discourse."

Personally, if I was in the States I'd be sending up an SOS at this stage, as the endgame is worryingly close.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

How so? Judges are, as the authors claim, basically "politicians in robes." An Obama appointed judge will vote how Obama wants him to, the vast majority of the time. Same goes for Trump judges. He is just playing the game as it has been played, and slowly winning, by making all these appointments. Roberts is an outlier; this doesn't disprove the overall trend.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

An Obama appointed judge will vote how Obama wants him to, the vast majority of the time.

Roberts himself was appointed by a Republican. So why is he going against Trump's nonsensical comments?

Following your logic, he should be towing the party line and agreeing with Trump.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

"The current incumbent is a bumbling oaf who cares nothing about the people of America "

That was the previous president, Toasted.

Based on intel from many of our European allies as well and even with the support for it to funded by the Democrats

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

Nishikat, Roberts was appointed by Bush. My point was not so much about his politics but his idealism about what the judiciary is. I agree with him on what it should be, but we have different ideas about how it's currently used.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Toasted, easy: Roberts is a never-Trumper, and now, admittedly so. They are all over the legislature too. I did point out that he is an outlier in some of his rulings. This doesn't buck the overally trend though. Judges side with the appointing party politics at least 66% of the time.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Nishikat, Roberts was appointed by Bush

No way! Wow, Trump hates everybody. Mexicans, Judges, Mexican Judges (Trump U.) Maybe it was some secret conspiracy by President Hillary to scam Bush to put a secret Liberal (Roberts) in the Supreme court. Let's see what Hannity says.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Lol. Roberts strikes me more as a minimalist: rulings as narrowly defined as possible, which tend to fall on either side of the knife's edge now and then (though he had nothing on Kennedy in that regard).

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Roberts strikes me more as a minimalist: rulings as narrowly defined as possible

Obamacare?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Ha, got me there! And no doubt fueling Trump's ire here.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

It's a trap. Obamacare was started by the Republicans. It's just renamed. Example of Trump's revenge politics that just makes things worse for people instead of helping.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Well then! Are things worse for the formerly unemployed? The North Koreans? Small business owners? Entrepreneurs who actually create all the jobs? Genuinely curious, not trolling here. There is a tendency to ascribe progress and backslide in these areas to Obama and Trump, respectively.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Based on intel from many of our European allies as well and even with the support for it to funded by the Democrats,

oh please it was funded by the American tax payer, when your fed WMD lies and take the POTUS word for it the of course you going to get support, later on we find out that it was just that a lie, wonder if Bush could have got the support or funds from congress to wage those wars.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

One the latest outbursts on twitter is to deny global warming, on the basis that there has been some cold weather in the USA (yes - in November). A man who cannot understand the difference between weather and climate should not be listened to on anything, especially on matters to do with the legal system.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Many people don't understand how lucky we are to have a president who actually cares about America..

Let's not waste this chance to turn our country around, the future of our country and indeed the world depends on this moment in time.

This comment shows just exactly how clueless you really are. Just because you "think" this is the right path for the future of this country, doesn't mean it actually is. I see a repeat of what's been going on for the past few decades, but this is worse as he's intentionally attempting to destroy the very foundations of this county. The reality of how negative an impact Trump's actions have been are already in motion, you're just not realizing it until it starts backfiring on your life/livelihood specifically.

I've learned one thing about people that think like you. It's all good as long as it's not harming your life, but you'll suddenly start caring when it finally does. Direct example is the Vietnam draft.. the well to do were happy to send others off to fight, until a law was passed that made sure their own were sent to that war too. Then it suddenly became a "bad" war.

And you think Trump cares about America? That is utterly delusional if anyone thinks Trump puts anything (even this country) before himself...

The lesson will be hard, but maybe this time you'll learn from it?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

" he's intentionally attempting to destroy the very foundations of this county ( country ). The reality of how negative an impact Trump's actions have been are already in motion"

This comment shows just exactly how clueless you really are. is the economy better or worse since Trump took office? is the threat of war with N Korea greater or lesser? is ISIS stronger or weaker?

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Roberts is morphing into Justice Souter. No one one either the Left or Right believe that judges are independent and adhere to the letter of the law. Roberts is attempting to hold out the pretense of judicial independence but how often do any of the Leftist judges vote with the other side on politically charged issues that come before the court? Virtually never. Roberts saved Obamacare with a decision that saved the laws funding mechanism by holding that it was at the same time a tax and also not a tax.

Judges in modern America rely little on America’s founding principles. They lean on previously established precedents that rely upon judicial theories foreign to the foundational meaning within the Constitution.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Its nice to see Trump fans turn on the military and the Supreme Court. Add in the media and Congress and that should pretty much cover everything.

They feel more comfortable trusting a known scammer and proven liar. He likes them and fights for them. Except for employees and wives...he likes the foreigners for that.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

is the economy better or worse since Trump took office?

Ask your children and grandchildren when they are the ones who have to pay for this economy. He sold out the children for popularity.

is the threat of war with N Korea greater or lesser?

Greater. The US position with NK is worse now than when Trump took office.

is ISIS stronger or weaker?

Trump was fortunate enough to be able to take over the job Obama had nearly finished.

Your boy is weak. You people lack the mental capacity to see through his lies.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

No one one either the Left or Right believe that judges are independent and adhere to the letter of the law.

No hyper-partisan believes that because hyper-partisans lack the intelligence to comprehend that others could see the world in a non-extremist manner. So they say things like the above quote and think that they know what they are talking about.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

oh please it was funded by the American tax payer,

I lot of things or unnecessary things are funded by the tax payer.

when your fed WMD lies and take the POTUS word

Based on faulty intelligence from “numerous” sources internationally and domestically.

for it the of course you going to get support, later on we find out that it was just that a lie, wonder if Bush could have got the support or funds from congress to wage those wars.

Dunno, many senior Dems on the intel commity felt the info was sound as well, so.....

This is a very true and interesting point.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Trump can say whatever he wants, but this case has ended in DEFEAT for him.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

I lot of things or unnecessary things are funded by the tax payer.

so it doesnt make it right especially since 100s thousands Iraqis died from a war started on a lie.

Based on faulty intelligence from “numerous” sources internationally and domestically.

all happened on a Republican watch, moral of the story dont rush to war unless your sure the reasons are justified

Dunno, many senior Dems on the intel commity felt the info was sound as well, so.....

so final decision to go to war was Bushs decision, seems 9/11 emotions voided any sensible decision making.

"your either with us or with the terrorists" seems like Sadaam was just a crazy dictator and not the WMD terrorist many fell for.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

This comment shows just exactly how clueless you really are. is the economy better or worse since Trump took office? is the threat of war with N Korea greater or lesser? is ISIS stronger or weaker?

The economy is getting worse. Below a certain secure income level there is a lack of financial security/stability. I'm in that group and the effects are felt there first. It's already started. You'll be feeling it in a bit yourself eventually no matter how financial stable you think you are. Keep believing in the falsehood, it's all you can cling to.

N.Korea hasn't gotten better or worse, they've always been playing the same game. Attention for concessions. Trump stopped war games with S.Korea, N.Korea currently is suspected of continuing to develop missile launch sites...

ISIS has isn't much weaker than it was before, just destabilized even before Trump started his stint in office. You're constantly trying to contribute other peoples hard work to make you feel good about the idiot. 2nd Thanksgiving in a row where Trump's narcissism has shown through. Everything "good" he attributes to himself, and everything "bad" is blamed on others.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

@Strangerland, it won't just affect they're children and grandchildren. But it will also affect their QoL in retirement. I'm working with people who are too scared of retiring because they can't afford to live anywhere decent in the US unless they move out into the boonies where cost of living is so dirt cheap, you can die quicker due to lack of effective services.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I hope and pray that our democracy is able to survive Trump's assault upon it.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

is the economy better or worse since Trump took office?

economy was on fire under Bush then it wasnt,

is the threat of war with N Korea greater or lesser?

lesser now but that could change overnight, especially if Trump continues to ignore Kim

is ISIS stronger or weaker?

ISIS didnt exist until the wars Bush started created the conditions for them to thrive

2 ( +2 / -0 )

I know facts mean nothing to conservatives, but have a dose anyway:

an average of 74 percent of all court rulings reviewed by the Supreme Court were overturned last year. He said the rate is generally high because the top court usually chooses to hear cases with rulings it’s more likely to overturn.

Among the nation’s 13 appellate courts, the 9th Circuit ranked third in terms of percentage of Supreme Court reversals from 2010 to 2015, according to an analysis by PolitiFact, based on statistics from Supreme Court records.

The 6th Circuit Court (which serves Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee) had an 87 percent reversal rate from 2010 to 2015. The 11th Circuit (serving Alabama, Florida and Georgia) had an 85 percent reversal rate in that period. The 3rd Circuit (Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and the Virgin Islands) had a 78 percent rate — 1 percentage point behind the 9th Circuit’s record.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I suspect that the judicial branch will survive all of Trump's huffing and puffing and reckless attempts to blow the house down. The institutions of government have stood for over 200 years, and despite the attacks they have suffered since St. Reagan declared government to be the problem - which the GOP then spent 40 years attempting to prove - they have endured. 2020 should bring a return to normalcy. The GOP has exhausted the patience and goodwill of the majority of the people, and will soon be left roaming the political wilderness of the red states.

Bone Spurs isn't interested in whether a judge leans left or right; he only cares whether or not the judge will be loyal to him, personally.

I disagreed with Trump when he sent that CNN reporter walking. Even though I disagree with CNN, too. But I believe in the system of checks and balances, and Trump seems to not understand the importance of that system. But when there are things like this: "Trump on Tuesday took aim at U.S. District Judge Jon Tigar in San Francisco, who on Monday temporarily blocked an order by the president that barred asylum for immigrants who enter the country illegally from Mexico. Tigar was appointed by Democratic former President Barack Obama.

This was an Obama judge," Trump said. "And I'll tell you what. It's not going to happen like this anymore."

I have supportive sentiments towards Trump after digesting this. I just don't understand the difficulty with understanding that people need to go through a customs line with a passport to enter any country. What is so hard about that? Please tell me.

I hope Trump continues his attacks on Roberts and the supreme court, all the more likely that no one there will ever side with any of these "conservative" cases that Trump wants passed. For such a "bigly genius" trump has the art of being stupid.

Trump doesn't like actual law and order... probably because they can find something that he's guilty of and can be put away for a very, very, very long time. Oh that's right, he's trying to undermine everything about our US judicial system he can.
