Trump said, “I don't take responsibility at all"

The lack of leadership at the top continues. Not a surprise, but still alarming.

Trump said, “I don't take responsibility at all"

Probably one of the few rare times in his presidency that he didn't lie.

‘It will go away’: A timeline of Trump playing down the coronavirus threat

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2020/03/12/trump-coronavirus-timeline/

Jan. 22: “We have it totally under control.”

Jan. 24: “It will all work out well.”

Jan. 29: “Just received a briefing on the Coronavirus in China from all of our GREAT agencies, who are also working closely with China. We will continue to monitor the ongoing developments. We have the best experts anywhere in the world, and they are on top of it 24/7!”

Jan. 30: “We think we have it very well under control. We have very little problem in this country at this moment — five. And those people are all recuperating successfully. But we’re working very closely with China and other countries, and we think it’s going to have a very good ending for it. So that I can assure you.”

Feb. 2: “Well, we pretty much shut it down coming in from China. … We can’t have thousands of people coming in who may have this problem, the coronavirus. So we’re gonna see what happens, but we did shut it down, yes.”

Feb. 7: “Nothing is easy, but [Chinese President Xi Jinping] … will be successful, especially as the weather starts to warm & the virus hopefully becomes weaker, and then gone.”

Feb. 10: “I think the virus is going to be — it’s going to be fine.”

Feb. 14: “We have a very small number of people in the country, right now, with it. It’s like around 12. Many of them are getting better. Some are fully recovered already. So we’re in very good shape.”

Feb. 19: “I think it’s going to work out fine. I think when we get into April, in the warmer weather, that has a very negative effect on that and that type of a virus. So let’s see what happens, but I think it’s going to work out fine.”

Feb. 24: “The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA. … Stock Market starting to look very good to me!”

Feb. 25: “You may ask about the coronavirus, which is very well under control in our country. We have very few people with it, and the people that have it are … getting better. They’re all getting better. … As far as what we’re doing with the new virus, I think that we’re doing a great job.”

Feb. 25: “CDC and my Administration are doing a GREAT job of handling Coronavirus, including the very early closing of our borders to certain areas of the world.”

Feb. 26: “Because of all we’ve done, the risk to the American people remains very low. … When you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero. That’s a pretty good job we’ve done."

Feb. 26:

Q: This is spreading — or is going to spread, maybe, within communities. That’s the expectation.

A: It may. It may.

Q: Does that worry you?

A: No. ... No, because we’re ready for it. It is what it is. We’re ready for it. We’re really prepared. ... We hope it doesn’t spread. There’s a chance that it won’t spread too, and there’s a chance that it will, and then it’s a question of at what level.

Feb. 27: “Only a very small number in U.S., & China numbers look to be going down. All countries working well together!”

Feb. 28: “I think it’s really going well. We did something very fortunate: we closed up to certain areas of the world very, very early — far earlier than we were supposed to. I took a lot of heat for doing it. It turned out to be the right move, and we only have 15 people and they are getting better, and hopefully they’re all better. There’s one who is quite sick, but maybe he’s gonna be fine. … We’re prepared for the worst, but we think we’re going to be very fortunate."

Feb. 28: “It’s going to disappear. One day, it’s like a miracle, it will disappear.”

Feb. 29: “We’re the number-one travel destination anywhere in the world, yet we have far fewer cases of the disease than even countries with much less travel or a much smaller population.”

March 4: “Some people will have this at a very light level and won’t even go to a doctor or hospital, and they’ll get better. There are many people like that.”

March 5: “With approximately 100,000 CoronaVirus cases worldwide, and 3,280 deaths, the United States, because of quick action on closing our borders, has, as of now, only 129 cases (40 Americans brought in) and 11 deaths.”

March 6: “We did an interview on Fox last night, a town hall. I think it was very good. And I said, ‘Calm. You have to be calm. It’ll go away.' ”

March 7: “It came out of China, and we heard about it. And made a good move: We closed it down; we stopped it. Otherwise — the head of CDC said last night that you would have thousands of more problems if we didn’t shut it down very early. That was a very early shutdown, which is something we got right."

March 8: Retweets a story about Surgeon General Jerome Adams playing down the risk of coronavirus for Trump personally.

March 9: “The Fake News Media and their partner, the Democrat Party, is doing everything within its semi-considerable power (it used to be greater!) to inflame the CoronaVirus situation, far beyond what the facts would warrant. Surgeon General, ‘The risk is low to the average American.’ ”

March 9: “So last year 37,000 Americans died from the common Flu. It averages between 27,000 and 70,000 per year. Nothing is shut down, life & the economy go on. At this moment there are 546 confirmed cases of CoronaVirus, with 22 deaths. Think about that!”

March 10: “As you know, it’s about 600 cases, it’s about 26 deaths, within our country. And had we not acted quickly, that number would have been substantially more.

March 10: “And it hit the world. And we’re prepared, and we’re doing a great job with it. And it will go away. Just stay calm. It will go away.”

March 11: “I think we’re going to get through it very well.”

March 12: “It’s going to go away. ... The United States, because of what I did and what the administration did with China, we have 32 deaths at this point … when you look at the kind of numbers that you’re seeing coming out of other countries, it’s pretty amazing when you think of it.”

@basf4t can’t put their selfish childish tantrums aside and work with this President

Can you provide an example of Democrats not working with Trump on the COVID19 issue. If the response is a deflection, something oblique, a change of topic, something media/libs/dems/socialism I'll take that as a no.

11 ( +14 / -3 )

Lack? Nonsense, the WH has been doing everything they can,

Yes, everything they can to pretend this thing will just go away on its own and to placate the President’s ego.

Stuff to actually prepare for the epidemic everyone has known for weeks was coming? No, they haven’t shown any concern until the past week about that, and now it is too late.

the man has done a pretty good job.

You have exceptionally forgiving standards. The guy’s incompetence and negligence are directly to blame for how seriously unprepared the US is and the thousands of American lives that are about to be lost. You seriously think him burying his head in the sand for weeks about the reality of this was a “good job” given the sh#t-storm that is about to hit?

What’s really alarming is that the Democrats in their hatred for this President can’t put their selfish childish tantrums aside and work with this President on something as serious as this, the hatred and fighting can wait, there’s always a time and a place for everything, the hatred and politicization can wait.

No, the country and world facing a crisis of this magnitude with an imbecilic, dishonest reality TV show host in charge is what is alarming. The presidency is an actual job and we are now seeing the consequences of having a person wholly incapable of doing it occupying the position.

11 ( +14 / -3 )

@bass

The relevant part of your link:

Multiple Democrats, including Bloomberg and Biden, have criticized Trump for getting rid of a pandemic response position on the National Security Council. The position was eliminated, although John Bolton, then-national security adviser, was the person directly responsible.

I said the Trump administration cut the position. Bolton was part of that administration. Trump is in charge of that administration. Am I correct?

You’d think a president would know what’s going on in his NSC.

Trump is unqualified for the job.

11 ( +12 / -1 )

Late. The US is far behind and playing catch up because Trump and his fellow Republicans care more about their own wealth and that of their fellow 'elite' than they do about health care, especially health care for the general population. Unfit for office.

Donny refused to take any responsibility for cutting his global health security team, a team which could have reacted faster to this crisis.

When questioned he called the reporter ‘Nasty’

And we expect ‘ the buck stops everywhere ‘ to lead our country to safety !!!!!!

Remember how we told you he was incompetent, and that's why not to elect him? Remember when we told you that if there was a real crisis, he'd fail, because he's an unqualified buffoon? Remember how he gutted the funding to the CDC, and got rid of the pandemic team at Homeland security? Remember when he gave the job of dealing with the pandemic to a guy who thinks prayer is an effective means of dealing with these issues.

Perhaps Trump's total failure will remind our American friends that being President is an real job that needs a competetent person to do it. And that ideology-driven destruction of your nation's organization infrastructure is not such a good idea after all.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Many American medical experts believe Trump was too slow reacting to the outbreak of the virus.

Except Dr. Mike Pence, who thanks dear leader Donny at the start of every press briefing.

I just don't trust the guy, and it's his own fault.

7 ( +11 / -4 )

Trump just declared a state of national emergency. Does this mean he has a plan to combat the virus? Of course not. The only plan he ever had since stealing the office was to cling to power and bilk us taxpayers and put that money into his pockets. And since he doesn't want to lose in November because that would mean the great state of New York would put him in jail he has a plan for that too. Stay in office by any means necessary.

No one is pretending, those are the liberal nutjobs on TV that keep telling to focus on the Presidents personal comments

How outrageous of them to report the president’s words.

So, how exactly are we to understand the president’s position if we can’t listen to what he actually says?

I disagree. If you haven’t been listening to Dr. Fauci and the people at the CDC and the follow ups as to what precautions you should take, then it’s on you, that’s your personal responsibility, this is why as a conservative I hate and distrust the government. Liberals depend on it, bad move.

So in the same sentence you tell me you hate and distrust government you tell me I should be listening to Dr. Fauci, a government official?

I don’t dispute that Dr. Fauci is trustworthy and doing a good job, but have a lot of trouble following your logic.

Focus less on the President and more on Dr. Fauci, that’s the best advice I could give. Saves you guys a lot of anger and grief.

So you agree that we should listen to the medical expert and not the imbecilic, dishonest reality TV star? Definitely agree, but I also can't help but wonder if it might be a good idea to have someone whose words you could trust as president too.

Hmmm...not what the markets were thinking, they were bouncing back feeling more confident that this President is more focused on this and that’s a good thing, we all need that as a nation. I trust him and good on him.

Oh the markets that have been bouncing all over the place and lost more than 20% of their value?

I mean, your arguments are totally incomprehensible. You tell me you trust this guy in the same post in which you say we shouldn’t listen to what he says because of how unreliable it is? Make up your mind, which is it?

7 ( +8 / -1 )

@mrnoidal even floated the 25th amendment to remove him from office.

Floated? Do you mean they considered using what the Constitution permits? Thought crime? re the US Constitution: revise the part mentioning the separation and balance of powers and see if you think Trump's attacks on them are appropriate. Revise the portion of the Constitution ensuring free speech. Of course you'll find the president is protected, but why would he want to have his government sue media that have opinions - free speech - different from his.

Makes sense to me.

Which means it doesn't make any sense!

Irrelevant and illogical argument! Coronavirus wasn't around two years ago!

Which shows why you and the president were both wrong!

7 ( +8 / -1 )

It's hard to think of how Trump could have handled this situation more incompetently. He lost 3-4 weeks due to pretending it was a non-issue, cause he wanted to 'keep his numbers down'. Then he called it a democratic hoax, and even now it's clear he's flying by the seat of his pants, and literally is clueless as to how to effectively deal with this situation.

And now US citizens are paying for that with their lives and their livelihoods.

Trump; Most incompetent president in a nation-wide situation, ever.

listen to the experts.

Two years ago the Trump administration got rid of the global health security expert on the NSC and cut the pandemic response team that person was leading. When asked about it the other day, Trump said he didn’t know anything about it. The reporter asking about this was insulted by Trump before having her mic cut off.

Trump failing to get tested after being exposed to others who have it is the height of irresponsibility - typical Donnie...

He's putting everyone he is in contact with at risk - including Pence and other members of his cabinet. So what happens if all of these have to self quarantine? Well, maybe that would be an improvement.

And what about his family - does he mind if Barron is infected?

We know why he won't get tested - he couldn't stand the self-quarantine - his insecure, pathetic ego needs constant attention and adulation.

Hey Donnie, get tested, then quarantine yourself in the WH basement with that new high-tech golf VR machine taxpayers bought for you and a box of Stormy Daniels tapes...

Just put Dr Fauci in charge for the next 60 days...

6 ( +6 / -0 )

I think he’s doing the best that he can.

I think he is too. Which proves that he is incompetent, as he's doing a horrendous job of it.

Entirely pathetic presidenting.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Essentially the derision trump attracts is of his own making.

It's his own befuddled, muddled statements that people are jumping on.

He said them, He should own them.

But No.

This not actually about left vs right. The virus doesn't discriminate. It's about listening to the medical /health experts and taking decisive actions regardless if those actions go against what you have a "hunch" about.

Displaying coherent leadership is the least people can ask. If you don't and need to be corrected by your own time and time again then in this fast & furious media world you'll get crunched. And the more you openly put down intelligent people by calling them nasty or losers or whatever just will add to the fire you youself have laid, set and lit.

Stands to reason.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

It is time to support the govt, support the president, the leader of the nation to fight the global epidemic. The haters never loved the nation. That is the truth..

One of the many things about times of emergency like this that worries is they bring out those claiming what the world, needs now, is a stronger, state. Those who want government to have even greater control over individuals and their rights frighten me more than this virus. Of course individuals need to heed advice from the medical experts. Of course we have to take responsibilities for our actions. I'll support those in the medical fields, those from the start who've said we're dealing with a crisis. But never those politicians who said 'it's just a flu/cold'. 'Loved the nation'? Truth? Wow. My family, yes. A nation? I paid serious prices for 'my nation'. That cared jack crap about me.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

@bas4fOk, stop with the liberal typical talking points as to regarding his personal beliefs, it’s irrelevant, listen to the experts.

Mighty authoritarian. Typical of the global anti-democracy, pro-authoritarianism faction who want opinions different from theirs stopped. While refusing to acknowledge that the opinions of their blowhard-in-chief, which they parroted, which were different from the medical experts scientific facts, were what contributed to the mess.

"...As I wrote about in my post above, we can only shake our heads when we compare the media hysteria over the coronavirus during Trump's watch, with the soft treatment the H1N1 virus got while Obama was in the chair..."

The current crisis bears no relation to the h1n1 outbreak. Referencing such is merely a distraction, a deflection to the unfolding calamity here and now.

What Obama or the media did years ago - or perceived to have done - is irrelevant.

Covid-19 is the immediate in-your-face-crisis, and sadly trump has shown a lack of leadership.

This is not just a beat up by lefty media, as a significant number of republicans, including evangelical christians have called him out over his blurts, mistakes, untruths and a lack of a simple show of understanding.

Easy to blame the media when it's trump himself.

What world leader in such a dire situation would dare to publicly utter " No I don't take responsibility at all"?

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Trump waited, hopefully ignoring the ramifications of the virus, he could spin everything positively for himself, but could not, so he declared a national emergency. His narcissism and self congratulatory attitudes are only for those who want to be mentally manipulated. He can't take any responsibility, par for his lack of integrity and grace, but we've seen this all before from this buffoon.

@bas4f they’re not eye to eye on everything that’s in the deal as to what and how fully combat this virus.

In other words you can't say how the D's aren't working with the impeached president. Disagreements are the norm in a democracy. The US is still a democracy. Trump's shown he's the one who hasn't had clue one. He downplayed the severity of this virus too long, ignored the medical experts. While telling his followers he was an expert.

Other posters have wondered whether Trump will continue this state of emergency up to election time, then declare they can't be held.

Now Trump is seriously facing the reality. The Trump administration is doing their best to expand the testing capacity, even including the drive-through test adopted in S. Korea. In contrast, Japanese still question the usefulness of the rapid and aggressive testing. Even they do not realize that they are brainwashed by disinformation disseminated by the Japanese media such as the accuracy of PCR is low, the fatality rate does not decrease with the number of tests (this is true, but the number of death decreases with decreasing number of infection under the same fatality rate), and etc.

Nothing to do with the article.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

@bas4f Is that bad to say his opinion?

Good question. Probably no. He's so inarticulate that whatever he says is difficult to clearly understand and is easily misinterpreted. And because he's lied so many times, few will believe whatever he says. Of course he's got the right to express his opinion, but at times like this, a time of emergency, the last thing the country needs is hearing from him. Unfortunately. Trump needs to put down his tweet-er and focus on his golf. He's done far too much damage; time for a long time out. And because all he cares about is making money, by staying at his properties he can continue to bilk the taxpayers.

@zichi

You can have endless numbers of ventilators, but they are useless unless you have the suitably trained staffed to care for the patients using them. There is a global shortage of ITU nurses.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Very sad, but the epidemic of Stupidity created the pandemic of Coronavirus... Why the moronic governments did not put all the countries on lockdown right away?... Why countries needed to import corona virus and kill so many inocent people?... Was very simple to just fully close all the borders temporarily to prevent the spread... Why we are so naive to elect such stupid useless governments? Trump must also declare his and his supporters incompetence and stupidity as national emergency...

Pestilence, war, famine, and death. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse have once again been unleashed. We should rightly be terrified.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

@reckless countries like Italy and France are like 3rd world compared to Japan. The outbreak have crashed their medical&health system hence the dreadful mortality rate.

Oh and don't mention the USA, where a nationwide Medicare system pretty much doesn't exist. I have a hunch things are only starting to get nasty as many poor people won't get help.

Hope I'm wrong

1 ( +5 / -4 )

@Callboy that makes sense because Japan has performed 21,000 test so far whereas Korea has done 210,000. Since 80% of infected does not show symptoms and you can get a test in Japan without symptoms the numbers bares fruit.

Now the scary part is that people are most infectious during the first 10 days of getting coronavirus.

@bas4f main and only objective is to get Trump out of office, nothing more

That's one perspective. Others might say the media have a much broader role and as usual are reporting on a range of issues from a wide array of perspectives. But then it's probably pretty hard for partisan extremists, especially those who want the state to control media and for the media to be more like what China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, North Korea and Iran have, to see that.

Trump declares virus pandemic a national emergency

Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Trump's usual tactics of lying, invective, and brutal ignorance will not serve him well here. Two weeks is all it took between him telling the public that it was going away to being at very real risk of having contracted it himself.

Well, I do think he should be tested at the very least.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Why does Japan have so few cases compared to Italy and the US?

Probably because they’re not cracking down on people’s movements and whereabouts. People are allowed to move, travel, congregate anywhere in public so we really don’t know how many people have the disease because there are no mandatory rules on getting screened. I’m sure there are a lot of people that are infected, walking around that we don’t know of.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

Now Trump is seriously facing the reality. The Trump administration is doing their best to expand the testing capacity, even including the drive-through test adopted in S. Korea. In contrast, Japanese still question the usefulness of the rapid and aggressive testing. Even they do not realize that they are brainwashed by disinformation disseminated by the Japanese media such as the accuracy of PCR is low, the fatality rate does not decrease with the number of tests (this is true, but the number of death decreases with decreasing number of infection under the same fatality rate), and etc.

Well said Jenni. Spot on. He has done well.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

oldman_13

said "that took long enough huh?"

I'll take 43 days to declare a National Emergency, as Trump did in the case of COVID-19, over the 225 days it took the previous President to declare the same National Emergency when H1N1 broke out in 2009-2010.

Incidentally, 12,469 Americans died due to the H1N1 flu and 60.8 million were infected. Compare those numbers to what we have seen so far with COVID-19 and it becomes crystal clear that the media is doing everything they can to criticize Trump when he has done the best he can.

Feb. 2: “Well, we pretty much shut it down coming in from China. … We can’t have thousands of people coming in who may have this problem, the coronavirus. So we’re gonna see what happens, but we did shut it down, yes.”

This was done at the same time elected Democrats, and the CNN-types were loudly claiming that it was racist to prevent Chinese from entering the U.S.A.. Looks like Trump was right, and the Democrats, and CNN-types, were wrong. Again. Of course, politics-as-usual demands that Democrats, and CNN-types, continue to blame anything, and everything, on the President who beat Hillary.

Feb. 2“Well, we pretty much shut it down coming in from China. … We can’t have thousands of people coming in who may have this problem, the coronavirus. So we’re gonna see what happens, but we did shut it down, yes.”

Of course, politics-as-usual demands that Democrats, and CNN-types, continue to blame anything, and everything, on the President who beat Hillary.

Paul, I could not agree more and it's so nice to actually see a voice of reason amid all the anti-Trump hysteria and hyperventilating out there, especially that which "graces" this website's comments section every day.

As I wrote about in my post above, we can only shake our heads when we compare the media hysteria over the coronavirus during Trump's watch, with the soft treatment the H1N1 virus got while Obama was in the chair.

And the H1N1 killed thousands of Americans, including 1,000 in one month alone before Obama got around to finally declaring a state of emergency.

But, of course, it wasn't an election year that year, and the media's Golden Boy was in office.

The anti-Trump force's politicization of this coronavirus situation was entirely predictable. But that doesn't make it any less disgusting.

These people don't give a damn about the coronavirus or about anyone who gets sick from it. All they see in it is an opportunity to unseat Trump. Makes me nauseous.

But within a few months, we won't even be talking about the coronavirus anymore. And Trump will be re-elected in November.

He should be, because he has performed well over the past three years and he deserves to keep his job.

-6 ( +3 / -9 )

Back in October 2009, the H1N1 killed 1,000 people in the United States -- including almost 100 children -- before President Obama later declared a national emergency for the virus.

At the time, the media hysteria was not as high as it is today.

That was 1,000 Americans in ONE MONTH. The coronavirus has killed 41 people TOTAL as of this writing.

The media's double-standard treatment of the H1N1 under Obama, and the coronavirus under Trump, is unbelievable.

Actually, it's not unbelievable. It's entirely predictable. It's entirely predictable that the Trump-hating media would blow this up in a way that it certainly did not with the H1N1 while their Golden Boy was in office.

Could Trump have handled this better at the beginning? Of course, but the same is true for every other country and world leader.

And his country, with over 320 million people, has had 41 deaths -- a great number of them in one state, Washington, and a pretty good percentage of them in one nursing home.

It's a good thing that under Trump, America has had tighter borders and a solid economy for the past three years. Otherwise, this coronavirus situation would be a LOT worse.

Stay the course, Mr. President, and make proper course corrections as more is learned about this virus.

And while this will no doubt be disappointing to many of your political opponents, Mr. President, your country WILL defeat this thing. And in time, everything will be back to normal.

Under the circumstances, you're doing a fine job.

-7 ( +3 / -10 )

I have to say to politicize this crisis and place blame on Trump or any world leader is total nonsense. Show me a country right now dealing with this fully adaptable every changing virus that has not made an error in judgement or misteps.

The world was not ready to deal with this virus. Blaming Trump for this virus outbreak or any world leader is just stupid.

FACTS and what we know.

The source of the corona-virus is believed to be a "wet market" in Wuhan which sold both dead and live animals including fish and birds.

Such markets pose a heightened risk of viruses jumping from animals to humans because hygiene standards are difficult to maintain if live animals are being kept and butchered on site. Typically, they are also densely packed.

The animal source of the latest outbreak has not yet been identified, but the original host is thought to be bats. Bats were not sold at the Wuhan market but may have infected live chickens or other animals sold there.

Bats are host to a wide range of zoonotic viruses including Ebola, HIV and rabies influ.

Looking to place blame? Then blame the human race.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

Trump must be ignored on serious issues like health emergencies. His role is to troll, entertain and grandstand.

Just like with the Democrats, laugh at them, but that’s just about it.

Listen to the experts.

I agree.

if thats the best he can down play a health crisis that makes him look bad and theactual virus proving him wrong, shite America is doomed

If we could survive Carter and Obama, we will all be fine in the US, now a socialist.....that’s an iffy one....

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

non party: It is time to support the govt, support the president, the leader of the nation to fight the global epidemic. The haters never loved the nation. That is the truth.

Those on the Left who have wanted to fundamentally change America believe this way for a reason. To believe so intently on changing the very essence of America belies a deep seated hatred for all that America is.

Trump stands in the way of the Lefts plans to un-make the American Constitution. If he is re-elected there could realistically be two more conservative Supreme Court justices in place of Leftist justices. That would prevent them from legislating away individual rights to implement socialist programs that create more problems than they solve. They will use whatever means necessary to prevent that from happening.

Using a global health crisis to their political advantage is not beneath them. They have already enlisted foreign interference by paying for the Russian dossier with the help of a foreign ex-spy. They have lied to attempt to impeach him and have even floated the 25th amendment to remove him from office.

-8 ( +5 / -13 )

Japan's numbers are so low because they refuse to test for the Olympics.

South Korea is the perfect example for Japan of what they should be doing!

On that I completely agree with you. As to why Japan is not taking this. Ore seriously is baffling given the elderly population in this country.

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

Oh yes, by all means lets just sit back and watch them continue to drive the country off a cliff.

Well, the only thing you can do is criticize, not that anyone in Washington is listening, so.....

It would be so rude to do otherwise. Everybody got that? If you can’t say anything nice about Trump’s incompetence, don’t say anything at all.

You can, no one is stopping you, but it’s the same for us, we criticize the left, but in reality, neither side cares about us complaining.

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

Trump’s words are not front and center.

No, because if Trump told every Democrat should jump off a cliff would they? Seriously?

Even as much as a adored Bush, when he said, “Mission accomplishment” I wasn’t quite convinced from my observation, but that’s what he felt, ok....

All of the news outlets I’ve seen have focused on the medical facts.

I agree, Fauci has been great in keeping the public up to date.

Which means it doesn't make any sense!

Yahoo, Buzzfeed? No, they don’t. When Tower Records or MTV gets in the news business then I know we have hit the abyss and it’s truly over.

Irrelevant and illogical argument! Coronavirus wasn't around two years ago!

Which shows why you and the president were both wrong!

I have nothing to do with this unlike liberals that know everything since they were anointed the gift of wisdom, so as to why they panic is beyond me because they usually always have the answer.

-9 ( +2 / -11 )

JT went on CNN and msnbc? They have WH correspondents? That’s news to me.

When did Yahoo appear on a TV show? what does Yahoo look like I have never seen them!

https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/yahoo-news/

Do you mean like FoxNews? Your one stop source!

They’re the second biggest in network after CNN but first in overall ratings.

Even The Nation is better than Yahoo, and Buzzfeed.

If we can't trust what Trump says on the virus, like bass4funk said, and we should only trust the experts but then how can we trust Trump on anything he states.

So we should listen to the Dems....Pelosi and Schumer? Maybe Biden? Does he even know what’s going on?

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

I agree.

-9 ( +2 / -11 )

The Corona Virus or Covid-19 could become annual so the people who get it and recover will have the antibodies to fight another future outbreak.

Allegedly, but we don’t know that as of now, we really don’t know anything, these are all just potential possibilities nothing more.

https://www.yahoo.com/huffpost/trump-coronavirus-national-emergency-193454120.html

*When asked about his demolition of President Barack Obama’s pandemic response team, Trump called it *“a nasty question.”

What an idiot and incompetent fool!

Huffpost....well, a bit better, just a tad....

-10 ( +2 / -12 )

In other words you can't say how the D's aren't working with the impeached president.

Impeached? You mean, “acquitted.” Impeachment’s over, where have you been? Anyway, I just outlined what they haven’t been doing. There were provisions in the Dems bill that had nothing to do with this virus, that is the main reason why the President and the GOP weren’t going to sign the bill. Also, the Dems need to make a statement to cease all Political fighting until this thing is over with. They haven’t done that yet.

Disagreements are the norm in a democracy. The US is still a democracy.

Yes, but this is not about democracy or disagreements, the Dems need to work with this President during this serious crisis, that’s it. Everything else can wait.

Trump's shown he's the one who hasn't had clue one. He downplayed the severity of this virus too long, ignored the medical experts. While telling his followers he was an expert.

Ok, stop with the liberal typical talking points as to regarding his personal beliefs, it’s irrelevant, listen to the experts.

-11 ( +3 / -14 )

Not surprised at all!

Trump reportedly rejected aggressive coronavirus testing in hopes it would help his re-election

https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-reportedly-rejected-aggressive-coronavirus-121835790.html

Yahoo?? Oh, boy...you couldn’t find a TMZ or a Buzzfeed article? Lol

I said the Trump administration cut the position. Bolton was part of that administration. Trump is in charge of that administration. Am I correct?

Yes.

You’d think a president would know what’s going on in his NSC.

Trump is unqualified for the job.

Then that means, given what happened in Libya and the lack of knowledge the President had at the time, he was highly unqualified to be the President.

-11 ( +2 / -13 )

Since you claim to have so much experience in the writing business, you know Yahoo is an aggregate website like JT.

But Yahoo claims to be a legitimate news source like Buzzfeed. Uhhh....

You have no credible logical response.

I just did.

All of your insults apply to JT too!

No, because they didn’t go around claiming to be a geopolitical news source appearing on tv shows

-11 ( +2 / -13 )

Incidentally, 12,469 Americans died due to the H1N1 flu and 60.8 million were infected. Compare those numbers to what we have seen so far with COVID-19 and it becomes crystal clear that the media is doing everything they can to criticize Trump when he has done the best he can

Precisely, but the liberal msm will do everything possible to make sure you don’t focus on that because their main and only objective is to get Trump out of office, nothing more.

-11 ( +1 / -12 )

Saying Trump's doing the 'best he can', and as you say we shouldn't listen to his words, you're pretty much saying we're in even worse trouble.

No, because he’s not the expert, Fauci is, but liberals are supposed to know this with their so called alleged superior intellect. lol

Trump's so far out of his element.

Obama was As well when the SARS outbreak happened.

Time for him to hunker down in one of his properties and have his tweet-er taken away.

I want the liberals especially Pelosi and Schumer to do the same.

-11 ( +0 / -11 )

Which democrats? Do you mean ‘congressman’ Joe Biden?

Most of them, including the front runner who thinks he’s still in Congress.

-11 ( +0 / -11 )

Yes, everything they can to pretend this thing will just go away on its own and to placate the President’s ego.

No one is pretending, those are the liberal nutjobs on TV that keep telling to focus on the Presidents personal comments. If you do and not the experts then that’s on you.

Stuff to actually prepare for the epidemic everyone has known for weeks was coming? No, they haven’t shown any concern until the past week about that, and now it is too late.

His medical team has, those are the people you should always listen to. The Chinese said, the virus originated probably and came from the States, that’s their personal opinion, who cares what they’re government says, we all know the facts of the origins of this virus.

You have exceptionally forgiving standards. The guy’s incompetence and negligence are directly to blame for how seriously unprepared the US is and the thousands of American lives that are about to be lost.

I disagree. If you haven’t been listening to Dr. Fauci and the people at the CDC and the follow ups as to what precautions you should take, then it’s on you, that’s your personal responsibility, this is why as a conservative I hate and distrust the government. Liberals depend on it, bad move.

No, the country and world facing a crisis of this magnitude with an imbecilic, dishonest reality TV show host in charge is what is alarming.

What? Liberals hatred of this man is more important than to listen to the experts on how to properly care for yourself during this crisis, this is why they’re lost. Focus less on the President and more on Dr. Fauci, that’s the best advice I could give. Saves you guys a lot of anger and grief.

The presidency is an actual job and we are now seeing the consequences of having a person wholly incapable of doing it occupying the position.

Hmmm...not what the markets were thinking, they were bouncing back feeling more confident that this President is more focused on this and that’s a good thing, we all need that as a nation. I trust him and good on him.

-12 ( +3 / -15 )

Mighty authoritarian.

How? People are not under a lockdown. We are not China, a one party State.

Typical of the global anti-democracy, pro-authoritarianism faction who want opinions different from theirs stopped.

Seems like that’s what the left want from this President to shut him up, talk about anti-democratic....

While refusing to acknowledge that the opinions of their blowhard-in-chief, which they parroted, which were different from the medical experts scientific facts, were what contributed to the mess.

People are fools if they believe any politician when it comes to “medical advice”, I learned that in the 6th grade.

-12 ( +2 / -14 )

Still, Trump said officials don't want people taking the test unless they have certain symptoms. "We don't want people without symptoms to go and do that test," Trump said, adding, “It's totally unnecessary."”

Is that bad to say his opinion?

Does that mean Trump will get to take a test without having symptoms but “ordinary” folks won’t? How can that be right? He should just self-isolate with food deliveries and his smartphone for Twittering.

I hope the Dems can do the same, they should self isolate.

-12 ( +0 / -12 )

Those who want government to have even greater control over individuals and their rights frighten me more than this virus.

Then you never, ever want to vote for a socialist!

Of course individuals need to heed advice from the medical experts. Of course we have to take responsibilities for our actions. I'll support those in the medical fields,

As do I and most sane people.

-13 ( +3 / -16 )

How outrageous of them to report the president’s words.

No, it’s not, but to make that front and center and the front page when this virus should be once again shows their true political agenda. They know this President and they know he’s says things all the time and they dismiss most of it, but now they take him seriously? Give me a break!

So in the same sentence you tell me you hate and distrust government you tell me I should be listening to Dr. Fauci, a government official?

He’s a doctor first and foremost, remember that.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_S._Fauci

I don’t dispute that Dr. Fauci is trustworthy and doing a good job, but have a lot of trouble following your logic.

Just focus on Dr. Fauci, that’s more important.

Oh the markets that have been bouncing all over the place and lost more than 20% of their value?

And that can quickly recover, that’s the real beauty. That they even rebounded after the Presidents speech is very reassuring.

I mean, your arguments are totally incomprehensible.

No, they’re fine, you just need to focus on the experts and just relax when it comes to Trump speaking.

-13 ( +1 / -14 )

Two years ago the Trump administration got rid of the global health security expert on the NSC and cut the pandemic response team that person was leading.

https://www.factcheck.org/2020/03/democrats-misleading-coronavirus-claims/

Makes sense to me.

-16 ( +1 / -17 )

Japan has fallen out of the top 10. Well done, Based on the above numbers, Japan's is doing a great job.

Hmmm...not really buying that and it seems suspicious to me.

-16 ( +1 / -17 )

https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2020/mar/10/nancy-pelosi-uses-coronavirus-crisis-push-liberal-/

This is more liberal typical deception as to what they really want, it’s always in the end about them.

-17 ( +1 / -18 )

Can you provide an example of Democrats not working with Trump on the COVID19 issue.

Yes, by checking the daily negative comments and attacks from Pelosi, Schumer, AOC and them not agreeing to certain things, they’re not eye to eye on everything that’s in the deal as to what and how fully combat this virus.

If the response is a deflection, something oblique, a change of topic, something media/libs/dems/socialism I'll take that as a no

You are right and that’s exactly what these people do. Mr. President just sign this blank check we’ll put in whatever we want, sure....lol

-18 ( +3 / -21 )

The lack of leadership at the top continues.

Lack? Nonsense, the WH has been doing everything they can, have they made some mistakes surrounding this virus along the way? Sure, but overall and given the circumstances surrounding this new pandemic, the man has done a pretty good job. It’s not easy and you don’t want to cause a panic when you just don’t know the full details of something that is fluid and changing.

Not a surprise, but still alarming

What’s really alarming is that the Democrats in their hatred for this President can’t put their selfish childish tantrums aside and work with this President on something as serious as this, the hatred and fighting can wait, there’s always a time and a place for everything, the hatred and politicization can wait.
