To those Manafort friends who wrote that he was generous with his money, I say he was generous with my money since his generosity was with funds were those made available through failure to pay taxes and which belonged to the US treasury (you and me).

The very best part of this is that if Trump pardons him, the State of New York has 476 charges ready to go in State Courts.

47 months? That's it?

15 years seems more appropriate.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Lock him up!

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Delightful news. The house of cards is collapsing.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Moral of the story: Crime pays.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

If he was a black man, illegally searched and found to be carrying 10 grams of cannabis he would have got way more time.

47 months, probably only serve half and no doubt be in one of those "non-violent" prisons which are more like clubs.  This is rich white mans justice.

Very clear. So will liberals remove his name and indictment counts from the “but Russia!” Spreadsheet.

Ellis also noted during the hearing that Manafort "is not before the court for any allegations that he, or anyone at his direction, colluded with the Russian government to influence the 2016 election."

He's still facing sentencing from the Virginia DA of up to five years, which Trump will be powerless over. Hope remains for justice.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Yep gotta make sure he “dies in jail” ’because he worked for Trump for a few months.

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

Well he will die in jail because of the crimes he committed. I'm sorry if you find that upsetting, but that's how justice works.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Very clear. So will liberals remove his name and indictment counts from the “but Russia!” Spreadsheet.

He was not before Judge Ellis’ court on those accusations. It is very clear, but you do need to read the entire sentence, I’m afraid.

Speaking of entire sentence, I look forward to Manafort’s next court appearance.

Trump and his cohorts remind me of Leona Helmsey's remark: "We don't pay taxes; only the little people pay taxes."

3 ( +3 / -0 )

"attempt to vilify Mr. Manafort as a lifelong and irredeemable felon is beyond the pale and grossly overstates the facts before this court."

Ellis had faced criticism by some in the legal community for comments he made during the trial that were widely interpreted as biased against the prosecution.

Ellis repeatedly interrupted prosecutors, told them to stop using the word "oligarch" to describe people associated with Manafort because it made him seem "despicable,"

Manafort's track record speaks for itself. What's so biased or 'beyond the pale' if it's all true? He sold his soul and committed his career to doing dirty evil corrupt acts and he must pay. 47 months is not nearly enough.

Manafort sentenced to 47 months in prison

Well he will die in jail because of the crimes he committed. I'm sorry if you find that upsetting, but that's how justice works.

So he will die within 4 years, eh, Super?

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

47 months, because of time served and his physical condition, I would surprised if Manafort stays in prison over 13 months. Even the Judge thought The recommendation for Mueller to be locked up for 15-20 years was way overly excessive.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Trump, who has called Mueller's investigation a politically motivated "witch hunt," has not ruled out granting a presidential pardon to Manafort, saying in November that "I wouldn’t take it off the table."

Just do it Donnie - pardon your former Campaign Manager and full-time swamp creature for all the world to see...

Show Americans you don't care if people hide millions of dollars and don't pay their taxes, borrow money from oligarchs, and hobnob with Russian intel agents...

Let everyone see that GOP really stands for Guardians of Putin...

Even the Judge thought The recommendation for Mueller to be locked up for 15-20 years was way overly excessive.

*The special counsel did not recommend a specific sentence for Manafort**, but as a ballpark, he said he agreed with the probation department’s proposed guidelines for a sentence of at least 19 and a half years.*

Accuracy is a foreign idea to some.

So he will die within 4 years, eh, Super?

The sentencing of Manafort hasn't concluded, eh, Sarreno?

*Of the half-dozen former Trump associates prosecuted by Mr. Mueller, Mr. Manafort garnered the harshest punishment yet in the case that came to a conclusion on Thursday — the first of two for which Mr. Manafort is being sentenced this month. While prosecutors sought no specific sentence, some legal experts said a prison term that amounts to one-fifth of the lightest punishment recommended had to disappoint them.*

Accuracy . . .

Just do it Donnie - pardon your former Campaign Manager and full-time swamp creature for all the world to see...

As if he cares who is concerned. Lol

Doesnt matter how or what people think, he can pardon anyone.

Show Americans you don't care if people hide millions of dollars and don't pay their taxes, borrow money from oligarchs, and hobnob with Russian intel agents...

Funny, so far not a single person is indicted on colluding with the Russians....quick...think of another plan....porn Star didn’t work, calling him racist didn’t work, demonizing him, did that as well....hey, let’s go after his finances and see what he did 30 years ago. Yeah, Dems keep chasing them rabbits.

Ok, but he won’t go past 13 months in his current condition.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

Ok, but he won’t go past 13 months in his current condition.

I wasn't debating Manafort's potential sentencing, I was pointing out chronic inaccuracies.

I agree - he doesn't care a thing about re-election in 2020...just a bit of branding - why don't his supporters see this....

Doesnt matter how or what people think, he can pardon anyone.

Absolutely - but people will think before they pull the ballot lever...

Yeah, Dems keep chasing them rabbits. ROFL!

Very well stated - Donnie is in fact a rabbit - just ask any of his wives, porn stars, or Playboy Bunnies...

Let everyone see that GOP really stands for Guardians of Putin...

So that makes the Democrats the protectors of Iran

No, it just means if Donnie pardons all those swamp creatures who met with Russians and lied about it, that speaks loudly about who pulls his strings....from Moscow....

I agree - he doesn't care a thing about re-election in 2020...just a bit of branding - why don't his supporters see this....

Wait until the primaries and the public gets to peer into the lives of these candidates, especially Harris...branding....makes sense

Absolutely - but people will think before they pull the ballot lever...

Ohhh, yes they will indeed.

Very well stated - Donnie is in fact a rabbit - just ask any of his wives, porn stars, or Playboy Bunnies...

And the Dems keep missing...

No, it just means if Donnie pardons all those swamp creatures who met with Russians and lied about it, that speaks loudly about who pulls his strings....from Moscow...

Cool

Im sure the other judge will ensure to give him a long sentence added on to the end of this one.

Then somehow she was also “randomly selected” for Stone’s trial too. So he goes to jail until trial starts same like Manafort did to soften him up.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

Well, so much for the 80 years the libs claimed would destroy him forever. He will probably get a year and be out just in time to start campaigning for Trumps second term.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

For the 8 felonies he was convicted of - the sentencing guideline was 18 and a half - to 24 years.  A sentence of just 47 months is sick.  My guess is that the judge took a bribe.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Everyone needs to calm down about the 4 year Manafort sentence. All he did was conspire with a hostile power to undermine American democracy. It’s not like he’s a minority teen caught with a joint.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

No, it just means if Donnie pardons all those swamp creatures who met with Russians and lied about it, that speaks loudly about who pulls his strings....from Moscow...

Cool

Another one for the record;

Agrees Trump is a draft dodger and a coward...

Agrees with Ann Coulter that Trump's an idiot, lazy, incompetent and a wimp...

Now agrees Trump is being controlled by Moscow...

We're making progress converting Trumpers on this site....

Ellis also noted during the hearing that Manafort "is not before the court for any allegations that he, or anyone at his direction, colluded with the Russian government to influence the 2016 election."

He also noted that Manafort's case had nothing to do with Trump. What I wanna know is when Mueller is actually gonna find something to charge Trump with. This is taking entirely too long...

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

CNN huge letter headline:

“A rare reprieve for TRUMP.”

ummm nothing about Trump. The judge even went out of his way to state that. Yet still.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

He's a criminal just like any other and he should go to jail just like the others. Just because he's a buddy of Trump and his former campaign manager doesn't mean he's no longer a convicted felon.

You guys have strange heros.

The Fix is in Mr. President......

... and he will be joined by Trump plus several others.

mukashi - You're going to be sorely disappointed.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Wonder how long AOC will get? 2...7 years?

Agrees Trump is a draft dodger and a coward...

No big deal, we have two Presidents that have done this.

Agrees with Ann Coulter that Trump's an idiot, lazy, incompetent and a wimp...

...and also agrees with her views on Democrats...useless.

Now agrees Trump is being controlled by Moscow...

We're making progress converting Trumpers on this site....

How? No one except Nager and Spliff is going with that theory which is fading faster than cotton candy.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Don’t worry, he should go, I think so, but this was really overkill. But there is No way he will serve the full 47 months, guaranteed.

You guys have strange heros

Says the person who supports the party that thinks Robert Byrd is a mentor.

Where are all the "tough on crime" Republicans?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

My guess is that the judge took a bribe.

That is not how it usually works in the US. It's not transactional; it's institutionalized.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Where are all the "tough on crime" Republicans?

Where's the collusion?

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Where's the collusion?

A separate issue to the missing tough on crime conservatives. Let's keep things relevant, shall we?

Less than 4 yrs for

five counts of tax fraud, two counts of bank fraud and one count of failing to disclose foreign bank accounts.

Slap on the wrist.

OTOH, looks like good news for Meng/Huawei - she can do 4 yrs easy.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

This light sentence is a disgrace, and it is an attack on the country, in every sense. Right, Trump supporters?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Mueller wanted to give Manafort 24 years which is over twice what the average murderer spends in prison.

Manafort would almost certainly not be going to jail if he hadn't briefly been Trump's campaign manager.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Mueller wanted to give Manafort 24 years which is over twice what the average murderer spends in prison.

Odd that Mueller wanted something he didn't recommend.
