Why are Trump and his supporters so weak on security? They are hampering the FBI's ability to prevent terrorism:

*The shutdown's impact was being felt at the Federal Bureau of Investigations with the FBI Agents Association saying investigations involving possible financial crimes, drugs and terrorism were being hindered by a lack of funds.*

Throw in all the TSA workers quitting an not showing up, our borders are wide open because Trump and his supporters don't want an effective immigration policy.

Why are you guys for open borders? You have been since at least 2013 when House republicans refused to vote on two immigration reform bills that had bipartisan support in the Senate.

The shutdown's impact was being felt at the Federal Bureau of Investigations with the FBI Agents Association saying investigations involving possible financial crimes, drugs and terrorism were being hindered by a lack of funds.

With the Trump syndicate long alleged to have been involved in money laundering, Individual 1 will probably do anything he can to keep the shutdown going.

The shutdown limits law enforcement agencies abilities to look into Don-Jeb and family's alleged global financial crimes.

Hold fast, Mr President. The people appreciate you standing up to bad actors who care more about power than our security.

-14 ( +3 / -17 )

If Trump wants to hold 800,000 people hostage, then the House should be closed to him. It's simple.

6 ( +9 / -3 )

Hold fast, Mr President. The people appreciate you standing up to bad actors who care more about power than our security.

This is demonstrably false.

Trump cares more about power power than security or he would actually negotiate instead of making offers that lack substance. (The Dreamers aren't affected until SCOTUS says so.)

10 ( +11 / -1 )

@cla68 The people appreciate you

By 'the people', are you referring to the MINORITY of US citizens who continue to support Trump, the MINORITY of US voters who elected Individual 1?

Russians and other ultrarightists and ultranationalists around the globe may 'appreciate' what Trump's doing to undermine US democracy, but the majority of Americans don't.

Americans are pointing the finger at President Trump more than congressional Democrats as a partial government shutdown heads into its second week.

In a new The Hill-HarrisX poll released Monday, only 22 percent of registered voters surveyed blamed Democrats for the shutdown, while 42 percent said President Trump was to blame. One-third of voters said that both parties in Congress and the president were all equally responsible. https://thehill.com/hilltv/what-americas-thinking/423513-democrats-facing-little-blame-from-public-over-partial

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Let the man talk .....

.... he won't surprise any of us with any news!

Same ol' blablabla!

3 ( +4 / -1 )

If Trump wants to hold 800,000 people hostage, then the House should be closed to him. It's simple.

Come on, he’s the president and if Nancy wants to play hardball, then he can go somewhere else, it doesn’t matter she can’t stop him from holding the State of the Union address. Democrats need to come down, starting to look very weak with a temper tantrum and more inept at governing. This is also very simple, all the Democrats need to do is just fund the wall and the president will do his part to accommodate the Democrats and then we can put all of this behind us. Simple.

-15 ( +1 / -16 )

@bas4 This is also very simple, all the Democrats need to do is just fund the wall and the president will do his part to accommodate the Democrats and then we can put all of this behind us. Simple.

Once again pushing for executive-uber alles.

To prevent concentration of power, the U.S. Constitution divides the central government into three branches and creates a system of checks and balances.https://www.varsitytutors.com/earlyamerica/early-america-review/volume-13/constitution-separates-power

US ultrarightists, a minority, continue to try to undermine US democratic systems. They're backed by ultrarightists around the globe who want to see the US ruled like Putin rules Russia, a state so far right it's fully implemented the most recent version of the bundle of wooden rods beliefs.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Once again pushing for executive-uber alles.

Yeah, I Don’t want him to do an Obama....

US ultrarightists, a minority, continue to try to undermine US democratic systems.

Yes, a tiny minority, compared to a larger majority of Liberal socialists that want to overtake the country and undermine our capitalist system and undermine our constitution.

They're backed by ultrarightists around the globe who want to see the US ruled like Putin rules Russia,

What? Oh...ROFL!

a state so far right it's fully implemented the most recent version of the bundle of wooden rodsbeliefs.

We could say the opposite that the Marxist socialists liberals are more aligned with similar Russian ideology wanting to strip and chisel the last bits of democracy we have left.

-14 ( +0 / -14 )

So Donny boy gets smacked again, and again and again and his lack of even a basic understanding of negotiation skills is there for all to see.

The worrying part is that the main purpose of Donny' shut down was to make this country safe, though all signs show that safety is at its lowest right now.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

@bass

Here is a quote, from you, before Trump was elected.

bass4funkSep. 21, 2015  04:25 pm JST

Trump is just the GOP version of Obama, pure and simple. Hard on the BS, without any substance to back anything up, both love their inflated egos as well. With Obama we have socialism, with Trump it would be socialism-lite.

So what's your real agenda, just citing everything you read on FOX and eating whatever your fed without even asking what it is?

Yes, a tiny minority, compared to a larger majority of Liberal socialists that want to overtake the country and undermine our capitalist system and undermine our constitution.

If the democrats wanted to undermine the constitution, they would do what Trump is doing and start chiseling away at it.

Wasn't there the far right wingers making "I'd rather be a Russian than a Democrat" tshirts. The NRA hanging out with Russians while dumping cash into Trump's campaign. Dealings with Russian click-bait troll companies to influence voters. Secret talks with Putin (I'm sure you must believe they were just having tea and talking about their golf score). A Moscow tower project, unfinished but whose to say that Trump's business can't and won't continue when he's out of office and in the graces of Putin. "Marxist socialist liberals", do you even know what you are talking about? I thought Bernie had somewhat vaguely socialist views but nothing even close to "chiseling away at our democracy".

12 ( +13 / -1 )

Once again pushing for executive-uber alles.

@bas4 Yeah, I Don’t want him to do an Obama....

What? ROFL

US ultrarightists, a minority, continue to try to undermine US democratic systems

@bas4 Yes, a tiny minority, compared to a larger majority of Liberal socialists that want to overtake the country and undermine our capitalist system and undermine our constitution.

If you accept the larger majority want something, then in a democratic system the majority should prevail.

But many Trump-followers have freely admitted they want to undermine US democratic systems by granting the executive extraordinary powers, by weakening the judiciary, by limiting the rights of a free, for-profit press, by disallowing the intelligence agencies from questioning his and his family's alleged criminal activities and collusion with foreign states.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

This is also very simple, all the Democrats need to do is just fund the wall and the president will do his part to accommodate the Democrats and then we can put all of this behind us. Simple.

Simple would have been the Republicans who held the White House and Congress for two years to fund it - they didn't...therefore, as Trump has stated, he and they own it...The Trump Shutdown or "Donnie's Dilemma"...

If the Trumpsters want to be entertained by Donnie's lounge act SOU, go ahead.

But to pains me to see what once was a dignified and statesmen-like ceremony turned in to a cheap, reality-TV show spectacle.

Trump's SOU can be summed up in one line:  "I'm taking the country right down into the dumpster"...which by the way rhymes with Trumpster...

4 ( +5 / -1 )

The State of the Union address should be held as scheduled. An invitation was sent and accepted while the government was shut down already. Just politics. Make Pelosi sit right behind Trump for 1.5 hrs as he talks.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

It’s simply not right for Dems to continue to push the narratives of all these supposedly dangerous thing happening while doing nothing.

maybe the person closest to me should help someone who gets injured. But I dont just get to stand there and do nothing when they don’t. I have the ability to take action to resolve the danger as well, so I’m also responsible.

dems can reopen the government too.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Remember when Rep Louie "Call me Gomer" Gohmert yelled out "You lie" at President Obama's SOU a few years ago...

With Trump's SOU, every utterance would deserve to be called a lie...

But I wouldn't suggest Democrats do that - let Republicans wallow in their own gutter...

2 ( +3 / -1 )

@wolfpack

dems can reopen the government too.

The problem with you're argument is you only bash the Democrats. Republicans are just as responsible then, if you want to play those cards. A stalemate, neither party is taking action. Trump can compromise too, if he wants too. But he doesn't.

So is it OK for Trump to push his racially motivated narrative that immigrants are rapist/terrorists and not do anything too? What you are asking for isn't really democracy, rather just for one party to fold and give it all up to the other.

Also, an invitation was not sent as Pelosi was asked to do so Monday but declined...Unless that's breaking news I haven't seen it. The White House is still planning for Trump to give the SOTU next week though. If government is re-opened, I imagine it will be done before the senate. Otherwise, probably from the oval office.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

The position of an American President is supposed to represent America and all Americans, Trump doesn't fall into either catergory , Trump only represents Trump, president in name only , and he only has the backing of lesss than a third of all Americans. Trump doesn't care about the partial government shutdown or those 800000 plus workers or their families, Trump is avoid of any empathy. There is a quick solution to get the government open and up and running without Trump and either parties. What does Trump thrive on most, TV and media coverage , just to inflate his enormous ego. All it needs is the unions representing those government workers to get the unions representing those TV and media camera crews to back their members and withdraw all TV and media coverage to Trump and all government politicians. Trump without TV and media is nothing. So if Trumps want to do his state of the union speech , he can Twitter it.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

What can you say? We have a U.S. president who's more concerned about seeing himself on TV than helping nearly a million federal employees he's thrown under the bus because of his childish mental fit.

Make America What Again?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Pelosi has made clear that, under present circumstances, Trump is not welcome in the House chamber. McConnell is able to invite him to the Senate chamber but has been typically invisible. Trump doesn't want to give an address from the White House as the absence of adoration exposes how small he is. My guess is he'll call a rally.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Trump: You didn't seriously think I won't do it, did you?

Nancy is horrified about POTUS listing the long list of his achievements since being POTUS. She wants to silence him.

Why are Trump and his supporters so weak on security?

Har! Why are the Dems so weak on security?

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

@serrano

Why would Trump list his achievements. The SOTU is about the "state of the union", it doesn't stand for "trump's achievements". Sounds like you want a good ol' red hat rally to give yourself a chance to shout "build the wall" with someone other than yourself instead of the having Trump give the SOTU address...

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Things that are still true today:

Trump went on national TV and claimed ownership for the shutdown.

He refuses to let the workers get paid because it's his leverage to extract concessions.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Why would Trump list his achievements. The SOTU is about the "state of the union", it doesn't stand for "trump's achievements".

Trump fan bois don't care about the country. They've demonstrated that time and again by unjustifiably attacking the institutions that underpin our democracy.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

He did compromise. It was rejected with no consideration. Don’t tell me he didn’t-because liberals mocked us as we yelled at him for doing it.

Trump can compromise too, if he wants too. But he doesn't.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

@chipstar

I know, but I'm curious what actually goes on in serrano's head. He thinks the SOTU is a bragging speech and his rebuttle to "Why are Trump and his supporters so weak on security?" was "Har! Why are the Dems so weak on security?". It sounds like he/she knows they are wrong but luv Trump so they gotta at least try to defend him.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

He did compromise.

Trump offered nothing that isn't already happening and nothing permanent, so no, he didn't compromise.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Since when does a compromise have to be permanent? Try again.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

@Dead Trump's achievements have a lot to do with the state of the union. Sounds like you, like Nancy, want to silence him.

Can't wait to see Nancy's facial expressions while she stands behind him giving the State of the Union Address. That should be more fun than a barrel of monkeys.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Obama mentioned himself over 140 times in his last State of the Union speech. If it’s not a bragging speech, how did that happen? I’m sure he wasn’t disparaging himself.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

He did compromise. It was rejected with no consideration. Don’t tell me he didn’t-because liberals mocked us as we yelled at him for doing it.

What? 3 year extension on DACA instead of 2 years? Hardly a compromise. And then he tries to get the dreamer program thrown out so he can start deporting every single undocumented immigrant out immediately after. Real nice guy huh? Basically just trying to con again, and this time supreme court stopped him.

Democrats have attempted multiple negotiations which Trump has given no consideration to the minute 5.7 billion isn't on it.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Since when does a compromise have to be permanent? Try again

Try reading my post again.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Obama mentioned himself over 140 times in his last State of the Union speech. If it’s not a bragging speech, how did that happen? I’m sure he wasn’t disparaging himself.

And I'm sure you disparaged him for doing so, yet you want to hear this from Trump. Can you say, "hypocrisy"?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

And then he tries to get the dreamer program thrown out so he can start deporting every single undocumented immigrant out immediately after.

They're in the U.S. illegally. What part of that don't you understand?

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

@serrano

@Dead Trump's achievements have a lot to do with the state of the union. Sounds like you, like Nancy, want to silence him.

Why would I need to silence that? It's no news to me. Doesn't have to do much with the big elephant in the room either.

@blacklabel

Is your only rebuttal an Obama reference? I'm surprised you counted, and remembered how many times he referenced himself in a speech over 2 years ago. Wasn't giving Obama appraisal in the first place, so why would you use that as your argument?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

They're in the U.S. illegally. What part of that don't you understand?

Since you're changing the topic from compromise to legal status, I'll follow suit.

So Trump supports undocumented immigrants. I thought you guys said he wanted to be tough on undocumented immigrants.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Wasn't giving Obama appraisal in the first place, so why would you use that as your argument?

When conservatives lack anything of substance with which to retort, they pivot to a but Obama or but Hillary.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

@serrano

I do understand that, and there needs to be a system for getting them out or registered to stay. Seems silly to think they can be flushed out in an instant. I'm sure you are greatly affected by their presence, which is why you feel so much hatred towards them as well huh?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

And then he tries to get the dreamer program thrown out so he can start deporting every single undocumented immigrant out immediately after.

They're in the U.S. illegally. What part of that don't you understand?

What part?  The part that they were brought here as 1 or 2 year olds, speak fluent English and maybe no Spanish, attended schools and probably graduated with honors, maybe attended college and graduated cum  laude, and you want to pack them up and send theme back to a country they have no memory of...

That's the part I don't get...

But then do you want to do that?  Trump is for a three year waiver and protections for Dreamers.  Coulter says that's amnesty - something "Jeb" would propose.

So what's the judgment of the Trumpsters here - who is right - Trump or Coulter?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Chip: So Trump supports undocumented immigrants

Dead: What? 3 year extension on DACA instead of 2 years? Hardly a compromise.

Why don't you two sort out this discrepancy?

And how come Nancy, Chuck and the Dems were for a wall before Trump became POTUS?

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

If you accept the larger majority want something, then in a democratic system the majority should prevail.

That is just nonsense because if you go by that, then you could have California over running every other state in the country, now how is that democracy? Give it up, the electoral college is here to stay, we don’t want a one party system, I know you guys love socialism but....

We could say the same thing, how is it possible that two wing bats like Sanders and AOC can get nominated and put into the Senate? It’s just stark raving mad. This country wasn’t built on socialism, that is what’s undermining and destroying Democracy, if liberals like it so much, Cuba is right next door.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

When you say something "instead of" something else, thats a compromise yes.

3 year extension on DACA instead of 2 years? Hardly a compromise.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

@serrano

Dems supported a fence that’s already been built and came with more real border security which has worked. The specs and projected costs are completely different. I don’t think they ever supported trumps wall. That’s a pretty lame argument. It’s like saying someone who supports a 5 dollar coffee shop that already exists but not a 70 dollar coffee shop that is getting built on John does lawn is a hypocrite. They both do the same thing, but ones a big waste of money and an even bigger tax on the neighborhoods image, the people in it, and how people begin to think. Please don’t use these empty arguments anymore. You could do better than that I’m sure.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

The part that they were brought here as 1 or 2 year olds, speak fluent English and maybe no Spanish, attended schools and probably graduated with honors, maybe attended college and graduated cum laude

How much did that cost taxpayers? Hint: A bundle.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

People above were saying a State of the Union isnt a bragging speech. Trying to disparage Trump for a speech he hasnt even given yet. Telling me what he is "going to do" again.

I simply provided evidence that it actually is a bragging speech. As proven by the last President referencing himself 140 times. Trump only mentioned himself 29 times as a comparison.

so....there you have why it is relevant what Obama did in his SOTU speech (the topic of this article)

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Dems supported a fence that’s already been built and came with more real border security which has worked

If that's worked then how come we still have a bunch of people still entering illegally across the border?

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

Yes, god forbid Trump acts like an adult and learns how to govern.

Obama did what? Yeah, in a weak hearted capitalist fashion, you’re right.

Well, that remains to be seen, as cowardly and backstabbing weak the Democrats are, she might take a step back, in the meantime, if not, Trump can always go somewhere else or to the Senate chambers. Glad that the President is holding the line, no matter what it takes, no matter what. If people don’t like it, seek a job in the private sector. More money and freedom anyway.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

No, no they were for a "fence" or a "barrier", not an immoral and racist WALL. Those walls are just terrible, shouldnt be allowed in polite society.

But now Chuck and Nancy arent even for a fence or barrier either. Just because Trump wants it.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

@blacklabel

yes, that’s what a compromise would be. So you admit that dems have tried to make compromises as well.

So what’s your point? Trumps way or the highway? He’s just trying to appeal to the dems by adding stuff they haven’t asked for, that’s why I don’t see it as a compromise. It’s trump throwing a bone on an issue that doesn’t matter. A real compromise on the wall would be something like, 2 or 3 billion with increased border control units/technology. Trumps compromise has nothing to do with the wall.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

@serrano

So you think a wall would prevent 100% all immigrants from entering. You must not understand how the world works...we have had a huge decrease in immigration and it continues to go down. Due to border control.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

@blacklabel

trump doesn’t want a fence, it’s already there. If he wanted that we’d not be having this conversation.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Loving it - Trumps the President and Nancy's learning the hard way, cant wait for the speech.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

The part that they were brought here as 1 or 2 year olds, speak fluent English and maybe no Spanish, attended schools and probably graduated with honors, maybe attended college and graduated cum laude

How much did that cost taxpayers? Hint: A bundle.

Proof?

Their parents were likely employed (you know, like at Mar-A-Lago) working and paying taxes, which they could not claim.

And why not let them stay and contribute to the economy, their community, and pay it back?

Why don't Trumpsters just admit it - you don't like these folks and want them to leave because they are likely more successful than you - or you just don't like folks with brown skin.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

The part that they were brought here as 1 or 2 year olds, speak fluent English and maybe no Spanish, attended schools and probably graduated with honors, maybe attended college and graduated cum laude

How much did that cost taxpayers? Hint: A bundle.

Sending them 'back' to a place they do not know is not only unfair and cruel to the Dreamers themselves, it is a blatant and wanton waste of US taxpayer money. Reap the proper return on the taxpayers' investment by allowing them, nay, welcoming them, into the US workforce where they can make good for themselves and pay back through their own taxes what has been spent on them, and then some.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

No, no they were for a "fence" or a "barrier", not an immoral and racist WALL. Those walls are just terrible, shouldnt be allowed in polite society.

Especially if they can be dug under or flown over....

But now Chuck and Nancy arent even for a fence or barrier either. Just because Trump wants it.

Comprehensive border security - it's on the table...but Coulter, I mean Ingram, I mean Limbaugh, I mean Trump won't accept it...

Donnie's Dilemma...

And how come the Trumpsters here won't answer my question below?  Brain lock?

But then do you want to do that? Trump is for a three year waiver and protections for Dreamers. Coulter says that's amnesty - something "Jeb" would propose.

So what's the judgment of the Trumpsters here - who is right - Trump or Coulter?

7 ( +7 / -0 )

@bas4 how is it possible that two wing bats like Sanders and AOC can get nominated and put into the Senate?

Once again showing zero understanding of elections in the US. It was possible because a majority of individuals in their respective areas voted for them, not their opponents. That's a part of the US system of democracy.

@bas4  This country wasn’t built on socialism,

I don't know what you mean when you say 'socialism'. Would you call it socialism when corporate farms get billions in federal subsidies? When supposedly 'private' companies (see the list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top_100_Contractors_of_the_U.S._federal_government)

get billions from the federal government?

If a worker for Lockheed-Martin gets paid by Lockheed-Martin for work done for the feds, is he working for the private or public sector?

How about civilian journalists and sound-men working for Armed Forces Network? Using your sense of what socialism might be, are those civilians part of a socialist system? Other contractors here in japan and around the globe?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Since Donny boy spews out his daily dose of lies from his toilet seat, lets get him do the SOTU from there. I am sure Nancy wouldn't mind!!

3 ( +3 / -0 )

If that's worked then how come we still have a bunch of people still entering illegally across the border?

If it hasn't worked, why have south to north border crossings been decreasing for the past decade? Oh my . . . HAR! Tehee.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

This country wasn’t built on socialism, that is what’s undermining and destroying Democracy

It's not socialism that destroys democracy, it's the authoritarians that bastardized socialism to maintain their power. Try doing a little research.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I think I can predict Trump's State of the nation speech:

No President has achieved more than my administration has done in two years (rapturous sniggers)

We have stopped unfair trade practices and now China pays a 20% tax on their exports (no they don't, the Americans pay it).

NATO is now paying the billions to us that they owe (no NATO nation pays anything to the USA)

The forgotten people of the US are no longer forgotten (Damn, nearly forgot about the 1.0%)

America is now once again respected (the world laughing at trump at the UN).

Steel mills are opening all across America (ok, show me one)

We have ended the NK threat (read the papers recently Don?  They are developing new sites)

After the Obama years America is once again respected (By who?  Saudi?  Israel? Anyone?)

I am the greatest president ever! (refer first point).

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Once again showing zero understanding of elections in the US. It was possible because a majority of individuals in their respective areas voted for them, not their opponents. That's a part of the US system of democracy.

So is the EC.

I don't know what you mean when you say 'socialism'.

The redistribution of income, to over burden the middle class with outrageous tax hikes and to force a certain political and social way of thinking, often by force. Yes, I don’t think liberals understand the very essence of what true democracy is. Again, Cuba is just 90 min from Florida.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Is that how he brought the economy out of the abyss you conservatives shoved it into? Is that how he shrank the public sector and few the private sector? Is that how he presided over the start of the current bull market?

Now you know why Obama was a mess.

Further evidence that Trumpophiles don't care about our country.

I care about the country and the Southern border, I really don’t care about federal workers, they can always get out of the government and go to the private sector. If I hated America I would have given up on the President a long time ago.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Who is right Trump or Coulter? Coulter. But she isnt President.

You should have taken the compromise when you had it in front of you.

Could have saved a lot of people's jobs and paychecks and also secured our border. But Trump hate and mockery is more important to you than anything else. So here we are still. Where is the Dem compromise?

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Nancy will be there with that frozen look on her face the whole time Trump tells us about his plan for the security of America. He should invite Angel Moms while Dems invite illegal aliens again. Maybe invite those kids from Kentucky who were smeared by the liberal outrage mob too.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

@blacklabel

Trump still hasn't given a compromise on the wall. That is what was asked for. He offered a fake amnesty deal in return for his wall. A deal he was planning on asking supreme court to throw out later anyways.

Dems have offered multiple compromises. All shot down because Trump doesn't want to compromise on his wall. How many times does this need to be reiterated? A compromise worth accepting would be both parties losing something to get something. So you could say the same thing, could save a lot of peoples jobs, paychecks, and secure the border, if Trump would make a worthwhile compromise.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

It's not socialism that destroys democracy, it's the authoritarians that bastardized socialism to maintain their power. Try doing a little research.

Givr me a break, the system itself doesn’t bring economic prosperity. If you want to pay 100% Vat tax or shell out 64% of your income, fine by me, just don’t ask me to support such a looney idea.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

@blacklabel

What gives you the idea that bringing those kids along would help? Or so called "angel moms", or immigrants? Seems like you just want to aggravate others because you get a kick out of it. Shows what kind of person you are eh?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Another quote from Bass on socialism

Aug. 30, 2015  11:31 am JSTPosted in: Trump dumps insults on questioners; insists on control  See in context

Trump says he will tax the rich more and middle class less. He's a socialist. Look it up in the news.

That is definelty the one thing that DOES scare me about Trump.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

And Bass on the wall, until trump said it wasn't good enough it seems...

And you say this fence goes deep underground with thick steel plates to prevent tunneling.

bass: No, just fortify the border with more patrol agents and put troops from the National Guard in place, that would be the best deterrent.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Where is the Dem compromise?

A compromise is when two parties meet somewhere in the middle of both their demands. To be clear, there are three positions here:

1) What party A wants

2) What party B wants

3) A compromise somewhere in the middle.

Trump has made his position that there is a wall, or no deal. This is an ultimatum. There are only two positions here. You either accept the wall, or don't.

By forcing the options into a binary option, either A or B (0 or 1), there by definition can be no compromise, as a binary position is antithetical to compromise. Even if the Democrats wanted to compromise, they couldn't, as Trump has forced an ultimatum.

You guys keep asking where the compromise is, but the Democrats are not the ones who have defined the options as 'wall or not', that is Trump. When you guys say 'where is the Democratic compromise', what you are saying is gibberish, as there is no option of compromise. All you are asking is 'why won't the Democrats capitulate to Trump's ultimatum'.

And the reasons they won't capitulate are:

1) Because it would set a horrible precedent, that would change how America operates for generations (and not in a good way)

2) Because the people overwhelmingly don't want the wall, and blame the Republicans

3) Trump campaigned on a wall that Mexico would pay for, not America

Who is right Trump or Coulter? Coulter. But she isnt President.

Well, thanks for answering - I was thinking this would be another wiff like Don Jr and Eric saying they get all their money from Russia and Dad saying no investments there (still not answered by the way...)

So if Coulter is right, Donnie is dead wrong on this issue - it's amnesty, correct?

You should have taken the compromise when you had it in front of you.

Why - the DACA provisions were only temporary...

Could have saved a lot of people's jobs and paychecks and also secured our border. But Trump hate and mockery is more important to you than anything else. So here we are still. Where is the Dem compromise?

Trump hate and mockery from me?  Calling him "Jeb" is serious mockery - and I assume since you agree with Coulter over Trump, you agree with "Jeb" too?  If there's any mockery, it's coming from Repubs and Trump supporters - like you...

Regarding your mockery, I agree with you...

@bass

we allow these socialists to sneak into the White House, we will go down to that abyss and down that same road as Cuba

I know you know this sounds ridiculous. You've already told us you are afraid of Trump because he's a socialist...

Thank heavens I don't know you, nor do I care about your background. Still doesn't sound very impressive, thanks for giving us the short version. It means nothing to me still.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

just how incorrect, inconsistent, and inaccurate

Which is consistent with individuals having limited abilities to reason for themselves, those who can only parrot some meme heard on rightwing talk radio or read in a rightwing paper headline.

The extent of their beliefs is Trump, some rich talking mouth, or perhaps another demagogue said it, so they unquestioningly accept and parrot it.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

So what did Dems offer to lose in their compromise?

both parties losing something to get something.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

@blacklabel

They've offered partial funding for the 5.7 billion opposed to zero.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

and Trump has offered a fence instead of a wall.

They've offered partial funding for the 5.7 billion opposed to zero.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Nonsense, they can compromise with 200 miles of "fence" instead of the 2000 mile wall we really want.

How is "no wall" under any circumstances and refusing to increase the amount for border security a compromise. Same as what you are complaining about. 1.6 billion and no wall, take it or leave it. thats not a compromise.

Even if the Democrats wanted to compromise, they couldn't,

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

@blacklabel

Nah, you really think that argument works? All he's done is mocked the liberal party by changing his wording. The projected budget, layout, and plan hasn't changed one bit. You really think that's compromising?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I wouldnt define it as amnesty. But its way closer to amnesty than what illegals should get, which is immediate deportation. yet another compromise Trump made. But somehow its no big deal to Dems because you feel like DACA is guaranteed already when its not. Some people really gonna cry when its found unconstitutional and then Trump CANT offer it anymore.

If its not amnesty, Im sure it at least tastes like it. If we get the wall, might be worth giving. Otherwise, no way.

So if Coulter is right, Donnie is dead wrong on this issue - it's amnesty, correct?

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

@blacklabel

Some people really gonna cry when its found unconstitutional and then Trump CANT offer it anymore

So what you're saying is, Trump offering it in the first place as a compromise is just a way of conning the dems into giving him his wall? Because he knows it won't stick and they'll end up empty handed? Nice compromise...not.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

How is "no wall" under any circumstances and refusing to increase the amount for border security a compromise

The Dems offered money for border security, just not the nonsense wall.

https://www.apnews.com/e202cfbf409e4983a54d9fd5ac77b490

Accuracy constantly eludes some.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Even more compromise.

"The White House and McConnell have also sought to sweeten the pot: Their plan includes priorities backed by Democrats including extension of the Violence Against Women Act and more than $12 billion in disaster relief funding."

Love how if you dont LIKE what is offered, it somehow doesnt count as a compromise. If it different than what we wanted at the first, it definitely IS.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Obviously not. If Dems accept it, an actual LAW can be passed in Congress to protect the Dreamers.

Otherwise, DACA will be found unconstitutional at some point and thats the end of it. There is a chance to make it a law now before that happens. So the compromise is a legal solution for DACA for wall funding.

So what you're saying is, Trump offering it in the first place as a compromise is just a way of conning the dems into giving him his wall?

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Their plan includes priorities backed by Democrats including extension of the Violence Against Women Act and more than $12 billion in disaster relief funding."

Rupublivans/Trumpophiles don't support the violence against women act or disaster relief?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

@Chip Star

Considering the wild claim that "dems don't want border security", that's one hell of a compromise on their part! But the reality is, dems do want border security. Just not the same way some bigoted American's do in the form of a giant wall that will do very little in solving any problems at all.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Which is exactly what I said. No wall, and no increase in money for border security. Just the amount they offered in the beginning, it has not increased whatsoever. Why cant they offer 5 billion and no wall? they wont even do that.

The Dems offered money for border security, just not the nonsense wall.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Otherwise, DACA will be found unconstitutional at some point and thats the end of it. There is a chance to make it a law now before that happens

If DACA is unconstitutional now, it will be so when its law. You're quite confused here. Obama creating DACA may be unconstitutional, but that's far different than DACA being unconstitutional.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

@blacklabel

So what you are saying is, Trump is holding the "dreamers" hostage in return for his wall. Sounds like an abuse of human rights or like he's just toying with a lot of peoples lives to get what he wants. If the legal solution is there, it won't just be found unconstitutional because Dems wouldn't give into Trumps demands.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Well, I'd like to thank the Trumpsters here for giving us a prime example of the Great Republican Civil War.

Trump, who embodies all their far right conservative values, has "turned coat" and offered "amnesty" to illegal immigrants. Oh my indeed...

Coulter, who does nothing but toss out provocative statements so someone will pay attention to her, says he's acting like Jeb Bush, who is as hated by the far right as Hillary. In other words, a serious slam.

Trump, who is always quick to hit back when insulted, hasn't said a word, because as we've seen here, she has more pull with his base than he does.

Welcome to the Friday night fights...

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Good grief. It’s unconstitutional because it didn’t go through Congress who makes laws. Congress can pass a law that results in the DACA people being able to stay.

If DACA is unconstitutional now, it will be so when its law.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

No Trump is extending the courtesy of supporting a legal solution in the Congress. for those who are illegally in the USA only because of an unconstitutional presidential order.

He doesn’t have to support this legislation he can just wait until DACA is done and kick them out. This is a compromise to support something we don’t want to do and don’t have to do.

Anyway, Nancy will be sitting right behind Trump when he gives his SOTU address. Gonna be great to see it.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

It’s unconstitutional because it didn’t go through Congress who makes laws.

Opinions do not make facts, no one has ruled DACA to be unconstitutional. And I suggest you understand the meaning of that word before spouting it here.

This is a compromise to support something we don’t want to do and don’t have to do.

How is offering something, which is already guaranteed by the courts, a compromise ??

Gonna be great to see it.

I agree, to see Trump whimpering after being smacked down by Nancy, will certainly be enjoyable.

Popcorn is on me!

3 ( +3 / -0 )

CNN put out a list of 6 ways the shutdown could end. Democrats doing anything at all was not on the list.

Democrats on Obamacare: We need to pass it to see what's in it.

Democrats on Border Funding deal: We don't want to see what's in it.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Anyway, Nancy will be sitting right behind Trump when he gives his SOTU address. Gonna be great to see it.

Yep, looking forward to seeing Pence with his "I'm going to be President soon" smirk on his face...

And in other news, another right-winger steps into the ring...

Former Arkansas governor and father of White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders, Mike Huckabee, took a swipe at conservative political commentator Ann Coulter Monday, suggesting that if she wants to make decisions about U.S. border policies, perhaps she should just “run for office.”

Good grief. It’s unconstitutional because it didn’t go through Congress who makes laws.

Lolz Can you keep your story straight? Before you were claiming congress works for the president, now your story changes. Well, good on you, at least for acknowledging the constitutional separation of powers.

Unforunately for our anti-immigrant Trump fans, the courts have refused to issue a ruling; meaning your opinion on the matter is just that-an opinion.

Too bad that bargaining chip went away.;)

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Anyway, Nancy will be sitting right behind Trump when he gives his SOTU address

It"s gonna be the SOTU address of all time! Bring the popcorn! I'm gonna watch it twice - the first time I'm gonna block out Nancy's face so I can concentrate on what Trump says. The second time I'll be rolling on the floor, it'll be a struggle to get through it and my stomach's gonna be hurting, but it'll be worth it!

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

The Dems offered money for border security, just not the nonsense wall.

So what’s the border security? Please explain in detail.

Considering the wild claim that "dems don't want border security", that's one hell of a compromise on their part!

So is offering Dreamers temporary status until their case is heard. So tell me, what border security do the Democrats want? Maybe you can clarify it in detail.

But the reality is, dems do want border security. Just not the same way some bigoted American's do in the form of a giant wall that will do very little in solving any problems at all.

Ok, such as?

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

because it’s not guaranteed. These people are one ruling away from deportation. So should legalize then through Congress.

I notice no one talking about the guarantee that transgenders can join the military. Saw what happened? What you wish is true and what the courts rule isn’t the same. Take the deal and legalize the dreamers.

How is offering something, which is already guaranteed by the courts, a compromise ??

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Trump, who embodies all their far right conservative values, has "turned coat" and offered "amnesty" to illegal immigrants. Oh my indeed...

Trying to reach down the aisle, seems like Nancy doesn’t want to...oh, well...

Coulter, who does nothing but toss out provocative statements so someone will pay attention to her, says he's acting like Jeb Bush, who is as hated by the far right as Hillary. In other words, a serious slam.

As much as I like Ann, she’s a bit talkative like Lemon, Spliff and Hirono. These are people that are dumb, racists, don’t know what they heck they’re talking about, but make a decent living, must be nice.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

In reality, the they do, nothing has changed and my "story" is the same. All branches are equal yet the executive branch decides what is prioritized.

Thats why the only way Dreamer legislation gets a vote is if Trump agrees with it. He is saying he will support this legislation IF he gets the money for the border security including the wall. Cant do it without the President supporting it. reality.

Lolz Can you keep your story straight? Before you were claiming congress works for the president, now your story changes.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

so you think they arent going to rule like, forever? thats just a temporary reprieve, why wouldnt you take the chance to pass a law to make a Supreme Court decision unnecessary?

Judge said it is likely illegal: https://www.npr.org/2018/08/31/643814735/texas-judge-says-daca-is-probably-illegal-but-leaves-it-in-place do you really want to risk it? or just want it to be proven illegal then whine about how racist a policy it is, blah blah?

You can do something about it, right now.

I am anti ILLEGAL immigrant. Liberals keep forgetting to distinguish between the two very different things.

Unforunately for our anti-immigrant Trump fans, the courts have refused to issue a ruling; meaning your opinion on the matter is just that-an opinion.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Good grief. It’s unconstitutional because it didn’t go through Congress who makes laws. Congress can pass a law that results in the DACA people being able to stay.

It wasn't a law, it was a policy regarding the enforcement of a law. The president enforces the laws Congress passes. How he enforces them is his choice. Do a little research sans the partisanship.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Trying to reach down the aisle, seems like Nancy doesn’t want to...oh, well...

That sums this person's knowledge up nicely.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

. All branches are equal yet the executive branch decides what is prioritized.

Incorrect. Try again. Cursory research will ensure you know a bit beyond rudimentary knowledge of how the US government works.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

ok, best of luck. Seems the military transgender policy that was also “guaranteed” to go your way would give you a hint how this is gonna end.

Fasle equivalency. The president is commander in chief and transgender hasn't been recognized as a constitutionally protected class.

guess liberals don’t mind to risk other people’s deportation as long as they get the personal joy of resisting Trump.

Incorrect. You guys are the ones that enjoy chanting lock her up, so . . .

3 ( +4 / -1 )

He didn’t have this authority when liberals guaranteed me they have the “right” to join the military.

You did not hear that from me. They don't have the right yet, but that may well change.

I’m glad you now at least understand some of the presidential powers. You are about to see even more of them.

I'll gladly take the Pepsi Challenge regarding knowledge of presidential power with any poster here.

Trying to drag Dems into an all Repub fight again I see - this is Coulter, Malkin, et al against Trump and so far Huckabee - and from your previous comment, you against Trump since you said you side with Ann...

Cursory research will ensure you know a bit beyond rudimentary knowledge of how the US government works.

Wow. Asserted like you have exclusive rights to "a bit beyond rudimentary knowledge". Us poor blokes who just happen to disagree with you are expected to kowtow to the left wing version of reality?

How about a full explanation from your point of view so we can discuss. Enlighten us please.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Still no wall today. One more day of winning.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

That sums this person's knowledge up nicely.

It wouldn’t be the first time liberals didn’t know what they were doing.

Trying to drag Dems into an all Repub fight again I see - this is Coulter, Malkin, et al against Trump and so far Huckabee - and from your previous comment, you against Trump since you said you side with Ann...

No, not trying, it’s already slowly morphing into a Democrat/Socialist income redistribution for all cat fight. Pelosi, Biden, Chucky against the far left spinning around moonbats Harris (at least trying to be insanely left) Spartacus and the old White Sanders. Gee, how will they proceed, which one is more radical, how will the Democrats appeal to their more moderate Democrats? AOC as nutty as she is does get under Pelosi’s skin, almost feel sorry for her trying to keep the party together. Maybe Spartacus can help them. Lol

I'm not sure what all that means, but it's nice seeing the Repubs snipe at one another.

Since you agree with Ann that Trump's proposal is amnesty, are you going to start calling him "Jeb" too?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

I'm not sure what all that means,

Democrat division brewing, coming to a socialist theater near you.

No, it's one more day that the Democrats are gonna regret heavily.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

I am anti ILLEGAL immigrant. Liberals keep forgetting to distinguish between the two very different things.

No, no. You are a big fan of the Trump administration. The Trump administration wants to curb legal immigration. So, you are in fact anti-immigrant. Put on your big boy pants and own it.

Lolz that is not what you said. Here is what you said:

Jan. 10  06:16 pm JSTPosted in: Trump walks out of talks on shutdown; calling meeting 'total waste of time' See in context

The Dems job isn’t done until their boss (the President) signs off on it as approval. What they have done is submitted a rejected proposal, they have “passed” nothing.

https://japantoday.com/memer/blacklabel?page=8

So, yeah, get your story straight.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

all the Democrats need to do is just fund the wall and the president will do his part,

oh please give in to Trumps ransom of federal workers salaries , Trump will use it every time when the next debt ceiling raise or government funding bill comes around. Trump just has to realise that he has to negotiate now not ram through legislation unopposed. Proposing to give back DACA for a limited 3yrs, which he took away and was there since 2012 isnt negotiating its insulting.

Trump is like school boy logic,

"here's the bag of marbles I stole from you , you can have them back , but if I give them back I want another bag of free marbles to go on top. Oh after 3yrs I want the original bag of marble I stole from you back also, so basically your left with nothing, and Im up two bags of marbles". All the while hes holding all the other kids lunch money to ransom so he can get to keep his two bags of marbles. LMFAO

2 ( +2 / -0 )

oh please give in to Trumps ransom of federal workers salaries , Trump will use it every time when the next debt ceiling raise or government funding bill comes around.

And the Dems wouldn’t use that hand? Come on....

Trump just has to realise that he has to negotiate now not ram through legislation unopposed. Proposing to give back DACA for a limited 3yrs, which he took away and was there since 2012 isnt negotiating its insulting.

Well, then in that case the Democrats should give in and try to negotiate on how to fund the wall and then they can work out a sweet deal and Obama should have never made an executive order like that? He knew that can would be kicked down the road, should have never happened. The DACA recipients can wait a little longer, the border should take center stage and should be THE highest priority over these people.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Limiting legal immigration makes no one anti immigrant. It means we decide how many per year. If we were anti immigrant the number allowed would be between zero and zero. We don’t HAVE to allow any legal immigration if we don’t want.

oh, really? What perfectly rational, totally not bigoted reason is there to reduce immigration? Fact is, the party of Stephen Miller and Steve King hates immigrants, and will do whatever they can to stop immigrants.

Proves my point. Dems claimed they passed something, yet nothing had happened. Why is that? Why isn’t the government open? Failed proposal. President decides what and when.

Lolz So, how do you figure DACA is unconstitutional? Absolutely hilarious. On the one hand you think the president is the boss of Democrats, while at the same time claiming the ex-president Obama was subservient to congress.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

oh, really? What perfectly rational, totally not bigoted reason is there to reduce immigration? Fact is, the party of Stephen Miller and Steve King hates immigrants, and will do whatever they can to stop immigrants.

Oh, stop! Democrats could care less about immigrants, especially illegals, if they did then why do they leave black neighborhoods in shambles, why do they neglect them, why do they allow the homeless population to spike out of control? Democrats paint themselves as the savior and friends of minorities and that couldn’t be further from the truth. The only thing they care about is getting their votes and that’s all they care about.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Oh, stop!

I'll stop when you prove me wrong. I'm not moving the chains. Outside of the bigotry that has come to categorize the party of Steve King and Stephen Miller, what totally, not anti-immigrant reason is there? I'll wait.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

I'll stop when you prove me wrong. I'm not moving the chains. Outside of the bigotry that has come to categorize the party of Steve King and Stephen Miller, what totally, not anti-immigrant reason is there? I'll wait.

I see....so how have the Democrats, the party of minorities (as they claim) made the lives of Blacks and Latinos better? How are cities like Chicago, Baltimore, LA, SF. St. Louis, Oakland, Compton, Detroit doing under Democrat rule? How have the Democrats made the lives of these people better since they’re as you say, “not racist.” When Biden said that Obama is a different kind of Black man, smart and educated, what was he implying, the man of gaffes? Or when Harry Reid said, he doesn’t speak like most Blacks or when Clinton said there would be a time when his kind would serve and wait tables for them. Spare me! Democrats pretend they’re not racist, but their attitudes and policies say otherwise.
