He said of his rhetoric: "I hated to do it. Sometimes I felt foolish doing it. But we had no choice."

No, life is filled with choices - you just keep making bad ones and refuse to man-up to them.

Exactly.

This is straight out of the abuser's playbook: "I may be a horrible person, but you wouldn't be anything without me." Never mind that this deal doesn't get us anywhere close to the position we were in before Bush Jr. "Axis of Evil" comment provoked North Korea to kick out UN weapon inspectors, never mind that Trump gave a massive concession to North Korea without getting anything concrete in return, and never mind that Trump's promise to withdraw from the Korean peninsula came as a total surprise to his own allies and his own military. He needs you to believe you are powerless without him, because otherwise he has no niche to fit into.

There won’t be any withdrawals soon, until there is verification and proof until there are steps made to completely denuclearize and to allow weapons inspectors to check every single site.

He insulted Trudeau last week. Does he feel foolish about that yet? As far as NK, don't trust and verify.

Trump says he felt foolish lobbing insults at Kim last year

Well that's interesting. He looked foolish too, but I'm surprised to hear him admit it.

Trump will want to remove American troops from South Korea before the end of a second term of office otherwise he'll lose out on the public glory. He will also want the denuclearization by then too.

He can’t just unilaterally do it, Congress would have to agree to that and that just would never happen until and way beyond the reunification of the two Koreas. Long, long, long way to go before that happens.

What was it Obama said, "Yes! We can!"

Should have been more like “no, we couldn’t.”

It was Trump's fiery rhetoric, insults and harsh sanctions that brought Kim to request audience and meeting with Trump. They met, had dialogue and negotiations off to a good start. The leftists are having trouble accepting that Trump was able to accomplish something that Obama couldn't.

Trump will want to remove American troops from South Korea before the end of a second term of office

You mean there will be a second term? Most here were predicting he wouldn't last through the first. But glad to hear acknowledgement of a second term.

If American troops are removed from South Korea, most likely they will be moved to Okinawa, given Okinawa's proximity to Taiwan and China Seas. But let's see what happens in 2020. China's aggressive activities in the China Seas and its aggression toward Taiwan will be the focus of the next international crisis.

Hannity - the fountain of morality.

This was nothing to do the man-child's big mouth. China, NK's Korea's biggest trade partner (about 90%) stopped business. Plus, the mountains where NK carried out nuclear tests, collapsed rendering that location useless (and, might I add, dangerous). Man-child was at the right place at the right time.

Funny how Repugnicans criticized Obama for wanting to open up dialogue with NK and were disgusted and angry, and yet changed their tune when their dictator (using Fox News' own word) decided to do the same thing. Thank you to AlfieNoakes for that hypocrisy Fox video on YouTube.

"I think without the rhetoric we wouldn't have been here."

So it was all just BS, just words. And he's admitting it.

Now the North Korean regime knows Trump's threats are meaningless. As are his promises.

A master negotiator shouldn't blab his real intentions on Fox. As Don Corleone said to Sonny, "Never tell anybody outside the family what you’re thinking again."

I wonder will he feel foolish for praising Kim for running the DPRK "tough" at "that age"?

All along voices of reason rightly took him and Kim to task for the belicose, threatening statements.

Now, everything has changed.

Can they both wind their necks in, I wonder?

Because we didnt want a weak leader like Obama meeting Kim. It wasnt the idea of the meeting, it was the idea of who would be meeting him. Further proven by his refusal to even talk to Rodman, the one guy who was going to N Korea during that time. But hey Clapper wanted to use Rodman as a SPY, there is that.

Because we didnt want a weak leader like Obama meeting Kim.

No, you've got that backward. Considered weak by the right because he wanted to meet Kim. That was always the narrative. You can't change that now.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Yes, because HE wanted to meet Kim. We didnt want HIM meeting Kim. Also, he wasnt serious about it, or he would have talked to Rodman.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

He sees NK as strong. He's going to lean towards appeasement, then throw a wrench into things when he reads how the media is saying he's weak.

So it was all just BS, just words. And he's admitting it.

It’s good.

Now the North Korean regime knows Trump's threats are meaningless. As are his promises.

As if they ever trusted Americans in the first place. But maybe they they’ll trust Trump since he put a halt to the war games.

A master negotiator shouldn't blab his real intentions on Fox.

No, America is a democracy, he can talk as much as he wants.

As Don Corleone said to Sonny, "Never tell anybody outside the family what you’re thinking again."

He’s not Corleone, Corleone murdered people, had them chopped up.

I wonder will he feel foolish for praising Kim for running the DPRK "tough" at "that age"?

Yes, after such a historic meeting, he should start antagonizing him and calling him what he really is, as my dad said, you more with honey than with vinegar. Schumer and Spliff that loon think they can do better as do most liberals.

On msnbc we had the woman that gave us McCain and failed miserably and lost to Obama and then we had a man who worked under Bush who equally didn’t solve the NK issue.

All along voices of reason rightly took him and Kim to task for the belicose, threatening statements.

You gotta do what you gotta do to get the deal.

Now, everything has changed.

Can they both wind their necks in, I wonder?

Ohhhh....ROFL..no comment.

Weasel: "No, life is filled with choices - you just keep making bad ones and refuse to man-up to them."

Oooh, this one went way over your head, didn't it, Weasel. Trump knew it would sound foolish/childish yet he also knew it just might work. ( and it did ) And then he admitted to it at this press conference. Fact is Trump has got more done already on this problem than Obama, Bush and Billy Boy did before him.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

So are we to believe that for the FIRST time in the Orange one’s life he actually felt bad about insulting someone?

Maybe it’s more of the realization that him and Kim have more in common!

Trump got his way (despite the objections of the Cold War warriors in the woodwork of the Deep State). He met the unsavoury, young dictator. Knowing the eyes of the world were on him he relished this occasion to feed his insatiable narcissism and basked in the sunny Singapore photo-op while "making deals" mano a mano in private. This must have been his most enjoyable experience as POTUS in counterpoint to his extreme discomfort at the disastrous G7 where all the world leaders were unanimous in grading Trumpy's personableness and communicability a zero. But his grandstanding stunt surely comes with a price: his domestic enemies in government will be sharpening their knives and lying in wait. Meanwhile, the foolish El Trumpo , as Grand Jester, will continue entertaining us with his idiocracy. "All the world's a stage" and "pride comes before a fall", methinks!

Ofcourse the POTUS felt foolish after he met this 'talented man', 'great leader of his people' and 'a good negotiator' :)
