The two Koreas and China did the work, but dotard will steal the credit.

I guess the president of South Korea is a liar then.
takeda.shingen.1991@gmail.com
Its called a diplomatic nicety, something a conman like Donny knows nothing about.

If an end to the Korean war and normal ties can be established between the N and S, then it is possible that SK can act as an arbitrator in future talks regarding many things. Lets try to be optimistic.

No, unrelenting pressure from Trump and pushing North Korea and hitting them with the heaviest of sanctions is the prime reason for bringing them to their knees that is why they have capitulated on everything the Trump administration demanded so far. Also, making sure that China does not get involved or throw a monkeywrench into the negotiation between the two Koreas and the US that’s the reason why they are so ticked off
Without a doubt he should credit for it. Who else backed NK into the corner? Who pushed and threatened and hit them with sanctions? It wasn’t the South Koreans, it was in Germany and it definitely was not China.
What? Lol, The last three presidents didn’t do anything remotely to get to this point, not even close
SuperLib
I suppose Trump should involve himself in some way. Let’s just hope he doesn’t get in the way of the two Koreas with a harmful tweet.
takeda.shingen.1991@gmail.com
Totally, he really showed them tough and scary with his Twitter thumbs. So scary.;)

Trump has to be seen as a factor in getting the Koreas to this point.
Other factors include:
Korean peoples wanting unification. Hats off to Moon and Kim for listening and acting.
the effects on NK citizens from years of sanctions, making an unstable nation even more volatile and making its leaders recognize something needed to be done for them to maintain their positions and prevent civil disorders
NK people hearing accounts of a better life in SK and wanting improvements in their own
the collapse of NK’s nuclear test site
pressures from China, maybe Russia
pressures from around the world
NK realizing to improve its economy it would need to be less isolationist
so many othersWhich one was the main ‘butterfly’ depends on an individual’s beliefs. I’m just happy it’s gone this far.

Trump's pressure and sanctions had to have something to do with it. How far the talks go I can't say but I'll agree that let's be optimistic. And hope that rash statements don't make a mess of things. By Trump. Or Putin or Xi. There are other players here that might prefer the status quo.

No, a nicety would be something vague like 'We'd like to thank President Trump for his help' not 'I think President Trump deserves big credit for bringing about the inter-Korean talks'. Moon spoke in specifics.
Trump was the first leader to push back at Kim as hard as he pushed. It seems to have worked. Like him or hate him, give credit where credit is due. This is no better than when the right refuses to give credit to something Obama did.
bass4funk
No, the Koreans aren’t Democrats so they should be ok with it if he does.
It does help, threats, sanctions and warnings via tweets, it sure does, I agree.
I agree.
That might take a while longer, if it ever comes to that point, one could only hope, it would be a great thing.
Sorry, have to disagree, China was part of the problem why they kept having all these setbacks and since the Trump administration blocked China from the talks and did direct negotiations with the North.
Well, I agree as well. This would be great for the two Koreas and the world in general if this would happen down the road, but we have to be cautious and somewhat skeptical given the North’s past history, because they have played the apologetic card so many times only to renege on their promises and going back to their old ways of rhetoric and saber rattling.

It's kinda fun to watch the anti-Trump lefties/whoever heads spinning around on their shoulders searching for an angle.

I am "anti-Trump" and liberal (in a classical sense) so I guess that would make me left of center.
In this case I agree with what Extanker said. I think Trump pushed back against Kim much harder than we have seen in the past and this could be a reason for the breakthrough, or at least it could have had something to do with it. Also I would love to know what the specific contents of the CIA (Pompeo) meeting with Kim were. The timing of all of this is interesting.
This alone does not change my mind/feelings about Trump but if he did, in fact, have something to do with this he deserves credit for it.
The 2 countries talking and meeting is a good start and if this can be resolved peacefully and with minimal disruption it is good for East Asia and the rest of the world.
My concern is whether or not Trump can do what I think is the right thing. I think he should sit back and take a back seat now that Kim and Moon are talking and do not do anything provocative which could derail the process. Give the 2 Koreas a chance to move forward and formally declare an end to the Korean war. That would be the next huge step.
Jimizo
Trump has already been in a trash-talk exchange with Kim with schoolboy insults. Idiotic and dangerous.
Just say he shouldn’t do it. It is okay to recognise Trump’s bad sides. You don’t need to defend everything he does. It isn’t a cult.
dcog9065
Well done to America, Japan and other allies for bringing this foul criminal state to its knees through sanctions. These SK talks didn’t produce anything of substance, which was expected, so time to keep the pressure on and even pile it on further.
Hopefully next time we can get more than some photos of two morons holding hands

Has everyone forgotten that Kim visited China 25-28 March, question is did he go voluntarily or was he summoned, check out this picture at the end of this linked article and then decide who call the shots, especially the look on Kim's face, I think I'll let the picture do the talking

After Trumps embarrassing rant on Fox and friends this week, and coming after France's Macron's speech to the senate, which must have sent Trump into a spiral. I wouldn't let Trump negotiate a school yard fight, never mind a summit with Kim.
goldorak
KJU is the only one who can answer that.
Pukey2
No, it was not Trump. Kim knows he can't do any more nuclear testing because the mountains where they usually do it collapsed, and there is a risk of radiation leak.
And as for Moon, this is a former human rights lawyer and activist who lied that he was against homosexuality so that he could win the presidential election. Politicians lie a lot to get their way or be diplomatic. You can bet your life he thinks that Trump is a ticking time bomb.
Blacklabel
See the other article, the “he can’t use his site anymore” liberal talking points have been debunked.
CrazyJoe
For starters Rump's claim that he made North Korea end its nuclear testing is a joke. The Chinese have indicated that the North Korea nuclear test facility has collapsed and is unusable. So North Korea's claim that it is voluntarily ending testing is false. It has ended because their facility collapsed and it will likely take a year or two to build a new one.
And as for any claim that they will dismantle their nuclear weapons that too should not be believed. They are aware of Rump's plans to end the Iranian nuclear agreement. Does anyone seriously think they will believe a word Rump says about any agreement they might reach with him? And even if North Korea said it would allow inspections of its weapons sites does anyone doubt that they will simply move the weapons into China for safe keeping?
Rump is a moron of gargantuan proportions. He is a terrible negotiator of anything. The only thing he has managed is six bankruptcies. No other supposed billionaire can come even close to that claim.

The name is President of the United States, Donald J. Trump. Calling him by other than his name makes you look petty in a story about how he is making works peace.
In addition to the fact that you are still pushing the story the US intelligence sources have debunked. Same US intelligence you loved when they were saying Russia hacked things.
Goodlucktoyou
NK is a excuse for USA to have bases in this region and abe to stay in power. The next excuse will be Taiwan.

Readers, stop this nonsense please.

Isn't it unfortunate that this historic summit event occurred under Trump/Abe watch......and unfortunate that this didn't happen while Obama was President? No doubt this is a bitter pill for the anti-Trump/Abe folks here to swallow.
The big question is what really pushed Kim to scale back the nuclear and missile tests and seek summits with Moon and Trump: Trump/Abe hardline rhetoric and sanctions, or Kim's sudden meeting with Xi last month?
And what did Xi really instruct Kim to do? Make "peace" and "denuclearization" overtures, dance with Moon, stall and divert attention while China quietly sets the stage for the next international crisis in the East/South China Seas during the next few years.
Has anybody noticed China conducting live fire combat drills in the East China Seas showcasing their new aircraft carrier task force Is this a dress rehearsal for the anticipated Taiwan invasion/annexation?

Anyway, I applaud the president for his unrelenting actions what he has done to push the north into a corner and to have these talks progress to this level now now all we need to do is have the talks and if everything goes well and the North Koreans can give up a lot of concessions, we can take it from there. If this all goes well he (Trump) Kim and Moon all deserve the Peace Prize.
takeda.shingen.1991@gmail.com
Totally. When you put it that way, its a big difference. Huge. ;) Specifics like, "Trump deserves big credit for bringing about the inter-Korean talks." Yeah, bigly specific. ;)
lolololol He pushed back how? By calling KJU "lil rocket man?" hahahahahaha Are you out of your mind? Right, Donny is so tough, he just sits and tweets all day. So tough and scary ;)
Remind me, when is the last time Obama took to Twiiter about him not getting enough credit for anything? Yawn...
Its no different from the Ball incident. He whined and whined about not being thanked for freeing the Ball kid. Turns out it had nothing to do with him. SAme with the Trump buildings: Trump leases his name, he doesn't actually build.
Thanks, Congrautlations, and Good luck to the adults actually at the meeting; Donny, have fun golfing, and don't get bonespurs ;)

Trump pushed so hard all you sad liberals claimed we were all going to die. Remember that? How scared you were that he pushed back so hard? Guam and Hawaii were going to be vaporized.
But now, oh Trump didn’t do anything.
takeda.shingen.1991@gmail.com
I don't. Go ahead and quote me. Where did I say that? Where did I say Guam and Hawaii were gonna be vaporized? Back to your fan boy comics. ;)
Strangerland
Yeah, it was a scary prospect. Fortunately this is happening in spite of Trump's actions, as he was only escalating the situation.

N. Korean must give up also Chemical weapons too. With President Trump, the N. Korean Government will get nothing free this time.
Kim Jong-un must do homework before he comes to the table to meet with the President Trump. President Trump is not Bill Clinton or Barack Obama and he is one of the toughest businessmen in the world and he won't give away free even a cent unless you give him what he wanted first.
Kim Jong-un must be honest himself before he comes to meet with the President Trump.
Strangerland
Which is why he sometimes ends up with nothing. Like in the TPP agreement.
There are negotiators that are too weak, and negotiators that are too agressive. Neither are good at actually coming to a deal.

The only thing trump is going to maintain pressure on is his golf clubs, cheeseburgers and the remote control for faux news.
