When little Kim meet Adolf Twitter im going to be holding my breath, scary stuff.

I wish them luck.

Has anything ever not been 'very well' or 'really big' or 'unlike the world has ever seen' with Trump before? I mean I know it's music to the easily brainwashed Dumb Trumpets but to the rest of us it's just the carnival barkings of a clueless man who is merely a mouth piece puppet.

5 ( +9 / -4 )

Let’s hope this is not turning as a farce.

You mean, the people that choose to think for themselves and not be sheep like the collective left.

but to the rest of us it's just the carnival barkings of a clueless man who is merely a mouth piece puppet

But the left aren’t puppets for the general msm. Give me a break. Lol

As for opposition by Democrats, Republican Cory Gardner, who chairs an Asia subcommittee, said in an interview that they "want to play partisan politics."

California democrat Dianne Feinstein doesn't like that Pompeo supports traditional marriage.  New Jersey democrat Cory Booker asked Pompeo if he thought “gay sex is a perversion.” Their new standard seems to be that any nominee who agrees with Trump is to be disqualified.

The fact that we have politicians actively obstructing the creation of a lawful government for the most powerful country in the world is infinitely more embarrassing than anything Trump can post on Twitter. Their hatred for him has caused them to abandon rational judgment.

And his inauguration crowd was the largest in history....!

The meeting hasnt been set up yet, but Trump is already preparing for failure.

Some negotiator he is !!

Don't worry people, Trumpy does not have the intestinal fortitude to meet Kim.

Bone spurs in his feet coupled with very small hands and being a profound coward suggests it just ain't gunna happen.

The left is left eating President Trump's dust once again. Remember when the democrat operatives posing as journalists in the USM called him a dangerous idiot for exchanging tweets with little Rocket Man that will only lead to a global nuclear Armageddon? Now, they, along with the rest of the world, has learned his SecDef actually met with Kim to finalize plans for a face-to-face sit down with our president.

While the U.S. radical alt-left media machine focuses all their attention on aging porn actress Stormy Daniels and Jim Come(d)y's interviews to help him promote his book, President Trump remains on point to make this world a safer place to live.

Winning!!!!

but Trump is already preparing for failure. Kim wont except regime change or full unfettered access to his country and Trump would likely require both, NK will demand far more than Trump is willing to give in exchange for his Nukes. Basically Kim wont bow and become Trumps lap dog, and Trump wont accept any deal unless it makes him look like a victor that has beat the minions into submission.

Perhaps he says these things to put the ball in Kim's court and make clear what U.S. expectations are of such a meeting. This is not a meeting like Obama's diplomatic visits to Cuba or Hiroshima, because its purpose is to negotiate nuclear disarmament (that is what "fruitful" means). I think The Donald is saying if Kim is not willing to put that on the table, a meeting is not going to happen.

Well, the headline took a sharp turn since my original comment....

Trump isn't going to cancel a meeting. He's just playing low-level salesman/showman again for a little attention.

Texas A&M: The left is left eating President Trump's dust once again.

The left has always supported talks. We supported them under Clinton, we supported talks with Cuba and Iran with Obama. And the Right, and especially their media, practically threw daggers at Obama for even broaching the idea of meeting people like that.

I've always supported talking, have consistently in the past, and continue to do so with this meeting now. So, welcome aboard. We've been waiting for you for a long time.

Maybe. We can hope, as it would be a win for all of us.

I'm curious, are you thinking should he be pardoned for any/all of his wrongs if he manages to bring peace with North Korea?

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Oh were you at the meeting last week too to know what Kim wont accept? Hows the wi-fi over there? do they have a TGI Fridays?

Kim wont except regime change or full unfettered access to his country and Trump would likely require both, NK will demand far more than Trump is willing to give in exchange for his Nukes.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Good luck.

I really hope NK does the right thing and Trump doesn't do something stupid. Both have a long history of not doing the right thing and doing something stupid.

But ending the Korean War after all these years and denuclearization of NK would probably outweigh anything but the most major felonies.

Ending tensions would be great and I honestly wish him luck, but no, it wouldn't outweigh ANY felonies if he's found guilty. That's not how justice is supposed to work. And felonies by definition are serious crimes.

Getting our citizens back or not will be a key indicator of how this will go:

Not news

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Media has been reporting Abe's visit more than dispute between US Ambassador Nikki Haley and Trump or CIA Chief revealing he talked with Kim. Japan, Japan, I hear all day long.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Will Trump sing happy birthday?

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Kim would kill his other brother if that's what it took to get a meeting with Trump. At best, it would elevate the last remnant of Stalinist Soviet influence to a player on the world stage. At worst it would give Kim a real opportunity to play Trump for the fool that he is by stroking his ego. He would have Trump eating out of his hand after the first 5 minutes.

But, even in the unlikely event that Trump would agree to read from a script, North Korea has no intention of giving up their nukes or missiles. Kim's goal is to reunify the Korean peninsula under his own communist dictatorship.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Any good leader prepares for possible contingency plans.

I am sure a good leader would, but we are talking about Trump here.

Perhaps he says these things to put the ball in Kim's court and make clear what U.S. expectations are of such a meeting.

If the North Korean read or listen to news I am sure they'll know.

It is difficult to "read" and "interpret" exact;y what Trump is saying and "intends" to do. That desends on the situation, circumstances and conditions within which both sides "meet". Obviously the ground work has been done and some common ground issues have been resolved for this kind of meeting to take place.

The most important aspect is the goals and purposes both sides have agreed upon to negotiate with. The "intentions" are obviously different for both. The issues are only what is at the surface where it is visible and open to the rest of the world to see. No negotiation really exposes the heart and intent of either side. The results obtained is only the surface.

However, if the "objectives" are properly aligned and parallel toward a "peaceful" and mutually agreeable as well as beneficial stage, a concrete starting point for further adjustments as needed which will definitely occur, then, such a meeting as this would probably have been worth the effort on both sides. As for the oither parties (countries and persons) that played a part in coordinating anad arranging this meeting, they definitely deserve the recognition, regardless of their level of involvement.

Trump as a negotiator and communicator would not lose this "opportunity" to open the doors to a more meaningful negotiating environment. He as well as the world not just the US has a lot to benefit and gain from this opportunity.

The world cannot "expect" a "definite" yes or no or good or bad result from the critical and "initial" meeting. It would be foolish to even "require" such results and accomplishment by either side.

Complete denuclearization without conditions such as troop withdrawals.

Winning!

Two parts to the story:

The meeting and resolution, hopefully, is one step closer. I hope it turns out well.

Not debriefing senators during the customary meetings. Who cares if it comes out well.

Now, they, along with the rest of the world, has learned his SecDef actually met with Kim to finalize plans for a face-to-face sit down with our president

What?! Pompeo, the head of the CIA is General Mattis, the SecDef? Or is Mattis Pompeo? Deep state! Deep state!

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

I really hope NK does the right thing and Trump doesn't do something stupid.

More like the other way around. All Trump has to do if Kim acts like a nut or won’t keep his promise to denuclearize, Trump will walk, hit them with more crippling sanctions simple as that. Let’s see what the NK leader wants, the ball is in his court.

Both have a long history of not doing the right thing and doing something stupid.

Trump starved Americans????? He killed off his brother????

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

More sanctions is the stick? I think it will take more than that, especially with the Chinese and Russians going around them.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

The left has always supported talks. We supported them under Clinton, we supported talks with Cuba and Iran with Obama.

Yeah, didn’t turn out so well.

And the Right, and especially their media, practically threw daggers at Obama for even broaching the idea of meeting people like that.

The Problem was, diplomacy doesn’t mean anything if it’s not backed up by military force, if countries like NK can see you are extending an olive branch in the one hand, but at the same time you have grenades in the other, it does give pause to people like Kim. The right wants the same the left wants but you need To always make sure that you have an option A and an option B as long as people like Kim know this, they will be more alert.

.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

My guess is that the sticking point will be Kim not wanting to give up his nukes, so maybe he agrees to everything but that. Going back to his father the main theme has been nukes = North Korean leader survival.

People don't hold your breath.

History tells us whatever the agreement the US won't keep it's end of the bargain.
