A real leader would accept diversity. Not worry about their kids growing up in a "racial jungle." You STILL call Trump a racist daily but refuse to acknowledge or apologize for your choice for President's horrendous racist history. 18% of voters for Trump thus far have been African American. One day, you may accept that ALL people can think for themselves no matter their skin pigment.
Bob Fosse
So, which is it?

I think the US is still safe, with the Senate is still looking in Repub control and HOR picked up some Repub seats. What I find interesting is the amount of new red on the map, with Florida and Texas mostly red. I wasnt expecting that at all, but many of the states Trump carried had small EV counts, with Biden carrying the Dem legacy of dysfunction New York, Chicago, and California. Thats indicative of a new and promising trend; states where population and economic growth are increasing are voting red, while poverty and dysfunctionals are still under Dem and MSM control. The divide is huge now in the US, and even with a Biden win, I cant see them getting anything done. Trump set a precedent, that will still be fresh in the voters mind. This isnt GWB2/Obama blowout, the divide is too thin. A Hilary win in 2016 might of resulted in the kind of acceptance and apathy we see in Japan, instead people voted got a change up with Trump. The system works. It is what it is, but I too find the last minute mail in ballot dump, suspicious. Even with a 24/7 4 year harassment campaign by MSM, impeachment and COVID, their results are disappointing. There will be lots of rejoicing and other Dem buffoonery, COVID will take a break, just like it did during the peaceful riots, MSM will give passes to all Dem blunders, followed by things going left, then in four years of Dem dismal but entertaining performances, its full circle to Pence (who is proving to be the better candidate, and should of run the first time). Hey I hope Im wrong, but whats to look forward too? Obama care 2? Green jobs? Maybe some foreign policy stablity, who knows. Anyways...the checks and balances are still in play.

What is really sad is that CONservatives like the failures Trump and Boris Johnson have doomed hundreds of thousands to death through not taking this pandemic seriously. Reckless and criminal conmen whose damage will be felt for decades.

Donald Trump has won nothing.
His policies are failures and his decisions are ridiculous.
The American populace stands up to tryanny of his sort.

So you call polls when only 70-80% of votes have been counted? I don't blame people who didn't vote.
why its simple math, each state knows how many registered voters there are if a candidate has a lead greater than how many votes remain to be counted then its clear the other candidate cant win, and the vote is called
gianfry
Sad. Democrats are winning. Now not only Europe but also the US are doomed.
Sneezy
There are already observers at the count, and everything is being recorded by camera. Trump's thugs trying to re-enact the Brooks Brothers Riots should be locked out and blacked out.
HonestDictator
Anything that may contain PRIVATE information being seen by individuals that have nothing to do with the process of tallying votes is definitely violating some law. Simply put, if you don't work for the election tallying process, you shouldn't be looking at it.
I hope this wraps up by tmr... this weekend by the latest. So much hypocrisy still fuming out from certain Trump fanatics, if he loses its because of fraud so he must stop the count... But if he wins but still tries to stop the counts that could possibly be in his favor it's ok. Yeah, I'm calling out straight up blatant facism right there.
Sneezy
Well, think of it this way. Without giving Georgia to Trump and with giving Nevada and Pennsylvania to Biden, who is winning?
That's just as valid (and just as dumb) as what you wrote. Just let the votes be counted.
Project Veritas is also literally a disinformation outfit whose founder planned to rape and blackmail someone.
SuperLib
We should be much, much further ahead on the counting in Pennsylvania but the GOP banned any counting of votes until election day. This was done on purpose. They saw 1.9 million Democrats requested mail-in ballots and only 760,000 Republicans did.
What that means is that votes just sat there until election day and now the counting starts. Since the results will take a long time to be counted the GOP gave Trump an open window of time to file a lawsuit to have the mail-in votes thrown out. A vast majority of Democratic votes thrown out, that is.
So what we are seeing is exactly what they intended. It was literally their plan.
The Supreme Court already voted on the legality of PA laws and it was a tie. The GOP went back to the Supreme Court a second time and they refused to hear the case. Now they are going back a 3rd time. If the SC suddenly reverses course after denying a hearing before the election and changing the law after the election there will be hell to pay. This is especially true since the SC has recently declined to get involved in other state lawsuits, instead leaving it up to state Supreme Courts.
Blacklabel
thanks, looking forward to those Nevada results. Also looking forward to hearing why they stopped reporting results once it appeared Trump was leaning towards taking the lead.

FYI updated totals for Nevada will be released at 9 AM tomorrow PST.

No matter who "wins", the whole "every vote counts" thing that the media keeps preaching to us is a bunch of bs. So you call polls when only 70-80% of votes have been counted? I don't blame people who didn't vote.
SuperLib
Not sure why you're going on about all of this. The race is far from over. Trump can still win.
Blacklabel
looking at the Nevada map, the remaining 25% should be 60/40 Trump based on the results that have already happened in those counties. thats a Nevada win, if so.

McCain dominated every election to the Senate he was ever in dating back to 1986. The closest anyone ever got was 12% with most of his wins being by 20% or more. He literally ran unopposed 3 times in the primaries.

all LEGAL ballots. same trick you guys use with immigration. All LEGAL immigration and all LEGAL ballots.
Just saw a video where a Postal service employee claimed ballots were backdated to the prior day in order to be counted. so this whistleblower claim can be investigated. right? Or you already "know" it didnt happen?

If Biden finally wins, it will be interesting to see the future in American politics.
Trump's election in 2016 was as the ultimate outsider. He was a big middle finger raised at the political insider class of both parties. This helped him beat Hillary Clinton. He was the result of decades of increasing calcification in Washington and a show of how much Americans were tired of all the "smart people" inside the Beltway.
Now if Biden wins, he is the ultimate insider. A complete Washington creation with decades in "the swamp". It's almost as if the American public threw their tantrum (in the form of electing Trump) and are going to give official Washington one more chance.
As for the future? At least this election looks more diverse, fewer incumbents re-elected compared to before, a growing cohort of military veterans is coming to congress from both parties ( a good thing IMHO). Now all we need are term limits and age limits and the world will be a better place.
voiceofokinawa
The world is watching the U.S. Presidential election intensely because it affects their life one way or the other. Watching a brash spat between the two candidates is more entertaining than a mediocre comedy on TV.
But U.S. voters should know that degrades America's fame as a true democratic leader.

From FiveThirtyEight:
"Fundamentally, the issue for Trump is that while Georgia projects to be very close and Arizona — at least in my view — projects to be very close, Biden is way ahead of the pace he needs to overtake Trump in Pennsylvania. If it were three toss-ups, that would be one thing, but Biden could wind up winning Pennsylvania fairly comfortably."
At the end of it all we could have a crazy situation where Arizona and Pennsylvania both switch.
Blacklabel
Arizona is going Trump by the end.
Nevada only losing by under 7000 with 25% left to be counted,.

Biden is leading heavily in many parts of Pennsylvania, such as Philadelphia, where there is still a large number of ballots left to be counted. Trump is still leading in less populated parts.
SuperLib
The good news there is that Trump did mostly everything through executive orders. If Biden wins, look for reversals on diverting funds to the wall, change to the immigration policy, etc.

Was just checking for curiosity... is it true that in many American states, you don't need ID to vote? Just checked Michigan, if you don't have ID you can just sign an affadavit and have your vote counted. If you do have ID, it doesn't have to show your address either. How does that even work? Anyone can go to any polling station in any congressional district and vote. Or am I missing something?
dctokyo2002
Republicans have a very good chance of hanging on to a bare majority in the Senate. This means any Biden agenda other than ruling through executive orders is basically out the window
Blacklabel
How do you know? The media told you it didn’t? Well now we are asking the court to look into those to get an honest answer one way or the other.

A few seconds ago, I checked CNN, Biden is gaining in Georgia and areas in which they are still counting ballots are large urban areas (BYE TRUMP) and so J. King said, as long as Biden holds Nevada, and Arizona, it is 270, with Trump getting the rest, coming out at 268.

Are main-in ballots allowed in your country? In the US I've mailed in ballots many times and never had a problem. It's Trump and his keyboard warriors (US and 'foreign') who've made it an issue, consistent with their other attacks on democracy.

How does a once in a century pandemic grab you?

I look at mail in ballots this way- would I put $100 in an envelope and trust the post office to deliver it safely and securel? If not, then why would I trust the post office with something infinitely more valuable- my vote?
Unless you have a valid reason (other than laziness or paranoia), you should vote in person. Now, in person voting should be extended, I would say even up to a week before the official election day. Otherwise, it is too easy for either party to claim abuse and illegitimate voting.

No, we're actualy waiting for the results to come in. And Biden has had the good sense to do the same. Trump and his followers of course haven't shown the same common sense, declaring victory when he was losing wasn't a good look.

Oh dear. The numeracy thing comes up again. Sad.

Another terrible set of choices in 2020 just like in 2016. But the media was the absolute worst. Even with Biden squeaking out a victory they lost all credibility by predicting a Biden landslide. Biden was up nearly 10 points in nationwide polls. Washington Post has Biden winning by 17 points! The media and big tech drug Biden over the finish line by every means they could come up with. You can say a lot of negative things about Trumps presidency but the absolute best thing he achieved was exposing the fraudulence of American journalism. They are more propagandists
Blacklabel
So can Biden just declare victory now? Good enough for most of you?

Funny, how Trump was against mail in ballots in Florida until he realized that older and conservative voters would use them. BUT, SERIOUSLY, conservative posters, this meme that mail ballots are evil, and corrupt is like beating a dead horse! Give it up! I FAXED in my vote! WHO cares how it was delivered!! You are just upset that these votes are going against your man, otherwise, you would be ALL FOR THEM! And the meme would be count the votes! Notice in Michigan the area that they are still counting is primarily BLACK so of course, Trump wants those votes NOT COUNTED! Conservatives are racists!

Also, I just checked and the current Michigan senate count is:
Peters: 2,683,325
James: 2,623, 738
(plus a little over 100,000 for various third party candidates).
Add up the numbers and it comes out to about 5.3 million, not 4.9 million.
Please move on to your next conspiracy theory, this one is BS.

Far cry from
Shame about the Senate, though. The partisan GOP will be on a vengeance kick for the next 4 years.

In fairness, that is mainly a result of the Electoral College system. If the US had a normal system for electing presidents like almost every other country with a presidential system, that is to say by popular vote, he would have walked away with it and it would have been called very early in his favor. Looks like he is going to win the popular vote by at least a 4-5% margin, it isn't a close race by that standard.
jack o helen
Looks like the gap in the Georgia vote is getting narrower. Trump now leads by a little more than 35,000 votes.
Wolfpack
That is the old way. The new way is fighting to the bitter end even after you lose - like the Dems did in 2016. If Biden wins, which it looks like he will through absentee voting, the Republicans would be smart to adjust their political tactics to the modern political battlefield. Replicate the Dems tactics of the last four years over the next four.
JJ Jetplane
That is unfair to say. Its more correct to say that almost half doesn't believe in Biden or the Democratic party. Doesn't necessarily mean they support Trump.

Ah_so
Trump only wants voting to stop in states where he is ahead in the voting. Where he is behind, he wants it to continue.

It's a blue... thing? It's embarrassing for the Democratic party how close this is. Biden looks set to scrape a victory against an incompetent buffoon who spent four years wrecking chaos, bowing the America's enemies, alienating America's allies, getting embroiled in scandal after scandal, with a secret Chinese bank account, and, oh yeah, bungled the reaction to Covid so badly that over a quarter of a million Americans are now dead.
It should be an easy win. You'd think a child could pull it off. But instead, it was a close run thing.
As the same time, even Fox News viewers said they were in favor of Medicare for All, higher taxes on the wealthy, more government intervention in the market and higher minimum wages. If the Democrats had nominated Bernie or Warren, they'd have crushed Trump. They need to listen to and cultivate their progressive wing. Or they'll lose again next time.

Where is the chaos?
bass4funk
Of course if Trump loses it’s a huge loss to the blue collar worker, love the guy, but if these ballots are true and we will know soon, there are a lot of uncounted ballots in many rural areas, areas where conservatives live who say there votes weren’t counted, if there needs to be a recount, then let it happen and have both parties be present to oversee the count and if they don’t then by all means the process should be scrutinized and if a recount was good for the Dems in 2000 then it’s good enough for the GOP. Either way, I’m happy was definitely more worried about the Senate, now that it’s out of the Dems reach I can still sleep good at night, so on that end, I’m very happy.
Attilathehungry
If things hash out that Joe Biden wins, congratulations to him and best of luck.
But so far, we have only learned the following;
a/ the only prognosticators who got the election right were the ones who predicted increasing mail ballots would result in chaos.
b/ the divide in the US is more urban/rural than was thought before, not necessarily black/white/hispanic
c/ people spend too much time worrying about politics
jack o helen
If in the end, Trump is defeated, then he should accept it gracefully (which I sincerely doubt is going to happen). If he somehow, through a slim chance, wins through litigation, it will leave a bad taste in everyone's mouth. It will be a win with an asterisk.
In any case, him complaining about the delay in counting mail-in ballots should be directed at the Republican legislators who delayed counting of the ballots because they voted against counting them early ahead of election day.
sunfunbun
Then you have no idea what your voice is talking about as your statement is contradictory to democracy.
SuperLib
Wow, Trump is only winning Pennsylvania by 200,000 now.
I gotcha. But from FiveThirtyEight:
"For instance, the party registration breakdown of the votes that came in Monday and Tuesday was: 23 percent Democratic, 44 percent Republican, and 33 percent independent or other parties. That is to say, a 21-point GOP edge, which would put Trump on track to tie things up."
Those are the votes they are counting now.
Like I said I think the Independents will give it to Biden but it's just not your typical scenario and I'll feel better if the next round of results hold up.
oldman_13
I just feel bad that Biden has to deal with McConnell and other repubs, can you say stalemate and no progress due to political bickering and animosities?

And click on Arizona on the map. Most of the uncounted votes are in the two most populous counties which contain Tucson and Phoenix. And Trump is sinking without a trace there.
Same with Nevada. Still plenty of votes to be counted in the large urban areas like Reno and Las Vegas. And Biden is sweeping up the votes there.
Having said that, it ain't over till it's over. Take nothing for granted. And you can bet the man-child will do anything to delegitimize the results. He knows he's going to jail once he leaves the White House.
SuperLib
That's the typical case, but Arizona has some odd metrics are in play. More of the late votes have been Republican, not Democrat. What's helping Biden is that Independents are voting for him and they represent a large 33% of voters. We will get an update on the voting in 90 minutes, then again at 12:30 AM AZ time. Still too close for FOX to call IMHO.
Surprisingly hopeful news for Biden fans is that the gap in Pennsylvania is being closed at a rate where the outstanding votes could give it to Biden.

I don't think anyone is gloating, I think it's pure relief that democracy still might survive over fascism in the USA.

Now even Trump and his acolytes can read the writing on the (blue) wall!
The Dems must now step up to the plate and restore the health of the republic which they themselves had a hand in compromising with their abandonment of blue-collar Americans and minorities.

Yes, this is why.
Where the votes are uncounted is why the declarations are made early. Late count votes are heavily democratic, this year because of the mail in ballots.

There is no system in place. The pandemic has offered multiple paths/means of ballot voting.
The methodology and resource to detect is fool’s errand. Authorities would still be wading through the extrapolations up until and past the next US election 2024.

Probably because what is left for counting are mail-in ballots. Those were ordered in a large majority by registered Democratic voters. AP already called AZ that during the middle of the night on that same basis.

As I wrote yesterday, Biden will be the 46th. Good riddance to the orang, his enablers. What a real idiocy of self, ego and division that has been finished by The People. An incumbent that FAILED. A loser. Bye!
Oxycodin
Do you really think Trump cares if he wins or loses? He will get all the PERKS of being former a president and enjoy his life unlike most of us including myself. Rejoice.

Viva Las Vegas! Nevada for the win.

And they will be throughly investigated. How would your country handle voting irregularities?

NV let's go!

So unpresidential!

What a disgraceful. dead-ender Potus, unpresidential to the very finish! Lock him up!
kurisupisu
There are irregularities in the voting and balloting process which have to be investigated!

Trump is "quite literally" NOT a dictator. He has every right, as does the other side to contest the election.
Geez, these comments.........
Haaa Nemui
Almost half. Yup.

Biden one more state out of four remaining, Trump needs all four. Trump's last stand to sue lie blame conspiracy lawyer up and waste everyone's time, much like the trolls here. There is no grace only spew
That's all they have now
quercetum
Pennsylvania is going Biden.
yakyak
He should and has every right to do so. Almost half of America supports Trump, that a pretty big chunk of the voting block. Has nothing to do with your like or dis-like of a particular candidate.
Ah_so
Having read yesterday's thread, where people prematurely called a victory for Trump, you may have a point. But the reversal of fortune that Trump needs now would be pretty miraculous.
Remember what people were saying yesterday?

Glad to see Trump making himself look like nothing more than a pathetically sore loser.
Kudos to Biden for not making an ass of himself by declaring victory before the count is done, but the math is pretty clear by now. Trump is toast.

Thank you!

Exactly. Regardless of what will happen next, you expect an incumbent President of the United States of America to show better behavior to the prospect of defeat. It is not the first time nor it will be the last time that an incumbent president is defeated. The way he came out to say that he won when the counting was nowhere near finished yet was already embarrassing, but his reaction to a losing situation is even worse.
Let the counting be done. The PEOPLE always decide.

@RealDonaldTrump twit:
This one could be stuck in the U bend for some time.

If it's not safe to send cash through the mail in the US, why would anybody think voting by mail would be in any way secure?
Haaa Nemui
Maybe that’s the “red wave” we’ve been hearing so much about.
Unamused
Trump is quite literally a dictator trying to pull a coup.
oldman_13
And Joe Biden with the comeback victory!
Give it up Trump, the American public resoundingly voted you out, losing both the popular and electoral vote.
Now is the time for our nation to start healing again.

Quoting this article as an example of voter fraud is as stupid, and frivolous, as Trump’s lawsuits. An article from September saying that NINE ballots, for both Trump and Biden, we’re found accidentally thrown in the trash. Ridiculous!
Just count the all ballots and declare the winner. If that’s Biden then it’s Biden, likewise if it’s Trump then it’s Trump.
Trump’s reaction to losing will be remembered for a very very long time as future generations look back at the worst president in history of the America.
Do the hustle
It’s a circus and not a very entertaining one.

Barr, McConnell etal have worked hard to appoint judges at all levels who they thought would favor their brand of authoritarianism.
Knock wood wherever these cases are heard the decisions will favor democracy.

Just over 12 hours ago, Trump supporters were jubilantly claiming victory for Trump.
Today I bathe in their tears.
After months of predicting a landslide for Trump, it is all coming down to a loss - a pretty small one for such a bad president, but it is time for him to start packing his bags.
I will have the popcorn out for the legal wrangles, but the attempts so far are so flimsy that there will be no real sport for the spectators.

Hi guys. As promised I’m back.
Tip of the hat to black and bass. It was a lot closer than I expected.
biden is on track to win by a lot less than I expected.

Just watching the press conference of greaseball Giuliani. He is on the verge of tears, acting like a 6 year old throwing a tantrum. Surely America is better than this?

When you can't win the right way, you do everything you can to steal it. I can't wait for this sleazy piece of **** to get booted out.

There have been reports of Bill and Ted using their time-phonebooth to sneak off with Trump ballots because he is impossibly more repulsive in the future. Not mentioned (of course) this side of the Rio Grande because the fifteen miles of fresh wall is just that amazing...
2020hindsights
As expected, when things don't go Trump's way, the lawyers come out as he has a hissy fit. It's not likely to help though, Pennsylvania has flipped without the votes from after the election day and recounts rarely succeed.
BurakuminDes
Trumps world and that of his sick family is starting to crumble. No candidate in US history has ever achieved more votes than Biden/Harris, and they have every right to be cautiously optimistic, so long as EVERY vote is counted.
As for Trump..."Lock him up, Lock him up, Lock him up!"
nonu6976
Biden just won Michigan - all he needs now is hold his lead in Nevada and is all over.
kurisupisu
Their have been reports of dumped and abandoned ballots not mentioned (of course) in the JT article (why not?)

AP have been extremely reliable so far. Trump is nearly finished.
Karma for 2000, fellas!

A desperate man flailing, fighting, finding something, anything, to hang onto to give him hope in his final moments.
It would be better to look away and ignore the sight.
It was good to see President-elect Biden behaving like a true gentleman.

Another undemocratic move by the farcical current occupant of the White House.
How much more damage is he going to inflict on the United States of America.
