However, questions remained over how much evidence the investigators could turn up at a consulate where a cleaning crew entered hours before their arrival

A cleaning crew after the Saudis had mopped up thorough. There will be no evidence found.

Trump's about to do another about-face. His self-deceiving supporters will follow suit.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump suggested without offering evidence that "rogue killers" may have slain Khashoggi, stepping further back from his pledge that Saudi Arabia would face "severe punishment" if it is found to be responsible for the columnist's yet-to-be-determined fate.

This coming on the heals of a news report stating that the Saudi's are going to admit that he died in a "botched" interrogation while attempting to detain him in the consulate to take him back to Saudi Arabia for further investigation and possibly trial.

They're claiming it was a "rogue" operation.

Funny that Trump used "rogue" as well. The representative of the good, hard-working, god-fearing Americans is assisting Saudi Arabia. Is Trump now part of the liberal Deep-State?

It’s not really that surprising is it?

First off Saudi Arabia is not a tolerant country-criminals are strung up from lampposts, hands are removed and people are still stoned.

Ever wondered why you can’t visit Saudi Arabia?

Ever wondered why you can’t visit Saudi Arab

ever wonder why you would even want to? probably the same reasons...what a horrible backwards country

6 ( +6 / -0 )

They're not going to find anything. Saudi Arabia will wait for this to die down and it will.

Right. Like "rouges" will charter two private jets, be allowed entrance to the consulate - and be allowed to leave with a Saudi citizen's body dismembered?

Anyone with common sense would know this was planned, and approved from the top. Except the US president, who childishly accepts the excuses of any dictator who supports him.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Yeah, the more authoritarian the leader is, the more Trump appeases.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

There's nowt "rogue" about this at all.

This backwards, women-hating nation, responsible for numerous acts of terror, wields immense financial power. Hence Trump tiptoeing around the savage murder that occurred in the consulate.

If Iran had carried out a state-sponsored murder of a Washington Post journalist in it's Ankara or Istanbul premises, have no doubt that Trump would be all over it like a rash. Proof or no proof.

Ever wondered why you can’t visit Saudi Arabia?

No, because you can visit Saudi Arabia.

Trump again - all bluster and bombast.

And cringeworthy in the least, was his statement saying he doesn't want to halt delivery of $110Billion (like what the...) of weapons to the Great Kingdom, as it may impact negatively on the US economy - read as "my buddies industries".

Toasted comments are spot on. If Iran for arguments sake had carried out a similar action - the WW3 button would be sweating.

Keep making LIARS, uncle Trump! Murder never look so good under your name!

The Saudis are funny, we killed him probably by accident, yeah, I had to read that line twice. As I had previously said before, our relationship with the Saudis is critical for a number of reasons, but at the same time, I do believe the President should do something, but even if he doesn’t congress probably will, this is one of the rare occasions where both sides are coming together on this, but the Saudis can’t take the relationship that we have with them for granted and threatening the US for wanting to possibly take action if they are responsible and for the Saudis to be enraged by that possibility defies all reasonable logic.

This just in from CNN-

Looks like the Saudis are coming clean. Yes he did die in the embassy during an "interrogation gone wrong"

The only reason you have given is that the US needs Saudi Arabia in the fight against fundamentalist Muslim terrorists. When it was pointed out that that reason fails logically, you doubled down on it.

And Trump's coddling of dictators continues. Who knows, Trump might even envy the way these dictators get away with snuffing out the lives of their critics & opponents. Why? Look at the way Trump has reacted to the way Putin has had Russian agents assassinate his opponents without a peep from Trump. It's quite chilling.

Trump does love the dictators.

Yes and that is a fundamental key part to the relationship.

So what was he supposed to do? This is something the left doesn't get. Russia is a nuke nation and you think we really want to escalate tensions on one individual? I get the point, but you have to separate yourself from the emotional part, now the time to have engaged Russia and justifiably so would have been when Putin went into Crimea.

Trump does love the dictators.*

As if the left have any room to make that comment when their leader swooned around so many of them.

Saudi Arabia produces and supports fundamentalist Islamic terrorists. Why would Saudi Arabia help fight what it creates? Can you see the logic failure yet?

So Trump shouldn't engage Putin because Russia has nukes, but Obama should have engaged Russia even though Russia had nukes when it invaded Crimea? More failure of logic.

As if the left have any room to make that comment when their leader swooned around so many of them.

Give us one example of any liberal leader swooning around a dictator the way Trump has swooned around Putin and Kim. Just one example.

Conservatives are hilarious. They want liberals to be held to a higher standard. When Trump acts in a repugnant manner, conservatives use the "other people have done it" defense. Ever hear that old saying two lefts don't make a wrong?

Nice excuse. He may be stupid, but he is quite smart.

When done at the Saudi Embassy, the word i’nterrogation’ takes on a new dimension.....

I’m the journalist just simply vaporized himself...

What consulate in the world would allow "rogue killers" thru their gates

(Such a consulate would be a joke and not be a safe haven for any of its citizens)

Seriously he can't believe anybody would buy that

Nice try to save the face of Saudis and keep intact the flow of Saudis' big bucks to the U.S. Money talks in Washington, right?
