This man is seriously deranged and/or perverse. He thinks press coverage that takes a questioning stance (which it always should) is a greater threat than a nuclear-armed North Korea.

Remember that Hitler, Stalin, and Mao similarly called the press "the enemy of the people". It's something dictators do. Trump is the first American president to ever do this.

This man is seriously deranged and/or perverse.

I think he's just made of such low mental caliber that his mind is still in it's infancy. With that comes the usual childish traits; frustration, rage, selfishness and sulkiness. America is on the 'simpleton' stage of its smart / simpleton /smart / simpleton Presidential cycle, should come back around again soon.

7 ( +16 / -9 )

Trump is damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. Like him or not the summit was a great step forward in terms of calming things down in the region which can only be a good thing. And as to those critical of him for sitting down to talk with Kim what alternative would you prefer?

-2 ( +17 / -19 )

Our Country's biggest enemy is the Fake News so easily promulgated by fools!

As usual, Trump gets it wrong. The problem is not the "news" (objective or biased statements backed up by data) but Tweets; and the fools are not those who promulgate (i.e., those who note what is going on and consider ramifications) but consumers who bite like a fish in a bucket, aka Trump supporters.

5 ( +15 / -10 )

looked like war would break out."

because 'looked like war would break out' was the message Trump was threatening, and which the media reported, in a wide variety of ways. One pole of the media said his message was somewhere between uber-hawk and flat out kook, the other pole cheered him on hoping for bombs to fall, and most of the rest of the media stayed in the gray areas, dealing with nuance.

Trump and his backers who want to have a state controlled media like Russia, China, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, North Korea and other authoritarian states have are among the 'biggest enemies' to what remains of US democracy.

Of course bias exists in media. Of course major corporations world wide have far too much control. But without a free, for-profit press, freedom - as some of us know it - is sunk.

3 ( +9 / -6 )

Why can't he be our (Canada's) Prime Minister?

-7 ( +7 / -14 )

And as to those critical of him for sitting down to talk with Kim what alternative would you prefer?

There has been very little criticism of Trump actually sitting down to talk with Kim. What is seriously problematic is Trump's claim that N.K. no longer poses a nuclear threat and his conceding military exercises with the South without getting anything except vague commitments from the other side. N.K. made similar promises in the past and did not keep them. This time the country has nukes and long-range missiles.

It is also pretty eyebrow-raising for a president to praise the ruthless dictator of N.K. as trustworthy while bashing the leaders of America's allies as being duplicitous.

There's nothing damned if he does, damned if he doesn't about these realities. Conscientious voices (including conservative ones) are articulating their concerns. The president is behaving like a petulant child in calling these people the country's greatest enemy. Shame on him. His behavior is absolutely disgraceful.

10 ( +16 / -6 )

He hasn’t been doing well lately.

7 ( +12 / -5 )

Not Fit for Office.

9 ( +15 / -6 )

The great irony of course is that he is saying this in an age where we have the greatest concentration of media ownership in history. All media are in the hands of the super wealthy.

In historical terms, the criticism Trump gets is minimal and political discourse in the US media is constrained to a narrow band of what the super wealthy consider is acceptable. Trump vs. the media is just another charade to distract the public while the super wealthy manipulate the levers of power against them.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

It isn’t the biggest enemy of the people. But it’s his biggest enemy.

And no, he isn’t closing down the free press. He’s just stating the obvious.

But, if people have been following the media for the last couple of years, they’d realize that they get everything about Trump wrong.

I’m amazed that journalists can get things so wrong and keep their jobs.

-5 ( +7 / -12 )

Trump's assertion that the North Korean nuclear problem is solved is quite strange given that North Korea has conceded nothing and retains control of a number of nuclear weapons. Is that Trump's idea of a "great deal"?

At the same time Trump argues that Iran is a huge threat, despite Iran having no nuclear weapons. Trump pulled out of the Iran deal claiming it was the "worst deal ever", even though it allowed independent inspections of Iranian nuclear sites that verified Iran's compliance.

I can't help feeling confused by Trump's words and actions. It seems that any deal Trump makes, no matter how superficial or worthless, is automatically "great", whereas any treaty or agreement concluded by anyone else is "terrible".

8 ( +11 / -3 )

you have media idiots yelling out nonsense during a contract signing to decrease the chance of nuclear war.

Thats the kind of thing we are talking about, not legitimate press or legitimate journalists.

-7 ( +10 / -17 )

“There has been very little criticism of Trump actually sitting down to talk with Kim.”

There certainly has been. Not sure what you’re watching and reading. But there definitely has been.

What is seriously problematic is .... and his conceding military exercises “

It’s not problematic. Many of the people on this site are against troops in Korea at all, and just go back and you’ll find lots of attacks over the exercises. And Trump hasn’t conceded anything. He is temporarily stopping exercises. He can do them anytime he wants. Let’s call it a “vague commitment” to use your expression. You can bet that if it’s proven that NK is lying and deceiving (and there’s a good chance they are), exercises will resume and sanctions will increase.

”N.K. made similar promises in the past and did not keep them.”

Yes, everyone knows this. Bill Clinton knows it - everyone knows it. But nobody has solved the problem yet - not CNN, not Clinton, not Obama, not any experts on TV and not anyone on this website.

I’m glad Trump and Pompeo and others are working on this. The Summit was a good start, after the months of sanctions that Trump succeeded in getting other countries to co-operate on. Which.....is why the Summit happened at all.

“It is also pretty eyebrow-raising for a president to praise the ruthless dictator of N.K. as trustworthy while bashing the leaders of America's allies as being duplicitous.”

No, it’s not. They are totally different situations. The allies you are talking about will always be allies. And if they are attacked American military will be there to fight and die for them. The relationship is totally different.

In this historic occasion, after months of belligerence, Trump sat down with a traditional enemy. It was time and right for words of peace and conciliation.

Canada and other countries will get over it.

Brothers, cousins, and friends will have words sometimes.

If you were expecting Trump to sit down to lunch and start berating Kim over his human rights record, you are not someone I’d want at the next Summit.

It was an initial meeting. Have patience.

-3 ( +6 / -9 )

The majority of Americans, who never voted for this clown, have my sympathies.

Enjoy what's left of your democracy while you can.

5 ( +12 / -7 )

@blackl Thats the kind of thing we are talking about, not legitimate press or legitimate journalists.

In the US there's still something akin to a free press. Most media outlets in the US are for-profit, what's typically found in capitalist systems.

The market decides what's 'legitimate'. The courts, as long as the current executive isn't allowed to further stifle them, will decide what's Constitutionally allowable.

Why do Trump and his backers continue to attack a free, for-profit press? Why do they continue to undermine basic elements of what's left of US democracy?

1 ( +6 / -5 )

Why can't he be our (Canada's) Prime Minister?

You guys need the fine Dr Peterson ;)

Unfortunately the guy is too smart to get caught up in politics. Hopefully the conservatives are smart enough to use him as adviser.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Yeah the media is a threat because they keep track of all his lies and highlight his misdeeds, if it wasn’t for the media he would have completely bankrupted the economy by now and deported half the US population including citizens who disagree with him.

2 ( +8 / -6 )

He will probably win this argument too.  not sure he is entirely right, but some of the clowns on CNN and Fox as well as some of the drivel written in the bigger papers does make one wonder sometimes.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

In trump logic it’s either Favorable news or Fake news.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

Yup, Kim jung U.N.? Great guy... great guy. Putin? Great guy... “something happened” and Russia was kicked out of the G8... they should be let back in. The media, though... EVIL!

5 ( +8 / -3 )

They’re certainly his enemy. Growth is at over 4%, unemployment is down, take-home pay is up, wages are rising. Tax revenue is up by 3% depite tax cuts (deficits would have fallen if spending hadn’t increased by 6%). The G7 meeting was a debacle, but blue-collar Americans are always happy to see someone “stick it” it to the suits in the G7. The meeting with North Korea went well. It appears that there will be no “blue wave” this November, and with the Mueller investigation chasing it’s tail, no chance of impeachment anytime soon.

All of this makes the media livid. With 90% negative coverage of Trump, they had hoped to turn public opinion against Trump long before November, but it appears few people bother to read or believe their headlines anymore.

Trump is ahead of where Obama was in the polls at this point in his first term, he’s even abead of Reagan. For those who don’t believe it, wait until November. Remember that Obama lost 85 seats in his first midterms. You can compare performance when the results come in.

1 ( +8 / -7 )

He keeps on slamming the media because he ain't MAN ENOUGH to take criticism of any kind. He is narcissistic and unfit for office. He's embarrassed that Stormy Daniels exposed his major character flaw - that he has a 'mama's boy' complex and that he loved getting SPANKED by her. He's also kidnapping migrant children, over 1500+ 'disappeared' last year and he doesn't want anyone to know it because he knows he's committing a crime. He keeps ranting about the media, that indicates that he wants censorship and cover-ups. He keeps vehemently denying his treason and election - that means that he is guilty.

1 ( +6 / -5 )

I very much agree that US is media is one of the nation's greatest enemy. They are closely connected to the military industrial complex and other corporations. The last thing they want is an informed public, all they do is peddle propaganda to sell war and other nonsense.

Why can't he be our (Canada's) Prime Minister?

You guys need the fine Dr Peterson ;)

Unfortunately the guy is too smart to get caught up in politics. Hopefully the conservatives are smart enough to use him as adviser.

YES!!!

Prof. JB Peterson is amazing. He too is often attacked by the media, but he handles it in a mature and intelligent manner. But I guess he'll be more effective out of politics.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

@sangetsu03

They’re certainly his enemy. Growth is at over 4%, unemployment is down, take-home pay is up, wages are rising. Tax revenue is up by 3% despite tax cuts (deficits would have fallen if spending hadn’t increased by 6%).

Yeah, thanks Pres. Obama.

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

I don't have a problem with the meeting. In fact, I think it's a pretty good first step.

What I have a problem with is the fact that Trump seems to be winging it. He makes decisions based on whims faulty information. What does he consider a "good deal," and how is NK is doing anything better than Iran? So far, not a whole lot. But I admit, that remains to be seen.

There's also the Republican inconsistency. Back when Obama was running for pres, he said he would be open to meet with any leader, including Russia and Kim. Back then, the Republicans scoffed or were outraged but look at them now...

6 ( +7 / -1 )

He might want to consider taking a few days off and resting.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

The media just makes up stuff every single day. Like Sarah Sanders is leaving at the end of the year. She says it (fake) news to her.

https://www.heraldsun.com.au/business/work/donald-trumps-white-house-press-secretary-sarah-sanders-to-leave-white-house-report/news-story/bb25229cfe9fbd7e91122ed59c79b567

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

The greatest enemy of the country is Trump.

He is consistently violating the oath of office to uphold the constitution, and the GoP is letting him get away with it. Human rights violations are just the most recent atrocity.

The press are calling him on it, so the press is his enemy. The need for a free press was firmly settled by the SCOTUS in its ruling over the Pentagon papers. Nixon hated that ruling, and Trump is even worse than Nixon.

A shame when you can't make everyone sign non-disclosure agreements, non-disclosure agreements are no even valid, and people have to tell the truth when responding to a subpoena. What is the point of being king if you can't rule like a king.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

It just started, and no one can admit right/wrong until the Peace Treaty will be signed between SK/NK with the witnesses of USA, China, Russia and Japan, the military confrontations among those countries are still there. The media can't blame only this summit DT/KJU without the presence of others countries concerned to go to next stages. The facts now, going on to the ideal, we need to find one word: Patience. And the better vision for peace action, is to those guys DT/KJU have their steady wills to next steps.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

And liberals are perfectly fine to have “journalists” sleep with sources so that they can put anti-trump classified information in the paper to gather praise for themselves.

Thats what’s wrong with all this. Journalists want to BE the news and use bias to tell us all how to think. Not just report it and let us decide ourselves.

-9 ( +3 / -12 )

@rawbeer They are closely connected to the military industrial complex and other corporations. T

That's true, and it's also true most media outlets provide information to the public, at least that percent of the public willing to read and accept other perspectives, that's critical of the 'military complex and other corporations'.

@rawbee The last thing they want is an informed public, all they do is peddle propaganda to sell war and other nonsense.

Some social media posters 'peddle propaganda' to push their perspectives; some of these posters are even paid to do so. I'd rather sort through the nonsense to make sense of things myself than have an authoritarian state controlled media like those found in Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and similar states tell me what their leaders want me to believe.

Interesting that the first dystopian future novel (Yevgeny Zamyatin's We) was written by a Russian, and one the book's themes was state controlled information. And some still are pushing for that.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Trump referenced a crackpot conspiracy theory he found in the National Enquirer to attack an opponent.

He clearly sees journalism in a way no poster here, Trump supporter or not, would dare to accept for understandable fear of being ridiculed.

This wailing, petulant spoiled brat needs to grow up.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Journalists want to BE the news and use bias to tell us all how to think. Not just report it and let us decide ourselves.

Yet Trump consistently lies to you and you accept his lies. He is the biggest propagator of lies, mistruths and 'fake news'. He cannot mention a number or figure without exaggerating or lying about it. You know this. He even claimed to have invented the word, 'fake'. You want the media to have higher standards, yet you don't demand that of the man you elected. If Trump continues to lie, then the media will examine his lies. It's always been like this, since when have the right become so thin-skinned and easily rattled? It's bizarre how conservatives have succumbed to Stockholm Syndrome in mere months.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

To be fair, if Obama had just done the Kim thing in Singapore, the same press would be gushing all over themselves to praise him.

0 ( +5 / -5 )

To be fair, if Obama had just done the Kim thing in Singapore, the same press would be gushing all over themselves to praise him.

I don't know about gushing, but there certainly wouldn't be questions about inconsistency, preparedness, and erratic unpredictability.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

That is because a) you have got a lot to hide; and b) you like the flag and the anthem, but NOT the Constitution.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

To be fair, if Obama had just done the Kim thing in Singapore, the same press would be gushing all over themselves to praise him.

The Punch and Judy media outlets would have reacted in predicatable ways. The likes of Fox News would be doing the same as what the anti-Trump outlets are doing now and probably seeing it as proof that Obama likes communists. Trump himself would be tweeting about it as more evidence that Obama is an anti-American Kenyan.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

But I'm sure he doesn't mean to include Fox news.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Anyone denigrating a free press is the epitome of un-American. Be it banal, thoughful, well-researched, biased, et hoc genus omne, the many-faceted and frequently distrubing thing that is a free press is at the heart of any democracy. Nixon may have hated the media... But what do you expect... He was Nixon. Moronic, un-American sentiment such as this coming from a president of the USA is disgusting and profoundly at odds with the belief that people can disagree on an issue but respect the right of all people to express their opinion, howeverso offensive. Voltaire, Jefferson, the lot spin in their graves. More than the PC-whining democrats and the truth-hating republicans, this president is yet again greatly contemptible for disparaging the media thusly. Hate parts of it if you want, but it is all of it the heart of American, not its enemy.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

And liberals are perfectly fine to have “journalists”...

...raise Trump's failures like the wall, Hillary arrest (she is at the top of Hannity's mafia bulletin board like Tony Soprano) but she is not arrested, betraying the US with the ZTE deal, no 3-5 millions arrests for voter fraud (maybe just actually 3-5), or no Obama arrest since he tapped Trump's phone- tapping phones is a crime. Trump also let Iran keep America's money (as reported by Hannity) that Obama "gave" him instead of demanding it back. Also, what happened to Trump's Muslim ban? And when is Trump going to get the 400$M that Obama gave Iran back? Then there is the debt of the USA. It's all Trump's fault.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

"There is no longer a Nuclear Threat from North Korea." (Donald Trump)

Trump is:

a. BS-ing.

b. in need of a thorough mental examination.

c. committing malpractice as president.

d. all of the above.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Really, I want to wait and see on this. His wall and Hillary arrest are failures (among many many). But if it takes a crazy person to deal with a crazy person and it works then good on Trump. And go ahead and open a bunch of Trump hotels there as a reward and give the Kim Jong Un family lots of royalties. A deal is a deal as long as there are no nukes!!

1 ( +2 / -1 )

So the media “fights trumps lies”by making up their own? That’s not why free speech exists or why the media has certain protections. things reported need to be true and also backed up with verifiable facts and not gotten by sleeping with sources .

-7 ( +3 / -10 )

None of you will admit that there was actually a risk of the whole summit getting screwed up when that CNN idiot started screaming out things 3 different times?

-8 ( +3 / -11 )

So the media “fights trumps lies”by making up their own?

Trump makes up his own lies ( he is capable of whole cloth fabrications ) but also references pure idiocy from trash tabloids and even retweets dodgy videos from known racist groups.

The very idea of Trump calling out ‘fake news’ while tweeting stupidity and rancid trash picked up from clowns and racists is a bit of a headscratcher as Trump could teach the anti-Trump media a masterclass in lies and distortions.

I think the lesson from this is not to trust the lies and distortions from the anti-Trump media and to treat 3am Twitter salvos from Trump’s toilet in the same way.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

So the media “fights trumps lies”by making up their own?

The failure of the Trump wall is not a lie. But when the news reports that Trump is an orange man with funky fake hair and teeth (which almost fell out during a speech and made him slur for a half second). It's technically not a lie either. Maybe not a nice comment, but not a lie either. Some people are interested in those physical attributes about Trump so it is newsworthy. Just like some people want Hillary arrested so Hannity covers it with his mafia like bulletin board with Hillary's picture pinned at the top- like in an FBI/mafia drama (really, watch Hannity and Friends, it's entertaining). But again, no nukes means no nukes and if Trump can deal and make that happen I'm all good with that. Trump can save the world many many times over. Then he can corner the hotel market in NK when their economy grows stronger.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

The entire conservative media bubble was always meant to be a propaganda machine from the very start. Maybe there were some originally who just wanted to give a conservative viewpoint, but that built an audience of people who only wanted to hear pro conservative news, which lead to an entire ecosystem built on telling news of the way conservatives wish the World worked. Their audience now actively rejects reality.

Fox News (owned by the Australian Rupert Murdoch) should join Russia Today as a registered foreign agent operating on American soil. This should be the 2021 U.S. Congress' first priority.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

when that CNN idiot started screaming out things 3 different times?

What did he scream out, exactly? How did it almost cause a nuclear war? I mean if that almost caused a war then the war would happen anyway and Trump is very weak. Was Kim Jong Un there?

2 ( +4 / -2 )

another day another lower rung those that follow him go down and down.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

That’s my point. If the media were honest you wouldn’t have to ask me what he did it said. He said it’s his “right” as the free press to yell out any question he wants during sensitive negotiations.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

wouldn’t have to ask me what he did it said.

Please rephrase this part, thanks

during sensitive negotiations.

These happen during closed doors and no Hannity or CNN.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

It was on every channel that televised the event. If you saw it on BBC you heard him. Japanese TV you heard him too.

you could hear the idiot screaming as they walked by and when they were signing the documents. It wasn’t just CNN, he was there on site screaming inappropriate questions.

-6 ( +3 / -9 )

So the media “fights trumps lies”by making up their own?

Good on you for admitting Trump lies a lot. Why doesn't that bother?

That’s not why free speech exists or why the media has certain protections. things reported need to be true and also backed up with verifiable facts and not gotten by sleeping with sources .

Wait a minute, Donny's affair with Stormy Daniels is no one's business, but who a journalist sleeps with is?Not at all hypocritical. Does having a relationship with the source (no idea what you are talking about specifically) make the information any less true?

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Watching the "summit" I clearly saw the puppet that Donald Trump is to Putin and the Kremlin. They are parading their wrecking ball around the world stage with pride. I can imagine the laughing and knee slapping that must be going on in the Kremlin at times like this. How did Donald Trump get himself into this mess? Can anyone stop it before the USA is completely lost?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

in other news, tRump's personal lawyer Michael Cohen appears to be close to a cooperation agreement with federal investigators/prosecutors in exchange for leniency regarding the numerous charges he's facing. tRump and Hannity may want to shut up.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Here you go. Just one of the 3 times he interrupted the negotiations, the breaks between and the signing.

you guys would be mad as hell if someone from Fox News had interrupted obama like that with inflammatory questions during a ceremony.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mBGR66gH8Uw

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Freedom of the press is required to allow freedom of the people.

In all honesty the greatest threat to America and its people at this point, is President Donald J Trump.

The greatest source of fake news comes from Trump and his lackeys.

Talk of Trump being nominated for a Nobel Peace prize for what were Chairman Kim's initiatives and Kims achievements, while coming from Norwegian scholars, is a joke beyond belief. Give the Nobel to they guy who earned it, not to Trump.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Well I sent you a video. His stupid questions were antagonistic and intended to cause trouble. They could have ruined the whole summit but instead Trump just used him as an example of the fake media in front of everyone.

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

It was on every channel that televised the event.

I don't watch TV news. Please transcribe it here so we can all debate about it.

Every article says Cohen “may”, “might” or “will likely” cooperate

Hannity always says the wall is being built and Mexico will pay for it. FAIL. And where is Hillary's arrest?

Just one of the 3 times he interrupted the negotiations

He interrupted Trump's and Kum Jong Un's direct negotiation? That's bad. He really interrupted these two leaders in the middle of their dialogue? Then that means that CNN almost started WWIII True? Yes?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Well I sent you a video. His stupid questions were antagonistic and intended to cause trouble. They could have ruined the whole summit but instead Trump just used him as an example of the fake media in front of everyone.

You're listening to the wrong people if you believe questions from a reporter could ruin the summit.

The president's own National Security Advisor almost ruined the summit for real with his comparison of NK to Libya. Did you complain then?

4 ( +5 / -1 )

@Blacklabel

Do you see Trump’s fondness for referencing conspiracy trash from tabloids, retweeting dodgy racist videos and quoting from media biased in his favour as a problem in the same way the anti-Trump media is a problem?

It’s just that Trump emphasizes the word ‘fake’ so often. It seems truth is the issue.

I like the idea of consistency. I don’t expect anyone to be completely free of hypocrisy but Trump’s whoppers are titanic.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Why can't he be our (Canada's) Prime Minister?

Why can't the guy who just declared a trade war on Canada be Canada's Prime Minister? Seriously?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Trump tags U.S. media as nation's 'biggest enemy' after summit

No Mr Trump, the "biggest enemy" to our nation is you and your fellow Authoritarian Dictator and informal Campaign Chairman, Vlad the Great. You conspire with this despot to poison the minds of your fellow Americans with Russian authored conspiracy theories, offer race-baiting epithets to energize the dark, far-fringes of society, continually and consistently lie to the American people, and attempt to character assassinate a former Marine veteran, career civil servant, and life-long Republican who was selected to investigate your multitude of crimes.

That, and the subversion of honesty and common decency that you have brought to our nation's discourse.

Stalin, Mao, McCarthy, Nixon - none of these have been as great a threat to our democracy as you.

But the reckoning is coming - Robert Mueller will soon lay out a series of facts that even your most ardent supporters won't be able to spin as a "deep state witch hunt". Paul Manafort, Michael Cohen, and many more of your former trusted agents will lay bare your treason, collusion, obstruction, money-grabbing, and who knows what else.  Then the American people will speak clearly in one voice: You're Fired!.....

2 ( +3 / -1 )

The guy has been arrested

The New York Times reporter?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Yes he did that. Look at the video.

So he made Trump and Kim stop talking. What was this reporter doing in the middle of their sensitive negotiations. If the CNN reporter was there then it's Trump's fault. And their negotiations should be secret, not not televised.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Michael Cohen's lawyers are abandoning him, he's about to be arrested by federal investigators and is expected to co-operate; so President Pørno McCharlatan lashes out at the media. The noose is tightening, slowly but surely.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Critics say that his agreement with the North lacks specific restraints on Kim's government and that he offered to end joint military exercises with South Korea with little in return.

Far less critics than people who support Trump. Look at the polls

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

You only have to watch US Media such as CNN to see how Biased it is, one way or the other... and as there are only 2 ways... it's certainly going to be biased in the view of Trump. US Media also submits to the pressure of their owners, and is clearly obvious when you watch CNN.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

@rawbeer They are closely connected to the military industrial complex and other corporations. T

That's true, and it's also true most media outlets provide information to the public, at least that percent of the public willing to read and accept other perspectives, that's critical of the 'military complex and other corporations'.

Nah, the MSM pushes for war. MSM and MIC have many shared board members. Both the MSM and MIC profit from war. That is why people like Phil Donahue, despite their very high ratings, were fired.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

@rawbee Nah, the MSM pushes for war. MSM and MIC have many shared board members. Both the MSM and MIC profit from war.

The 'western' free press allows posters, even those paid by a non-'western' government to post messages on their sites. You should be grateful for that; it keeps you in a job.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

CNNs 'civerage' of the summut was despicable.

The 'reporters' looked like a clown show in their desperate attempts to make trump look bad.

Did you see the CNN guy who interviewed Rodman? He looked strucjen when he realized Rodman was wearing a 'make America great again' cap. And Rodmans support of trump and the summit. And thats just one tiny example.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

he looked stricken, that is.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

And thats just one tiny example.

How about just one massive example instead? Such as one that really highlights that their coverage was more 'despicable' than simply looking stricken?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

“but Trump’s whoppers are titanic.”

When he tells the story of how he landed in Singapore under sniper fire I’ll accept that.

Until then, he’s just a regular ship hand compared to Captain Hillary

0 ( +1 / -1 )

To be fair, if Obama had just done the Kim thing in Singapore, the same press would be gushing all over themselves to praise him.

Dumb assumption. Obama wouldn't have 'done the Kim thing' on equal terms and calling Kim 'a talented man', ' a great leader of his people' or ' a good negotiator' :)

3 ( +3 / -0 )

The 'reporters' looked like a clown show in their desperate attempts to make trump look bad.

Wrong observation. The reporters were part of a clown show and your messiah was the Lead Clown :)

The next time the media here in America reports on President Trump accurately will be the first time.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Good for Trump! It's about time someone has the guts to call a Spade a Spade and let the chips fall where they may. The trouble with the media is they lack checks and balances and accountability.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Didn’t Trump and Fox team up to present a narrative that Obama wasn’t born in America? Now a massaive number of Trump supporters believe that, even some people here who are whining about how unfair the media is to Trump.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Didn't Hillary and the legacy media team up to paint Trump as a racist?

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

Oh I've known Trump was racist since I learned he was sued for discrimination against blacks in housing.

Not that it would bother his fans.

How so? And how is it, you so conveniently gloss over racist Democrats and their policies? I don’t get that.

Not that it would bother his fans.

Maybe because they realized that lie is just not working, even though the left try their best to peddle that garbage and especially judging by the polls.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

A lie? Its not a lie that Trump was sued and lost for his discrimination. We can thank the media for digging it up.

And aren't you also a birther, too? Trump went on national TV with Fox giving him a platform to spread his lie. Have you seen the % of Trump fans who still believe it?

How about Trump's interviews with InfoWars? He really likes that lie peddler. Hannity, too. I believe he's the only one at Fox still peddling the Seth Rich lie, even after they retracted their story.

So what is Trump really upset about? The fact that he wants to spread more lies and the media fact checks him?

Oh my...

Mainstream media already pessimistic about North Korea summit?

That was in the 1970s. Yet somehow Trump was never identified as a “racist” until he announced he was running for president as a Republican. Maybe you should have told someone what you knew long ago.

Oh I've known Trump was racist since I learned he was sued for discrimination against blacks in housing

Just over a year ago Kim Jong Un had his brother Jong Nam assassinated with a VX nerve agent next door in Malaysia. The press has generously overlooked this as Trump and Kim sat down together in Singapore. Trump owes them one.

The action-movie style trailer Trump says he played to Kim Jong-un

Obama went after the press all the time and of course his cheerleaders in the mainstream media never considered his attacks a threat to Democracy. The reason? Obama attacked those in the press who were opposed to his politics (ie Fox, talk radio, and other branches of Hillary’s vast right wing conspiracy). The difference between Trump and Obama is that Trump has more legitimate targets of biased media because the Left still dominates the news media as they have since the 1950’s. I would also add that Trump personalizes his attacks on individuals much more than Obama did when he went after Hannity and Limbaugh by name.

And no they Left cannot complain over whataboutism because Obama also attacked the press - by name - and even had his Justice Department put journalists in jail.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

PTownsend: Of course bias exists in media. Of course major corporations world wide have far too much control. But without a free, for-profit press, freedom - as some of us know it - is sunk.

Much of the media is made up of major corporations. I see no reason to believe they are any less self interested than any other corporation just because one might agree with their politics.

The Washington Post didn’t put their ‘Democracy Dies in Darkness’ tag line on their website when Obama was throwing journalists in jail - they agreed with his politics.

Trump isn’t keeping any media outlets from trashing him day and day out. He is using his right to free speech to criticize an institution that believes it is above criticism. I’m sorry but that’s not how it works in a truly free society. The Leftist press needs to grow a thicker skin and try better to live up to its stated beliefs that it is concerned with objective truth.

What is most ironic is that Trumps outrageousness only exposes the media more for being politically biased. Many in the media have openly expressed that they will not objectively cover Trumps administration. That was a huge mistake but it does make it clear to the public that modern journalists are not interested in objectivity and standards.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

The IG report just came out. No evidence of any improper decisions or actions based on any political bias.

The end.

And as to those critical of him for sitting down to talk with Kim what alternative would you prefer? but thats just it, its only talk, but what is fact is the murderous dictator Kim is now treated as a legitimate world leader demanding of respect, his nukes will be far from free and the coming investment mostly Chinese will far outweigh the costs of his nukes, he will be able to continue to rule over NK with democratic elections highly unlikely. So if I was keeping score id say Kim has a 3-0 advantage so far. Seems like Kim should be labeled the master deal-maker. Also shows that acquiring nukes will make your country a legitimate world power commanding respect and acceptance, next up Iran.

@serran lol Fox news runs on conspiracy theories , counter-narratives and whataboutism unfortunately you need proof thats your insinuations are fact otherwise it just pure propaganda. funny thing even comedian John Oliver has 4x as many subscribers than a large entity like Fox News LOL

How about a permanent vacation? Place that immature spanky boy in a corner where can pick his nose, suck his thumb, sulk, cry and babble to himself while the rest of the world will do fine without him. He's a sociopathic brat, not even worth talking to because he's a grossly uncouth little snot who always spoils a bash or a party. He is good for nothing. He ain't man enough to take any criticism so he slams them like the little juvenile crybaby that he is. Wah, Douchebag Donny, wah.  He's just a stinky fascist boy-child who never grew up. Pathetic.

Okay, there have been 108 comments before me, so I'm not going to go through them all. Obviously some other posters MUST have said the obvious thing that any half sane, intelligent person knows: " No, Mr P. Grabbing Sc b_ g -in- Chief, YOU are the problem. You are the nation's worst enemy. You are worse than that. You are the kind of sli_eba_l (take your time working on that little puzzle, Trump supporters, you'll get it eventually) that can make kids give up on the hope of a bright future." American dream...over and out. Which translates to the world stage, sadly (by toxic contamination). The nightmare is real... yes, this person really is in the White House.

That 'summit' with Kim was a front anyway, nothing was accomplished. Glasnost --  Reagan + Gorbachev this ain't. Donny Douchebag is just being a narcisstic crybaby again. Besides, he's kidnapping migrant children as we speak, showing his true colors of fascism.
