The guy in the title of this article is doing everything in his power to dismantle government services and reduce the taxes of the richest people in America.

do americans pay tax?

Americans do pay taxes, just a disporportionate amount of taxes goes to things like building bombs and invading countries

That must have been painful, to make the first charitable donation of his life!

Let's save this comment until he actually makes it. Trump has a bit of a habit of promising people money to look generous and then not exactly following through.

And also donating other people's money. And also ripping off charities.

Yep even a charitable donation gets this treatment. This is a nice gesture, accept it and move on.

Like I said - I'll do that when he actually coughs up the money. Anyone can say they're going to donate a million dollars.

10 ( +15 / -5 )

Well, this should show up on his tax returns so we'll know if he actually donated it.

Oh, hang on...

12 ( +15 / -3 )

We can follow up with Trump in a couple of weeks and Im sure he will show you a copy of the check, just like he did with his Presidential salary that he donated.

So you don't mind the Silicon geeks and the Hollywood nut jobs paying a lot more?

The mods here have a tendency to delete any post accusing another poster of being a liar, though since they enable far-right rabble-rousing maybe you'll escape their wrath. It won't make you correct, however.

You are joking, right? Lol

-11 ( +2 / -13 )

Yeah lets stick to the facts. Trump announced he will donate 1 million dollars. He asked the press corps to recommend to him where the donation should go. I am sure the press will follow up daily to ensure the donation is made and I am sure it will be announced which organization(s) the money went to. Anyone interested can then follow up with those organizations, and that along with the press corps verification will prove the donations.

The point to me is that people in need will be getting 1 million dollars, which is a thoughtful gesture just like everyone else who is doing the same. I didnt call those people liars, I take them at their word that they will do what they announced, just like the President.

Unfortunately, no matter what Trump does, some people will criticize his actions. They are so filled with hate.

Has he accepted Mexican aid donations yet?

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Toasted Heretic - Has he accepted Mexican aid donations yet?

Are Mexicans actually sending aid donations to Trump? Wouldn't Mexicans send aid donations to organizations such as the Red Cross? Maybe you're thinking of campaign contributions?

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Nobody mentioning that he wants to cut 600 millions from FEMA's budget ?

7 ( +8 / -1 )

From what i heard last night, Mexico has offered to help in any way they can and we should be grateful for that. That assistance will need to be coordinated with FEMA and the State Department to see how they can help in areas that Texas might need it. It didnt seem to be any type of monetary donations, but more of a working capacity like they did in 2005 with their Army providing meals, security and shelter to border town residents.

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-41107619

On Sunday Mexico offered vehicles, boats, supplies and food, reports said.

Mexican Red Cross volunteers have also travelled to the flooded city of Houston.

President Trump has not yet commented but Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has thanked the Mexicans.

...its government has suggested a similar mission to that sent to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, when 200 Mexican troops brought food, water and medicine.

A separate convoy of 33 English-speaking Mexican Red Cross volunteers left for Texas to work in Houston shelters.

Good on him... you know, after all the other celebs have already done it and gotten a back-patting.

Trump announced he will donate 1 million dollars.

What is so great about this? Bill Gates just donated 5 BILLION.

Mexico has offered to help

Mexico will not pay for the wall.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

What is so great about this? Bill Gates just donated 5 BILLION.

so it's only good if it's the best or most?

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Bill Gates didnt donate 5 billion to Harvey relief, he sold almost 5 billion worth of stock to fund his own Foundation. Now he does do a lot of wonderful things with his money, but to equate it to a 5 billion dollar donation to the hurricane relief is inaccurate.

No one equated it to donating $5 billion to charity. What specifically do you find inaccurate about Gates donating $5 billion dollars?

4 ( +5 / -1 )

so it's only good if it's the best or most?

To help rebuild communities and people's lives?

A hypothetical $1 million. Or a hypothetical $1 billion.

Both are good but the latter is best.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

It is from Trump who 90% of people on here hate. If he showed up though at their door and gave $1 million, he would be their new best friend.

The disingenuous part where it is used as a reply to mock Trump's donation of 1 million to Harvey disaster relief by saying 'well Bill Gates gave 5 billion' (without mentioning but not to disaster relief). That is equating it as well in excess of Trump's donation (look, 5 BILLION dollars!) when it is actual $0, as it relates to the disaster.

Yeah, celebrities seemed to have no problem lining up down the block to attend his parties when he was just a famous, rich, non-racist fun guy. You know, back in the good old days long ago in 2015.

I think people here would still hate Trump if he showed up at their house with 1 million. I have no idea why, but the hate is strong to the point of obsession here.

You think? I would have thought the worship of money here is strong to the point of obsession here.

Money can't buy integrity or principles.

I certainly don't want his money.

As for the hate thing? Yeah, I wonder why anyone would have problems with a racist, lying, elitist sexual predator...

I think people here would still hate Trump if he showed up at their house with 1 million.

No. I would instantly love him.

I'm shallow and stupid like that.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

As for the hate thing? Yeah, I wonder why anyone would have problems with a racist, lying, elitist sexual predator...

Prior to winning the election and especially prior to announcing his candidacy, he was not known as any of those things.

He wasnt racist, he had lots of friends who were of color. He put Jennifer Hudson up in Trump Tower at no cost after her family tragedy, among other things.

He didnt lie, he just kind of overhyped things. Things like TV ratings and how popular he was and how much money he had and such. All part of an 'image' of success.

He wasnt elitist, he was just rich. No one ever complained, he let gays and minorities into his resort in Florida when others in the area wouldnt.

He wasnt a sexual predator, he was just liked by lots of women because he was rich and famous. No one ever had a bad thing to say about him or that he inappropriately touched them.

Amazing how winning an election changed his entire 'being' at the age of 70 somehow.

One million what? Roubles?

Amazing how loyalty allows for revisionism, turning a blind eye, believing in alternative facts and making excuses for the inexcusable.

as for

No one ever had a bad thing to say about him or that he inappropriately touched them.

You've got to be kidding, right? The rape allegations, one from his ex (later dropped in murky circumstances), the alleged dressing room incidents, the teenage allegations?

I guess they were all fabricated by lots of women because he was rich and famous.

Ugh.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

One million what? Roubles?

Thats cute. What, 15 months now of nothing related to Trump himself or proven Russia collusion? You might have missed it during the 'everyone is a Nazi' week, but the Russian hacking of the DNC was quietly disproven and has not been spoken of since.

But ok, sure. I think I would be more worried about our homey Comey right now than anyone else though.

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

You've got to be kidding, right? The rape allegations, one from his ex (later dropped in murky circumstances), the alleged dressing room incidents, the teenage allegations?

None of which we ever even heard of before 2015 and none of which have been proven true or that are even actively being looked into. Thus your use of the word 'allegations' or 'alleged' three times in one sentence to describe things that were brought up to try to do political damage once he became a candidate.

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

Thats cute. What, 15 months now of nothing related to Trump himself or proven Russia collusion?

And how long do federal investigations take? Hint: A lot longer than 15 months.

You know its not over. You know Donny Jr. is getting deposed right? And, how about Trump's lawyer contacting Russian officials during the campaign. Its all very cute. :D

Good on him... you know, after all the other celebs have already done it and gotten a back-patting.

At least finally they're doing something noble for a change.

The use of the word "allegations" or "alleged" in relation to Trump are to cover my cute behind and that of the organ that publishes my comment.

None of which we ever even heard of before 2015

Really? "We" heard about it back in the 90s.

You know its not over. You know Donny Jr. is getting deposed right? And, how about Trump's lawyer contacting Russian officials during the campaign. Its all very cute. :D

Its over, you just dont know it yet. We were promised treason and collusion and collaboration between Trump, his campaign and Russians. We were told these things were not only known by Trump himself, but requested. We were told of hacking and known methods of Russian influence that directly led to Trump being elected. All 17 intelligence agencies supposedly guaranteed us this hacking occurred but now it simply didnt, with no further explanations.

Now all we get is Trump's son having a 10 minute meeting unrelated to the campaign and a lawyer who emailed someone about a business deal in late 2015 and never got a reply. Throw in some Manafort business deals that have nothing to do with Trump either and thats about it. Meanwhile Awan going on trial tomorrow and Comey the homey is in quite a pickle. Seems he was fired for incompetency and not doing his job after all.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

What, 15 months now of nothing related to Trump himself or proven Russia collusion?

No, nothing at all. Remotely.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/aug/31/trump-russia-inquiry-paul-manafort-felix-sater

*Early in the presidential campaign, Trump signed a non-binding letter of intent to build a tower in Moscow, his lawyer, Michael Cohen, confirmed in a statement to ABC News. This despite Trump’s claiming during the campaign that he “knows nothing about Russia”, has “no loans” and “no deals” there.*

Felix Sater: I arranged for Ivanka to sit in Putin’s private chair at his desk and office in the Kremlin. I will get Putin on this program and we will get Donald elected. We both know no one else knows how to pull this off without stupidity or greed getting in the way. I know how to play it and we will get this done. Buddy our boy can become President of the USA and we can engineer it. I will get all of Putins team to buy in on this, I will manage this process.

So in other words, we don't need to give an accused person the benefit of a doubt. Just convict them. I am so happy liberals are not in power, if this keeps up they will one day get rid of our Maranda Rights. If the left can get rid of some statues No one cared about a year ago, then they could give our basic and fundamental rights away as well.

Scary!

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Its over, you just dont know it yet.

Keep telling yourself that, kid.

Like Don da con says, "I love the poorly educated."

Too cute :D

I am simply proud that our President has announced to donate 1 million dollars to the relief effort. That is setting a correct example for others to follow.
