I'm ok supporting the Philippines as long as this Philippine President doesn't turn into a second version of his father or a repeat of his immediate predecessor. Time will tell what kind of President he turns out to be. I have a fondness for the Philippines and understand the geostrategic significance of having US forces there, but object to the US supporting dictators and human rights abusers (and before you say it I have strong objections to US forces supporting Arab dictators considering Saudi Arabia to be no better than Iran and as much of an enemy of the US).
