The media reports the Taliban hates ISIS.

The media also reports the Taliban released all the ISIS fighters from prison.

strange way to treat someone you hate. More likely that now they owe you a “favor”.

What a total fiasco !

Why would Biden order an execution drone strike with his own US citizens still trapped there within easy reach of the terrorists? Guess whats going to happen now as Isis k are very willing to die. This political optic was very poorly timed one has to really question the leadership in that administration.

Im not sure what to think about this. Does it help or provoke? Im distrustful of the current top military commanders (not the soldiers on the ground). I never thought I would be thinking this way, but was the targeted individual even an ISIS member/actor, or was this operation for show?

The speed with which the U.S. military retaliated reflected its close monitoring of IS

not close enough evidently, to judge by the Kabul airport attack

Good.

The ISIS-K needs to be wiped out.

So means already knew about this person and could have prevented the deaths. Or this person is a manufactured distraction.

It wasn’t clear if the targeted individual was involved directly in the Thursday suicide blast

Im sure there will now be no shortage of Afghans so crucial to gathering the intelligence necessary for the operations Biden has in mind now. They know they can trust his promises to take care of them and abandon them.

All top US military command should resign. They are danger to themselves.

U.S. officialsin Kabul, under orders from President Biden, gave the Taliban a list of names of American citizens, green card holders and Afghan allies to grant entry into the militant-controlled outer perimeter of the city’s airport.

What a handy hit list.

You couldnt make this stuff up!

I feel that 48 hours response was not quite as swift as needed.

Better contingency planning and neither the bombing or the drone strike would have bin necessary.

Perhaps it was an unavoidable situation and iam not being educated as to the real situation due to the information provided by the media.

Either way i hope the situation improves and the unnecessary loss of innocent lives ceases.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Oh suuuuure they were.

The Taliban were the target.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

Or we just blew up a person who planned an attack against our enemy, ISIS.

none of these scenarios end well for Biden. or take the blood out Biden’s hands for the death of our troops and Afghan civilians.

now we just find out who retaliates while are sitting ducks at the airport surrounded by innocent civilians.

@Blacklable.

Purely speculative but as it is a war crime to kill someone you have in prison. By releasing your enemy you can then shoot them as an act of war/policing or a bit of both. Maybe they are just fans of the most dangeorous game.

If the present guy can cancel 120 ordinance of the former president in a day ( right after sworn in ) then why he can not make any decision since house and senate is under his belly.???

pssst... we mustnt ask that question...

The Pentagon also insists this so-called “over the horizon” capability, which includes surveillance and strike aircraft based in the Persian Gulf area, will be effective.

“Over the rainbow” more correctly.

Article says so, take it up with the writer.

LoL totally. Tell me, what do you think the Taliban has to gain by ordering some suicide bombings?

0 ( +2 / -2 )

What was the terrifying dark place in the mind of the suicide bomber that motivated him/her to cause so much suffering to so many innocent people is the most important question that may never be answered. Wars cause traumas we who live in peaceful societies cannot imagine.

Regarding the timing of the revenge attack, I can imagine how another country might have announced, "We will choose the time and place for what is to come".

The GOP however is searching for ISIS-X, because that’s what their dear leader believes is the organization behind the attacks.

Don’t expect any bright ideas from this ignorant lot!

-3 ( +7 / -10 )

The former president released 5000 taliban from prison, this included people who switched over to ISIS.

Half baked, mostly ignorant policies of the former guy, the one who wanted taliban to nominate him for the Nobel prize, has led us here.

During his term, Trump increased the number of drone attacks but they are very limited in the current situation without boots on the ground.

Even though the response was a good sign, it’s still not going to help Biden or absolve him from this tragic catastrophe. But it’s something.

Good, finally.
