Thank you America, and Trump too.
This made me laugh. He has a sense of humor.

So, I applaud good intentions and all of that.
However, it is worth pointing out that the U.S. has a huge budget deficit, much of it funded by China (and Japan).
So, in this case, the U.S. is basically borrowing money from China so that it can turn around and give money to China.
Right?

Pence told Fox Business Network that the threat to the United States from the virus remained low and praised China for demonstrating “an unprecedented level of transparency” over the outbreak.
Yeah, they weren't too transparent about it in the beginning. Pence is quite the diplomat.
$100 million ( taxpayer money )
Hey, we only got a $22 trillion, whoa, just checked usdebtclock.org, $23 trillion national debt, with another million being added every 33 seconds. So what's another $100 million, it's just another 55 minutes on the debt clock.

The funding would go to the WHO and not directly to China.

Nearly all foreign aid flows through American institutions.
This is a good move to fight the virus over there instead of over here.

This is the difference between Obama and Trump administration. If there is a need then help and support unconditionally. This is a way true leader does.
Soon the left and the Antifa ( soros) led democrats would say this way " Trump paid $100 million to put dirt on Biden's son, Nancy's Son, Kerry's son, Schiff's daughter whole whose who China earning millions for boarding and directing some companies.. SOON you will hear it .. This is an abuse of power.. We need to impeach him. ha.. or I will eat all his speeches... can not wait... OH NANCY my little girl..

This is not and should never be a political issue. We are all in this together and while we know China hasn’t done its best, we can’t go badmouthing them, this is a very sensitive moment, we all don’t want this thing to expand and spread further so if Washington can help, they should and China should take that offer.
On a different note....I had no idea Chinese people eat “Pangolin.” I mean...come on....

Hey Serrano isnt that the debt that Trump said he would have paid back within 8 years Im looking forward to him getting another 4...MAGNA!!!!
It's the same debt that was only $10.6 trillion when Obama took office and was $19.9 trillion when he left office.
Obama’s administration racked up nearly as much debt in eight years than in the entire 232-year history of the country before he took office.
But let's not lose sight of the gravity of this Corona virus situation - $100 million is a drop in the bucket in combating this deadly virus.

Nah, Pence is just dense...
$100 million? That's just one tenth of what failed businessman Donnie has lost due to his incompetence...
And doesn't that tell us everything about the Repub core value of fiscal conservatism...

I have no problem with my tax dollars going to increase Non-China control over the WHO. The way the WHO abided by China's priority in protecting their economy through suppression of information regarding this 2019-nCoV is absolutely disgraceful. I have no doubt that a house cleaning is in order and a WHO lead by those willing to abide by the organization's raison-d'etre is an absolute necessity for everyone living on this planet.

The money is from the private sector. Thank the US people. In times like these we should help anyway we can and hope for the best.
Haaa Nemui
Hiro, that’s not what the article says. It doors mention donations from the private sector though.

The US is obligated to give some money even knowing too well China will turn around and stabs the US right in the back. China would take the money then continues to deny that they've received help from the US. And of course China goes on with the usual brainwashing of their citizens with the evil US narrative. How the Chinese people see the US is like how the North Koreans see the US. The hate is strong.

the United States has also sent nearly 17.8 tons of medical supplies to China, including masks, gowns and other protective gear.
unbelievable.

More than likely end up in their military supply stock and deplete the rest of the world stock. Nice move from a military perspective. The US is too kind to send the CCP money and supplies that can best be suited for its own into a country that has hardly kept it secret it wants to topple the US in any way it can, specifically with the stealing of technology and US education/training.

Trump is adding to the debt at a similar pace than when Obama was in office, Obama had no choice to spend in his first term as he was left with a huge mountain of poo with the GFC. Trump is estimated to add almost $5trillion in his 1st term and hes doing this while the economy is good, better pray the economy doesn't turn bad
wtfjapan

and when $6trillion is wiped from the stock markets during the GFC what would you expect him to do to save the economy! Trump is on target to spend more than Obama in his 1st term and the economy is good thanks to Obama handing him that gift on a platter

It is in America’s interest, and that of all other countries, to aid China in its efforts to stop the virus. Corona is worse than SARS aided by the prevalence of global travel allowing any virus to spread faster than at any time in human history.
As for the US debt, the train has left the station. Sadly even the conservative party as a whole no longer cares about the debt. Yet they are the only ones left that have any elements within it that could save the country from inevitable financial oblivion. America has a bipartisan suicide pact built around trillion dollar annual deficits. No future annual budget could achieve balance without significant cuts to huge deficit funded welfare state. No government can be elected who do not support current levels or greater redistribution payments. This small $100 million payment is smart in the short term. Only fundamental change to America’s social programs can save Americans from its choking debt problem.

700billion a year spent on the military doesn't help either

I only recently found out that H1N1 spread to the world from US, but it didn't seem to get as much panic and US didn't do a good job containing it.

The 1918 H1N1 Spanish flu did cause a lot of panic and a lot of deaths. While it was first broadly noticed in U.S. Kansas military camps, it originated from a WW1 hospital camp in France and then brought home by soldiers of participating countries. But in 1918, the world is ill-equipped to handle such a pandemic
The 2009 H1N1 swine flu pandemic originated from Mexico before spreading to the U.S. and the rest of the world, especially Africa and Southeast Asia
