Why all of a sudden... after decades of various agreements with Russia, is the U.S. now pulling out? I think Trump is trying to show the press and his followers that he is hard on Russia and that he did not collude with them to win the election. This is a Political move designed to fool the people. The man has no shame.

I think Trump is trying to show the press and his followers that he is hard on Russia and that he did not collude with them to win the election.

I agree.

Trump's old enough to remember the Cold War, and how the threat of nuclear annihilation hung over the entire world for decades. That was ended by Gorbachev and Reagan, but now Trump wants to kick that all into history and reopen an arms race which this time might not succeed in keeping the lid on things.

Thing is it's impossible to believe anything this administration says. After the unsubstantiated claims about Iran and the unnecessary pulling out of the agreement with that country, how can we possibly trust anything they say about Russia? Or anyone else, for that matter?

3 ( +12 / -9 )

Let me see if I have this straight: His Fraudulence, once again doing the express bidding of his puppet master and loan shark, Vladimir Putin, is now giving Russia full permission to massively amp up nuclear warhead production? This, the same malign foreign power which "had no reason" to conduct massive cyber warfare against this nation? This, the same malign foreign power whose revisionist history for their aggression against NATO and other nations is now official talking points of the Out House? Is there anything on earth that might prompt the castrated, cowering toadies and traitors in the RepubliKlan Party to step up to stop this insanity? Now, apparently, a brand new nuclear weapons race is on deck. Thanks, Dumpsters - this disaster is yours, just as the shut down, the environmental catastrophe, the rising filth in our water, air, and soil, and the treason occupying the Out House.

2 ( +11 / -9 )

Putin must be pleased - the US can be blamed for starting the arms race.

3 ( +9 / -6 )

Gotta give Trump credit - this is a hell of a distraction.

4 ( +10 / -6 )

"I hope that we’re able to get everybody in a big and beautiful room and do a new treaty that would be much better. Certainly I would like to see that," Trump told reporters.

Trump doesn't have this skill. He doesn't craft agreements with multiple parties on big issues. His idea of accomplishment is tearing up other people's agreements and then losing interest with the replacements he promised.

He should appoint Obama to draft a comprehensive agreement if it comes to that.

5 ( +10 / -5 )

“Pull the string and I‘ll wink at you, I‘m your puppet. I‘ll withdraw from the INF arms treaty if you want me to, I‘m your puppet.”

Worst Russian agent ever!

-7 ( +4 / -11 )

He should appoint Obama to draft a comprehensive agreement if it comes to that.

Great idea. How many $1.5 billion dollar pallets of cash do you think it would cost American taxpayers to sell out the national security to the Russian mullah?

-9 ( +3 / -12 )

Wow what a move by the trickster fool his base it seems to be working just check out Serrano sure bass will come along soon and a few others..

1 ( +6 / -5 )

America did the right thing.

China is rapidly building nuclear-capable (Aircraft-carrier/GUAM killer) DF-26 and DF-31.

The USA has only sub-sonic Tomahawk where in even a Mauser 1898 rifle orM1911 pistol can hit.

The supersonic SM-6 Block-xx Missiles are not nuclear capable and the US has only 1000+ its inventory.

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

Great idea. How many $1.5 billion dollar pallets of cash do you think it would cost American taxpayers to sell out the national security to the Russian mullah?

CONSPIRACY THEORY ALERT! The above is a right-wing deep-state fake-news unicornverse qanon conspiracy theory. Not based in reality. Repeat: NOT based in reality.

Carry on.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Let me see if I have this straight: His Fraudulence, once again doing the express bidding of his puppet master and loan shark, Vladimir Putin, is now giving Russia full permission to massively amp up nuclear warhead production?

Hahaha, no matter what Trump does, Crazy twists it into a negative. Trump is still colluding, right, Crazy?

He should appoint Obama to draft a comprehensive agreement if it comes to that.

Great idea. How many $1.5 billion dollar pallets of cash do you think it would cost American taxpayers to sell out the national security to the Russian mullah?

Three. Enough for a good start on the wall.

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

Let me see if I have this straight: His Fraudulence, once again doing the express bidding of his puppet master and loan shark, Vladimir Putin,

With zero proof whatsoever ever.

is now giving Russia full permission to massively amp up nuclear warhead production? This, the same malign foreign power which "had no reason" to conduct massive cyber warfare against this nation?

So since Russia has not been abiding by the treaty, we should, but they won’t....Yeah, that seems like real liberal logic to me. You get to have a gun hunting for bears, but I only am allowed to use a 6 inch blade? Wow!

This, the same malign foreign power whose revisionist history for their aggression against NATO and other nations is now official talking points of the Out House?

As he should, so you think we should pay more and most of our allies pay less, we need to do more and they are allowed to give the biggest entitlements to their citizens, but don’t want to heavily invest in their own safety and security. You think we should send troops to die if something happens to Montenegro?

Is there anything on earth that might prompt the castrated, cowering toadies and traitors in the RepubliKlan Party to step up to stop this insanity?

From the party that wouldn’t lift a hand to move against Assad or backed their dear leader from establishing a SOFA agreement in Iraq, wouldn’t arm the Kurds or our Ukrainian allies.

Now, apparently, a brand new nuclear weapons race is on deck. Thanks, Dumpsters - this disaster is yours, just as the shut down, the environmental catastrophe, the rising filth in our water, air, and soil, and the treason occupying the Out House.

Really, for the last 8 years the Democrats didn’t do a thing to upgrade and heavily invest in our aging military equipment had their President done that and taken the threat of our enemies seriously, we would be way ahead of the game instead of playing catch up. Now they complain when the President takes serious actions like this. It was apparent National security means absolutely nothing to Democrats, but when it comes to healtcare, they want to rob every man, woman and child to get that money.

-3 ( +6 / -9 )

Great idea. How many $1.5 billion dollar pallets of cash do you think it would cost American taxpayers to sell out the national security to the Russian mullah?

I can't do cursory research. Quick! Make up a conspiracy theory.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

CONSPIRACY THEORY ALERT! The above is a left-wing deep-state fake-news unicornverse qanon conspiracy theory. Not based in reality. Repeat: NOT based in reality.

Hehe, good for the goose I guess :)

But that said, Trump has been meeting with Putin in private, no recordings, no nothing. He's got crazy investments in Russia, and now he makes a move that fits right into Putin's dream of restoring former Russian glory. Sure, it's speculation, but as the months go by, ignoring what's in front of your face turns into a situation of the frog boiling in the pot.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

This below is so well said.

Trump's old enough to remember the Cold War, and how the threat of nuclear annihilation hung over the entire world for decades. That was ended by Gorbachev and Reagan, but now Trump wants to kick that all into history and reopen an arms race which this time might not succeed in keeping the lid on things.

However, I think NATO needs to run its own investigation on Russia. If it is proven without a doubt that Russia broke the treaty. Then Russia needs to atone for it.

However, pulling out of the treaty is not the right move for the United States. I think this an immense opportunity for the current administration to show that it is willing to deal with Russia with substantive diplomacy. We do not need these two superpowers racing in the arms war again. There is a enough atomic weaponry on the planet already. Russia builds a missile that’s faster and more powerful. We respond with something else. Then Russia responds and here we go again with the back and forth.

If only I had known, I should have become a watchmaker.- Albert Einstein.

If this is allowed to happen and the cold war is re-started. How stupid we humans are. Have we not learned? As each day passes my distain for this administration grows like a cancer.

I had a long discussion last night with a real good friend on the parties. She is Democrat. After listening to her.

I am giving some serious thought of defecting. For the first time in my life I am looking over the line at blue.

What say you readers? Has anyone switched parties because they lost all faith? This is not the Republican party that I grew up with. This is not what it means to be a Republican. Trump is ruining more than the country. He is ruining the party that I love. I loved Regan. He inspired me serve and become a decent human being and Republican. I remember standing in the cold in Manchester N.H. as boy with my Mother carrying that pine mounted election sign. Pine sap and my mittens sticking to hunk of pine pole. Moon boots and the cold war were the thing. Sub zeros temps. Make my day! Regan for the 80's. Mother and I v.s the world.

I have always given to my party and supported it. Always.

I am really frustrated. I want my child to live in a world that is safe and free of such weapons. I remember all to well the Nuclear fall out drills in school we used have. If Russia wants to make more nukes and faster missles. Let them. The world will not favor it and history will be cruel. NO MORE NUKES PERIOD! I don't know. The older I get. The more I think about making the world a better place for my child.

I guess I am dreamer. I am going soft.

Trump holds Russia accountable for violating the treaty. But you gotta push your “Russia collusion” to the bitter end.

So you need to twist this into Trump allowing Putin to do something. Doesn’t work. Guess this is just a media distraction from other things going on.

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

Trump holds Russia accountable for violating the treaty. But you gotta push your “Russia collusion” to the bitter end

Withdrawing from the treaty is not holding Russia accountable, it is stopping to Russia's level. Sanctions would be holding Russia accountable.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Sanctions would be holding Russia accountable.

I am down with that. Diplomacy. Crippling sanctions backed by NATO. Seems Russia is the aggresor here.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

I am down with that. Diplomacy. Crippling sanctions backed by NATO. Seems Russia is the aggresor here.

You're also an independent thinker that doesn't simply blow with the wind Trump breaks.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

Finally some real gutsy change that Obama and his administration didn't have except hot air talk and both China and Russia expanded their weapons and military buildup. Did I forget to mention that the manmade islands for peaceful intentiions..yeah right were never going to be militarized like they are today and Russia would not test any more nukes....oh and everyone in Japan and the rest of the world is Chinese according to their version of history...

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

You have some really valid pointa. But if Russia isn’t going to abide by the treaty then its a worthless piece of paper. We could just pretend everything is fine and that we hadn’t noticed, which is what someone who is “colluding” with Russia would do.

But instead we publicly pulled out from it and held Russia accountable. But as always liberals just claim it’s for show and babble on about collusion.

whats wrong with Cruz or Rubio or others? Nothing really except they would not have beaten Hillary and can’t win in 2020. So if Republicans want to ensure Kamala Harris or Hillary in the White House, nominate someone other than Trump.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

Okay so let's discuss this.

We pull out of the treaty 100%! Done and gone.

Ramifications? Benefits?

Who benefits from the re-ignition of Cold War II?

The iron curtain is drawn again.

Fail safes off. We can now build the type of wepons China and Russia pursue. And most likey do it better.

Do not know if any of you know George Perkovich.

History teaches that leaders only agree to reduce their stockpiles of nuclear weapons when they improve relations with adversaries and no longer fear the types of war they once did, the nuclear-weapons expert George Perkovich was once quoted saying.

John Bolton feels that- In his own words.

In walking away from the treaty, the president is recognizing a “changed reality” in both technological and strategic terms, Bolton declared on Tuesday during a visit to Russia.

I will hand it to Mr. Bolton. Took some serious cahonies to go to Russia and say this.

I fear some in this Trump admin never heard of the term "amendment to treaty."

The Cold war reminds me of those never ending Apple OS updates.

And now with this new update you can..........

Android repsonse coming soon.

This is exactly what Putin wanted trump to do. Allow the Russians to do what to go forward with their plans without having to have broken the treaty themselves.

This was probably the instructions Putin gave trump at their secret meeting where there was no other American present, not even a translator. Putin does speak English after all.

Russia is out of compliance with the treaty. So, rather than doing his "tough negotiator" thing, our Clown in Chief has decided not to hold them to the agreement AT ALL?!?

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Russia has a new range of hypersonic weapons that the US cannot counter.

Trump certainly knows this and as CIC he needs to rehash new treaties with Russia to (on paper) attempt to contain the Russian advantage-he has no choice.......

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

The USA should convert back the 4 OHIO-CLASS submarines so that it can be aimed to China. 4 to China and the existing to Russia.

OHIO-class submarine has 24 TRIDENT MISSILES, one missile has 8 to 12 MIRV nuclear warheads.

10 MIRV x 24 Trident x 4 converted OHIO's = 960 warhead to CHINA, this is so good.

10 MIRV x 24 Trident x 14 OHIO's = 3,360 warheads to Russia, this is so good.

================================================

=== Therefore, by OHIO's capability, plus producing new and more Intermediate Nuclear missiles, there will be no nuclear war because of MAD.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Russia has a new range of hypersonic weapons that the US cannot counter.

But what if I told you there was an effective deterrent and it's not a missile at all.

Then what direction does “ he has no choice” go into?

There is always a choice. Always!

I guess when Trump said "Make America Great Again". He also meant. Make America silent deadly and quick again. On the nuclear front.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

The US has been flaunting and circumventing the treaty since it was agreed to. There are 800 US basis around the globe, including on the doorstep if Russia and China. Trump has started the Space Corps in an attempt to control space and Israel claims Nuclear Ambiguity and the so-called Western Power (Western Wimps) did nothing).

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

This is exactly what Putin wanted trump to do. Allow the Russians to do what to go forward with their plans without having to have broken the treaty themselves.

Well it doesn’t matter what Russia wants osince they are not honoring the treaty, so we don’t need to either.

This was probably the instructions Putin gave trump at their secret meeting where there was no other American present, not even a translator. Putin does speak English after all.

Ok....now the Unicornverse is in full bloom...

Russia is out of compliance with the treaty. So, rather than doing his "tough negotiator" thing, our Clown in Chief has decided not to hold them to the agreement AT ALL?!?

Liberals are so smart, what should he do? Russia does what it wants and when it wants we just have to abide by a piece of paper? ROFL!

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Unleashing any countries nuclear arsenal is so not good.

Whether it be from a submarine, ship, bomber or from space, launch pad and lastly secret silo's.

There is no need for this type of weaponry on this planet.

Although September 11 was horrible, it didn't threaten the survival of the human race, like nuclear weapons do.

Stephen Hawking

I call upon the scientific community in our country, those who gave us nuclear weapons, to turn their great talents now to the cause of mankind and world peace: to give us the means of rendering these nuclear weapons impotent and obsolete.

Ronald Reagan

You probably don't need more weapons than what's required to destroy every city on earth. There's only 2,300 cities. So, the United States, by that criteria, only needs 2,300 nuclear weapons - well, we've got more than 25,000!

Carl Sagan

We have a chance to wind down and expedite the removal of 96 percent of the world's nuclear weapons. What an achievement it would be, if at the end of the next administration, we could say that the nuclear arsenals of both Russia and the United States had been reduced to the barest minimums.

Dianne Feinstein

The human and environmental devastation caused by nuclear weapons - whether by testing, mistake or malice - is the very reason we need to eliminate them altogether.

Valerie Plame

I still believe that any country understands that if they use nuclear weapons, they will be wiped out of existence. They could be irrational in many ways, but I don't think they're irrational to the point that they're ready to annihilate their own country.

Mohamed ElBaradei

With possibility of eliminating this treaty. We take a step in the direction of annihilating our very own existence.

It is a step backwards. I see not outcome that bodes well for any country.

So a strong meaningful response is appropriate

We also never had a president who has been laughed at by so many world leaders, nor have we had a president connected to so many criminals!

It was a laughing stock already, the apology tour, Russian jets flying razor close to our Naval fleet, Putin taking Crimea, Obama not enforcing his infamous Red Line, that is what made us a laughign stock.

Putin is definitely somewhere drinking an expensive alcohol infront of a fireplace gently stroking a cat with an evil smile. GOP greed is the US's downfall.

Judging by how radical the Dems ban acting over the last 2 weeks, they themselves might be the downfall of the US.

It was a laughing stock already, the apology tour,

A debunked right-wing talking point we constantly hear. Repetition does not make something true.

Russian jets flying razor close to our Naval fleet,

This has continued under Wimpy.

Putin taking Crimea,

You excorciate Obama for not getting us out of Afghanistan; for honoring the SOFA Bush II signed with Iraq and getting us out of there; and for getting us into Syria.

Which is it? Should we intervene abroad or shouldn't we? You are constsntly inconsistent on this point.

Obama not enforcing his infamous Red Line,

You constantly cast aspersions on Obama for "by-passing" Congress. Yet Obama went to Congress seeking authorization to enforce his Red Line but the Republicans said no.

Which is it? By-passing congress is okay? It's not? Here, again, you're consistently inconsistent.

that is what made us a laughign stock.

Trump supporters make us the laughing stock,

We hear the same opposite from liberals everyday.

No, I’ve always been straight, but you guys believe what you want and never listen.

I clearly listen given I accurately stated your positions.

Whatever happened to UN investigators report that Russia did indeed violate the treaty? I sure hope it wasn't biased US intel - it needs to be neutral arbitrator (e.g. if I were CEO of a company, I couldn't have one of my company's departments decide).

He is obeying his master in Moscow

Oh my...

U.S. President Donald Trump accused Moscow on Friday of violating the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces treaty with "impunity" by deploying banned missiles. Trump said in a statement that the U.S. will "move forward" with developing its own military response options to Russia's deployment of banned cruise missiles that could target Western Europe.

Now that's what I call obeying his master in Moscow!

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Now that's what I call obeying his master in Moscow!

Yes, pulling out of treaty that your Master doesn't want to follow is called obeying your Master because they are no longer legally bound to follow it.

I guess you don't understand logic!
