Okay, I'm in one of the states mentioned now and you simply would not believe how many people there are who are simply insane. They refuse to wear a mask and yell at people who do. They walk about announcing to all with earshot that the virus is a hoax and just a "bad cold."

This is only going to get worse. I see no hope for it getting better with these people. They talk about it being a plot by (fill in any name).

They parrot the nonsense from Trump that the death rate is going down, not having the intelligence to understand that the death rate lags the infection rate.

I'm in a city with has the highest infection rate in the world. Not the US, in the world. They bleat about their freedom and think wearing masks is only for smug liberal pansies.

Doomed. Doomed, I tell you.

People are stubborn and refuse to accept good advice.

The governor of Oklahoma, despite coming down with the disease, is insisting that he won't do anything differently to try to prevent the spread of the disease in that state. Some have said that the unwillingness to change one's views and behavior in the face of overwhelming evidence is demonstration of cognitive dissonance. There seems to be a lot of cognitive dissonance going around in America these days.

Trump’s rally in Tulsa last month, which health experts have said likely contributed to a surge in coronavirus cases there,

The virus continues to spread in the US and elsewhere. There are many plausible explanations why people have contracted the virus. One obvious one is ignoring advice from health experts; an example not wearing a mask and practicing social distancing. Another reason is people listen to 'leaders' and actually believe those saying it's un-American to do so. Rot starts at the top and from there is trickled down on all levels, especially on true believers and the 'poorly educated'.

Some staggering numbers here: https://poll.qu.edu/national/release-detail?ReleaseID=3666

Do you think President Trump should wear a face mask when he is out in public?

Republicans: 46% NO

Democrats: 93% YES

Do you think everyone should be required to wear face masks in public?

Republicans: 56% NO

Democrats: 95% YES

Do you think people should be dining indoors at restaurants at this time?

Republicans: 64% YES

Democrats: 84% NO

And the most shocking one of all:

Do you think people should be going to large mass gatherings at this time?

Republicans: 31% YES

Democrats: 1% YES

1 in 3 registered Republicans support mass gatherings. Just insane. Literally just insane.

Please visit the website if you'd like to know more about the polling process in this survey.

Should not have listened to Trump who was pushing for an early reopening....

9 ( +14 / -5 )

Considering that 300 virus testing facilities in Florida now had to walk back their test results where each reported a 100 percent positive rate down to "updated" numbers that were as low as 6.7 percent, other states' reported statistics are now suspect.

Another fake news promoted by the uneducated deniers!!!

While Fauci himself says his relationship with Trump is good.

Interesting alternative fact. Seeing as in real facts Fauci has never said that.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

It's not true when they say the virus doesn't discriminate. It attacks stupid people first. The Trump supporters are more likely to get infected. Think about it (if you can).

And in other news, more chaos in the Trump campaign...looks like we have our next candidate in the "he's the greatest and the best - now he's a wacko and liar" club...

President Donald Trump has orchestrated a shakeup of his struggling reelection campaign with less than four months to go, elevating Bill Stepien to campaign manager and demoting Brad Parscale, who had been serving in that role.

https://www.politico.com/news/2020/07/15/trump-replaces-campaign-manager-parscale-stepien-365176

And the deck chairs on the Trump Titanic keep getting rearranged...

Trump’s approval rating on handling Covid has now dipped under 40% on its downward trend.

Plenty of posters here trying to shift blame away from him but it looks like the public aren’t buying it. It’s tough at the top and there are things you gat blamed for which aren’t entirely your fault, but it comes with the territory.

Trump needs to man up and realize this. His constant attempts to play the victim aren’t cutting too much ice now.

Fauci supports reopening the schools...

I think “safely and where possible” needs to be inserted into your comment to make it correct.

States that have increasing infection and death rates certainly can’t restart schools “safely” right now, now can they?

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Too many gullible people in "Red States" have listened to and believed in the "trumptalk" of officials gaslighting them with nonsense like, "No testing, no confirmed cases, no sick people, no covid-related deaths." And so we see people just "magically" disappear as Covid-19 numbers go south and Trump's reelection chances circle the drain.

Virus cases rise in Arizona, Texas and Florida; Oklahoma governor has coronavirus

Repub Governor, Repub Governor, Repub Governor, and Repub Governor...

Oklahoma Gov Kevin Stitt, a first-term Republican governor who has backed one of the country's most aggressive reopening plans, became the first U.S. governor to announce that he had tested positive for COVID-19. He plans to quarantine at home.

See Governor, that's what happens when you listen to Trump...

Stitt, who has resisted any statewide mandate on masks and rarely wears one himself, attended President Donald Trump’s rally in Tulsa last month, which health experts have said likely contributed to a surge in coronavirus cases there, though Stitt said he’s confident he didn’t contract the virus at the gathering.

Another casualty of the Trump Tulsa COVID Carnival...

Florida broke the 300,000 barrier on confirmed cases Wednesday, reporting 10,181 new ones as its daily average death rate continues to rise. Major cities in Florida have imposed mask rules, but Gov Ron DeSantis has declined to issue a state-wide order, arguing those are best decided on and enforced locally. Still, on Tuesday the governor wore a mask while speaking publicly for the first time — at a round-table news conference with Miami-Dade County mayors.

Hey, Gov DeSantis, Trump thinks you're "Anti-American" for wearing a mask...

In Washington, a divided approach to the pandemic response spilled into public view in extraordinary fashion, with trade adviser Peter Navarro panning Dr Anthony Fauci, the nation’s top infectious disease expert. Fauci called the criticism “nonsense” and “a bit bizarre.” Trump stepped in to referee, saying “we’re all on the same team.”

Trump sending out one of his cronies to diss Dr Fauci - because he hasn't the courage to do it himself. "You go diss Fauci, I'll be hiding in he bunker..."

The Trump supporters are more likely to get infected.

True, but that means they will spread it to others, too.

@Peter Neil

hang in there man!! Kick against the pricks, avoid all the wrong people, in fact everyone, and keep your head down.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

also Google "30 year old man attends COVID party in Texas" and dies from corona.

Better check your gospel channel fox.

3.48 million cases and the uneducated think reducing it by a few will make the virus disappear.

What this poll shows all of us is that liberals prefer the lemming crowd that prefers submission and capitulation to the powers that be

So you support mass gatherings at this time?

Most people don’t, including a majority of Republicans. Are they lemmings?

4 ( +6 / -2 )

@bass4funk Trump supporter detected.

Fauci's advice were always based on what was known at the time. If his advice had been followed, there wouldn't be a need to revise them since the number of cases wouldn't have been that high.

At the start of the pandemic, masks were less necessary that proper lockdown measures. But masks were very important for medical workers so it was better to let them have it.

Masks are only effective if the number of cases is low. When it is high, the best measure is still to refrain from going outside or meeting people.

As always, nothing good comes out of a Dem-controlled state........just saying.

Like a certain failed businessman and former reality TV host, who came out of Queens NY....

Or like his father, maybe he was born in Germany too....

4 ( +6 / -2 )

The current administration and its uneducated followers deny the virus and trivialize the deaths it causes.

They denigrate the BLM movement and deny the senseless killings of blacks and other minorities.

Not a surprise that their intellectually challenged leader thinks that the best way to reduce new infections is to slow down testing.

Ignorance is a badge of honor for this band of illiterates!!!!!

4 ( +6 / -2 )

The US hit a new record high of daily infections today.  I thought Trump said you would get sick of winning, not you will get sick by winning.

3 ( +8 / -5 )

You might want to Google "Florida covid-19 false test results"

I did.

Fake news!!

3 ( +7 / -4 )

I see, so don’t listen to Fauci and dismiss all opposing viewpoints that don’t align with the establishment narrative.....

and yet Trump just two days ago said that theyre doing an excellent job because they followed his advice

3 ( +5 / -2 )

On Jul 12th, the US had the largest increase in infections ever - also the largest number of infections of any country in the world - over 66K....that's just one day....

With current COVID mortality rates, 2700 of those will likely die.

Just one day....

And this President does nothing...except allow his Trade Rep to smear the government's leading pandemic expert...

For the sake of all Americans, Nov 3rd can't come fast enough...

What's worse is that people calling in to 911 and even asking if it is safe to do so, that's beyond dumb if you fail to use basic common sense.

If their leader suggested it, someone who claims is smarter than most doctors, you cannot blame his followers for believing in him.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

What?

What's worse is that people calling in to 911 and even asking if it is safe to do so, that's beyond dumb if you fail to use basic common sense.

do you mean trump doesn't have common sense!!!!

@egads

re: getting tired of the same news of increasing numbers.

yes, I agree PLUS I think it even reinforces the lunatic conspiracy nuts that think it’s all a hoax. They see the mainstream media nonstop bleating about the increase of deaths/infections (bad news sells, after all! Who the hell is interested in good news?!) and they feel more justified in their twisted beliefs and conspiracies.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Maybe this person....

Trump sending out one of his cronies to diss Dr Fauci - because he hasn't the courage to do it himself. "You go diss Fauci, I'll be hiding in he bunker..."

should listen to this person-

So many people still intent on playing politics instead of playing safe.

Anybody attending large gatherings, no matter what political party they vote for, are putting themselves at risk. I don't let politicians dictate my personal hygiene.

"Stitt, who has resisted any statewide mandate on masks and rarely wears one himself, attended President Donald Trump’s rally in Tulsa last month, which health experts have said likely contributed to a surge in coronavirus cases there, though Stitt said he’s confident he didn’t contract the virus at the gathering..."

The same health experts that said they totally supported the BLM protests. Half a million attended BLM protests in the U.S. vs 6200 attended at the Tulsa rally. Those are the same health experts that said nearly 1/3 of Covid deaths are by African Americans. Now suddenly Tulsa is the reason for Covid's spread throughout the U.S. As long as you have a good cause, COVID will let you pass.

Yes, Arizona is an important city.

-4 ( +4 / -8 )

I think the real ignorance shows when liberals take a one sided opinionated point of view of the virus. If Biden were President and he ordered the reopening of the schools the next day I doubt any liberal or Democrat would complain about ignorance.

They denigrate the BLM movement and deny the senseless killings of blacks and other minorities.

And yet complete silence on black on black crimes, even black leaders don’t get airtime or celebs like Terry Crews talk about this issue and they’re laughed at, mocked and ridiculed. Where is the Democrat leadership? Why aren’t they stepping up to help these communities?

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

It's people escaping Dem helllhole states... IL, MA, NJ and NY who moved in and brought with them the virus.... as soon as the lock down was lifted in FL, TX and GA.

As always, nothing good comes out of a Dem-controlled state........just saying.

What this poll shows all of us is that liberals prefer the lemming crowd that prefers submission and capitulation to the powers that be and in this case it’s the medical so called professionals when it’s medical advice they can use against Trump. Fauci supports reopening the schools, so libs can’t go with that, that helps Trump, so now we shouldn’t listen to Fauci, we should dismiss him on this and listen to these Democrat mayors and governors depending on what they say and they feel kids should stay home until we find a cure and as to when that will be no one will know.

Twitter gets it right, again.

Even if you are partisan Democrat, even if you are alarmed by developments in Fla, Tx, and Az, even if you oppose re-opening, there is zero case to be made for Andrew Cuomo as the great conquering hero of covid

re: Another reason is people listen to 'leaders' and actually believe those saying it's un-American to do so. Rot starts at the top and from there is trickled down on all levels, especially on true believers and the 'poorly educated'.

What nonsense without any substantial facts to back it up. Each person has a choice good or bad but nevertheless a choice. There is no such un-American about it. The top-down mentality is ludicrous and proven across real world US accounts vs fake news. SARS2 aka coronavirus has no educated or uneducated best attack, it is up to the individual to either heed the warnings or not. Educated or not made their own choices when it comes to risking their own life and has no basis from top leaders or such. It is media and far right n left talk shows instigating bad information and manipulation over airwaves with disinformation that is a cause. As for Facci, he even openly has admitted that HE is not an expert when it comes to these matters so instead refers himself to take precautions and recommends others do the same. While a face mask is not a 100% safe shield nor social distancing, these preventive measures are proved to reduce a persons chances substantially as well as practicing hygiene. Bottom line, it all comes down to "individual choice" or like we say in Japan case by case.

Yawn

Getting tired of the same news in a different form. How about the news telling us when cases go down or there's some medical breakthrough. The over saturation of this constant bombardment of increasing numbers is just going to make more people apathetic.
