Chin up, Brizzo! She'll be right.

The question is, how this very little stupid brainless virus beast has managed to travel that extremely far from UK to down under and even easily surpassed the famous strict and harsh Aussie immigration procedures. Everyone else would be quite easily detected, caught and denied entry, as far as I know.

Calling it the China virus was racist but UK virus strain is fine.

Correct. It's the UK strain (distinct from the original strain or South Africa strain) of Covid-19.

Brisbane they're only testing those staff members once a week, where it really should be done every day.

News says that they will be tested every shift.

If we are calling it "the UK strain" then we ought to say "the UK strain of the Chinese virus".

Yes, according to naming agreements for diseases and pathogens the names of people, places, etc. Are not to be used. The difference is that obviously for COVID-19 there was not other coronavirus produced disease of importance emerging at the same time so there was no confusion.

If you are going to name the strains properly they would be SARS-CoV-2 Variant VOC 202012/01 (B.1.1.7.) and SARS-CoV-2 Variant 20C/501Y.V2 (501.V2). Health professionals get used easily to these denomination and use them without problem, but for the general public its hard to remember which one is which and that is why media tends to use the country names to differentiate them.

UK strain, South African variant, Japanese encephalitis, West Nile virus, Kawasaki disease are not racist (although the last one was named after a person, not the place).

Seems most people in Brisbane would prefer a 3 day lockdown rather than months of crap.

Fair play to them

"I’m from the UK and I have no problem with the label UK strain."

Where you are from and your feelings about the label are irrelevant. WHO guidelines for naming diseases are clear on avoiding negative consequences for people and nations.

But these guidelines are selectively followed in some cases and ignored in others. There is a strong case for renaming diseases such as JE, MERS, WNV but nothing has been done. But WHO was quick to come up with an official name for Wuhan flu to avoid negative reactions towards one country and its people.

The same country which is now stalling an official WHO probe and claiming that virus originated in the US.

I’m from the UK and I have no problem with the label ‘UK strain’. I’ve spent quite a bit of time in China and seen firsthand what the corrupt scumbags in the CCP have caused .

It’s just spineless, failed politicians and their supporters trying to shift blame which I can’t stand. These people need to grow up, man up, and face their responsibilities and failures.

Spending quite a bit of time in a place as opposed to living there and not as an Expat with privileges is quite different than your opinionated ideas you profess here. You constantly blast Japan.... this place is not the UK, irrelevant nor Eastern Europe where you originated from according to past posts.

Be more fare to people you comment to. People struggling in Kyoto as well due to lack of tourists. Be kind and think before you react. WE are all guests on this forum.

CCP virus

They certainly need to be held to account, but those using the expression ‘CCP virus’ and the like tend to be those making excuses for politicians who failed miserably with regards to the ‘CCP virus’.

It’s a bit pathetic. It lacks backbone.

CoVid manifested itself it China but it could've been anywhere. TraitorTrashTrump calls it the 'Chinese virus' and 'Kung Flu' but we all know what an immature and sassy-mouth lippy traitor thug brat he is.

So, this new variation from Britain, are we going to call it the 'Bozo variation' now? If we do, we're acting as juvenile as that loudmouth Dirtbag Trump.

You forget who calling is it that. The One Who Pops Off The Chops All the Time Like A Kid. The Most Disgusting Obnoxious Juvenile Racist Lippy Brat Who thinks He Is A President. The One Who Stinks His Diapers And Incites Insurrections With His Fascist Motormouth.

You know who that is. The one who proved to be a traitor this week.

Why should anyone, let alone yourself even bother listenng to anything that worthless scumpot says?
