Double failure. No change to election laws and no elimination of the filibuster. Not even for this one small time only like Schumer was trying to falsely sell.

so as Dems said, they cannot win confirmed free and fair elections now. Which is great.

Stevie Wonder had some choice words about this yesterday. More people need to speak up and against this.

What state was Stevie elected by to represent them in the Senate again? I forgot.

Back on topic please.

Voting bill collapses; Democrats unable to change filibuster:

Voting bill collapses, filibuster stays.

In the final analysis, US senate will continue to malfunction..

We live in the Age of Hypocrisy so nothing that happened today surprised me. Moreover, it’s easy to blame the Trump party and two DINOs for today’s results, but dig deeper and you’ll see SIGs and even foreign entities are doing everything in their power to undermine and water down the vote in America. As long as money is to be made via political decisions, the public will continue be simple bystanders in the Downfall. Watching it from afar over three decades has been equally fascinating and heartbreaking at times.

All republics come apart at the seems eventually. Man is too much of a fallen creature not to corrupt any political system.

Being a democratic nation is looking more and more unattractive these days. They never get things done. Projects and bills takes forever to be approved.

The Democrats should’ve known this was the worst thing that they could’ve attempted. This really blew up in their face.

"... deployed by opponents of civil rights legislation = Democrats".

Recall that it was the SOUTHERN DEMOCRATS who vociferously opposed: the Emancipation of slaves, and the Civil Rights Act. The Jim Crow Democrats.

Because Pepperidge Farms remembers!

A reminder from US History: When the bill (Civil Rights Act) came before the full Senate for debate on March 30, 1964, the "Southern Bloc" of 18 southern Democratic Senators and lone Republican John Tower of Texas, led by Richard Russell, launched a filibuster to prevent its passage. Russell proclaimed, "We will resist to the bitter end any measure or any movement which would tend to bring about social equality and intermingling and amalgamation of the races in our [Southern] states."

That filibuster was run by DEMOCRATS, and LBJ, with his deep-seated racist roots, supported its passage only for political points.

Good, the Dems continue to take L's but they deserved it this time once again, what a terrible plan and pure political opportunism. After all, they were against it before they were for it; cue all of Schumer's arguments not long ago when he sound exactly like Manchin.

Bass, maybe you can quit calling the most effective Senator since LBJ a RINO?

Mitch, but he is.

Or would the Sun King call you disloyal for that?

What?

McConnell did next to nothing, except maybe keeping Romney from voting Democrat again.

Absent Sinema and Manchin this federal overreach into our elections would have passed.

For those not understanding what's at stakes, Republicans don't have the numbers to win elections without suppressing certain demographics that tend to vote for Democrats.

The Voting Rights Act of 1965 increased the ability of minorities to vote.

The Republicans controlled Supreme Court gutted it last year as well as Georgia enacting crazy laws to limit the ability of non-white voters to go to the polls. Such shenanigans are limiting the amount of polling places, limiting the hours of polling places (just during the workday on a weekday that people can't afford to take off), designating polling areas is remote areas that people won't have access to, making the lines last hours but illegal to give someone in line some water.

The USA is moving closer and closer to fascism.

Well done. Got all the Repubs on record as voting against keeping our elections free and fair....Americans will remember that in Nov 2022/24....

And it's much better news than this;

The Supreme Court cleared the way Wednesday for the release of presidential records from the Trump White House to a congressional committee investigating the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol. The court's order means that more than 700 documents will be transferred to Congress that could shed light on the events leading up to the insurrection when hundreds of rioters converged on the Capitol attempting to stop certification of the 2020 presidential election results.

New York Attorney General Letitia James laid out new, specific details about what her office believes to be "misleading or fraudulent" financial statements from former President Donald Trump's business empire in a late-night court filing on Tuesday. The new filing seeks to compel the testimony of Trump, Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump as part of her civil investigation into the Trump Organization.

The very best of US democracy in action. Results - a big fat nothing. Nada, Zilch. Before you know it, Trump will be back.
