Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has just announced the outbreak pandemic only when cases seemed to decline in China while the rest of the world is fighting an uphill battle. Tedros's long-overdue announcement should be put under scrutiny when it benefited no one except Xi Jinping and his corrupt government.

Have WHO ever asked , why is Europe the next China and NOT the united States of America the next china ???. U.S.A is the next country that boast big abt anything ???. Why are U not mentioning abt the USA ???. Is WHO also being controlled by USA ???.

"We are deeply concerned by the alarming levels of spread and severity and by the alarming levels of inaction."

Why is WHO singling out Japan?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

This is a joke. Why is Japan so afraid of the testing it’s citizens?

a) Olympics

b) Infrastructure incapacitated

c) Incompetence

d) Budget restraints

e) Fear of infection thru patient

My vote is for a, c, and d, with the emphasis on the Olympics.

@Tora,

Mate, as a Canuck, I am well aware of the unmitigated BS that Michel Chossudovsky and Centre for Research on Globalization ceaselessly promote. Looks like we're going to have to agree to disagree.

According to, NPR "Sites like PolitiFact and Factcheck.org are designed to verify political claims and hold politicians accountable. But critics say fact-checking entities are themselves biased."

NPR is not saying that "fact-checking entities are themselves biased", but conservative critics like Mark Hemingway of the arch-conservative Washington Examiner certainly are. I wonder if you read the transcript or listened to the show, because fact checking does not come off as badly as you seem to think it does.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

So irresponsibly late they've undermined themselves to everyone

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Why were there so many coronavirus cases particularly in Hokkaido and northern Italy?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

This is a joke. Why is Japan so afraid of the testing it’s citizens?

a) Olympics

b) Infrastructure incapacitated

c) Incompetence

d) Budget restraints

e) Fear of infection thru patient

Probably for all those reasons. It's ridiculous level. I think I saw an article a few days ago saying that Japan has capacity to perform up to 3800 tests per day. Why are they testing far less than their capacity?

1 ( +3 / -2 )

China's new worry is that the coronavirus could re-enter from abroad.

WoW! China got jokes.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Note that Italy has a far higher rate of testing than Japan, 1,005 per million people vs 79 tests per million for Japan.

This is a joke. Why is Japan so afraid of the testing it’s citizens?

a) Olympics

b) Infrastructure incapacitated

c) Incompetence

d) Budget restraints

e) Fear of infection thru patient

Mate, the stuff I quoted from Global Research is not a conspiracy. Perhaps you might consider the following to be a conspiracy, on how corrupt the Dr. Terdo and the WHO are, though:

Dr. Tedros, as he likes to be called (he has a Ph.D. in community health), is a leader of Ethiopia’s brutal minority party, the Tigray People’s Liberation Front, a wing of the ruling Marxist-rooted Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front. He served the violently repressive regime as minister of foreign affairs from 2012 to 2016, after a stint as health minister.

Tedros was reportedly elected with 133 of 185 votes in a third-round secret ballot, handily defeating the eminently qualified British candidate, David Nabbaro, M.D.

Prior to Tedros’s election, the Associated Press published an exposé on WHO’s already infamously lavish spending on first-class airfare and five-star hotels.

The AP obtained documents showing that WHO “routinely has spent about $200 million a year on travel expenses, more than what it doles out to fight some of the biggest problems in public health, including AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria combined.”

The Centre for Research on Globalization reported that the 11 September attacks were a false flag attack planned by the CIA.

According to PolitiFact, the Centre "has advanced specious conspiracy theories on topics like 9/11, vaccines and global warming."

The Centre for Research on Globalization has asserted that the 7 July 2005 London bombings were perpetrated by the United States, Israel, and United Kingdom.

The Centre for Research on Globalization has posted articles which suggest that Osama bin Laden was a CIA asset, and accused the United States, Israel and Britain of plotting to conquer the world.

Sounds like a credible organisation to me...

Your Chinese coworker isn't Chinese people, as simple as that.

True, he doesn’t represent all Chinese people. He does tend to take an objective though.

Why have the CCP been trying to root out corruption? Are the CCP lying that corruption exists?

kokontozai,

I respectfully submit that the case fatality rate is a more instructive measure than death vs recovery.

That said, if testing isn't being done, then COVID-19 deaths may be attributed to other causes.

Furthermore, countries with higher percentages of their populations over the age of 60, like Japan and Italy, will have higher case fatality rates (CFR).

Currently, Japan's reported CFR is 2.3%, while Italy's is 6.6%

Note that Italy has a far higher rate of testing than Japan, 1,005 per million people vs 79 tests per million for Japan.

Finally, some research suggests that there is in fact two strains of COVID-19. This could account for different CFRs.

If anything, some people are blaming China for the spread.

Whilst I don't agree with that

I blame the CCP for not getting its house in order. They need to do more to ensure this kind of thing doesn’t happen again. I asked my Chinese coworker about the CCP’s competence and corruption and he goes more with the corruption angle and particularly at local levels.

A rotten organisation.

@drluifier

This to start:

And this is the fundamental problem with the WHO: it cannot treat member states equally because they are not equal. During the Cold War, it was the United States that was seen as having too much influence, leading the Soviet Union and its allies to walk out from 1949 to 1956. The US retains major sway due to its position as one of the largest individual funders of the WHO, as do other major economies such as Japan and the United Kingdom, and private donors like the Gates Foundation.* ***While it has not historically been a major funder, the WHO has praised China's "growing contribution" to global health initiatives.**

Beyond financial issues, the WHO is also directly controlled by its member states, who nominate and elect the organization's director general and set its agenda. This means the WHO cannot afford, politically or financially, to antagonize countries like the US or China that wield outsized influence over other nations.

"If Tedros wants WHO to stay informed about what's happening in China and influence how the country handles the epidemic, he cannot afford to antagonize the notoriously touchy Chinese government -- even though it is clear the country has been less than fully transparent about the outbreak's early stages, and perhaps still is," Kai Kupferschmidt wrote in the journal Science this week.

https://edition.cnn.com/2020/02/14/asia/coronavirus-who-china-intl-hnk/index.html

Also from the Guardian:

Interposed into the midst of all this has been the WHO – and Tedros – a relationship complicated by the fact that China is a major donor to the world health body. The mix of health and international politics has been underlined by the exclusion of Taiwan from discussions even after the coronavirus spread there.

https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2020/feb/05/the-coronavirus-lays-bare-the-limits-of-whos-health-diplomacy-with-china

Regarding Tredos and his conflict of interest:

There is one country where the national air carrier has not cut flights to China to this date—Tedros’ own Ethiopia. Ethiopian Airlines continues to fly daily into Ethiopia from major Chinese cities. At the Addis Ababa airport the passengers are only given a minimal temperature test, something for a disease with a 14 day incubation period is hardly sufficient to limit the spread of the pathogen to Africa. While 59 other air carriers from 44 different countries have all grounded their flights to China, Ethiopian Airlines insists that it will follow directives from the World Health Organization and continue its daily China flights.

The entry point for air travel between China and Africa is Ethiopia. The Chinese have built a new airport in Addis Ababa and it is the “gateway” for travel between many African countries like Zambia and China. Ethiopia’s Bole International airport sees on average 1500 passengers per day arriving from China. There are an estimated one million Chinese working in Africa from Zambia to Nigeria, and Tedros’ Ethiopia is their place to enter. The problem is that Ethiopia is an extremely poor country and it, like most of Africa is ill-prepared to handle any outbreak of coronavirus. Despite the fact that Ethiopian citizens have protested at the continuing China air travel risk, the government continues to use WHO and Tedros’ statements to keep business flowing. In an alarm signal, the first reported case of coronavirus in Botswana was of an African student who came from China on an Ethiopian Airlines plane.

Also, mate, the Chinese have immense influence and sway over Africa now. I have been going up to East Africa for the past five years and the contrast each trip compared to the previous is stark and can be seen through massive Chinese funded infrastructure projects, Chinese industrial and commercial presences, and the sheers numbers of Chinese in major cities now. This may seem good on the surface, but do you think the Chinese are just being benevolent and don't expect political favours?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

don't see that you can blame a country for a virus originating there.

Yes, you can. Everything originates from somewhere.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Every honest professionals say that China saved the world.

Literally, nobody is saying that.

If anything, some people are blaming China for the spread.

Whilst I don't agree with that, either, the draconian treatment of the brave doctors will tried to warn us, is a disgrace.

Beware of Beijing propaganda.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Too little too late. Who’s the WHO? Doesn’t matter now.

They’ve dropped the ball big time and failed to do the very thing they were created for. More self serving institutions to follow. Now watch the suits run for the hills. Disgraceful.

*South Korea's COVID-19 mortality rate is 0.84% (66 deaths in 7,869 cases)

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Why have Italy and SK let so many people die despite a significantly larger number of testing?

Let?

South Korea's COVID-19 mortality rate is 0.6% (66 deaths in 7,869 cases)

Japan's COVID-19 mortality rate is 2.3% (15 deaths in 639 cases)

2 ( +3 / -1 )

The majority of people who catch Coronavirus will survive, many without major problems, some have reported that they had hardly any effect. Is Coronavirus dangerous, yes, but people got to calm down, think clearly, don't panic, and take general precautions, that they should be doing anyway to protect themselves from ANY disease.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

@noriahojanen. I responded on another article, but let me repeat here...

Why have Italy and SK let so many people die despite a significantly larger number of testing?

The point of testing at this stage of the outbreak is to try to slow further spread. If you are known to be infected you can take appropriate precautions to limit further spread. It also allows for contact tracing to inform those people to take actions to further limit spread. You won't find a "case" proving the link, but if you follow the logic through you will see the link for yourself (fewer or slowed infections, fewer or slowed hospitalizations, less burden on health system, better treatment, fewer deaths).

Also, wide scale testing allows authorities to see what is really going on and take action accordingly. In China and South Korea you can clearly track when things were worsening and improving. In Japan and other countries that have not been testing, we have no idea what is really going on.

Just because deaths continue to grow, does not mean you can conclude the actions have failed to save lives. No one is saying every life can be saved.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

All their lies,

"What is the cost of lies."

0 ( +0 / -0 )

noriahojanen, there are some explanations to your question online. My opinion is that medical capacity may play a role. If medical facility is overwhelmed, then death rate can be higher. China built 16 hospitals in one month, take total 16,000 people. Japan, on the other hand, has fewer cases.

Tora

If we believe this narrative, we must believe pigs fly. The WHO itself heavily funded by China. China also basically runs Dr. Tedro's home country of Ethiopia. He is a puppet.

Ridiculous.

Could you please provide data regarding the big funders of WHO

and how Ethiopia which is a sovereign nation is being run by China.

Japan: 79 tests per 1 million people (March 10)

> Malaysia 97 per million (March 10)

> UK: 387 per million (March 9)

> Italy: 1,005 per million (March 9)

> S. Korea: 4,099 per million (March 9)

> Why is Japan testing so much less than other countries?

Death tolls (as of March 11-12)

Japan: 15 (excluding 7 from the cruiser)

Malaysia: 0

UK: 8

Italy: 827

South Korea: 66

Why have Italy and SK let so many people die despite a significantly larger number of testing?

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

I hope that China will be held responsible for all this mess.

While I hold no love for the CPP, I don't see that you can blame a country for a virus originating there.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Now everyone can blame China for the vaccines.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

Good news, China officially confirmed vaccines for emergency use.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

Death vs Recovery :

China 3,169 vs 62,801 Italy 827 vs 1,045 Iran 354 vs 2,959 S Korea 66 vs 333 France 48 vs 12

Spain 55 vs 183 Germany 3 vs 25 USA 38 vs 15 Diamond Princess 7 vs 357 Switzerland 4 vs 4

Japan 15 vs 118

I think that Japan has done well for recovery so far, including Diamond Princess. Recovery rate of DP passed 50%.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

News is just coming in that ALL continental Europeans are now banned from the USA. They are simply too dangerous. Japan will likely follow in the coming week or 2.

Yes. All Asians will almost certainly be banned from the US in the coming week or 2.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

I hope that China will be held responsible for all this mess.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Because you don't test people randomly. You test people who have come into contact with confirmed cases or those exhibiting symptoms.

I don't think there is any country out there testing randomly.

The problem is the condition for testing and hurdles put in place have made it difficult for testing to take place. Here, contracting the virus in the train is ruled out so even if you met the other conditions you won't have a test.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

*FYI, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus "Director-General of the World Health Organization" is Ethiopian, one of the countries 'controlled' by China's "Belt and Road Initiative". Coincidence?* I THINK NOT!!!

Ridiculous.

Would declaring covid-19 earlier force all governments to act proactively eventhough they had very few cases. The same people blaming the WHO will be the first to lash out at the WHO for sowing panic by declaring a pandemic and countries with just a few cases using it as an excuse to close their entire country from the outside world.

How does WHO declaring a Pandemic force a country to become proactive in combatting the virus. If a country decides to combat the differently there is nothing the WHO can do about it. Lets not just blame just for the sake of blaming.

Tedros does not make decision alone at the WHO, being an international organisation, there is a body made up of experts that makes decision. It is extremely naive to purport that because the head of WHO happens to be Ethiopian and Ethiopia is in china's belt and road scheme, china is controlling Ethiopia and the WHO. There is just no basis and plain assumption on your part.

The fact is all governments had viewed the virus as something that was faraway from them and won't affect them.

Was it not two weeks ago Trump was boasting about how the US won't be affected, though many governments didn't boast openly like Donnie, most felt like him.

Tell me how declaring a pandemic would have forced some countries to increase testing when they are reluctant to ?

The US is starting to get serious now. NBA season suspended. About time.

WAKE UP CHINA!! This a cultural problem that needs to be addressed. You can no longer eat bats, rats, lizards, wild poisonous snakes, tigers, DOGS, chicken eye tea for virility...................Seriously, the epicenter of most of these strange viruses come from China. Chinese should teach their people that they live in 2020 and no longer need to drink Bats blood to stay healthy.............Remember how wonderful cigarette smoking used to be?

"Meanwhile, trump says everything's under control in America."

And if he does declare a state of emergency, then what? Because in a state of emergency, it would imply banning all mass assembly to contain the spread of the virus, which also means no Dem. election rally for anyone. Do you think Dems would go along with that?

Never mind that the border of the United States has never been 'controlled'.

Had it been, his wall would have been up and be staring at you in the face this very moment.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

News is just coming in that ALL continental Europeans are now banned from the USA. They are simply too dangerous. Japan will likely follow in the coming week or 2.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Why is Japan testing so much less than other countries?

Because you don't test people randomly. You test people who have come into contact with confirmed cases or those exhibiting symptoms. These two groups are simply smaller in Japan.

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

Be VERY CONCERNED folks, not of the virus, but what government control, new quarantines, travel bans, economic crisis, possible forced medications are about to fall upon the population. Keep your eyes and ears wide open and don’t ever give them access to your blood stream.

No matter what will happen, Japanese people will not be alone. Northeast Asian are united against any viruses. Help will be there when needed.

-16 ( +0 / -16 )

Tora said "Well, "P" announcment is at least 47 days too late. That is when there began noticeable community spread around the world."

Tora, where did you get your 47 days too late information ? Is it a part of freedom of expression ? or a part of freedom of fake news ? perhaps a freedom of lies ?

The virus is very likely existed long before your 47 days too late, it could be mixed with influenza without being detected.

Now, Italy asked for help, no EU countries responded but China. Blame China for the help, would you ?

-14 ( +0 / -14 )

It appears that last time they announced it was a pandemic our governments complained that they spent money on vaccines that were not needed.

If we believe this narrative, we must believe pigs fly. The WHO itself heavily funded by China. China also basically runs Dr. Tedro's home country of Ethiopia. He is a puppet.

Look at the timing of the announcement, which comes just after China has it "under control". It is now no longer China's problem, so the WHO were given the green light.

Don't believe me? Look at how Dr. Pedro had nothing but praise for Chinese the handling of this crisis from day one. Not a single negative utterance. He continuously talked about how the world should learn from China, how China was doing an amazing job, etc, etc. He didn't once criticised the CCP's handling of this.

Well, "P" announcment is at least 47 days too late. That is when there began noticeable community spread around the world. Yet the WHO and everybody else, including Japan, for that matte, turned a blind eye, for economic reasons. and nobody wanted to offend China.

Follow the money.

Japan: 79 tests per 1 million people (March 10)

Malaysia 97 per million (March 10)

UK: 387 per million (March 9)

Italy: 1,005 per million (March 9)

S. Korea: 4,099 per million (March 9)

Why is Japan testing so much less than other countries?

10 ( +11 / -1 )

Chip Star - I’ve actually seen this nonsense. One mask, let alone two, will do nothing to prevent you from contracting this virus. It’s too bad so many people are intellectually lazy to the point that they just follow the herd instead of doing cursory research - not saying you’re on of them, kurisupisu.

Chip Star - For those saying that a mask does not help

Read our posts more carefully, we are saying that masks do not prevent you from contracting this virus. We are not saying masks don’t help you not spread the virus.

People are free to make up their own minds, regardless of what internet posters say. If someone choses to wear a mask then they should do so. Wearing a mask will reduce a persons chances of contracting an airborne virus, but most masks are not 100 percent effective. Washing your hands will also reduce a persons chances of contracting a virus.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

Japanese get the news last

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Before reading below, I am not condoning anyone go out an purchase a mask or buy one from 3M. That being said:

If you have a properly/professionaly fitted N95 or other mask with a P100 N99 or N95 filter. It should protect you from air particles in vapor from from entering your mouth, nose, and lungs. Note, your eyes are exposed, and filters usually have a life of 40 hours or 30 days if your using a 3M styled mask. 3M is a major manufacturer of these products and you can find documentation of their products on their website. The masks commonly worn here in Japan don't prevent but only stop people from spraying their insides all over the train somewhat. 3M is not the only company that makes the masks, I only know of them from work. Of course, don't take my word for Gospel. Also, funny seeing how so many are buying off Amazon, Rakuten, ECT. The last place I would go for a mask that I'm using on my face and breathing in would be from anyone except an authorized reseller. My two cents.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

What is happening or not? Meant to be aware of possibilities. Are people going to big cities by their own thought process or are there events, news reports, etc..causing people to gather? What would be the purpose of having people gather in big cities? Since the big earth quake in Japan 2001 and after there have been events that have cleaned out convenience stores, grocery stores shelf's in hours, not days. Recently the toilet paper and cleaning/disinfection items gone in hours. Prices for restocked items go up for the very same items that were manufactured before event. Maybe in America as well as Japan peoples buying habits have become more of microwave, fast food, etc...and for people in rural areas there a few companies that have small delivery trucks selling staples in limited quantities that people line up for regularly. Big cities, motor scooters deliveries of food, trucks with orders items from telephone/internet, co-opt companies to your door. Companies selling survival food kits for 1 week or up to 1 year or more food supplies. Before the Corona virus, people here have become more and more like robots, their walking around with phones in their hands using them or not, bumping into whatever they walk into or they just walk without looking around themselves to anticipate a change in direction.I see videos on the internet of people holding their phones as if they are holding some type of protection against what they are filming, often hearing, I am filming you! I myself am not a out going person publicly, though I make efforts to greet people when walking who are looking at me as we get closer to one another. Not long ago I would often get a hello before saying one, not so much anymore. I now think I may have become what people would call a hermit or isolationist or I have become what this society today has become, expressionless both verbally, facially and without any recognition of another? With whatever amount of supplies one may have there will come the a time of running out sooner or later and that will be a time of what?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Conte emphasized fighting the outbreak must not come at the expense of civil liberties, suggesting that Italy is unlikely to adopt the draconian quarantine measures that helped China push down new infections from thousands per day to a trickle and allowed its manufacturers to restart production lines.

That's the risk democratic societies have to put up with, they cannot imprison millions like China does.

One the other hand if it was not for a repressive regime like China, hiding news of the outbreak, persecuting those who tried to speak out, we would not be in this mess today!!

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Does the fact that the W.H.O. is now sounding the alarm that this is a full blown pandemic and is telling governments they need to fight it throw up a red flag for anyone else? Be afraid, be very afraid. WHOOOOOO Sorry, I mean W.H.O.They ignored it for how long? Over a month in order to get it going but now there still isn’t sufficient panic to generate billions in vaccines. Also, it seems where ever there are sufficient numbers to refer to it as an outbreak; it’s also an area where 5-G has been up and running for a few months…imagine that. I guess the public is smart enough to know there is no vaccine for 5-G flu.

For those saying that a mask does not help

Read our posts more carefully, we are saying that masks do not prevent you from contracting this virus. We are not saying masks don’t help you not spread the virus.

-3 ( +7 / -10 )

For those saying that a mask does not help, how do you know that you do not have it and are unknowingly spreading it to others?Or the person next to you has it and is unknowingly spreading it to you?

You or your neighbor might be asymptomatic but are a carrier.

When you talk, laugh, cough or sneeze, miniscule or sometimes evidently visible saliva droplets are expelled from your respiratory tract and on to objets or people around you.

I know of a person who practices washing her hands thoroughly on regular basis but never wore a mask. She was shocked recently when she tested positive. She is not sure how she got it but she is worried she might have been spreading it to others due to the nature of her work as she is required to talk a lot.

In Japan, hay fever season is on and many people who are allergic sneeze, have a runny nose and itchy eyes. Now, combine that with Corona virus and a mask is inevitable.

What a hypocrite Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus is. Just about everyone NOT controlled by China's influence was screaming at the W.H.O. to declare a Pandemic a month ago before it got out of hand but he didn't until China had manged its (fake) numbers and then said it was okay. He downplayed it and that's why no one did anything until it was too late. The W.H.O. is nothing more than a pawn of the CCP. This is the CCP's war on the world now. Do think there is any chance of sending the CCP the bill for this and collecting on it?

FYI, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus "Director-General of the World Health Organization" is Ethiopian, one of the countries 'controlled' by China's "Belt and Road Initiative". Coincidence? I THINK NOT!!!

Two different examples from 1918

As the disease was spreading, Wilmer Krusen, Philadelphia’s health commissioner, allowed a huge parade to take place on September 28; some 200,000 people marched. In the following days and weeks, the bodies piled up in the city’s morgues. By the end of the season, 12,000 residents had died.

In St. Louis, a public-health commissioner named Max Starkloff decided to shut the city down. Ignoring the objections of influential businessmen, he closed the city’s schools, bars, cinemas, and sporting events. Thanks to his bold and unpopular actions, the per capita fatality rate in St. Louis was half that of Philadelphia. (In total, roughly 1,700 people died from influenza in St Louis.)

Where was the warning to China to stop the mass vacation exodus during the lunar new year? Was there a condemnation of Dr. Li's repression from the government? Lack of leadership is not only trump's problem but also in the WHO.

On my morning commute,I shall wear two masks instead of my usual one!

I’ve actually seen this nonsense. One mask, let alone two, will do nothing to prevent you from contracting this virus. It’s too bad so many people are intellectually lazy to the point that they just follow the herd instead of doing cursory research - not saying you’re on of them, kurisupisu.

"Shame to Abe, you are too coward, too slow, too passive."

Shame to Xi Winnie, you are too amoral, too dishonest, too corrupt, and too much of a scum unworthy of being a human being.

There, corrected for you, Akie.

Anyone seeing the link in countries hit hard by this ChinaVirus2.0?

How many of you have heard of China's "Belt and Road Initiative"? It's been around since 2013 so it's not really news.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belt_and_Road_Initiative

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/china-e2-80-99s-belt-and-road-plan-is-getting-lashed-by-coronavirus/ar-BB10KPPr

The W.H.O. as we all know is in China's pocket. The stats all point to the countries in China's pocket due to China's "Belt and Road Initiative" as being the ones hit the hardest because China would have been VERY 'displeased' at them for blocking Chinese from entering back when the world found out China was hiding the outbreak in December 2019.

As most of you know Taiwan is blocked from the W.H.O. at China's request. Taiwan has been VERY proactive since the 2002/2003 China SARS outbreak. Taiwan learned from that and acted this time for the ChinaVirus2.0 long before the world was even accepting the problem existed.

The W.H.O. now is surprised at the lack of effort and seriousness in most of the world to deal with this ChinaVirus2.0.

"We have called every day for countries to take urgent and aggressive action. We have rung the alarm bell loud and clear," said Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the WHO chief.

"All countries can still change the course of this pandemic. If countries detect, test, treat, isolate, trace and mobilize their people in the response," he said. "We are deeply concerned by the alarming levels of spread and severity and by the alarming levels of inaction."

Shame to Abe, you are too coward, too slow, too passive.

Shame on China for having no health standards for the filthy wet markets where this virus came from. Shame on China for not being completely open about this at the beginning

Calling it a pandemic renders many travel and other insurances invalid, please be careful people!

Just a heads up, for more information as to why the WHO took so long to announce. This article doesn't really describe why the Who took so long. I attached my source below. It appears that last time they announced it was a pandemic our governments complained that they spent money on vaccines that were not needed. I'm not saying I agree but sure we can all understand why they delayed after reading that. In my area of work, I can say the governments I have worked with are mostly hesitant to work proactively and more inclined to apologize after.

Hmm..... Interesting. Doesn't matter what us JT internet doctors (sarcasm) on the forum say. Clearly we can all agree with this comment.

The " Corona-ization " of the world is here.

We all knew this. Shame on WHO for taking so long to act. This is going to get far worse in the coming months if governments around the world do not take extreme action by forcing shutdowns of schools, universities, non-essential shops, all tourist places, all concerts, all festivals, etc.

Keep washing your hands constantly, people!

Conte emphasized fighting the outbreak must not come at the expense of civil liberties,

Authoritarian regimes may try to use this as another reason to restrict individual freedoms. Time for those who still support the freedoms democracies should allow to try to prevent them from doing so while also doing what they can to prevent the spread of this virus. Government leaders must be held accountable. If there was ever a time for honest leaders able to effectively communicate it's now.
