Great news! Let's continue to get Ukraine the support she needs to protect her people and expel the invaders from her lands.

What, more money, more weapons. Much good it's done so far. Their beautiful cities in ruins, fatalities, Russia still on the attack, only Ms Zelenskyy has been out and about courting the White House using some of that money, I dare say. Enough already

-10 ( +7 / -17 )

Lamilly - It has helped prevent Russia from taking even more territory than they already have, has it not?

8 ( +14 / -6 )

What, more money, more weapons. Much good it's done so far.

What do you suggest be done?

My guess, and it’s just a guess, is that you want Ukraine to surrender.

8 ( +13 / -5 )

As for all the weapons sent, it is now reported that most of it gets sold on the black market.

Would you be so kind as to post links to these "reports"? Let's see what you got!

9 ( +12 / -3 )

Everyone supporting the most corrupt cointry in Europe and no one knows what actually happens to all the money sent

Second most corrupt country in Europe, which is being invaded by Russia, the most corrupt country in Europe. Doing nothing wouldn't make Ukraine less corrupt, it would make it easier for Russia to annex the country. Once imperialist Russia gets it's teeth bashed in, Ukraine will integrate into the EU, which will make help it fight corruption.

Anything to demonize and get rid of Russia

Considering they're doing the invading, they deserve to be demonized.

What is it that makes Ukraine so important on the world stage ?

Coopee

Maybe to hide the west's plundering of it's wealth and the massive money laundering.

Wait a minute, you were claiming at the start of your rant that no one knows where western aid to Ukraine is going, now you're claiming the west is plundering their wealth? Makes total sense.

NATO continuing its proxy war, a war it is losing. Don't be fooled by the tiny successes, a bomb or missile hitting Crimea. The real war or should I say, special military operation is in the east. Here territory is being taken on a daily basis. Territory that will not be going back under Kiev control. NATO could turn this around but that would require NATO boots, planes and tanks in large numbers.... Not going to happen. So all these "game changer" munitions do is put money into the arms industry and corrupt Ukrainians pockets. Has anyone worked out where Zelensky got his wealth? Its long past the time for NATO to admit Ukraine is never going to join, Crimea and the Dombas are Russian, and get their puppet in Kiev to negotiate an end to the pointless war. Who knows, they may get to keep Odessa and have a port.

Putin using barbaric thermobaric bombs.

The town of Pisky located on the outskirts of Donetsk was obliterated yesterday.

Russia's thermobaric weapons were filmed decimating entire apartment blocks.

Huge fireballs were seen engulfing the building, giving off thick, black smoke.

The 'vacuum bombs' ignite a cloud of vapor, sucking in the air and unleashing explosions far more powerful and long-lasting than conventional explosives.

The latest evidence is that Russia is indiscriminately bombing residential areas.

When we were sending weapons and money (And carefully curating our news) to Saddam Hussein, were we supporting Iraq, as the headlines said, or supporting a war of oppression?

Because the parallels are piling up.

When we were sending weapons and money (And carefully curating our news) to Saddam Hussein, were we supporting Iraq, as the headlines said, or supporting a war of oppression?

What are you talking about? The US never sent any military hardware to Iraq under Saddam Hussein. American and European companies sold dual use equipment to Iraq that the Iraqis used for their military programs in violation of their export licenses and the French sold Iraq some Mirage fighters and Exocet missiles but there was no direct arms aid from the US. I was out there and know what the Iraqi order of battle ( military term for the arms a nation possesses, their manpower and organization) because we were worried about them attacking our ships as they did with the USS Stark. Late in the war when it looked like Iran was going to beat Iraq the US offered intelligence support. Nobody wanted Iran to conquer Iraq but nobody liked Iraq either. We often joked among ourselves that we wished they would just keep fighting each other forever, keep them both pre-occupied so neither would bother their neighbors. It was crazy in the Persian Gulf at the time with Iran attacking any tanker that loaded out of Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia or any of the Gulf States while Iraq was trying to sink tankers that loaded out of Iran. We, many EU navies and even the Soviet Navy were out there trying to protect the tankers of friendly nations. A lot of ships were damaged by missiles. The IRG would come out and attack us at least once or twice a week.

With respect to corruption, Mr. Zelenskyy has just accomplished a house cleaning of ineffective and corrupt officials. But in the context of an invasion of your nation, worrying about corruption is like fretting about old wallpaper when the house itself is on fire.

7 ( +10 / -3 )

With respect to corruption, Mr. Zelenskyy has just accomplished a house cleaning of ineffective and corrupt officials.

That is what he says and you believe.

Only because he removed people he didn't like claimed they were pro Russian and replaced them with old friends including several childhood friends.

Yeah placing childhood friends in powerful positions

NY Times:

The dismissals of the prosecutor general, Iryna Venediktova, and Ivan Bakanov, the leader of the Security Service of Ukraine — and a childhood friend of the president — were announced in brief decrees.

And it was not the first or last time.

Notice everything he does a friend ends up in the position and he rules by Decrees now as pointed in the article

Do you think Ukraine should just surrender then?*

Both Ukraine and Russia should sit down and negotiate ceasefire asap to put a stop to the civilian bloodshed and further destruction. Alas this will be drawn out for there is no way Russia will now give up its gains in Donbass & Crimea and just retreat whilst on the other hand US / NATO strategic interest is to keep this going for a long as possible to weaken Russia to the max. Meanwhile the civilians pay the price and arms manufacturers profits swell.

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

there is a lot of space available between actively fighting while demanding more money and weapons and surrendering.

Need to find that soft spot in between for negotiations so that people stop dying.

But then once the fighting stops, so does the money flow and the world goes back to not caring and all the flags come off Twitter profiles......thats unacceptable, right?

-9 ( +4 / -13 )

It's also in Ukraine's best interests not to give up land to an aggressive invader. Currently their goals are the removal of Russian forces from their land and I don't see that changing anytime soon. You guys seems not to be very clued into the Ukrainian mindset on this. A short-term cease fire that simply allows Russia to lick its wounds and regroup is the worst thing Ukraine can do right now. Even if Ukraine allowed Russia to keep everything they currently hold, do you really think that Russia wouldn't come back for more?

1 ( +6 / -5 )

Don't the Ukrainian people realize that they are being used and sacrificed by the West and their puppet Zelensky to fight their war?

As someone from the US regime recently said: ""We have to fight Russia over there so we don't have to fight them here"

-1 ( +7 / -8 )

Don't the Ukrainian people realize that they are being used and sacrificed by the West and their puppet Zelensky to fight their war?

They may be a little distracted by Putin trying to genocide them as part of his attempt to take over their nation in war, executing their fellow civilians in the streets.

That's the ones not already murdered by Russian soldiers that is. They're a little distracted by being dead.

-2 ( +8 / -10 )

Even if Ukraine allowed Russia to keep everything they currently hold, do you really think that Russia wouldn't come back for more?

Especially now that they know the west will not defiantly oppose them, you may be right.

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

As someone from the US regime recently said: ""We have to fight Russia over there so we don't have to fight them here"

A near repeat of what was used to justify Vietnam, etc...

McCarthyism, the red scare, etc..

Today it is, " if we don't stop Russia, who is next, Russia will take XYZ next" rinse repeat.

South Vietnam fell, the world didn't collapse, but the interface, the illegal bombing of Cambodia and Laos did the real damage.

The coups in Iran, Chile etc...to stop the Reds the commies, resulted in far longer reaching problems.

Here we are again, Reds/commies replaced by Russia and using the same propaganda nearly down to the same words.

-1 ( +8 / -9 )

Here we are again, Reds/commies replaced by Russia and using the same propaganda nearly down to the same words.

Yes, and what makes it stranger this time is that the Reds/commies are at home, not in Russia...

Western nations pledge more military support for Ukraine:

More, more, more, the more the merrier.

That would drag the war longer & longer.

Ukraine is luring US to provide even better & more lethal weapon to fight Russians.

US has started to listen hard & grant Kiev's wishes..

You must be suggesting that NATO which you do not support should be fighting Russia.

Former President Donald Trump, who was impeached for threatening to withhold military aid to Ukraine among other issues, is now taking credit for weapons the country's military is using to stave off an invasion from Russia.

Western nations pledge more military support for Ukraine

Insane. Their own economies are suffering, their populations are looking forward to a freezing winter, but they keep taxing them to pour endless amounts of money into this conflict, which can only be ended by negotions (and could have ended that way long ago.)

It is like the military industrial complex has taken over.

-4 ( +5 / -9 )

There’s a really easy way to stop this war. It’s for the Russians to go back to Russia. Not their “liberated” or annexed areas but actual internationally recognized Russian territory.

Until then, Ukrainian will to fight is not impinged, the West’s will to support them is strong, and Vlad is recruiting convicted felons to fill the gaping holes in the “might” red army.

Oh, and his air fields keep blowing up....

3 ( +8 / -5 )

You must be suggesting that NATO

Yes

which you do not support should be fighting Russia.

No, I don't support the US fighting Russia.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

Their own economies are suffering, their populations are looking forward to a freezing winter, but they keep taxing them to pour endless amounts of money into this conflict,

Far less costly than fighting the Russians on EU / NATO territory. If you think Russia would stop at the Ukraine border think again. They want Moldova and the three Baltic States back under Russian control at the very least. The west either defeats Russia in Ukraine or faces warfare on EU soil. Those are the stakes.

3 ( +7 / -4 )

No, I don't support the US fighting Russia.

That is the outcome if Russia is not stopped and expelled from Ukraine.

The sad reality is that we have Americans posting on J-T who prefer the Russian government to that of the US, and think the idea of a white Christian nation that persecutes gays and any religion other than Russian Orthodox is preferable to a multi ethnic, multi faith society with a secular government not beholden to any particular religion. They want the US to be a white's only, christians only society and think the Russian way is better than the American way. You know it's true.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

There’s a really easy way to stop this war. It’s for the Russians to go back to Russia. Not their “liberated” or annexed areas but actual internationally recognized Russian territory."

That sounds nice but in reality its near impossible to see Russia giving up Donbas and Crimea after all this.

You guys seems not to be very clued into the Ukrainian mindset on this. "

Are you an Ukranian yourself? If not than you,re just as clued or otherwise as the rest of us here regarding their mindset.

It's also in Ukraine's best interests not to give up land to an aggressive invader. Currently their goals are the removal of Russian forces from their land and I don't see that changing anytime soon."

So its better for the war to keep dragging on for months and years, thousands and thousands more civilian deaths and towns cities destroyed instead of sitting down to negotiating table? The ceasefire talks will have to happen sooner or later, question is how much more destruction will it take?

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Putin could just leave and pay for all the damages he has made.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Just because the USA says Ukraine is the side to back and Russia is bad you take it at face value.

Let me remind you the the USA bombed Cambodia Laos secretly causing those governments to collapse giving the Khmer Rouge the void to take over and it was the bad commies north Vietnam that ended the nightmare in Cambodia.

It was the USA that arranged the military coups in Chile, Argentina, Iran, to overthrow the elected "socialist/Communist governments.

And the list goes on.

The Red scare was the way it got support and nothing the USA and it's lapdogs said came true, on the contrary, the governments they put in place they supported with arms and money became the ones that excecuted tens of thousands of innocent people once one was denounced as a "communist" they joined the ranks of the "disappeared ".

Now it is the Pro Russian, accuse anyone in Ukraine and oops they are arrested, this is what all the opposition is now going through and anyone that dares say anything against the government.

But yes give more money, Rinse repeat.

-4 ( +4 / -8 )

The ceasefire talks will have to happen sooner or later, question is how much more destruction will it take?

Negotiate. With Vladimir Putin. Poisoner of political opposition. Breaker of agreements. Liar. Committer of war crimes. That guy?

Putin will agree to terms (and abide by them) when he has a boot on his neck and no other options. Until then his sole purpose in negotiations will be to stall for time, divide his opposition, or make agreements that he will break given the first opportunity to do so.

The Ukrainians seem to understand this better than some of our lot do.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Canada also aided the US in many of its wars and invasions.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Negotiate. With Vladimir Putin. Poisoner of political opposition. Breaker of agreements. Liar. Committer of war crimes. That guy?

correct, that guy. whats the alternative?

Russia isnt just going to leave on their own in this raindrop, lollipop and unicorns scenario the left keeps pushing as the only acceptable resolution.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

Putin will agree to terms (and abide by them) when he has a boot on his neck and no other options.

so how is Ukraine, who is already 30% controlled by Russia, gonna make this happen?

its been 6 months and they are in a worse position militarily than they were in the beginning.

So NATO or the US or the EU need to be the actual ones to put boots on necks? wouldnt they need to put boots on the ground to do that? Yep!

Or just send more trillions of money and weapons and let Ukraine keep losing ground?

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

The ceasefire talks will have to happen sooner or later, question is how much more destruction will it take?

Negotiate. With Vladimir Putin. Poisoner of political opposition. Breaker of agreements. Liar. Committer of war crimes. That guy?"

Well, is there anyone else on the Russian side to negotiate with that you are aware of?
