At this point I no longer expect anything from the "world leaders" in this topic, with a relatively more urgent problem demonstrating how dysfunctional the world is climate change doesn't have a snowflake chance in hell of being treated with the importance it deserves.

t’s awful to see an American president so incompetent and out of touch with reality - pledging to destroy the hopes and dreams of his own citizens in order to make Communist China rich. Biden is wrecking the future for all of mankind with his incompetence. The climate changes- don’t impoverish the West and make totalitarian countries like China and Russia wealthier to satisfy your ideological imperative to control the lives of others. Hopefully something will jar this to old dotard and cause him to come to his senses.

Hahahahaha, hilarious as always! You should write for theonion :)

Love the way Japan pledges, have you seen how many trucks are on the roads each day, how many air conditioners blasting away, not to mention the coal fired power plants and let's not forget the total destruction of the oceans next year with fukushima dirty water.

And you want us to recycle and be aware, it gets dumber and dumber

If world leaders could please call out my Canadian PM for investing in more fossil fuels that would be really useful as it would embarass him directly and might, might even stop the practice.

I may still be naïve, but most tricky is that the climate change doesn't necessarily make us all losers. Russia for instance would gain defrosted lands and unfrozen ports and routes on the Arctic Sea while as a big exporter of fossil fuels the country would suffer most under a renewable energy-driven regime. The melting ice enables Greenland to access to oil, gas and minerals underground, which would create new economic opportunities.

Although Putin alongside other leaders so far are showing cooperation, I'm not sure whether and how well they will keep promises.

I never think that the issue is simple and straightforward. It requires me to learn first and thoroughly before taking action. So many propaganda campaigns from both sides make me feel a bit overwhelmed.

Reducing fossil fuels is the best way to weaken Russia. That is all that is holding their economy together. The more countries go renewable, the less foreign exchange Russia gets.

Boris Johnson Government pledged/announced a preposterous plan to cut carbon emissions by 78% compared to 1990 levels by 2035. It is gibberish drivel.

Outrageous mumbo jumbo

The UK pandemic economy, monetary/fiscally, cannot sustain such a pledge.

Bullpoo sorry .

The whole fiasco is worst that the most contrived reality TV embarrassingly tedious rigmarole

The "World Leaders " should lead by not exporting their dirty industries to underdeveloped nations thus exporting their dirty energies. Many countries have exported their manufacturing to China, India, Vietnam, Africa etc and now want them to reduce their carbon emissions, when it's the developed countries who are responsible for the dirt in the first place.

Well-being and health of Planet Earth, our common home is an issue of major concern. Working and walking together in thought, word and deed could be the way forward.

Actually, none of that is true.

World leaders pledge climate cooperation

....like Kyōto, like Paris.... and those accords worked out so well.... so pledge away pledge away.... just so much hot air.... no wonder the place is 'warming'.... (^_-)

The rush to cut CO2 by 52% in just 9 years is buffoonery of the highest order. Add to that the racist policies Biden pursued such as strident opposition to integration and the mass incarceration on black Americans and you have a politician that is not only a screeching clown but a dangerous demagogue.

Hahaha still super funny :)

Although the Washington Times has an extreme right editorial bias, they report straight news with a much lower bias. Therefore, we rate them right-center biased overall. We also rate them Questionable and factually mixed due to poor sourcing, holding editorial positions contrary to scientific consensus, and numerous failed fact checks.

Does anyone on the right read the things they post?

They're too busy wailing about plastic toys, cartoons and Disney.

Those that do, hmmm, "engage" in the big issues like climate change? I'm afraid it seems dialogue and honesty have gone out the window. Bad faith arguments, changing narratives, gaslighting and false claims are the norm, now.

The knowing posts about Biden being a mirror image of 45... these and other actions were promised the moment he won, back in November. We even had people here (and elsewhere) saying everything you did/said/levelled at 45 - we're going to do the same back at you.

What's sad is, these sulky and childish actions/arguments/deflections encourage the onslaught of global disasters, by feeding into the conservative narratives of short term gain, and long term tragic legacy for those to come after.

Conservatives... try conserving the planet, eh.

You seem to misunderstand how that works. It was not the developed countries governments that exported the dirty industrial manufacturing. It was the corporations. Because it was "too costly" and "too much hassle" to abide by their domestic environmental and economic regulations their governments imposed on the corporations they export manufacturing to countries that do not have or enforce those regulations.

Whenever the world's leaders can cooperate in the common good, it is an encouraging sign.

paving the way for a November U.N. meeting in Glasgow

So they all going to be burning fossil fuel flying first class to Glasgow , riding around in large cars to talk about how to tell us all how to reduce our carbon footprint.......................I see !

And we are supposed to be listening to this dribble coming out of these self serving idiots and their irony.

Right gotcha !

Now this is really what Making America Great Again looks like - the US leading the world tackling our most urgent problems. President Biden makes Trump look like the incompetent buffoon and former reality TV host he is....

Could you imagine Trump leading a world summit? Well, maybe a summit on adult films...and only if you made a recurring "uncheck the box" contribution first...

World leaders should aim for joint and peaceful balance relationships. This move alone will save the earth.

Nobody will take this seriously after offline!

The point isn’t to reduce CO2. The goal is control over the choices of individuals to live their lives in the way they feel is best for them. The socialist cannot tolerate groups of people who are successful having more than groups that fail to provide for themselves. Unless you are aborting a baby freedom of choice is not acceptable.

Reducing fossil fuels is the best way to weaken Russia.

Russia is irrelevant- unless you are Hillary Clinton and want to purchase intel on your political opponent. The biggest beneficiary will be China. They have corned the market on rare earth materials necessary to manufacture renewable energy equipment such as solar panels and batteries. The Leftist Nimbys have ceded this to them. China also dominates manufacturing for these products as well. The Left is comfortable with a Communist one party state dominating the world. It suits their ideological world view.
